  2. Bleh, sounds like there's little way to avoid it then. I could try to install the DLC I know I'll want, then configure the game not to update again, though it would certainly suck to miss out on new content or bugfixes. I haven't played the game in a while, how big usually are these updates? I remember them being a serious pain, but that was all the way back in 2017.

I'm currently on a metered data plan, meaning if I use more than 15 gigs a month my speed gets slowed down to absolutely horrendous levels, and updating anything through Steam basically becomes impossible. I know ARK's patch downloads tend to be big, but what determines just HOW big they are? If I have few/no expansions or maps installed, will that help slim the patches down a bit? Which DLCs are the biggest culprits for bloated updates?
  4. First bought this game in 2015 and ran it on a computer that really wasn't up to the task. Had juuust enough fun amidst the tide of unending frustration to keep playing it, until I started getting some really awful graphical glitches, including a strobe-lighting sky and hideous amounts of bloom. The straw that broke the camel's back, I think, was when therizes got introduced, and they spawned everywhere and would constantly aggro to me and my creatures.   5. (This is my first post here, please forgive me if this isn't the correct subforum for this question!) Hopefully soon I'll have a computer that isn't a potato, so I'm thinking of picking ARK up again, because I like hurting myself and this game is an abusive relationship. I plan to go singleplayer only, and I'm looking for mods geared towards primitive, immersive survival. So tools, structures, decorations, rebalancing to make resources less bullpoop, etc. I’m also trying to find something that will improve on the dino AI and make them behave a little more like animals instead of robots/ve
