  1. Action needs to be taken Wildcard. Duping is literally holding the players hostage on these servers, it's gotten so out of control that the offending parties don't even care if you see them doing it or not. While I don't doubt there are different nationalities involved in this venture, on our server we've got box tribes going HAM because Wildcard isn't doing anything to stop them. The game is unplayable during certain hours of the night and morning/early afternoon, the pattern is clear as it only happens at those times and our server community has nailed down who is logging on during these times via Battlemetrics. I find it highly unfair that these online dino sellers aren't being taken care of or that the legal team isn't shutting down these sites. I find it ironic that in this example, "The Chinese Government" is willing to sue over region locks but refuses to shut down these sellers and honor the CoC / ToS. One hand should be washing the other and as it stands, they get a free pass to ruin this game for everyone. This is exactly why I choose to give away dinos to people who need or want them while playing, I'd rather ruin their business model and combat their greedy, selfish and unacceptable business practices. Personally, I'd give my team a directive to at the very least stop the duping and start plugging those holes, get that sorted and then instead of trying to combat the Chinese or any other country's clearly abusive and manipulative stance by allowing everyone to sell dinos if they so choose. We need to kill their economic foothold in Ark.
  2. It would be epic if we could continue with the EVO rates while we're all in quarantine and isolation due to this annoying virus pandemic going on. It's a complete disaster around here in Florida and it just keeps getting worse daily. Businesses are shutting down left and right, grocery stores are picked clean. So here we are lol, non-stop Ark for 2 weeks or maybe even longer.
  3. Sure I could opt to play on unofficial servers, I used to run one, but here's the rub; you lose a much larger server community and the ability to interact and create friendships when you close yourself into a private server like that. Then you get to worry about admin abuse, extortion and other issues that arise when the server isn't "official." That's the point, you sacrifice an inherent responsibility by the studio to maintain the server and police their servers for stability which isn't a fair trade off. Beyond that, bugs/exploits aren't magically gone just because you aren't haunting an official server, the most you can really hope for is a much more stable server as private server owners tend to either pay for better performance upgrades, or have installed a set of superior server upgrades. Fun fact, I once was a developer in the game industry. Another fun fact, i have dabbled in unreal engine for a few years now and do have a very early survival game I've been plugging away at on and off for a few years now. Albeit I think it's moth balled and on an external somewhere. Point however is not to measure the length of my credentials with you, I don't post the things I do to be a hate monger, I post the things I do because there are standards that Wildcard should be upholding, and they just aren't. I don't think it's unfair to ask that they maintain their servers or at the very least, make sure their 3rd party server providers are taking care of them. Small game studio is fine, but if the players cannot actually enjoy the game, that defeats the whole purpose of development in the first place. I just don't understand why people can't see that point. I've tried to get my message across with honey, tried with sincerity, tried with anger and frustration, I just don't have the energy, time or heart left to worry about this title. If it sucks it sucks, if the game crashes it crashes, not my problem.
  4. You are right Uzo, to be perfectly honest, if this release isn't everything they promised or better, i will be hanging this title up, i've lost all faith in Wildcard, I'm tired of crashes and not being able to play, losing characters, losing dinos, losing progression, hackers/cheaters and the shenanigans. Enough is enough.
  5. The fact that you consider me the ignorant one is comical on many many levels, but I do appreciate the fact that you called me a Kiddo, considering I'm willing to bet its the other way around. Spewing filth? How about spewing truth, fact, verifiable, ironclad FACT. If you want to live in candy land with all your pals and dance in the meadow with your little unicorn pets that's on you, I however choose to point out the problems in an undeniable, factual, and pointed manner. You assume because I don't sugar coat what I say that I'm being unnecessarily venomous, on the contrary I think I'm being fair. How long have these issues been issue? How long must we wait for things to finally be put into a working order? I've play tested games for years and this one still feels like it shouldn't have been taken out of beta. It's players that have your particular attitude that would rather just sit and take it because they are either too lazy, unmotivated or genuinely don't care about their rights as a consumer and about the overall standards that a video game studio should adhere to. If you want to take cheap shots like you did initially, I'm more than happy to deal them right back at ya until I lose interest in listening to you defend mediocrity. Actually, you know what, the poster above us has a valid point, I've said what I needed to, I'm not really here to beat a dead horse, i'm here to keep it real, but at the same time i would love it if I could just see how this expansion launches under the hope that there won't be huge issues, game breaking bugs, exploits, server crashing, will that happen? Yet to be determined. Meanwhile I'll continue to watch the 2 servers I haunt continuously crash several times a day because that always inspires hope. Bygones and all that. Here's to hoping. P.S - That line about far more value being given is complete garbage. It doesn't matter if there's 300 awesome features included in a title if you can't friggin play it because the servers aren't stable. Counter-productive of building a game I'd say if players can't enjoy it. Just saying. And do some research, if you had any experience in development at all, especially in unreal engine and knew anything at all about how assets fit into that puzzle, you'd know that a great many of these so called features are pretty easy to plug in and use nearly straight out of the development gate.
  6. I bet you have a wildcard tattoo don't you? Maybe a portrait of Ced on your chest? LOL. When I refer to brown nosing, I refer to all those people out there who make a solid decision to ignore the issues the game has, instead focusing on gerrymandering for features and new content or to otherwise set their own agenda into motion. Rather than focusing on core principles that any respectable studio would want to follow. You can't play the game if the game servers won't stay up. You can't expect players who pvp to continue to support a title that allows bugs and exploits to ruin competitive pvp. You can't expect players who get their characters randomly deleted in transfer to want to keep leveling more. You can't expect players who lose entire dino collections to bugs/exploits/deletions to want to invest more time. You can't expect players to want to invest in a DLC if their prior experiences playing have been sub par. This isn't a flea market with a mystery bag labelled DLC. Players want to know what they are going to get. Yet for some reason many in this community shrug their shoulders and cop out with "It's just how Ark is." This game is based off the concept of investing time into building up dinos, resources, building warring factions, and it all takes significant time and effort. Sure we're not out there hammering rail spikes in the Sahara, but when issues critical to the gameplay and retention of loyal players get this bad, sitting on your hands and stapling your mouth shut isn't really an option unless you just like the abuse. What I see is a large majority of our community being complacent and just letting this company run us over with a steam roller citing behavioral trends the studio has had in the past. What needs to happen is the studio needs to be held accountable for their product and it needs to be given a stronger foundation to pile these new DLCs on top of with an at least stable platform and server infrastructure. But heck what do I know right, i'm just some dumb moron who doesn't know anything.
  7. While technically that's true, I don't flock anywhere, I'm here because I care enough to be a loud, blaring and annoying voice in these forums. However hiding behind the premise of "private servers are better" isn't any better, nor are the servers. No matter the rebuttal, there is simply no way to escape the truth and that is that the game is broken and needs to be fixed, period, end of story.
  8. I love how much brown nosing goes on in these threads, here's your pom poms, go do cartwheels in your basement and squeal "go team go." Here's the facts: #1 The Game has huge, gaping, immense issues that haven't been addressed in YEARS. #2 I don't give two @#$@ if nobody is perfect, this is a "professional" game studio, and their game should be polished by now. #3 Sure, Chris isn't the Dev to talk to, but by that immediate reaction, it should clearly point out that there are glaring issues and animosity for the Devs and studio at this point. #4 As a Dev, most companies refrain from letting them post in the community forums for a reason or drastically control what is said and how. Clearly that didn't happen here like it should of. #5 Nobody expects perfection out of any game studio, but aiming for stability and making a constant effort to keep it that way really needs to be a priority. If players in many cases can't even play the game then why aren't things getting fixed? Meh, i'm just disgusted at this whole thing at this point, I could go on for hours, but I think I'll just pull back and cover my eyes for awhile, occasionally peeking through the gaps in my fingers to see what happens next or just how badly this goes. DLC launch in 2 days.. This is gonna be a train wreck.
  9. @Chris I could go into a year long tirade on the CRAPTASTIC issues Ark has had just in the past 6 months, character deletions on transfers was a lovely one, happened 3 times to me personally and I know others in similar situations. Thousands of hours just @#$@'ed away by negligence on the part of Studio Wildcard. Or let's talk about server stability, this is the THIRD time since 9am this morning my FRIGGIN official extinction server has gone down, and guess what it's been down over an hour now, not coming back up it appears. And this happens EVERY DAY and lately more frequently than that. How do you expect any player with a speck of sense to get behind Wildcard when they can't even depend on the studio to keep their servers up and running smoothly? it's despicable, an embarrassment to any respected game studio, and an absolute disappointment to anyone who is playing, may have been considering it, or already did play it. Then you folks decide to shovel a big mouthful of "Give us money and play our DLC" when we're experiencing what we are currently with all the issues. I'd love to hear the logic behind how you are going to keep the servers up when the DLC launches, when you guys can't even keep that crap running on the oldest content half the time. Please, illuminate us, i'd love to hear some more empty promises or have smoke signals rectally injected as a party trick. Thank you so much for nothing. I'm tired of sitting here taking your company's crap, tired of a half arsed game, tired of terrible customer service, terrible servers, terrible decision making by Wildcard. Hell I'm just plain tired of it all. The only thing that even keeps me popping in once in awhile to my server, --- WHEN ITS POSSIBLE TO----, is the fact that I've got thousands of hours invested in dino collection and a few friends who still remain hopeful that one day Wildcard will pull their figurative head's out of their hind ends.
  10. Actually, server upgrades would help exponentially but it isn't just that, its also a matter of proper programming methodology, optimizations, ultimately a complete tear down and rebuild under a different server infrastructure that's going to be required to fix all these issues. Fact is that's an expense I'm relatively certain neither one of the owners of this title are going to approve. Just gonna have to face the facts, Ark is complete garbage at this point, live with it or leave I guess.
  11. ... * SIGH * ... Taming rates are once again not included.
  12. There was a time when release dates or targeted months for release were scripture, if a company said "December" then it dang well better happen in December, but that was a different time, a time where clever wording by legal teams wasn't so predominant, a time when companies didn't strip down their teams so thin to try and squeeze every creative drop of essence out of the few developers they have, a time when a title formed the community that would be supporting it and that community had the power to make or break the game and held the company responsible. Things have have clearly changed, or at least Wildcard would like you to believe they have. This trend however isn't something Wildcard invented, it's something many giants in the gaming industry have created and ultimately what we as gamers have allowed to take hold and spread. Fact is, I think 90% of us expected to be disappointed on some level, not because it's Wildcard per say, but because the way gaming has been just sets you up to expect that. I remember being just "giddy" about Battlefront II, it was supposedly going to be so much better than the original and I remember the roller coaster ride leading to nearly imploding the development due to the micro transactions they tried to slip into the game against the agreement. It's a dirty business with silver tongued devils, legal teams who find new ways to break rules, and corporate bottom lines. I really miss the days when the developers made games they stood behind, companies like Sierra took care of their developers and held to their word on things, but I fear we've all but lost those days.
  13. <-- Still butthurt that the event decorations don't STAY or can't be picked up after the event at the very least. Nothing makes me more willing to play a game like this then having the ability to decorate, christmas lights around the inside of the base was awesome even if the lights didn't glow or emit well enough, my wife and I both believe that sometimes its better to keep a little sprinkle of Christmas up all year round to remind us of happier times in our lives.
  14. Wow an actual currency system in Ark would be interesting, but it scares me to some degree as with currency comes many other evil corruptions to a seemingly simple system lol. Corporate greed, Gold Sellers, microooooo transactions. *faceplant*
  15. C'mon Cedric, you have got to be kidding right? Are we going to nostalgically skip along the yellow brick road of Ark development over the last few months or are you guys gonna actually show us something? You guys are beta testing the new map and system, record some video and throw it up on the darn site already so we can at least get a peek of what your doing, give us a little hope and a spark to relight the interests in what many are starting to feel is fruitless wait for an underwhelming finished product.
  16. I'm not sure they come after those who may have received duped dinos from other people, at least not without a full investigation and solid proof that you knew the dinos or gear were duped. There are some exceptions however to that statement, if you belong to a mega tribe and your tribemates are duping, it affects everyone if they get caught, but honestly, I have learned to only go with absolutely trustworthy sources, friends, and typically don't take actual dinos, i'll only accept eggs or bring a breeder to them to get eggs. I'd rather raise my dinos and know they aren't cheated dinos.
  17. For all you fix the game peeps out there: There's a place for this commentary, in the event announcement is not one of em. You wanna offer game suggestions, instead of whining about it, why not think about the problem, describe, and offer solutions in game suggestions instead. If you are gonna be critical, be helpful as well. Me personally, I'm a loud, obnoxious and annoying presence in these forums, but I'm also more than willing to offer up alternatives, thoughts and suggests to better the title. We wouldn't be screaming about fixing the game if we didn't care about the game that much, but ya gotta remember, the devs and Wildcard staff are people to.
  18. lmao all hope is lost as that's the link we've all been using for over 4 days! Ah well, it is what it is, might as well load up Skyrim and play through it again hehehe.
  19. Na-official-Valguero558 Crashing repeatedly over and over and over. Tickets have been flying into support for over 4 days, the server is repeatedly crashing with rollbacks ranging from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. It's literally unplayable. I know I know, nobody here can help, but dang it.. i moved here to escape the lag and mess on a Ragnarok official, it was great for a while, now it's even worse. /frustrated. I'm so just numb to this now, i just want a stable server to play on for God Sakes.
  20. As IF that was useful at all or hadn't already been done by over 40 active players from 558 already since 4am yesterday. Unlike most communities, our 558 community is in fact in communication with one another, and do have a solid community focus. Our discord has been set up since the beginning of Val. Getting tired of canned responses that we all know aren't going to help or expedite the painful process of poor customer service which Wildcard is becoming infamous for.
  21. P.S - Just an afterthought, why hasn't the player files been converted into a cloud based system? Seems to me, if you store the player files in the cloud, you'd mostly eliminate the character deletion issue on transfers, the player would simply choose the character they want to play, select the server, and upload to that server in real time. There are of course other considerations but all in all I think it would be much easier to handle.
  22. I'm just gonna throw this out here, while I certainly appreciate the effort of Wildcard to continue on with this title and I'm excited about the new stuff coming, I'd like to say a few things. Ark is a time sensitive game, it requires each player to babysit vigilantly to make sure things get fed, to make sure we are there for raising imprints, to make sure we are there for egg hatches. There are literally so many timers that to not dedicate several hours a day simply punishes the player. Something needs to be done to alleviate this if we cannot depend on the game servers and game client to meet the demands this game places on the player communities. This is a never ending issue with Ark, if its not technical issues with hardware then it's software, or it's untested or improperly patched code. The patching process I can semi-understand, when you introduce changes to any project, you are bound to get some un anticipated results, but this happens way way too often. Beyond the scope of what I just said, there's also the fact that we paid to "play." Nothing irritates me more than when I log on with my cup of coffee in hand to have what i'm hoping will be a productive yet enjoyable morning in my favorite game and find that something has broken overnight which again.. happens all the time. Granted, it does free up time to come into the forums and gripe. One of the most annoying things about this non-stop issue this morning is that we don't know what we can or cannot do. Players -can- connect to the server briefly before being kicked (if they have the toon directly on the server.) However the question remains if they should or not? Is it safe to transfer the toon quickly over to another official server? Is it safe to grab hours of our work and time and move it off server in case of a full on loss of the server? What are the guidelines when something like this happens? That's really what needs to be addressed. There's literally 20+ players sitting here staring at their screen unable to play because their main toons are all on the server that's having issues with no idea what's safe to do or not to do. Wildcard? Care to comment on this? It would be nice if we had some inkling of a clue as to what we could do to get the toons off the server so we can at least go do something in game. #frustrated #pleasegetthisfixed
