  1. I would love if the same Dino can sport many variations or even sub-types with differing abilities. Like Feathered, Non-feathered. Ex: Rex, Raptors, Pterosaurs Sub-types (just an example): Allosaurus maximus (Saurophagax) being huge 13m long, but rare, has bleed but no pack bonus. In-fact, solitary or mate boost at max. More hp,dmg. Still Weaker than Giga/Rex. Weaker bleed effect than Giga Allosaurus fragillis (Allosaurus of North America) being medium 9m long, common, has bleed for only Alpha, works in pack. Less hp/dmg. Weaker bleed effect that Giga. Allosaurus europeus : Smallest Allosaur variant, rather fast with good stamina, weakest bleed & hp. Due to smaller size, can venture to caves easily & too big to be aggroed by Cave critters.
  2. I actually prefer more variety in Dinos in line with say more variety in cars & vehicles in the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series of games. The World looks more fleshed-out, more populated & more natural with lots of creature types. I can always play a Dino game like "The Isle" or "Path of Titans" if I want to have an ecosystem with less dino types and greater emphasis on each Dino. But from the perspective of atleast PvE, Creative & Singleplayer, and those are into Role Playing like me, I feel more Dino types & with a Tiered approach gives the game a lot more depth, a lot more things to do, a steady progression system. I would love to design a Zoo or a theme park or a "taxidermy" museum of sorts with so much diversity in Dino types. Regarding obsolescence, that would always be there and is part of progress. Again referring to the GTA example, in GTA Vice City, the MP5 makes all other SMGs obsolete & the Minigun practically makes the entire weapon roster obsolete. but we still like to use other guns because having just 1 or 2 gun would give a monotonous experience. Similarly, once we get the fastest & best handling racing car "Cheetah" (Ferrari Testarossa lookalike), we wouldn't really use any non-racing car like a "Sentinel", "Blista" etc for a race. But one may love to use an Infernus (fastest car, but very low durability) or a Phoenix (Pontiac Firebird) for role play or personal preference. In ARK 1, typically best Boss Army Dino on average is the Therizino or Rex. But people do use other Dinos for Army too like Allos or even Carnos. Again, More Diversity = More Freedom to choose & roleplay. Gives the game more longevity too.
  3. How about having Dino tiers Concept in ARK 2 ? You need a certain level & other unlock requirements to even be able to tame a higher tier creature. In this way, you can't simply tame a Rex at say level 50, this gives players more reasons to tame lesser dinos & has more RPG mechanics. For example, for Carnivore Dinos : Small Dino: Microraptor < Velociraptor < Deinonychus < Utahraptor Medium Dino: Dilophosaurus < Ceratosaurus ~ Carnotaurus < Megalosaurus < Allosaurus Apex Dino: Daspletosaurus < Saurophaganax ~ Acrocanthosaurus < T-Rex ~= Giganotosaur ~= Carcharodontosaurus Aquatic Dino: Irritator < Baryonyx < Suchomimus < Spinosaurus Roles they play: Small Dinos = Easy to maintain, fast breed, works in pack. Medium Dinos = Allrounder, can use pack buffs & specialist weapons to kill Apex. Apex = expensive to maintain, needs a lot to tame/train etc. Can scare Small Dinos. Aquatic = Marine mounts, great if you want to explore the sea/rivers and also on land. There can be a system where small , medium, apex & aquatic all have their uses like say in a RTS like AOE : Mythology where Greek Hoplites are useful even after unlocking the best Mythological creatures like Chimera, Colossus. I am sure ARK 2 can fit more dinosaur types being a next gen game.
  4. Its not something I did for today but something that I had planned for a REALLY long time, a full museum & its video as follows ... This video will be a guided tour of my museum consisting of all 21 artifacts, 32 trophy heads & 10 boss flags upto Crystal Isles DLC 2020. - Artifacts are placed in floor tiles which are color coded based on their map of origin. - Trophy Heads placement in wall is also according to map of origin - Flags are placed with respect to each other based on which one will be given to player first according to story lore. As an OCD completionist, building this gave me a lot of joy. This video & museum is actually the 1st building/part in a series of museums, the others being taxidemy where I am putting up Prehistoric & Fantasy based facts as Commentary.
  5. With great joy, I present to you what I did TODAY. Yes, I beat Ugly Head SOLO on Official Difficulty. Rockwell became Rock-unwell after I crashed his tentacular party. Here is the video ... Hope you guys Learn & Enjoy from the video ...
  6. I did this. Made a really beautiful Modern Adobe Villa on Scorched Earth for me, something I have been wanting to do for a long time. I actually posted the Base tour video today but it took me 2.5 weeks of grinding & drawing designs on A4 paper sheets to make this a reality. Yes, it is 100% Legit; no GCM or spawning stuff since working towards a goal & achieving it makes it satisfying rather than cheating it in. Features: - Full of soothing greenery with a Gazeebo - 100% Wind zone hence electricity always ON & no need of generators - Situated outside of Green Oasis hence - beautiful scenery - easy access to fish meat, Silica pearls & water - close to Mantis & deathworm spawn areas - Safe zone. No Large predators are close by like Wyverns/Rexes/Yuty etc I also show my Dinos including my Phoenix( my very 1st Phoenix tame in 4 yrs), Rock Elemental & my Boss killer Skeletal themed Rexes. This is my last video on Scorched Earth Map. I'm moving to Aberration next where I have even grander plans( :)) . Thank you to Aaron Longstaff, Captain Fatdog, The Pilgrimz Project for their excellent tutorials which inspired me to do this. Thank you Big Time to my Dearest Wife for all the motivation & inspiration.
  7. I completed my Island base, after over a month of planning & grinding AND I got the Perfect Explorer Achievement getting 100% all the explorer notes & dossiers on Island. Yes, I am a OCD completionist. Form meets Function & my Island base is located IMO in the best place on the map, close to all resource spawns & important dinos, just over the East Water Cave. A fully colored, fully functional base whose design I think can be used as example for PvE Solo, PvE Small tribes, Singleplayer. I made this video of my achievement, which explain in detail, the who/what/why of all tames I have, the base design, my color philosophy etc all of which serves as a tutorial for completing Island map with no stress. The hard thing was doing without any admin commands which I feel proud about, searching for all the explorer notes & grinding resources. Now, I will finally move to Scorched Earth ? .
  8. It was the most awaited day for me since today I finished my complete 200+ creature taxidermy museum on Extinction enclosed by full Tek tier base. It was on Extinction so getting lots of Element, polymer(Corrupt nodes) & Metal was no problem. From island to Aberration, I always wanted to do that extravagant thing, but never got a chance due to resources like Black Pearls/Element being rarer. So, when I started Extinction & then the homestead patch came up, I decided to make my dream a reality. This would be a fitting end, a worthy finale to probably my all time 2nd favorite video game & my favorite in past 16 yrs. (My fav game is from 2003) All of Ark's 200+ creatures taxidermied, all 24 trophies & all 20 artifacts in one gigantic TEK base museum. Being a huge dino nerd & always wanting to be paleontologist when I was a kid, I had learnt a lot, really a lot about dinosaurs & prehistoric life. SO, I decided to make a video of it where I look at a taxidermied creature & comment on facts & other general knowledge about it. Its also my 1st ever commentary video on any platform (not just youtube & fitting that it was for a great game like Ark). For example, Allosaurus(my profile pic here) had two subspecies, the common 9.7m Allosaurus fragilis & the gigantic 13m Allosaurus maximus (which is 1m longer than even a T-Rex). Or that Coelocanths lived from age of dinosaurs & are still alive. OR that the Aberration fantasy Roll Rat was taken from the real life Mole Rat which is blind & buries underground etc etc. Here's the video link. PS: This is probably my best video. So, I know I'm promoting this here, but it would really make my day if you guys like it & subscribe. I am starting out on video making & all, so any help in any quantity is much appreciated. Thanks in advance
  9. Today is a historic day for my Ark Solo Playthrough. Finally, I completed Ascension on both Beta & Alpha on the Island Map. I did not use any cheats except admin commands to increase gamma, speed up time using slomo & "ghost" when I get glitch stuck on surfaces. But, to make my life easier & to avoid the frustration & agony of losing my favorite Dinos, I had started my Solo playthrough with settings slight tweaked from official. My settings are: Max Dino Level 240 ie: difficulty = 8x (official is 5x at 150) Increased gathering/harvesting rates. Imprint quality up to 100%(default is 20%) Completing Ark Solo no-cheats with official settings is IMO impossible since Alpha Dragon, Brood & Ascension is impossible. Same with King Titan. So I made the changes to make it at-least possible, though extremely tough. I am posting my Boss Fight(Gamma to Alpha to Ascension) videos on Youtube at the below link. If you don't like it guys, just tell me where I messed up. If you do, please leave a like. I won't monetize my youtube channel coz I'm an amateur hardcore gamer & I play for fun & escapism only. Here's the link to my Playlist: PS: I haven't yet uploaded my 1080p 60FPS Beta/Alpha Ascension videos but will do so in a day or two. Right now, I'm super-duper excited about cross ARK transfer to Scorched Earth. Believe me, even with my server stats, Beta & Alpha Overseer fights were long & hard. EDIT: I have uploaded Beta/Ascension Tek Cave & Overseer videos. They were completed on the same day, I made this comment but I had to edit the video on the following day due to office work. Anyway, Tek Cave is easy. Only Gigas & Allo Gnash are a danger. But Overseer on Beta & Alpha make liberal & excess use of their stun-lock beams. In fact, on Alpha, if you check out my video, I was hiding behind the pillars & distracting the drones the entire time as the stun-beams were like every alternate second. Fight was scarier than Alpha Brood or any Dragon fight.
