@Aushegun I sincerely apologise for my virus which I somehow infected you with. I know it's probably giving you a hard time. My advice is get plenty of rest. 

The race sounds like fun, I don't get the need people have to cheat or feel entitled to things. Maybe being nearly 40 has changed my outlook on life. I work hard for everything in life and if I can't have something then I'm ok with that.

Let us know how it goes next time it happens. The race not the virus haha.

Read the forums the constant complaints opted for vodka and coke. That's my day. Oh tamed a couple of thylas. Had to make post relevant.

@Cymas usually because I play along side my husband taming and working together I usually sacrifice my husband rather than my tames. You just made me aware of a different way of getting the same result. ?

Changes to setting are not cheating at all the game is designed to either make it harder or easier for you depending how you like it, what you have time for etc. Pretty much like any game that has easy or hard mode. The settings are accessible for that reason.

I do understand the intimidation, I remember a first map play through with default setting I had, I struggled to get decent level Dino's to fight the bosses. That's when I discovered breeding and mutations of stats. The mut colours matter little to me unless I'm breeding it in at the end for a finished look. 

I then found out I could turn up the difficulty of Dino levels and made life a bit easier on myself. Also a bit harder as I was used to easy tames I didn't know about correct/effective taming food and breeding or food timers etc back then. 

I would just get used to finding high rocks to shoot tranqs down onto a carnivore learn how they move etc before taking them on. 

Learn to build taming pens and taming rafts, I use a few different traps but prefer the stone gateway trap. Have a look at YouTube for traps ideas.

Either way as long as your having fun with the game there isn't any rush to complete one map or the next.

I'm sure others here have advice or pointers they too can offer if you need any and I'm not assuming you do. Just trying to share a few of my learning curves.

Best husband death yet in ark.. 6 vultures agroed on him flying my argy, carrying his newly tamed glowtail and a newly tamed thorny dragon.

They dismounted him with tames on passive due to recent taming of the thorny.. he died to a 145 vulture. He then returned and got 2 of my pteras killed in doing so, he took them to help recover his stuff and tames.

Followed by a ptera taming to which a megatherium killed him as he threw the Bola at it instead of the 145 ptera who was sat next to the megatherium. It ate him and his glowtail again argy just watched.  

He did nearly finish our base foundations. Whilst I sat wondering how he would die next.

Just one of those days. ?

I've never had it in 3 years or so but did Google for it and it has been an issue for ages. I guess I was just lucky before or maybe on single player it just wasn't a problem? Either way it's fine it was just an amused post.

First Dinos I ever died too was a dilo/manta tag team within minutes of my first ever play through.

I ran into the sea blinded by the dilo who was chasing me and nibbling my bum on the way out, to what I thought was safety at the time.

I then swam straight upto a manta who helped the afore mentioned evil dilo kill me by chewing off my face.

I'm sure many people have funny stories to share. @penno7429 what's been your most amusing death?

That's a good start. Get used to dying and just explore.

No tutorial is a good idea I'm sure with time you will enjoy it. No controls instructions. Press the start key on Xbox controller button with 3 lines on it the controller buttons are listed there. 

There is a wiki dedicated to ark with everything you may not know.  Updated regularly by players.

Watch a few YouTube videos syntac or phlinger phoo have some taming how to vids. I'm sure others do too but I don't tend to watch other people.

Logged in today and nearly died falling through my new treehouse foundation floors. Took a bit of damage then i went back up to it have it happen a second time. That's new to me. 60 health points left I limped off to sign out next to my tames.

I've never had my base try to kill me before. 

Only logged in to build a taming pen and find an anky.

So @AngrySaltire and i are planning our Val playthrough when it drops for console.. were trying to do something a little different to spice it up, as we did with Rag. We did no fliers at the start and before i grabbed any wyverns I had to steal eggs with a Pelagornis. Was fun and rewarding.

This time were thinking a true no fliers go. We kind of caved after a few weeks haha. Trying to get other cluster memebers on board but were asking for ideas from the thread. Weve done the whole 'no transfers' on Rag - lasted a few months actually. Was rewarding. Another server member is doing this and has thrown the idea of Primitive playthrough - but those cryopods are so nice so not entirely sure yet.

Any ideas?

I've lost my voice I want to do prim as does other half he has no choice haha . But that sounds mean he really does want to do prim!

Wow I got that tag wrong.. seeing myself out now. 

So yeah no wonder I've been super down can't play/focus etc. I got tonsillitis a week later a cold then I got strep. FML.

On the plus side I have time off work so all's good can just play ark and recouperate.

Building up on a pve server and really enjoying playing again thank you @Dink for recommendation and to @SaltyMonkeyfor letting me join in. Maybe this was a change I needed.

I'm really enjoying ark again even though I'm camping out in my PJ's with more meds than a pharmacy. No longer tethered on Xbox to a radius I can't escape from my other half of 16 years. Sometimes you just need to do your own thing. Haha

Wish I could understand a few things in game though like why the f do I always hit the wrong button when trying to escape an attack on low level flyer.. no panic brain opening your inventory at this time isn't needed. Neither is dismounting a passive tame the best course of action at that time.

I do have a couple of questions though we started on rag on a cluster server, I'm assuming we can travel back and forth between arks. If that's the case where would people find it easier to do some loot drops for the better ascendant loot? I did have a file on my broken laptop. Don't drop laptops is the only advice I have here.

It seems to be back now after force quitting Xbox. Very odd but back to it. ?

Played on server a bit more this morning. Tamed a 140 female trike. And other small animals moschops for eggs etc. Got my boat ready set sail to explore. Had my ptera for company logged out and went to work. Got home logged in and my game wants me to create a new survivor. So what should I do?

Just wanted to point out I'm not critisising any server I'm just not used to them yet.

Ok so not a fan of time out afk stuff with servers. Had to answer door took time delivery etc. Had to answer phone to co dependant husband lol see earlier comment. But I don't want to do it all again. So am just going to have a tantrum until I remember to sign out at those times. Haha 

Why would they even bother? A new player had much less why let them join to ruin chances of progression..  Instant farming? GAH people are why I don't like people. I know what I meant, it just sounds wrong.

He's my main general purpose bird, able to easily handle alphas, fly across the map and carry all of my gear at the same time. This is the second bird I decided to raise at somewhat the last minute, solely for mining and other heavy hauling tasks.

After I had my first bird raised I spent the whole afternoon and evening hunting, even took the rex out to clear yuty spawns since the bird can't do those. Came up completely empty.

On the bright side killing every alpha we saw netted me a whole collection of crossbows.

I'm also high enough level to saddle my yutys and made an industrial forge, which I haven't set up yet because I am considering building a mining outpost on obsidian mountain.

Honestly this "high hide" base design gave me a great idea for a snow biome base. I'm considering building it in creative mode mainly as a test. I'm getting to the point where I'm just tired of the mat grind for the types of bases I like to build, and since I already technically cheated this one in...I mean, I am doing everything else legit. We'll see how I feel about it I guess.

As far as where to go from here I admit I'm a little lost. I can't move forward without good tames, but The Island spawns have always been painful. It's not just finding high level rexes, it's finding any rexes...I remember when they were basically everywhere and now it takes work to find any at all. It is rather frustrating and this is why so many people like the DLC maps...

I feel your pain I always seem to get the better rexes on the mountain known as far peak on the way down the mountain leading to smugglers pass. South side of far peak is where I always find gigas.

What do you mean by high hide? Confused a little maybe missed some comments.
