  2. Hey Survivors, Here is a quick update on this Major version patch that just rolled out. We're aware that there has been an increase in both client and server crashes - we've patched as many on the server side as we can (you'll have seen the various updates come through), and we've also addressed some client-side on PC (we're preparing these for console as we speak). These crashes were caused by technical changes we've made to the core game as we remaster Scorched Earth. Changes in the long term that will make remastering content smoother, and also provide modders with some more flexibility when developing their content too. Unfortunately, when it went live, it caused certain mods to crash as they hadn't been updated to use the new technology - we've since released the Devkit which will allow modders to update their mods to resolve these crashes (and we're also putting additional checks on our side into the game to protect against them). We appreciate your reports and patience. We know it's been a rocky few days, but the patch has been very informative and also helped us identify and resolve a number of issues that would have otherwise impacted the Scorched Earth release. We’ll continue to monitor the live game and keep you updated as we move towards the release of Scorched Earth!

  3. The major version patch we're rolling out today includes some shader improvements and under-the-hood changes that help us prepare for the upcoming Scorched Earth release. The goal is to get these changes out sooner so the Scorched Earth patch isn't as big to download on launch day and also helps our team identify issues before that major release. Scorched Earth is still on track to release at the end of the month, and we're just wrapping up our final bits of development before submitting it to cert. After that, we’ll be clear to release! This patch also contains one other significant change from the live game. We've improved the pipeline for human characters by removing redundant assets simplifying the process of making character animations and assets for both modders, content creators, and the internal team. From a player perspective, when this patch rolls out, you'll notice your female character having changed its proportions, but we've gone ahead and implemented new functionality on the Scissors, allowing you to adjust your character's appearance at any time, including bone modifications. There are still a few things we’re working through, such as animation issues (emotes, whistling) however, these will get resolved over the next few weeks or with the Scorched Earth release. For content creators, we’ll be releasing a new Devkit update today so you can start making the changes to your assets. We’ve also created a Blender file that you can use to help convert your assets to support the new character model (and will be looking into a solution for Maya users but that is TBD). You can download the blender file and read up on the instructions here: https://devkit.studiowildcard.com/guides/legacy-female-armor-conversion

  8. [Artwork done by myself.] 🕸️Hello allies of the Ark! My submission here is a jumping spider species that is said to have lived once between 23 and 15 million years ago, and the excitement of that discovery led to its last name, eureka! I genuinely hope to see Maevia eureka find its way to Ark some day, any support for it is infinitely appreciated, please take a moment to toss it a vote if you would like to see it around in Ark! These are my thoughts on how Maevia eureka could fit into the world we play in, in a way that reflects real life jumping spiders combined with genetic modifications from other spiders, and how they might fit into Ark in a fun and meaningful way that reflects other creatures of Ark and how important each and every one of these creatures is. I felt that, as Maevia is more of a taming companion, this gives us a different way to tame creatures using a non-harmful method! As it is in Aberration, there are many risks you take while engaging with your targets due to the fact that aberration can be quite chaotic so having to be weary of your surroundings at all times is one thing, but the larger the creature, the weaker the bola... You may find yourself having to maneuver around an area and keep your targets attention while allowing for your jumper to gather enough venom to ensnare it once again. 🏞️Habitat This is a creature that is capable of being added to any map in the game due to its likeliness of living in caves, but also as jumping spiders can be found in so many different environments, there particularly are no limits to where they could be found! 🕷️Ability - Prey Lure You're out roaming around on your two equus when one of them begins to pick up an irresistible scent coming from a nearby cave wall. Your equus is nibbling on a suspended droplet when you notice the faint glinting coming off the web it's attached to, within an instant a jumper has lunged at your equus covering it with its bola and is quickly wrapping it up in its webbing, but in order to free your companion you need to tear at the webbing, as a few good hits will send that jumper scurrying up the wall to hide! 🕷️Ability - Tranq Bola The thought is that jumpers could take the droplets they store and work them into their webbing to create venom-coated webs that could be thrown like a bola. The webs would have a tranquilizing effect whenever touched, thus causing their target to build up torpor and eventually go unconscious. 🕷️Ability - Latching As a jumping spider, they have outstanding agility and the ability to crawl on walls, but at a more rapid pace, maybe even with the cost of stamina drain for balance! An optional thing I had given thought to was the ability to fully latch onto its target in order to accurately cover them with their readied net. 🕷️Ability - Locking On This is the single feature that would make this creature so invaluable, and even possibly make it require a very difficult feat for taming it due to that power, as with the spiders extreme accuracy, it has the ability to lock its attention onto its prey, much like our real world jumping spiders who wait for the right moment to pounce, and this could also be useful for when using its projectile web net, or if grappling with a single web possibly! This is a pretty big part of what makes them 'jumping' spiders after all! 🕷️Trait - Scary Face This spider was designed in thought with evolving to be able to terrify larger than normal predators, making it an incredibly useful tame for bases, keeping your creatures better protected when having to move them around the map, I imagined it could come with an extra ability to raise its back legs with its abdomen to stay in this stance on the ground, or you could enable an option within the radial menu allowing it to find and hang down from a nearby pole, perhaps even a new item for the spiders and flyers alike, akin to a perch? 🕷️Trait/Ability - Dance! Jumping spiders in the real world have very little differentiation on sizes between male and female. The idea was that the males would be the ones that allow you to get close enough to tame them, while females will try to kill you if you do this, and when you find a male companion, he has the ability to dance when you find a female, you can engage in this dance, maybe a left/right/up/down type of button combination you have to get right in order for her to find your boy worthy of her prescence, and in the meantime you can shower her with presents of food until she wants your boy to dance for her again, gradually gaining her trust. When a movement is not corrected quickly enough, she would become hostile and attack, and you may have to wait for her to cool off before you can attempt this ritual again! There is a last minute really nice alternative way of taming these and obtaining females specifically that I would like to add, suggested by an ally of maevia! Alternative method for obtaining females! This would make it to where you would need to take your male that you tamed into the wild, and challenge it with a female! If you win the dance, the female will allow breeding and allow you to stick around, defending her in her vulnerable moment, giving you an egg (or web-wrapped little gift sac with a jumper in it or an egg or two)! This egg sac could provide a male or female you could have! 🕯️Dossier!🕯️ If there's one thing I can say about Maevia eureka, you do not want to be caught in its sights! I once witnessed a jumper locking onto its prey with the most incredible accuracy, lunging at it with lightning speed and within the blink of an eye, its prey was being saved as a snack for later. They seem to have the genes of a few other spiders like that of the ogre spider, as it can cast a gathering of its webbing along with a little dab of the venom droplet it keeps stored on its head, working that into its web to create paralytic bolas that seem to render its prey unconscious. I have reason to believe the hairs that grow on its back legs came from the peacock spider, but due to its need for protection, it also uses these 'feathers' as a menacing face that can scare off large predators, I've seen some tribes set up posts that they can hang from around the fronts of their bases. I will say one thing is for certain, though they are nearly the size of a dire bear, they are quite the cuties, especially for being a spider, there is a certain intelligence you can see when you look into their eyes, I just can't place it, but they truly make remarkable companions with the ability to rapidly scale walls, caves, cliffsides and such. By no means are they a beast of burden, however they make up for this with their abilities to constrict or assassinate their targets. Maevia eureka can take down much larger prey with its torpor inducing bola, the net cast, and this makes them remarkable allies for taming other creatures. Though I haven't been able to get close enough to befriend one of the females, the males don't seem to mind me being in a remote vicinity with them as much. I wanted to add some other suggestions in a simplified form, key points from what Ark allies have mentioned before! - Droplets could be used as a nameless venom alternative, slower to produce but useful in situations or great when you have a plethora of jumpers. - Alternative where the male is small, female is massive, male used as a shoulder buddy that has major utility such as making ziplines, grapple, and large bola, where female is the tamer albeit slow with a few things to keep the balance. - Gacha coccoons, small creatures could be snatched and turned into coccoons, hung up and could produce goodies or other useful materials. - Radial menu where the production, torpor, and other things could be enhanced, as well as weight of creatures depending on torpor percentage, for how small/medium/large the taming capability could be for jumpers. - Torpor resistance due to thick fur/hairs. - Potentially immunity to radiation, which would help a tremendous amount when seeking rockdrake eggs.

  10. Chimerarachne Yingi 💀 Arachnid from the middle Cretaceous (approximately 100 million years ago) characterized by a variety of poisonous attacks and revolutionary mechanics that will make this deadly spider your favorite The Size of Yingi is more or less like a normal Triceratops Principal Attacks 1 - [Wound Poison] [Left Click] [Melee Attack] with its sharp fangs it introduces poison into your body, which inflicts porcentual damage that stacks up to 5 times 2 - [Throw Brood] [Right Click] The Yingi can generates broods that stick to it around its body, the Yingi can take them off with its sharp tail and launch them to fulfill various types of functions A- Explosive brood: This brood can be thrown to cause a poisonous explosion that inflicts [Wound Poison] to all the Enemies B- Weaver brood: This brood can be thrown on itself or on allied creatures which will weave the wounds of its allies, healing them in the process C- Farmig brood: This brood can be thrown and collect basic resources such as stone, metal and wood The Yingi can collect her broods whit the tail MEGA JUMP The Yingi is an arthropod that has 8 strong legs with which it can perform charged jumps that allow it to travel enormous distances. [keeping space] TAMMING the Yingi egg is found in some spider web sacks which are located inside the caves in general, the survivor will have to enter the cave and break the egg sacks that he sees then there he can find a Yingi egg or You may find something else like a poisonous explosion or some aggressive dinosaur trapped inside. In the case of obtaining the precious egg, you must create a replica of the silk sack to incubate it. Once you have the sack, insert the egg to incubate it. EVOLUTIVE PHASE Yingi has a unique evolutionary phase in ark, this evolution consists of 4 exclusive extra abilities and each yingi baby acquires 1 of them randomly, but if you pair two adult yingis with different evolutionary abilities, the resulting offspring will get those 2 abilities and so on until you get 4 at most EVOLUTIVE ABILITIE 1 The Yingi's blood is now toxic, every time someone hits it with a melee attack they will be splattered with their blood which causes corrosion on the weapon and a partial blindness to the attacker (similar to when he shoots an X plant at you) EVOLUTIVE ABILITIE 2 Grow throwable poisonous spikes (throws a poisonous spike at your enemy that [Wound Poison] stakes up to 5 times doing % damage to the enemy and slowing it down) EVOLUTIVE ABILITIE 3 Launch a silk grappling from which you hang and swing EVOLUTIVE ABILITIE 4 its rear tail, apart from picking up the young, also causes the effect of the whip on enemies

  12. Just wanted to say I am genuinely hoping you may consider allowing for more than one winner this time around, and the other vote you guys could even be the one to decide as a team, voting against each other! There are WAY too many good dinos this round and many agree over the discord, we've been talking about it for quite a while ❤️ Thank you also for the oppertunity to have and be in this event! It is genuinely more than appreciated!

  13. As a reminder, let's discuss the creature, and not those who support the creature or do not support the creature. Everyone has a right to submit a creature, so long as they follow the published guidelines. Going to remove a few off topic comments and hope that the conversation becomes more constructive (whether for or against).

  16. To say your console community is disappointed is a joke just like your company as a whole. The fact is you all have lied to us from the start and now your inability to make sure your game works ahead of time has shafted over half of your community. Not too mention the complete lack of transparency in all of this you still refuse to set a date for console. "OH wow November." Very informative can't wait for another delay because that's all your company is capable of.

  18. Fan of the ASA update, but I do believe there’s better options than Nitrado. Not that I think they’re bad, they’re just a little “meh” sometimes. I’ve ran a Nitrado server for several years now and fought with it almost daily. I’ve recently switched to g-portal and my server runs LIGHT YEARS better. Again, not hating, just saying that there were some arguably better choices.

  23. I wanted to say thank you SO MUCH to all of you for your kind words and support for Maevia! I cannot thank you enough, I actually ran out of reacts for the day so I can't even react to your posts! I'm so very grateful and humbled with all of your support and passion towards getting Maevia, OUR jumping spider to Ark! I feel like this may be her finale, and greatest chance to make it this time as so so many have told me she'd be so fit for Aberration specifically rather than the other maps! If any of you have any suggestions feel free to share I will slap them on the post itself with the others! I cannot believe how far she has come and it's literally because of YOU GUYS!!! I've been in a very difficult spot in my life the past few weeks and may or may not not be able to continue posting her if she loses, so I want you all to know you absolutely can continue to support our Maevia and post for future events if there is any chance that I cannot! Just know that there is nothing short of endless appreciation for your help with getting her this far!!! I am beyond grateful. ❤️

  25. Get your facts straight kid. Go do some bloody research and quit white knighting. Fact: CEO of SNAIL, their PARENT company, in an interview a few weeks back before the yearly earnings call, stated, unequivocally that WC was developing a mod system for players to "create content in game to then sell and Snail would take a cut of those profits." Fact: ASE didn't survive due to mods. Many of us played on Official and Unofficial servers. Dudes in my tribe played both official and unofficial, at the same time. And the unofficial server they played on? Only 4 mods that were to literally only made QOL changes. I have people on MY unofficial ASA server that played throughout ASE and never touched unofficial, and they know people... Blah, blah, blah. You're wrong. Stop white knighting. Fact: they weren't forced to release early by Marbis (Nitrado's parent company). Snail signed a bad deal because they didn't pay server bills and because they needed money to finish development. They could have released later, but then Marbis would keep all the profits from server rentals until the loan was paid off. There was no forcing here. These were the terms and they accepted them. Marbis didn't force them to do it. Marbis didn't hold them at gun point to make them sign the bad deal they signed. It was all CHOICE. Chose not to pay server fees. Chose to sign a bad deal. Chose to release when they did so they could make money off servers. The kind of mods they are trying to push, the player created content, like the skins, not the stuff on CurseForge, it's all a way to start generating money. Creating another avenue of microtransactions on top of the other microtransactions they're peddling out to us, like this floating island dino base thing. It's content locked behind a paywall and they don't want to make all of it, they want your fellow players to make it, and then sell it, so they can take a cut without having done any work. It's scummy. All of this info is out there man. Just do the legwork. But, ya know, if you're too lazy to do it, or don't know how to do it, go check YouTube. There are plenty of reputable YouTubers that cover this stuff. So, yes, they are a joke, and now you are too.

  27. That event looks great. I should logon and play. Oh wait, I can't, it won't be out on the console until sometime next year. We're on track for August. No wait, we're on track for October. No wait, we're on track for end of October. No wait, we're on track for November 14. No wait, we're on track for end of November. No wait, we're heading into the holidays with reduced hours on the game so it will be sometime in January. It's all Xbox's fault because it can't pass cert even though we've been loading this game on Xbox for 8 years. There's no way we could know what might be an issue. Don't worry, when we finally can get Xbox to certify this game we will put the game out and give you $5 off, and you can just lose to the Steam players that have been playing for 3 months. Don't forget, to help you catch up we will give you 1.5x for a weekend.

  28. Too sad that none of the spiders made it in. I think that what would fit really well in aberration would be a spider. Hope there is another chance to get it into the map.

  29. It is difficult to fully compare the two structure versions since there are inaccuracies in the UE4 picture. Such as, a fabricator cannot fit under a ceiling that is one wall high, and would clip through the ceiling. Also, a fabricator is just shy of being two foundations long. So it would clip through the stairs. The air conditioner is also the wrong color, and looks grungier than in game. So if there is no honesty in the comparison, how is the comparison to be trusted? Even if the UE5 version is fully accurate, and honest, the reveal is tainted by dishonesty. Since now all that comes to mind is wondering what else may have been altered to look worse in the UE4 version to make the UE5 version look more appealing.

  32. If Gorgonops doesn’t win just add it to the game at this point lol. It’s the most reoccurring creature, there’s obviously a popular base for it, and it’s taking up a slot of something we haven’t potentially seen before.

  33. To all those continuing with the same broken record statement of, "it doesn't fit here", that is a factually incorrect statement. It could realistically exist on any ARK outside of ones that are entirely glacial (or perhaps entirely underwater as well?). Spiders, including jumping spiders, exist almost everywhere on Earth outside of polar regions. A quick and easy Google search of, "Do jumping spiders live everywhere in the world?" yields these results: "You can find jumping spiders all over the world, except in polar areas like Antarctica. Most are found in tropical forests, temperate forests, grasslands, scrublands, and sometimes deserts."

  36. I cannot believe the backlash has yet to be addressed. I also cannot believe that after moving the official wiki from fandom/gamepedia (presumably for the same reason other games moved, due to malware being served in ads) that Wildcard would utilize yet another malware ad serving organization (Overwolf) which requires installing its software. Mod.io allows monetizing mods, too, and was announced to be the cross-platform solution for Ark2, so why is it not also the platform of choice for ASA? The silence is deafening.

  39. The Oasisaur is MASSIVE. And it flies/levitates ? And it has a... private lake ?! I'm gonna stop you RIGHT THERE. First of all, don't install sh*t on my computer that other players make without my consent, simply because we play on the same server. Just as a rule. And second of all, there is no way that one player deciding what others have to install in order to render a base will backfire, ever. As we all know, noone in this community is toxic. There will not be rule-breaking content, there will not be attempts to slip in a virus of some sort, nothing of the sort. We're all happy unicorns in the garden of Eden.

  40. Congratulations Survivors! You (and us too) survived a full day and night on the ARK! And what an eventful day it has been. A lot’s been going on, and we thought it would be good to wrap up the day with a quick update regarding the state of the game and our plans over the days and weeks ahead. Let’s discuss a few key topics: the first is no stranger to ARK games on Day One, and that’s client-side performance. Working from anecdotal feedback and hard data provided by players, we deployed a new client-side update released tonight that will improve your game's framerate. The update adds a number of optimizations and better settings assignments for each Graphics Quality mode, and you'll get an immediate gain upon trying out the new build. Once you've got the update, please change your "Graphics Quality" setting to your preferred setting (Low/Medium/High/Epic) to take full advantage of the new under-the-hood settings. Tomorrow and into the weekend, we'll release further improvements to client performance, including generating a Pipeline State Object Cache to reduce/eliminate graphics stuttering & hitching and further optimizing the sky/cloud/atmosphere shaders. Thank you for bearing with us as the team works to ensure the game runs better for various configurations, including this first set of optimizations and the many still to come. The second is a one-two combo: server-side stability and optimization. The team has been battling a number of never-before-seen crashes since the game went live (such is life — 1 hour of live play is equivalent to a month of internal QA). Honestly, the floodgates had opened, and at one point, servers were coming down faster than we could put them online! Thankfully, as of our latest server-side build, we’ve managed to get the servers in a much more stable state, eliminating over 95% of server crashes. There’s still more we plan to address, and you can expect more deployments to happen over the next few days to ensure as much uptime as possible and launch additional servers based on capacity needs! As for how well the servers run, we’ve been collecting data over the last 24 hours to identify major server performance pain points. This will be a major focus for the engineering team, and we’ll be looking to introduce as many optimizations as possible. After a week or so, we plan to have a PTR branch of the game available to test out some of our riskier optimizations before we set them live to the public. But for now, we’ll continue operating from the main branch of the game as we’ve just launched and are in rapid patch mode! And lastly, the ARK Devkit (for ASA) is now available! For those unfamiliar, the ARK DevKit is a custom version of the Unreal Engine 5 Editor that provides dedicated infrastructure to help you take your imagination into the game of ARK: Survival Ascended. The kit is available to download HERE, and we’ve got a quick FAQ you can check out HERE. We’re really excited to get this out to you and cannot wait to see you build beyond boundaries in ARK: Survival Ascended! This is only the beginning of ASA’s Early Access journey; there’s still much more we plan to do to the game as we develop it. This means working through the rough patches and introducing new features, content, and gameplay. We cannot wait to get all that and more in your hands. But for now, we’ll say thank you for all your feedback, support, and excitement. It’s been wonderful watching so many of you begin the first steps of your ASA adventures, and we can’t wait to see where it takes us! Good night! ❤️

Available on PC now! Console Survivors, Last night, while continuing our internal quality assurance process for ASA, our team identified some critical issues in the multiplayer version of the game that would have had major implications for the console versions of the game. Unfortunately, due to these issues, we’ve decided to delay the launch of the Xbox and PlayStation versions of the game until November. We understand that this news is disappointing, and trust us, we’re disappointed too. The team really did aim to get everything out for all platforms in October, but we fell short just at the finish line. We’re sorry about that, as we know a lot of you have been very excited about this launch and made plans around it. Next steps? As of now, we’re working on two tracks. One track is managing the launch of PC, and the other track is preparing a patch for the game's console version with the latest content/gameplay updates and fixes. The additional time lets us resolve those specific multiplayer issues and bring the game up to the PC specification, which received a number of critical improvements as the console versions were going through certification. We’re still planning to keep crossplay between Steam and Consoles disabled until we’ve entered the quicker certification process, but that decision could change based on how things are looking with PC at the time. The added benefit of this change is that it also enables us to ensure a smoother console launch as we’ll have fought many of the initial fires with PC and have a more content-rich and stable modding experience that has been battle-tested when the game becomes available on consoles. Finally, when the console is ready to be released, a fresh set of Official Servers will go online with bonus rates (for a period of time) to allow you to catch yourself up in preparation for Crossark. We know that this news is far from ideal, however we’ll be doing our best to make the game as good as it can be when it launches in November. We are really grateful for the support and cannot wait to get ASA with cross-platform mods into your hands! Studio Wildcard

  43. What an emotional day it was for us Ark players. You guys really did close the servers with grace and it was very much appreciated by us who spent long hours over the years building up our little worlds. Just wanted to thank you for that, it really shows how much you guys care about us ❤️. Looking forward to ASA and what's to come 🙂

  44. They wont release any gameplay right up to the last minute because if they did it would probably kill hype not build it. They know damn well Its not gonna be that much better. Slightly prettier visually and a few extras but as a whole its exactly the same game. Its hilarious how they've been able to distract people with new creature votes for months like babies with car keys lool

  45. If this doesn't win, it better get the Sinomacrops or Carchara treatment... I can't think of anything else better fitting for ab than this thing.

  46. ooh, one whole image of one asset. oh yes, this perfectly justifies shutting down servers with years of work and memorials to dead players. Oh yes, so sorry for my "tone", I have zero sympathy for a company receiving the criticism they should be getting, for the mistakes they continuously refuse to own up to or correct.
