SteamCMD servers 3 patches behind........Please push
Larkfields replied to FireBladeOG's topic in PC Server Administration
Don't worry about it... Let the official servers do some testing before the code is pushed out to unofficials 🙂 -
Please demonstrate how to do this !

Larkfields replied to NeutralReaver's topic in PC Server Administration
If you post your Game.ini and GUS.ini (without passwords), someone might be able to help.- 2 replies

Are transfers possible between unoffical maps on a cluster? I can upload dinos, but can't seem to download them - they just disappear. NoTributeDownloads=False PreventDownloadDinos=False PreventDownloadItems=True PreventDownloadSurvivors=True PreventUploadDinos=False PreventUploadItems=True PreventUploadSurvivors=True I have cluster ID set, and -NoTransferFromFiltering

Like you, I struggle to see how servers can cope with high numbers of players. The Ark server performance is dependent on CPU core speed. It doesn't use multi-cores, and doesn't use the GPU for any calculations. I've been seeing between 15 and 25 online players, with ok server performance on an 19-13900k ASA's Island was using 17GB RAM with 32 people online a couple of hours ago. Windows 11 pro - bare metal. ASE and ASA alone don't need to be in VMs. Individual maps might crash occasionally, but they don't take each other down.

I don't measure/record fps, so didn't feel that I could contribute, and I was waiting to see what other's experiences were 🙂

I have a password protected ASA map that works ok. The password is on the command line between question marks... ServerAdminPassword=xxadmin?ServerPassword=xxplayer?RCONPort=27272?QueryPort=27272

Thanks, I've added that id to my ban list.
-
Already did - but thanks anyway 🙂
-
That's what I do on both ASA and ASE.
-
Yes - but... Port and QueryPort use UDP. RCON is TCP. So you can actually use the same port numbers for QueryPort and RCON.
-
Turns out they didn't actually get admin rights... They managed to bring an admin gun in from single player thanks to a bug that's been shown on YouTube.

I'd say go for something that you find enjoyable. I've tried tinkering with settings to please others - but "vocal" players almost always leave the server quickly anyway. I think mods present a risk to servers. If the author stops making updates, or WildCard change something (like the major-version number) then mods can break and leave the save file unplayable or worse, unloadable.

Does the Ark Ascended server have a memory leak?
Larkfields replied to Larkfields's topic in PC Server Administration
Seems a lot better now - 11GB used with 20+ people online at 9pm last night. I'm hoping for even more RAM and CPU optimisation though 🙂 -
ASA server ignoring Port setting?
Larkfields replied to Larkfields's topic in PC Server Administration
Thanks @invincibleqc. Is there any way to request WildCard to add the port=x?queryport=x?RCONport=x command line options back in please? Editing ini files is ok for now, but it would eventually necessitate having an individual ini file per map. Assuming that option has been retained. Also: Do you know if -notransferFromFiltering has been implemented for ASA ? I'd like to enable uploads and downloads - but without the previous consequences. -
And again ! This is making life difficult for players on Unofficial 😞
-
Does ASA ignore the port setting? I have Port=7870?QueryPort=27070 on the command line, but the server is using port 7777
-
Hi All. Beware: someone joined my server last night and was able to become admin. I don't know how - my password is quite tightly controlled. They deleted a few bases and left again. WildCard - I have their player name and IP address if that's any use to you. I can send you their .arkprofile if you want it.

Larkfields replied to Larkfields's topic in PC Server Administration
Server version 26.11 - rebooted at about 6am (UK). 08:30, 7 people online. 14 GB RAM in use. 11:45, 23 people online. 20 GB RAM in use. 13:00, 27 people online, 22.5 GB in use. 18:00, 25 people online, 32 GB in use. 19:30, 32 people online, 35 GB in use. 21:30, 22 people online, 42 GB in use. That looks like a memory leak !
