  1. Thoracopterus (Icari) Rideable Flying Fish. Although its Triassic Era ancestors were small, the Ark Overseers altered the delicate Thora greatly in size, giving it a better chance of survival among predators. The Thora is larger than the Icthyosaurus, roughly half the size of the Megalodon. Powerful fins give it the ability to propel itself out of the water and glide gracefully for short distances along the water's surface. While gliding above the water, Thoracopterus (Icari) gets a Hydrated Buff, giving it a 30 second speed burst. Whether it is an Alpha Megalodon or an Alpha tribe chasing your tail, Thora can zip you away from danger with ease! Above-water glide time length is determined by Oxygen and Stamina Stats. The Thora cannot be out of water for very long. Like the Icarus of myth, the Thora will suffer if it glides too long in the sun. Underwater, the Thora's glide ability transforms to a temporary speed boost, folding its pectoral fins against its body as it rockets you forward to safety, or while diving to the ocean floor in search of its favorite crunchy food - Ammonites. (Dive/boost Similiar to Rock Drake ability) This, and the Thora's ability at making a quick get-away, makes it an ideal tame for gathering Ammonite Bile and black pearls. Thoracopterus (Icari) can often be found in schools of two or three, similar to its distant cousin, Astrodelphis. Unlike its cousin, Thora does not require a Tek saddle, relying instead on materials readily at hand. (175 hide, 80 Fiber, 10 Metal, 5 Silica Pearls) Thoracopterus (Icari) is an early-to-mid game knock-out tame. It's preferred taming kibbles are Fish Meat, Prime Fish Meat, Regular Kibble or Ammonite Bile. The fish quickly escaped on the breeze and dove back into the water, far away from the pack of hungry megalodons that had been chasing it. Thoracopterus Icari - for whatever else would I call a Flying Fish? - stayed above the water just long enough to escape. Just like Icarus and his wings, but briefer flight and ever more careful of the air and sun. After days of observation and exploratory dives, I witnessed it folding its pectoral fins close to its body and rocketing down to the deeps to feast on ammonites. It crunched away at the Ammonites for the mollusk's tasty interior bits and left the ammonite's resources to be gathered freely. Domesticated: Thoracopterus makes an able get-away tame in cases of emergency. It is also able to quickly dive very deep in order to reach its favorite food and avoid predators. Taming involves trapping and knocking them out. Their favorite foods are fish, prime fish meat, Regular Kibble and Ammonite Bile.
