A Developer's Disgrace, Broken Promises & Buggy Releases
TonyTempah replied to Thonian's topic in General Discussion
Well, player count doubled for Extinction launch but was still only half the number when ASA launched. I would wager that most of these players have already paid for the game plus DLCs so no new revenue, only extra costs. At this rate we might not see the other maps let alone Ark 2. -

"The oracle told me that the Game of the Year 2025 is going to be made by a studio who found the formula to make it up here on stage. It's stupidly simple, but somehow it keeps on getting lost. A studio makes a game because they want to make a game they want to play themselves. They created it because it hadn't been created before. They didn't make it to increase market share. They didn't make it to serve the brand. They didn't have to meet arbitrary sales targets, or fear being laid off if they didn't meet those targets. Furthermore, the people in charge forbade them from cramming the game with anything whose only purpose was to increase revenue and didn't serve the game design. They didn't treat their developers like numbers on a spreadsheet. They didn't treat their players as users to exploit. And they didn't make decisions they knew were short-sighted in function of a bonus or politics. They knew that if you put the game and the team first, the revenue will follow. They were driven by idealism, and wanted players to have fun, and they realized that if the developers don't have fun, nobody was going to have any fun. They understood the value of respect, that if they treated their developers and players well, the same developers and players would forgive them when things didn't go as planned. But above all they cared about their games, because they love games. It's really that simple." -Swen Vincke, Larian Studios P.s. I know that the only Wild Card representatives that read the forums are the unpaid mods (and bless them for doing so) but, this needed placing somewhere on WC property.

Easy way to be certain is to pick up a stone. You should get 2 for every pick up.

Why the Araneo wasnt made like a real "creepy" spider?
TonyTempah replied to MADxHAWK's topic in General Discussion
Cosmos look a lot like Ladybird spiders which are tiny and cute but are probably deadly predators. Just very smol, deadly predators. -
Revert to original scope for Cryo balls in PvE. Ark loads quicker since recent updates. Ark is crashing less. This is progress. Still lots to address but progress never the less.

Is asa pvp doomed? Fixed it for you All valid points and plenty agree with you. Business priorities are the animated series, cosmetic and premium mods. Devs are fixing stuff but rarely stuff that most players are concerned about.

Suggestions to Improve Ark and Restore Its Competitiveness
TonyTempah replied to arthurtg2001's Suggestion in Game Suggestions
If this is the one message that gets through where all others have failed, we'd all be very happy. Sadly, I fear it will join the other posts on a similar vein. However, There are a few things that MIGHT indicate that there is some hope. 1) Reversing the policy on Cryoballs completely for PvE and partially on PvP. 2) Coms on development from Jeremy Stieglitz - (4) Jeremy Stieglitz on X: "Think we gonna add support in ASA for custom-hairstyles + custom-emotes in a similar manner to the existing custom cosmetics mods, so they won't need to be installed server-side & will dyna-download to other clients when witnessed. Gonna take a bit to prep, probly a Jan thing." / X 3) The interactions between Raasclark and WC in the recent afterlife event. When a community manager is laughing at memes articulating the communities dissatisfaction with the Devs, this means that they know we are dissatisfied. With concurrent player count still in decline, any other business would want to address this and make change. If there is a future for ASA, it has to change soon and MAYBE what I have listed above is a start. -
If this was only a Microsoft thing, the same problem would manifest in other xbox/wpc games, which it doesn't or at least I haven't seen any evidence of. It absolutely is a Microsoft thing as far as ASA is concerned but, if other dev teams can resolve this then it would imply that WC could as well. Unfortunately, this does not appear to be a priority.

Welcome back, I hope you stay. We are still in a pre optimisation stage with ASA so your experience with stuttering is not uncommon. We were teased with a major graphic update this Autumn but this has since been pushed back which, if you played ASE, is standard practice. Depending on which map you are on you can turn of Volumetric fog and cloud with commands which helps.

Did ASA adopters get their monies worth?
TonyTempah replied to DirkInSA's topic in General Discussion
I think one of the really big problems with Genesis was the poor implementation of missions. It was a good idea but very frustrating to do. Maybe this element can be served by Club Ark. As for monies worth, hours played verses cash spent for me makes this better value than all but Baldur's Gate 3 and Warframe (I spent cash in game). However, I am not typical or even normal! It would be useful to survey all those that bought ASA and are not playing now to know why but, that is not likely to happen.
