U just have to tame all higher levels and hope u get a good role of the dice.

Especially if you pre prep with a bork load of kibble making. Like once you ko a higher lvl Theri you've already done most of the work, why not just tame it and see? If you on the other hand still have limited kibble, or god forbid are using mejo berries and on lower rates and btw theriz have really bad torpor drop...

    they sit in their cryopods

this is one of the main things that killed og ark in my honest opinion. It's why the beginner servers were like crack to me lol, which is where i tamed my few direbears btw

    , hard to knock out,

I had implied in my previous post I only tamed the one but thinking back I'm remembering taming one in a trap and taming one out in the open. I actually have a fonder memory of taming the one in the open cause trap taming is all the same, where as that direbear flying around the red woods like a bat outa hell was somethin else lol

Who ever said bears were good anyway? They have one purpose, getting honey.

Well, I for one have been told on occasion they are decent mounts. And if that is their purpose then it'd be nice if they survived long enough to fulfill it, not everyone wants to put a tame in a cryopod and only pull it for a single job.

Now for my anecdotal two cents. One of the few times I bothered to tame one myself, I kind of wanted to see what it could do so after leveling hp and melee with some notes, and going and getting my apprentice saddle from a box (which is what inspired the tame in the first place as I usually skip this tame)... I proceeded to take him into more and more dangerous situations culminating in him dying - if I recall correctly to a low level alpha raptor and a few other nasties in the swamp. At first I was very impressed with it, of course the death was not so impressive. It kind of left a sour taste in my mouth, and THUS to this day I've never even used one to get honey LOL.

  4. Unfortunately not at this time. For me was more a thing of shaky personal finances, at least initially. I could have finagled something, but just sat back with my metaphorical popcorn and thought to myself, I'm glad I don't have a pony in this show. Although I was kind of hoping my tribe would help me out with both my computer situation and also just buy the game for me. They may still do so, but with the rocky road at launch -they are less inclined -- I am still out.

also you get the bonus 50% taming on the baby, like the adult is lv 150, the baby will be 225 once claimed

i'm surprised no one has pointed out the most obvious benefit of taming the parent. the bonus levels it gets from the tame.

if there is a lvl 100 rex with a level 100 baby.  if you claim the baby its still lvl 100.  where as if you tame the parent it will get the bonus levels from the taming efficiency.

Uhmmm... well one of you is wrong visa v the level bonus being applied to babies.

I believe there is a distance thing related to that. If the baby is close to the parent then I have been unable to claim.

I think when you find a baby and are able to claim it with out having done something to its parents, it is because something else killed it's parents. I don' think there is a distance thing.

I'm not on asa to test any of this, just inferring from videos and texts i've seen.

i bought it and i actually regret it.... i should have waited untill the hype was a gone. I play only on PVE servers. Everything is full of pillars/foundations so the whole beach around the map is not playable. If you happen to have a little place of your own (like me) people bring wild dinos to your base so they can destroy it and claim your space also for pillars and foundations. People are also getting blocked off so they are forced to go away because everyone is placing foundations/pillars so you cannot expand and there are no resources respawning... on my map even carnivour isle was fully blocked with foundations nothing could respawn its a disaster.

On top of that servers are crashing every 30 min with a rollback of 15 min so you lose allot of your stuff for no reason...

Or i am unlucky with the map i choose to play on but the few hours i played on the map i saw people joining general chat asking if there was a pillar free space on this map so im guessing all maps are blocked atm with pillars/foundations.

In my opinion wait a few weeks before buying ASA so the hype has worn off and you can claim a bit of land for your own.

So... pve is still exactly the same. Q someone stating pvp is still pvp too? lol

  7. And are they like hidden some how? If I try to log in and just switch the browser filter over to unofficial, btw taking official outa there... lol. We get it. But anyways fliter switched and there is not much left. Like by default I only see about like... well actually rn exactly 155 in server browser, most with no one playing, a few with a handful. But i seem to remember a discussion about this before and like, they don't necessarily show up there? Is there popular unofficials?

  8. On ragnarok i have a nice starting routine, it starts with spawning at blue oby and leveling up a bit like to start getting a base going there where there is easy metal and upload download capacity, and the golden crates get me some nice tools. After that routine I'm high enough level to get my first tame which requires a certain amount of leveling you cant start and go get him at lvl one... so die respawn highlands, run up to my fav carrot patch, ....AND TAME MA HORSIE!!!

It seems like you might be joking, but that sound is how they let you know that you're taking a picture. It's meant to be the same sound that your phone uses when you take a picture.

I see. He wasn't telling me to take a screen shot of the sound he was saying i was already taking screen shots and that sound is a notification. Thanks for clarifying! :)
