  1. Looks good, doesn't work. I tamed around 20 WILD turtles, they all were level 145.

I build a taming pen similar to yours, we have taming speed x5, but the Noglin just got around 5-7% for each turtle and in the end a very bad taming effectiveness. No idea why it's like that but it might be that WC messed something up with the taming speed multiplier.

  2. Heyho,

got my private, dedicated server running and first thing I did was disabling the given TEK-suite when you re/spawn.

There was no issue so far and all missions are fairly possible without the suite - except this one.

In the second room, there are these poison-leaking tanks that need to be repaired, but you can't fix the higher located leaks without being able to fly/hover, we even tried standing on Reaper Kings, but that didn't work, so even if we just try to survive the poison-status reaches 100% and the mission fails.

Any ideas? Is it possible to do the mission without the TEK-suite?

  3. If anyone ever reads this: Don't use bred dinos, use wild ones that you tamed, they work much better. Also make sure that no player is even close to the Noglin or else it runs away and you need to reset it. At least this is the experience I made.

  4. ... you die. The game behaves as if you died, the music changes and the Window pops up that leaves you the chance to create a new survivor or respawn at a bed or a random location. You can't close that window. Chosing to spawn at a bed or relogging both fix the issue and revert you back to your character. Havn't tried the option to actually create a new survivor.

    Steps to reproduce:

    • You need 2 players in the same tribe, a friendly (tamed) Noglin, a wild Dino with lower level than the Noglin (maybe a Carbonemis) and a saddle for the wild Dino
    • Player1 needs to pick up the Noglin and throw it unto the wild Dino to control it
    • Player2 puts a saddle on the controled Dino and mounts it
    • Player1 will notice a change in the games music and after 2-3 seconds get the 'death-window'

Is it possible to add a command(s) to remove a spacific world effect, if so make it happen please, it's killing every baby because everyone has to wait till effect wears off, meaning every baby has to stay cryod untill the effect is worn off, but people like to do alpha mission and ect.

Have you read the solution I provided? Try the server setting mentioned above, it fixed the issue weeks ago, you just have to add it to the server settings.

  6. I've read that usually it's the mods fault, but my game just has one mod (super spyglass) and that one is working fine for my friends.

So what I did: Transferred Maewing from Gen 2 to Gen 1 server, both players that did the same with me were fine. We could teleport around Gen1 and wanted to catch some Blood Stalkers. We could teleport to the bog biome, all 3 players on Maewings but when we moved somewhere below a tree my game froze and then crashed with the error below. I can't log back in, every time I want to join that server I crash in the loading screen. My friends can play just fine, they didn't do anything different.

Verifying files now, but if that doesn't work I have no diea what I should do. Also I am confused why it shows the summerbash folder in the crash, the event shouldn't run anymore, my servers are set to have the same events as official servers.

    Server Version: 333.4

  7. Quote

Fixed some cases where the Noglin could attach in cases it shouldn't, and some cases where after a Noglin has attached it would be in a broken state.

I thought this fixed it, but I tried it again yesterday and nearly the same happened, the only difference is that the timer is missing the "-1" behind that it has in the first screenshot.

    Steps to reproduce:

    • Pick up a friendly Noglin to your shoulder
    • Mount (with the character) any ridable Dino
    • Move close to a wild Dino so it will stay infront of you (while riding) and throw the Noglin off your shoulder by pressing 'R' or Double-tap 'F' (default controls)
    • Noglin will attach to wild Dino

    • Camera movement not possible
    • Any controls (WASD, opening inventory, Reverting back to player-view) not possible
    • Orbit Camera works, but is inverted (doesn't work anymore after the timer runs out)
    • Main Menu with Esc works

Another screenshot after the timer ran out (the bag of the Trike on the ground in the middle of the screen after it died, camera stuck)

  8. @Lonewolfxuz Nice words, as non-native english speaker I couldn't write it down any better. The game is great, but the gap between the community and the company is huge and I don't think this will change with ARK 2. All these voices in the forum are getting ignored. I also tried to put it into words:

The only difference: After 3 days on official servers, I gave up. The ping horrible enough that I wasn't even able to tame/hit anything, hence I am playing on a private server with friends, which makes the situation bearable.

  9. Unfortunately I think this won't lead anywhere, but hope dies last, so I'll just talk about my thoughts.

WildCard is a very young company, but the game you developed, the world you created filled a niche in the market and, without doubt, is a big success. As a player myself I can just say I love the idea, I love the gameplay, the sounds and the amazing ideas and graphics. I am sure there are more things like animations, UI and whatever else there might be - include them to the list :)

But... like all games, ARK has bugs and a ton of players, especially new ones, with a lot of questions, requests, ideas and artworks to show off.

Current state (how I personally view it): The forum mainly runs by the community, there are some chosen players - the volunteers - that make sure that people don't tear each other apart and stick to the rules.

Then there's the QA('s?) that rarely reply to threads, but recently was the first time I got the feeling that they indeed look at the bug-parts and forward some of the issue - but don't leave any comment about it, leaving the players alone and with the thoughts that nobody cares. That nobody has a solution, which I assume might sometimes be the case, especially when issues only appear on just one specific private server and might be caused by mods. I am surprised that one QA isn't mentioned 100 times with offtopic-spam and help-seeking players in a specific thread as soon as he/she leaves a reply.

Next we have the News, one very positive thing in my opinion, it's the only source you show players some of the cards in your hands, feeding them some information, pointing at general topics and sometimes addressing issues that people felt alone with. It's my favorite part of the website, I like being close to you, like hearing from you, it's the currently biggest bridge between community and company. But it's a one way street. At least it feels like one.

The community is enraged about a lot of topics, out of frustration they don't hold back with insults, but even if they try to reason - like I do now - the cry for help, the cry to be heard seems to fall on deaf ears... or closed eyes. Again, this is what it looks and feels like on this end of the river.

My biggest fear is that this won't change with ARK 2.

    So, what now?

I can only assume your situation and that your capacities are quite limited and I can just make suggestions based on my experience as a volunteer at another game-company. To give a brief overview what the different volunteers did:

    • reproduce bugs (if possible) submitted in the forum and putting them detailed (step by step) into the internal bug-tracker
    • helping in the forum, forwarding requests, keeping lists (QoL-requests, Bugs,...) up to date
    • running the ticket-system (reports, bugs, complains,..)
    • QA-helpers testing new content and patches
    • GM-work

The key to keep this working was a Community Manager (not a volunteer, but an employee at the company) that was responsible for the volunteers. Each volunteer had to sign a contract to keep quiet about all internal information (and a lot of other rules of course), together with a copy of their identity card.

I am sure some of this stuff just doesn't fit here and the systems behind ARK might not be made for 'external' access - but you did a first step, you already have volunteers as moderators and I think that's a good base to work with, a base that could help to soothe the angry mob that rages in the forum. People that help others, people that just write "Hey I read your post and forwarded it" or something like that. Literally anything that shows players that someone cares instead of never getting a reply.

That's it. As I said, the game is great, but the huge gap between the community and WC is a giant issue in my opinion.

TLDR: players are left alone, frustration and anger is growing, if you can't afford the time of your employees to show more presence, look out for more volunteers to do the job, to form a voice between you (WC) and the community

  10. Hi there,

When throwing a Noglin off the shoulder while being on the mount (pressing R) onto another Dino to control it, it leaves the character hanging in the air above the mount and unable to do anything. No WASD, no other button that would do anything. Got attacked by a Dilo, the controlled dino started attacking, my camera followed but still unable to do anything. When I pressed the button to whistle 'attack this target' the game crashed into a fatal error.

Getting into orbit cam works, but the mouse control is inverted then.

Edit: After waiting for the 5 minutes to pass, nothing changes, need to relog to be able to do anything again.

    Fatal error!

  11. HI there,

I've read often that it takes 5 tames MAXIMUM to tame a Noglin. I tried it 3 times now, but for me the Noglin just gets around 1.8% taming progress for each of my imprinted Maewings (completely leveled on HP ~8k-10k), my private server is set to taming speed x5 +  world buff + summer event, I really can't imagine that it's just because I am not using turtles!

Anyone there with an idea on what I am doing wrong? Do I really have to 'feed' the Noglin 50 Maewings??

Longnecks also come from Red/Cyan/Orange supply drops

Is there any source? A list of drops regarding the current color would be quite nice (I know they correspond to the resource you can get int he space, but I am missing a list of supply drop)

  13. Hi there!

I just guess it's not commonly known because it only affects private servers and I already got used to it, but since Gen2 I got quite some new people and friends to play and all complain about the same: After you type in the password set up to join a server you have to click the OK-Button with your mouse - it would be so much better to just hit that Return-key on the keyboard instead (or additionally).

Well, that's already it, I don't have much hope, but who knows, it's a super small thingy and maybe I'll someday see it in the patchnotes someday :)

  14. You could try the server-settings mentioned here, specifically the bEnableWorldBuffScaling:

However, even if babys grow faster, nobody could yet tell me if the higher growth-rate will result in not being able to get 100% imprint on them.

A more temporary solution is, if you are an Admin, you can get rid of the active maewing race buffs, by using these commands in the console:

    • cheat removeworldbuff BABYMATURE_BOON_EASY
    • cheat removeworldbuff BABYMATURE_BOON_MEDIUM
    • cheat removeworldbuff BABYMATURE_BOON_HARD
    • Like 1
    • Thanks 1
  15. Hi there,

I am quite confused on how to beat those, even on Gamma difficulty. I've seen Youtube-videos with people using TEK-bows, but on my server we are level 40-90, so nobody can use any TEK-stuff and I can't beleave you need TEK to beat the gamma difficulty.

We tried using Cross Bows, but they are quite inefficient, take tons of tranq arrows and need to be repaired here and there. So... what's the way to go here? WHat are we suppose to do?

And as last point: It says that the mission will not take place in the genesis simulation, but what does it mean? It's the same map and even after starting the mission we can still go to our base and do stuff.
