  1. I would like to chime in a relatively simple measure that would help alleiviate pillar spam, without requiring much admin time. Give every tribe two flags, and have structures within a decent radius of the flags have normal decay timers. Have structures outside of the flag area decay at say 2x, 4x, hell maybe even 8x rates. That should cut down the amount of pillar spam to amounts that people are really dedicated to maintaining, without requiring active admin intervention, or stopping people from setting up temporary traps or shelters.
  2. I would like to see an industrial jerky maker, since in vanilla Ark there is no way to speed up jerky making aside from running a bunch of preserving bins in parallel, and that looks out of place next to fridges, industrial grills & cookers. I would also like to see a gate that is midway between the behemouth and standard dino gate sizes; would be nice for rexes & spinos. Armored glass & tek glass would be nice as well; make the armoured glass be on par with stone structures, and tek glass with metal ones.
  3. Just to add on to this, all creatures in Ark have 1 base level, then levels into their stats, that add up to the total level. The levels that matter for breeding are the levels creatures have when freshly tamed, or when first hatched; the levels from XP do nothing, so if you plan on just breeding a creature there is no need to level it up. For wild creatures, the levels are randomly assigned; you find a level 190 rock drake egg, and it will have 189 randomly assigned levels, for example. For stuff you tame, creatures will start with randomly assigned stats, and then the levels from taming effectiveness are also randomly doled out on top. Because of that random factor, two creatures of the same level can have very different stat allocations; also, sometimes a somewhat lower level creature can end up with more levels in a useful stat; i.e. a level 170 drake egg could have better health than any 190s you find. So you should focus on specific stats, not the overall level. When you are breeding, the game picks each stat level count separately from one parent or the other; just combining the best of the useful stats you have found can produce very strong tames. The incubator lets you see those stat level directly, and greatly simplifies the process. Then there is mutations on top of that, but that is a whole other post.
  4. You will want to breed your uber male with unmutated females. The level of the females does not matter; you could clone a bunch of really low levels if you wanted. First, you will want to breed your male with those random females until you get some females with the health, stam, weight levels your uber male has; then you set them aside. After that, you go for melee mutations; use the gestation monitor, and when you get a 102 melee baby, keep it, move stat to male if it is female (by mating with clean male), and that male becomes the new melee breeder; then repeat until you get a 104 melee, and so on. I recommend naming your breeder males after their key stat; it makes it trivial to see new mutation when using incubator/gestation monitor. Once you have gotten your melee stat up to where you wanted, you mate your finale melee male with those health/stam/weight females you set aside earlier until you get a female & male with all your combined stats.
  5. Every now and then the official servers will crash; sometimes they will come back in like 15 minutes after a reboot, and sometimes they need to have a previous save loaded up, or a hardware failure occured, and it takes a while to get it back online. If you look at the support section on this website there will be a server outage report form, that may or may not speed things up.
  6. Make sure to fill out a server outage report form, and select the Reset to Day 1 option. I have had this happen to some servers I play on; they will reset it to the most recent server save eventually.
  7. Day 1 resets happen often enough that they have their own checkbox on the server outage form; make sure to fill that out. The server support team will load up the most recent server save when they get around to it; those are done every 15 mins so at most you lose 15 mins of progress.
  8. I have had this happen to me before - I found that I could briefly get on the server (before getting kicked by battleeye) by opening a single player game, hitting tab for the console, and then open ipaddress:port (battlemetrics will have this) to manually connect - was enough time to cryopod animals and top off generator.
  9. I have had this problem before - with Crystal Isles 836 about a month ago, and Gen2 937 a few days ago, but they just fixed that one. Make sure to file the server outage reports. One thing you can do while you wait for the fix is to manually connect to the server using console commands - open a single player game, hit tab for the console, then type open ipaddress:port number - battlemetrics will have the ip address and port number. This will let you get onto the server for a few minutes (before battleye kicks you off) but should be enough to cryopod up tames, and/or do quick food runs.
  10. Well, it looks like the weird issue I was having with Crystal Isles 836 has been resolved - it showed up on the server list and I have been playing on it for 15 minutes with no issues.
  11. Well, I think I am going to file a ticket over it; maybe you can do the same Morgen. I hope you are able to stay on long enough to at least do the minimal base maintenance.
  12. So I have a small outpost on CI 836 (for wyvern taming) and while I haven't been playing on it much since Gen2 came out, I still log every few days to render in the base & top off the cryofridge generator. Last night, I went to do just that, and that server wasn't on the list, so I figured it was down and headed over to my Gen2 character, and play that for several hours just fine. This morning, it still wasn't on the server list (though a bunch of other CI servers are visible) so I went to check battlemetrics to see how long it was down, and well battlemetrics said it had been up and running the whole time. Still not on the list, I used the console to manually connect to that server's IP address, and was able to get on to the server - for a few minutes. Then I got kicked off with a "Battleye client not responding" error message. I tried again with the same results. Now, the weird thing is that the other official servers I have characters on do not have this issue, and let me log in and play just fine. And to make it extra weird, my wife's account on her computer is having the same exact issue with CI 836. Anyone know what could be going on?
  13. Are you on Steam? Some others have had a similar issue, where they got punted into the beta branch option. Right click on Ark in your Steam library, select Properties, and then click the Beta tab, and opt-out.
