  2. Name: Giant Bison Species: Bison longicornis Time: Pleistocene Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Territorial Wild: Traveling in massive herds for greater pastures, the largest bovine in existence is a sight to behold. With their massive pair of horns, they are known to be aggressive chargers and capable of goring any predator willing to challenge them including wolves and bears. Their large bodies capable of withstanding the harshest winters with their ever-growing pelts, making them durable enough to resist freezing to death. Taming: Extremely sought for their pelts, horns, and the rich bovine milk, taming a Bison isn't as easy at it looks. Many tribesmen attempt to bull-ride in hopes to tire them out and begin feeding them when they aren't wide awake. Beware getting bucked off, I've seen many tribesmen knocked out with that heavy bull kick to the face. Some get gored if unlucky enough. Domesticated: Once they are tamed, this of course unfortunately attracts every now and then random predators who want to raid your livestock and eat them all. The milk produced by the females gives any baby animal being raised a quite needed boost, potentially can be warmed up in an cooking pot for a special buff against the cold weather. With their hulking bodies, they offer extra warmth and can carry weight much like modern ox. Like modern cattle, their feces is much more potent fertilizer often referred to as "cow pie" that gives crops a boost of extra harvest. ARK Meta: Combat: Built in with a charge mechanic similar to Triceratops and the Woolly Rhinoceros, the Bison could impale its victims into their horns and gore them to bleed out, as well a herd buff to boost their strength with mate boost activated, dealing extreme damage. Crippling debuff inflicted on players and dinosaurs if it successfully charges. Utility: Another farm animal for the common PVE (or RP) players who would love a cow in ARK (like the ones in Atlas). Bison milk in turn could be cooked warmly to drink as an insulation buff against the cold, or fed to babies, especially baby Wyverns who require milk themselves. When Bison defecate, they drop a special feces called "cow pie" which is much better than other dinosaur feces, and more efficient, sometimes giving the crops a boost of extra harvest. With a unique cart or wagon saddle, depending on the type of saddle chosen affects how the player how much weight they can carry back and forth from point A to point B with more speed. The amount of Bison needed for the type of cart or wagon saddle affects not only speed, the weight and the mobility of the mini-wheeled base. Bison Milk - Like other bovines, Bison can be milked for their nutritional sweet baby food. If fed to warm blooded babies, the calcium would help them grow much faster than normal than any other food if given the proper care. Can be substituted for any food a baby might require care such as kibble. Bison Milk Cheese - A crafting recipe requiring Bison milk, a very delicious cheese with a very wild yet sweet taste. Who knows what else it could offer? Raids: Having a livestock of these Bison will eventually lead to many predators wanting to assault your base to eat your beef, much in the same manner as how the Corrupted attack Element Veins/OSDs or the Nameless harassing you if you don't have a charge pet. You will have to turn full on cowboy to keep them at bay every now and then. FJORDUR: - Useful in colder areas, especially Jotunheim, the bison's thick fur pelt will keep the player protected from the dangerous sub-zero temperatures and deter off any nasty wolves or bears who dare come too close. - Major harvester if on a trip on foot to harvest metal or wood, or various other resources, depending on the cart or wagon saddle will speed determine the rough terrain. - With predatory dinosaurs and other animals wanting to eat your livestock, you could either use this to your advantage to lure a high level carnivore or simply farm experience from killing them all.

  3. It's really such a shame. WC has been building their brand and reputation with the creativity and skills of everyone on the team working at the company for the past 7 years. As well as inspiring others in the community to contribute. I have been one of them. A diehard supporter since the beginning. In all those 7 years, Ark / WC has been a good place. A neutral place and there was harmony, never having to get politics involved. Not once. With the beginning of June this year, it's becoming more and more clear that there is either new management at WC, or the old bosses just don't care about community anymore since they've milked profits from Ark 1 as much as possible. So now they've decided to throw their reputation in the trash by becoming political and voicing opinions when they shouldn't have one. Individually, that's fine. People are allowed to have opinions. But publicly, as a company, no. If someone new is in charge and making their voice the companies, then I hope they get removed, before it's too late. I know I've lost a ton of respect for WC recently which is a real shame considering I believed a job there was a true dream job, just a short time ago. All this political talk, and not even a single bit of news regarding the summer bash event. It's really a shame what things are coming to.

  10. Welcome to my post! I hope you enjoy my concept and ideas, based on the oldest insect known, the Rhyniognatha! It's meant to add an original style of creature by using a type almost fogotten in ARK, the insects! It's also a way to make the sky more dangerous even if you already tamed a flying mount! Also, once tamed, it turns into an end-game mount! I'll elaborate with these images about its design, skills, motorcycle saddle, among other stuff! Please feel free to share your thoughts, or suggest any change or feature in the comments! Even if several features are removed, I'd be happy if it keeps the air-water versatility and the motorcycle saddle. The main purpose of this creature is to make ARK's skies actually dangerous and to make an all-terrain stylish mount! Also the art took me a lot of time...

  15. Introduction! Hey all, Welcome to my creature submission for Fjordur! You can read what I wrote below for the full Dossier text, along with some extra information, and a viewable Dossier that I myself along with two artists created! Credit largely goes to them Myotragus Dossier Text Wild On the surface, Myotragus sensorem looks like a regular mountain goat. Upon closer inspection however, this creature is a lucky thing to come across. In the wild, Myotragus sensorem is passive, though defensive when attacked. Myotragus are capable of scaling the steep slopes of the mountainous regions. This verticality, combined with their high fortitude when in the presence of certain resources, makes them a dangerous foe if they are attacked in areas containing high quantities of materials often useful to survivors. The sharpened horns of Myotragus allow them to pierce the flesh of creatures and survivors alike, causing them to bleed. Combined with this, Myotragus are about as large as an adult survivor. Thus, it is wise to avoid violent confrontation with Myotragus unless necessary. Domesticated Perhaps the most unique capability of Myotragus is its strange propensity to sensing various local resource deposits along with creatures in a given area. Tribes have found that upon showing Myotragus specific resources, it will point its human companion in the right direction. While Myotragus are not effective gatherers on their own, they have the unique ability of having an easier time carrying the resources which they can sense. This makes them efficient at helping survivors find resources to then carry back to their encampments with ease. The unique jump-height, verticality, and weight carrying capacity of Myotragus, combined with its ability to sense local resources, makes it an excellent companion to have in these harsh lands. Utility With the Dossier out of the way, let's get into the details of the Myotragus. This goat has the utility of 'sensing' resources, but also creatures in a given area. My pitch, is that the radius of this sensing ability can be extended via level-ups, or it could be tied to level in some way. Also, when a Myotragus spawns, it could work similar to the Gacha on Extinction, where it has special capabilities with a random set of resources. The gacha can create those resources, but the Myotragus can instead be able to sense them and carry them with weight reduction. A list of resources may include the following: Raw Metal Obsidian Crystal Gems Oil Sap Sulfur Silica Pearls Black Pearls Fungal Wood Raw Salt Then, the second utility ability of the Myotragus could be that it can similarly sense a random set of creatures, somewhat like the Parasaur but from a much greater distance, only sensing Wild creatures specifically. In my eyes, this can act like a vanilla replacement for mods like S+ that help you track down creatures by just typing their name in. The Myotragus instead can be a balanced approach to this. It would encourage taming lots of them if each one could have drastically different preferred creatures, perhaps 5-8. This way, if you wanted to find one creature or another, you would pick your tamed goat which is especially fond of that creature, and journey out into the lands of Fjordur. Third, I would suggest that the Myotragus can track down Explorer Notes, much like the Direwolf. Except instead, they could detect them from a much larger range. Perhaps tying into a level-up ability increasing the range? As a player who very much enjoys collecting notes for the satisfaction, having this creature on any other map would make it so much easier. Lastly, Myotragus could be a second source of Mutton, as currently the Ovis is the only creature which can be harvested for such meat. That said, I would suggest making the yield from mutton far lower than Ovis, so that it still has dominance in the field of harvesting mutton. Perhaps for every 10 Raw Mutton an ovis grants, the Myo only gets 1-2. The following resources could be obtained from harvesting Myotragus: Raw Mutton Hide Pelt Combat The Myotragus is perhaps most comparable to the male Megaloceros, except both male and female Myotragus have horns. Beyond the sensing ability of the horns, they are also sharp and can deliver serious bleed damage to opponents. In the wild, Myotragus act similar to Pachycephalosaurus, where they will not attack unless provoked. Overall, nothing immensely special, but the Myotragus can deliver enough damage to defend itself and fight off any would-be attackers. It could also be said that Myotragus get buffed when near the creatures that they have a fondness towards sensing / seeking, giving them an actual damage and resistance buff. Perhaps this could be applied for both wild and tamed creatures of the specific type that it likes. Travel Lastly, the goat can be great for traversal, and here's why! As shown in the Dossier, the suggested ability of Myotragus is to be able to walk up very steep surfaces. It does not have to be as extreme as the example shown on the left-hand side in verticality, but it could be comparable to the ability of the Tek Boots, allowing you to go up much steeper cliffs than most creatures, or than how you could as a Survivor on foot. Myotragus could have decent stamina, a fantastic and large jump-height (as seen in goats in the real world), and take far reduced, or perhaps no fall damage whatsoever. Taming Taming Myotragus is a somewhat difficult task, and requires a fairly wide variety of resources. First, survivors must drop a resource on the ground near Myotragus in order to test if their horns indicate that they are excited. After isolating which resource(s) do this, survivors can then drop the resource on the ground (much like with Gachas), which causes the Myotragus to get very excited, and pick up / carry the item, using its horns. After a certain amount of time, the Myotragus will feel like picking up more of its favorite resources, but if it is given the same one repeatedly, the taming effectiveness will go down. Conclusion I hope you like my pitch! Please upvote the Myotragus if this is a creature that appeals to you, and you want more unique mechanics! We don't quite have anything in the base game that can 'track down' specific resources or creatures like this, and so I'm really into this idea!

  21. Yeah agreed, after "Wild Card" deleted my full gen 1 and gen 2 missions and refused to restore them. I decided it was time to quit the game and have been happily playing bug free games for months!!! I'm enjoying othewr games because that cant be deleted because other companies have backup contingencies and restore lost data. Wild Card staff are amongst the scummiest incompetent people on the planet. No care for customers, no care for customer data, very happy to let data get deleted and just close tickets. Thats the kind of scum Wild Card is.

Srsly, can't tell you how many times my eyeballs got burnt out of their sockets looking at the ever blaring bright white of the other one. UGH. Roe v Wade: I'm super saddened by some of these comments I'm reading about the roe v wade thing. I think some of these people need to find a new game and new community. Ark and WC have always been pretty open about their politics and what they support, especially with the united states being such a dumpster fire right now. As a Canadian, I'm sorry you guys are going 50 years back into the past, and I'm watching closely to see what rights of yours they will be taking away next because the supreme court made it very clear, they want to take away a lot more. Honestly, it shouldn't be a law in the first place. This is plan old personal health care.

  24. This is simply hilarious! "Welcome to another Community Crunch. Soon we will tell you about some things. No Evo. Bye" Seriously? Sooo..... no info? At all? Nothing about the transfers being opened? It's been 2 months (Dec 14th + 2 months = Feb 14th) and as 2 months is now the time period servers remain closed for after their release people are expecting to see them open. OR JUST SOME SORT OF HINT ABOUT WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN WOULD BE A MARKED IMPROVEMENT OVER THIS! Honestly, the continuation of this farcical "weekly info update" is now nothing more than: "Hey, here is yet more stuff people have done that we have had absolutely nothing to do with but will use to pad out the complete nothing it has taken us a whole week to not do". The fact that someone really does get paid actual money to avoid doing anything other than repost fan-art is genuinely shocking.

  26. My submission for the next Ark vote is Titanoceratops scutigerulus, a massive powerhouse of a ceratopsian capable of easily destroying defenses, breaking through metal dino gates like a battering ram, ignoring all placed traps, and fighting off Ark’s deadliest theropod the Giga. Through a labor of love I’ve designed not just a dossier but actual in game quality concept art for this animal. Abilities: It’s main two damage abilities are dealing high amounts of damage to both creatures of higher drag weight (scaling up as the drag weight scales) and dealing high damage to gates and doors up to metal behemoth gates. The trade off for dealing damage to metal is that it must consume raw metal (around 5 to 10 metal per 5 seconds, it allows for a 30 second window to damage metal and has a cool down that lasts for around a minute) through a stance change that makes it slower as a trade off similar to the Magmasaurs’s smelting ability minus the smelting. While it does mediocre damage to metal structures in this state it does high amounts of damage to doors and dino gates making it effectively a battering ram. As for it’s Giga slaying abilities, it will be able to resist it’s gnash and deal higher damage to it than other creatures due to it’s increased drag weight damage. It’s also particularly well protected from the front having a high damage resistance to both it’s frill and legs, this paired with the anti bleed effect and high health make it a great defense against Ark’s largest and deadliest theropod. It’s other prime function is acting as a tower shield for large dinos up to the height of a rex, it’s great for effectively tanking huge amounts of bullets and explosives with little damage. In addition when multiple Titanoceratops are near they gain a herd buff that increases the damage resistance and gives a buff to nearby saddleless dinos, it however does not effect dinos with natural armor like the Reaper and Shadowmane. It can also pivot in place similar to a Rock Golem allowing it to defend against attackers from any angle. Other major abilities of the Titanoceratops are the resistance to all placed traps such as bear traps or spike walls, explosives placed on the ground also deal less damage to it. When the herd bonus is active the eyespots on it’s frill appear and light up similar to the plate change on the TLC Stego. The rider sits on a saddle latched onto the back of it’s frill allowing for a high vantage point across the battlefield (I’m still toying with the concept of adding a second rider on it’s back as a protective gunner). As for gathering it’s a fairly basic gatherer of wood, thatch, and berries but has a very high weight and health making it a good safe pack animal. The specific attacks are a horn swing that does a high amount of damage, a “stance change” that transitions it into it’s metal damaging mode, and a short ram attack that thrusts the animal forward for a high knock back attack good for pushing away enemies and damaging doors. Wild: Titanoceratops can be found around mountainous regions usually around high concentrations of metal either alone or in a small group, they are fairly peaceful unless provoked or attack similar to Dire Bears. They can easily contend with many of the region’s predators like rexes and sabertooths although they are ignored by most small predators. They will ignore you while wearing ghillie however they will become aggressive if approached too closely. In the wild they also cannot damage metal but can damage stone structures. Taming: In order to tame a Titanoceratops you need either a catapult or cannon to knock it out, likely on the back of a Paracer or placed in a trap. They’re not difficult to kite as they’re not very fast so that can be a good and less expensive option but for those looking for a trap they need to use metal structures, bear traps are ill advised as they essentially destroy them while walking over them and completely ignore it’s effects. As for taming food you will need Exceptional kibble or various crops and berries, they need a lot of food and Narcotic so pack a fair bit as this tame can wake up fairly quickly. Once tamed they will act as a beast of burden, a powerful siege beast and living battering ram, a counter to various large creatures including Gigas, and potentially a boss fighter. Weaknesses: While the Titanoceratops is exceptionally powerful it has it’s drawbacks, it can only fit through behemoth gates as it’s size is on par with a rex or mammoth. It’s particularly slow and while it can turn in place it still can’t out turn the faster mounts like raptors, in addition it’s a very slow swimmer and is not advisable to use around wet environments. It’s backside is also fairly unprotected, even with a saddle hitting it from behind will deal massive amounts of damage to it. It’s also very vulnerable from above and can be taken out by fliers with ease. The rider perched on the high saddle is vulnerable to being grabbed by fliers and to sniper fire, being a particularly easy target. It’s also fairly weak to fire weapons, flamethrowers, fire arrows, wyverns, and fire pitch catapults will deal lots of damage to the creature more so than others. Final Notes: I wanted the Titanoceratops to fill the niche other ceratopsians in Ark should have filled, Trikes and Pachyrhinos are particularly weak in game and it bothers me that such powerful animals are ignored in favor of carnivores. I wanted a ceratopsian that could defeat carnivores without breaking a sweat and being large powerhouses players would use late game. These animals in real life were strong enough to fight off tyrannosaurs and were true spectacles of both raw power and incredible diversity, they were truly the most impressive ornithischians to have existed. I also wanted to suggest a powerful and impressive creature that people would enjoy, something both striking and utterly massive. It was also a chance to flex my art skills at designing an Ark creature with both accurate anatomy and the signature Ark style. I have talked in the past about possibly applying for a job at Wildcard as a creature concept artist and wanted to prove to myself that I was able to design something both devs and players would enjoy, I do not think I will apply as I still have a lot of learning to do however this experience has been quite a trip and I am happy that I got to share my labor of love with this wonderful and creative community. I hope you all enjoy and if there’s any suggestions or ideas for this leave them down in the comments. OnFire944 made a short video with a size comparison between it and the other ceratopsians in game, it’s a really nice short video summary on some of this creature’s abilities. I highly recommend you check it out. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P_uziSb-umk&feature=youtu.be

I play video games to get away from politics, because I'm tired of hearing it, it divides the country and creates hate. Now I don't care if individuals Express their views, but as a dinosaur video game company, leave the politics out if it. You wrote a big article about political views that has nothing to do with your game but no information that people want, like summer bash details. Get your head out of politics and back in the game. We don't wanna hear it. Also, in case you haven't realized, you have fans Ann's players on both sides if the subject, catering to one side is a terrible business move. 30. Thanks for chipping in on the reproductive rights dialog, Wildcard. It means a lot and the whiners make it really clear why it's important. To those whiners: Ark is made by people. People care about things. At a rate even higher than the already large majority of the US electorate that wants Federal protection of reproductive rights, people who make games and tech things in general want women's bodily autonomy respected. If that makes you uncomfortable and you don't want to support the game, that's fine and that's your choice — just as it's theirs to speak out. But while you're at it, be sure you aren't using a phone or the Internet, as Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and a great many others stand equally opposed to this appalling regression in women's rights (and erosion of due process that presages who knows how much more). You're quickly going to find a very scarce range of products to choose from as it turns out there aren't many people who think this is a good thing. And that's why it's important that Wildcard and everyone else do their parts to speak up. Silence is assent or at least a "no contest," and anyone with a voice needs to speak up before that's taken away, too.

  31. I honestly don't care how strong you feel about anything or that level of hysteria, nothing has really fundamentally changed other than that an overarching government has had their wings clipped in favor of state rights as it always should have been. You are a gaming company and I can guarantee you a large chunk of your customer base is on the other side politically to you, I find it interesting how willing you are to alienate them by overestimating your influence on any of your customers. I don't think more than a tiny fraction if that cares to know anything about your political leanings or affiliations. I don't care what the politics of my grocery store is or my utilities provider, my barber or any service provider including a company that makes a game I enjoy. I'm sure if a company started flaunting conservative views the "they can do what they want with their bla bla bla" guys would turn around faster than the speed of light.

  38. Please give this a read if you've EVER played PvP on PC servers... This is being typed by someone who has been a loyal and passionate player of the ARK games for years and years like most. Have been a part of multiple communities within the sphere of ARK including PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC including all Official, Unofficial, Offline, Single Player, Small Tribes, and even NoTame servers. For an overwhelming majority of the part, my friends and I have enjoyed ARK more than any other video game we have ever played. It's an incredibile game that has been sustainably upgraded throughout the years. Even the issue of duplicating items on Legacy servers was fixed mostly with the new servers rolling out a few years ago. My main point with this first section is to explain that we have been playing the game for a while. Where I see a major issue is with the PC gameplay on PvP servers. The issue of using .ini files to modify gameplay has completely ruined the game for a large majority of players and some don't even realize it. The .ini files people use to put into the game data remove rocks, bushes, trees, etc. sometimes entirely and some even go as far as removing the opacity of water entirely. Let me tell you about my experiences. When I played on PS4, which was most of my time initially, I had a blast. The game was fun, balanced, and was genuinely a fun activity to plan on having available after work. I could get on with my buddy (this was right when wingsuits were released) and we could fly around The Island and stand a chance against larger tribes because we could hide in the forest. Being able to see someone hiding within a bunch of shrubbery, bushes, etc. is a feature that should entirely be available to users in the late-game process. Tek, Bloodstalkers and other methods should 100% be available to do so. Here is where I see a major issue. When I made the joyous swap to PC, I was super excited to experience ARK on a better scale. Better inventory management with mouse/keyboard, better graphics, and better FPS. But when my friends and I swapped over to PvP servers, the issue of these .ini files have arisen. We would have players with Wyverns, etc. able to see us immediately because the only thing they would see on their end is a tree trunk. They would not see bushes, tree branches and leaves, or rocks. The use of these files is widespread and gives serious advantages to players. They ruin the experience for players who want to have a balanced, PvP-oriented experience because it becomes an issue of either use the files and experience a lifeless, almost MS paint-like version of ARK just to win fights, or keep the settings the same to maintain the graphical beauty of the game. MAIN POINT: I would like to place a formal suggestion to completely remove the use of .ini files in ARK II. As stated above, they ruin the PvP gameplay experience for a lot of players. I would be happy to discuss this with whoever but I would ultimately like to be heard by Wildcard because this is an issue that affects every single person playing the PvP servers. PvE servers and the experience they provide is still top-notch in my opinion and a fantastic time both by yourself and with friends. The graphical beauty should be maintained and removing the .ini files would restore balance to the game in PvP environments and ensure that every player is on the same playing field. I hope this finds everyone well. Edit: After talking to someone on Discord, apparently this is an issue on Xbox servers as well. Even more the reason to have this talked about.

  41. Adding a combat system is fine - I’m indifferent to whether a new combat system is added or not. But definitely not at the cost of First Person. First Person is a critical component to what makes the game fun because it adds immersion / intensity / keeps you on your toes. So if they want to add a new combat system they can do so without removing First Person from the game - Dying Light is a perfect example of a game that has a combat system / movement system whilst retaining First Person

  43. So you logged into a game in which your character appeared from nowhere, the very first thing that you ever saw was the (TEK) implant in in your arm, when you looked up at the skyline you saw massive (TEK) towers hovering in the air with giant (TEK) beams of light reaching down to the ground, and the map was dotted with (TEK) supply drops that gave you supplies and equipment for no reason whatsoever. Then somehow you were surprised that TEK was the inevitable result of progression of a game just packed with (TEK) features from the very beginning. Umm... okey dokey.

  50. Dude we are belittling your thread because all you are saying is "im not buying it." You aren't offering them any reasons as to why you aren't buying it, and you haven't even seen any of the gameplay. We don't know exactly what Ark 2 will be like, we haven't seen any gameplay released, and for all we know the game is still a year or two away from being released at all. Writing it off on the forums without offering any sort of constructive criticism is just going to get ignored by the devs as well as criticized by the rest of us because you are writing off a game you know nothing about purely because you don't like the original game. All of us are aware of how buggy ark is, and yet we still play it. there's a good chance Ark 2 will still be buggy, and yet there are those of us that don't care because the heart behind the game and the content that is there is still so appealing to many of us. We enjoy the game despite the bugs, and we don't bitch and moan about every little thing. You just sound whiny. In what world do you live in that would allow you to think that telling the devs you won't buy their game, that you haven't seen anything of yet, is somehow helping them in any way? judge the game when you see gameplay trailers. Until then, cool your jets kid.
