Update: There have been a few posts regarding the release date and why some retailer sites are displaying a different date to what we initially announced. This is because We're currently working on getting the game through PlayStation 4 Certification at the moment (as all platforms will need to release simultaneously). As soon as we've got a definitive update to the release date, we'll let you know officially. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey, Survivors! We’ve got important and exciting news to share! First of all, we’ve finally completed our game for the console disc retail submission! It was a very long and arduous process, our boss fight or so to say, and your feedback throughout this process has been highly valuable. It was a very tight deadline to make the ship date, and the team has been intensively grinding through singleplayer-oriented refinements for the posterity of the disc-based version. All that aside, we were able to resolve many issues, as well as considerably improve the game through various changes and implementation of new techniques and it’s now time to move onto refocus our development efforts on the live game, as well as address some key topics within the community: Will the Official Servers be wiping? Short answer: No -- but read the long answer! We had previously released a statement a year ago informing players that our Official Servers would not be wiping on the retail launch of the game. We’ve thought long and hard about the decision, taking into consideration the various points brought up by the community, the internal members of the team, as well as the general discussion that has taken place on the internet through various press/media outlets and will be sticking to our initial decision. It is clear that some group of players are for the wipe for, and some are against it, all for legitimate reasons; and we took it all into account. We ultimately decided that we would not wipe and we would rather pay the cost to launch an additional new PvP and PvE Server Cluster network (alongside but separate from the current PvP and PvE Legacy Cluster), where players will get to have a fresh experience on the ARK; across all four maps with no influence from any of the previous servers. At that time we'll be rolling out the new server code and infrastructure necessary to prevent critical issues such as server crashing exploits, duping, and DDoSing, so they will not affect the batch of new servers (as well as the legacy ones, going forward). Our current set of Official Servers will be rebranded as “Legacy” and indicated as such on all platforms. We will also be taking steps to remove some of our ‘ghost town’ servers, where the player population has remained near-zero for an extended duration of time. We’ll take a look at the statistics and will be repurposing 10% of the lowest count servers across all platforms. Once we know which servers these are; we'll preserve the save files and upload them, so if you so wish to use them, you can. Players will also have time to move through Cross-ARK to a different secure Legacy server. Every three months we will be taking a review of the Legacy Officials to see what the numbers are like and may consider repurposing more ‘ghost towns’, however, the goal will be to preserve any place with human activity. To be clear, if you're playing on a Legacy Server you will not be able to transfer to the new Official servers and Legacy servers will still receive total and complete support (just like the New Officials) in regards to Game Updates and future ARK Expansions, so you can expect to see future DLC servers added to the Legacy Cluster. Ragnarok: Console debut and development The new official release date for the Ragnarok Free DLC on consoles will be on the 8th of August when ARK launches for retail release. The team spent time discussing when would be the best time to release the map, for both technical reasons, as well as the experience itself, and this was the chosen date. We understand that some may find this news frustrating as you’ve waited a long time for the map, however after conferring for quite a while on the topic, we believe this is the best decision for the map’s arrival on console as; First of all, it allows the Ragnarok Developers to get the latest version of the Dev Kit and incorporate our latest changes to the game, which will have a significant impact on the console experience concerning performance, visual fidelity, and stability. Secondly, by focusing our technical workforce on the other aspects of the game (in addition to Ragnarok) such as server stability, crash exploits, duping, DDoS, we will be able to ensure a much smoother experience for when the map is available. Finally, with our recent decision in regards to whether there will be a wipe or not, this seems like the smartest decision, to avoid this awkward situation of where servers that have only just been online for a couple of weeks become legacy. The new date will also result in the map debut on console will be much farther ahead in its development than the map that was initially released on PC as the Ragnarok Developers have carried out a significant number of bug fixes, QOL changes on the map, and more! We will be doing a PC patch soon to upgrade to the latest version of the map (which is available in the Steam Workshop for Unofficial Servers!) so that you guys will also be able to enjoy their improvements! PlayStation 4 Update! It’s happening! Yes, we’re serious. We’re currently working on the latest PS4 patch with Abstraction at the moment, and while it’ll be tough, we should be set to release it this Friday (probably going to be a late evening patch). We’ll keep you posted how that goes! Thank you guys for being so patient with us over the past few weeks, we understand how frustrating it is not to receive updates, but now we are wrapped up with certification and this tight deadline, we’ll be able to go back to our standard development pipeline and therefore include you with our updates Console PC-Hosted Servers Yup, you heard it. As of the 8th of August, we will finally have support for PC hosted dedicated servers on console. We won’t be renting or hosting them ourselves, it isn’t a commercial venture for us, but we will be doing the technical work needed to get this underway. Initially, they will be available via Nitrado! (It’ll come to other third party hosts once we go through this initial technical-iteration phase, as we want to ensure its stability). These servers will be available on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and if you haven’t realised, here’s why this is so awesome: No need for a second console to host private servers! Complete access to all of ARKs custom server config settings, which will let players change the rules on their custom ARKs The option to create cross ARK Clusters for the ultimate ARK Experience -- allowing travel across four Maps Create a backup of server save files, allowing players to try something new without the fear of losing data The servers will result in higher performance due to better optimisation Player servers will now be able to support a larger pool of players, up to 100 concurrent users! At a later date, these will also be Play Anywhere compatible! For those of you wondering about repurposed console Legacy Official Servers, you will be able to take the save file and set up an Unofficial Server using this. Nitrado will be contacting those who show interest in console servers on the 8th of August via email, you can notify them here: http://nitra.do/arkconsole Let them know if you are keen, so they can properly estimate demand! Development Kit! Oh modders, how we love you so much, we hope you can forgive us for the delay and understand as developers yourselves our reason for doing so. Fortunately, we come bearing good news! Jeremy is prepping the latest version of the Dev Kit right now (literally!) and we will have it available to download later today via GitHub, and soon after that via the Unreal Launcher when we are confident in its stability. You’ll be able to keep up with the latest information on the Unreal Forums in regards to any relevant/cool changes! That should be what we wanted to discuss for today. Hopefully, it helps clear the air with what’s been going on and the direction we’re heading in. We're looking forward to a fun ARK launch with everyone in the weeks ahead! All the best, Studio Wildcard

Hey Survivors, We’ve got some exciting news we’d like to share with you! As of today, we will be transitioning the ARK’s harvesting, EXP, and taming rates to 2x permanently. This is a decision we’ve made after experimenting with the game’s rates for quite some time. You may have noticed in the last few weeks the Evolution Events have gotten longer, this has allowed us to get a better feel for how it would play out in a permanent live experience. We have consistently received a lot of feedback from you, and it was very evident that players preferred the increased rates. Thusly, the rates will stay at 2x permanently from now onwards on our Official Servers. Evo Event Weekends will consequently be increased to 3x rates. Furthermore, in the next major version releases, the 2x rates will be implemented directly in the game build itself. This means that Non-Dedicated Servers, Single Player Sessions and of course Unofficial Servers will also feel the increased rates. Therefore, if you’re currently using customized rates, it’s something you will want to keep in mind before this change is in place -- specifically upon the release of the next Major Version on each of your respective platforms, you may wish to reduce your server/game rates by 50% to have the same effective values as before. We appreciate all the response you guys have provided to us regarding our Evolution Events and are looking forward to running more exploring new features with you in the upcoming future. All the best, Wildcard Jat and the ARK: Survival Evolved Team

Common Name: Equus Species: Equus Magnus Time: Pleistocene Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Loyal Wild Equus Magnus appears to be an ancestor of the modern horse. Based on its stripes, it may be the African Variant of Equus Giganteus, which appeared in North America during the Ice Age, but that is pure conjecture. Its behaviour in the wild is similar to that of other wild members of the Equus genus - it sustains itself by grazing, while keeping safe from predators by living in herds and outrunning its attackers via superior speed and stamina. Domesticated Horse and man have long been partners in survival, and this remains true on the Island. In Equus, survivors will find a trusty steed or pack animal that can carry them swiftly across the land. In fact, Equus’ reliability has led some survivors to construct special saddles for them. I even encountered a man who added extra saddle-pouches that doubled as mobile crafting stations for chemical supplies, foodstuffs, and other items. Although not as robust as what you might find within a village, this utility helped him live a nomadic, solitary lifestyle. Some survivors employ Equus to herd other creature with extra-long whips, or wrangle using a specialized lasso. These tools are sometimes effective for self-defense as well, as Equus is limited in battle on its own… at least compared to aggressive prehistoric carnivores.

A new Dino Dossier has been revealed, this one is everyone’s favourite fearsome feathered fearless fighter, the Yutryannus! Wild The Yutyrannus Saevus is believed to be related to the Tyrannosaurus Rex but it is noticeably different upon first glance. Feathered creatures are not necessarily viewed as dangerous predators in the same light as other theropods. However, the Yutyrannus strikes fear into even the most skilled hunters on the island. There are few wild predators that are able to pack-hunt alongside the generally hostile Carnotaurus, like the Yutyrannus does, with such ease. It is also the only creature I’ve seen to consistently induce a state of panic with its roar. Upon hearing it, most creatures in the area will flee for safety. Domesticated A domesticated Yutyrannus can be a powerful offensive or defensive addition to war parties. With its mighty roar, it can induce fear in opposing creatures. Meanwhile, Yutyrannus can be trained to develop a confidence-boosting Battle-Cry which counteracts enemy attempts to induce fear, while also bolstering the resolve of allies. These unique “leadership” qualities make the Yutyrannus a versatile, and at times, a necessary creature to have on your side during large-scale confrontations.

Common Name: Kentrosaurus Species: Kentrosaurus Aethiopicus Time: Late Jurassic Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Short-Tempered Wild: While Kentrosaurus Aethiopicus is considerably smaller than its close relative, Stegosaurus Regium, it is much more formidable in matters of self defense. In fact, it is arguably the pound for pound champion of not only the Stegosauria, but when encountered in close-knit fighting packs, ranks atop the island’s herbivorous dinosaurs in general. Thanks to its wickedly sharp defensive spikes, any creature which attacks Kentrosaurus is likely to be reversely wounded in turn, and it is capable of piercing even the thickest of hides and armors when it goes on the offensive. I have personally witnessed the Kentrosaurus fell much larger predators in a single such “impaling” maneuver! Underestimating Kentrosaurus can be a fatal mistake, particularly when it is in a herd. When travelling in numbers, Kentrosaurus seems to grow much more aggressive, increasing the range at which it will defend its territory. Domesticated: Survivors have seen little success in their attempts to ride Kentrosaurus, owing to its spikes and hot-headed temperament. However, a tamed herd of Kentrosaurus can defend a compound as well as take on any larger carnivore. One swing of its deadly tail can save a survivors life, or even turn the tide of a pitched battle! A Message to the ARK Community Firstly, an emphatic "thank you" to the ARK community for the love they have shown towards this game. Your creations, your feedback, and your support have meant the world to us. THANK YOU! We'd also like to provide our official take on the Scorched Earth Expansion Pack, and the future of ARK. Put simply: we are absolutely committed to driving aggressive development towards a solid, feature-robust game launch for ARK: Survival Evolved. Everyone at Wildcard wakes up every day thinking about how we can make ARK into a better game today than it was the day before. It’s not always easy, but our intent is ever-forward progress towards a retail release that will be far more ambitious in scope and features than our original vision when we launched ARK into Steam Early Access in June 2015. Your feedback enables us to continually expand the game to become better than ever! Scorched Earth: Our original vision for ARK always included the creation of Expansion ARKs, along with the infrastructure and technical systems to transfer data dynamically between live ARKs. We determined that it is more sound to iterate on these systems during Early Access than after retail launch, given the significant risks involved if we didn't "get it right". While that meant unveiling the first Expansion early, it also means an easier time integrating further post-launch Expansions into the ARK network. We understand that this isn't everyone's cup of tea, and we appreciate the enjoyment people seem to be getting out of this initial view of how Expansion ARKs can work. Now that we have the systems in place to support them, we can ensure minimal integration issues with subsequent releases after ARK: Survival Evolved itself has launched. Thank you so much to everyone who has been surviving on Scorched Earth, and we hope that the new features and content that it brings into the ARK universe will enrich all players' experiences whatever map or mode you're playing on -- and in the weeks ahead we're looking forward to seeing what modders can make with the Scorched Earth content, and the powerful new Blueprint systems coming with them. Regarding our upcoming plans for ARK: Survival Evolved, here's a brief outline of what's ahead: - ARK v247 launches later this week, and among other things will include the fan-favorite creatures Tapejara and Archaeopteryx! - Breeding Phase 3 and the Boss Ascension Cycle are being wrapped up for release, and will soon make their debut along with the first Tek Tier items (Power Armor). - ARK Backstory!! You're going to get your first dose of ARK’s mythology with the Explorer Note system -- will you find them all and begin piecing together the mysteries of the ARK? - The first pass of the "Procedurally Generated ARKs" system should be coming to PC next month, and Xbox soon afterwards. Unlimited ARK varieties?! You bet! - As Scorched Earth dramatically expands ARK's Blueprint modding capabilities,we will be launching a new Mod Contest with the release of the Dev Kit that incorporates the Scorched Earth content. There is a lot more content beyond that as we head into the home-stretch of preparing the game for 1.0 release, but these are some of the things that we're particularly excited to get out to you! We're not nearly at the end of the journey yet, and ARK has much to come in order to fulfill its destiny as the ultimate Dinosaur survival experience of our collective dreams. But with your help, we are going to get there together, and every day will be ever more amazing on the ARK!

Survivors! We’re excited to reveal the first of many Explorer Notes to be uncovered whilst living on the island and over the coming few weeks, the ‘Explorer Note System’ will be finding its way onto the ARK itself. You’ll be able to discover the stories of actual inhabitants that have lived on the isle, and follow what their fates are over time*. By studying their notes, learning through their experiences, and revealing the secrets they have discovered, you will be able to get closer to the heart of the mysteries surrounding the ARK. * Not everyone can survive life on the ARK We’ll also be taking a break from revealing Dino Dossiers over the coming weeks as we spend some time catching up on implementing the Dossier backlog we have created for ourselves! We also want to see how the game evolves with further additions, so we can finalize what our remaining batch of creatures (Basilosaurus anyone?) will be and what they’ll bring to the ARK. Don’t worry though - we’ll still have a content reveal every Monday! Something new and mysterious will be unveiled

Introducing a new Official Mod: Ragnarok, available now on Steam and July 4 on consoles! We're excited to announce the first mod to be integrated into ARK: Survival Evolved as part of its ARK Sponsored Mods Program! Developed by the former creators of popular ARK mods Valhalla and Umassoura; David Miller, Matt Janz, and Jackson Lawrence came together to work on their latest project, “Ragnarok” which is being released today for Steam players as a free DLC Official Expansion ARK, and will be shortly making its way to consoles in July. Global Cross-ARK and isolated Official Ragnarok servers will be available for you to make your new home. A new Dino Dossier has been revealed, this one is everyone's favourite gallant glider, the Griffin! Common name: Griffin Species: Gryphon Magnificum Time: Unknown Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild Gryphon Magnificum is undoubtedly a sight to behold. Many ancient myths tell of various depictions of the Griffin over the ages, but what is never disputed is its majestic and mysterious nature. With the front half of an eagle and the back half of a lion, it is as if these two creatures somehow fused together to form a superior land and air predator. While one's first instinct might be to approach the creature and marvel at its beauty, that would be a very poor decision. Its range of attacks makes it one of the more versatile predators I’ve witnessed. If its presence alone isn't enough to intimidate potential hunters, it has the ability to dive from the sky to the ground with such force that it inflicts damage to anyone unfortunate enough to be below it, or carry its momentum back into a rapid uplift. Domesticated The idea of pacifying such a beast is nothing to scoff at. It's highly independent nature and disinterest with interacting with humans combined with its power and strength make the Griffin a challenge to domesticate. However, there have been those who are fearless enough to attempt and succeed at this miraculous feat. Once tamed, riding atop a Griffin along with a tribemate passenger, dashing through the air at high speeds, is a prize in and of itself. Xbox One X, Crossbuy, and Crossplay! We were also excited to unveil that this November, ARK will be a Launch Title on the Xbox One X! We are currently aiming to have the game performing on the EPIC Settings at 60 FPS, with every graphical effect including TrueSky. With this, we’re also excited to reveal that the game will be ready on Xbox Play Anywhere, so Xbox Owners will be able to play ARK on whichever platform they own, be it a Windows 10 PC, Xbox One, or the Xbox One X. This will also allow us to introduce crossplay between the 3 platforms! Keep in mind that this is a retroactive crossbuy, so if you already own ARK on the Xbox One, you automatically get it on the Xbox One X and the Windows 10 store, and will remain crossbuy going forward too! Plus as we announced yesterday, the Xbox versions and Windows 10 store version can all play together on the same servers using crossplay! So get ready to partner up with your tribemates on whichever Microsoft platform you want to survive on That’s all for now guys! Thank you so much for all the support the past 2 years, and we hope you are excited as we are about the news. As always, there’s still more planned for the ARK universe, both leading up to and beyond the August 8 launch. Survivors on all platforms can look forward to a lot more going forward, so stay tuned! - Studio Wildcard

Common Name: Titanosaur Species: Titanosaurus Vagacastrum Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Passive, unless approached Wild Today I witnessed an unforgettable sight. The extremely rare ‘Titanosaurus Vagacastrum’. Essentially a walking mountain, it is an absolutely enormous sauropod which has developed armored plates of bone protrusions all over its body. Between these plates and its unparalleled size, Titanosaurus is extremely difficult to put down. In addition, Titanosaurus seems outright immune to any sort of narcotic effects. They often inadvertently crush nearby creatures underfoot with every step they take. Whilst most Sauropods ignore non-hostile creatures, Titanosaurs take issue with creatures invading its personal space. This is probably because they aggressively feed off any and all plants they can find. Titanosaurus eats constantly, which certainly helps recover health quickly, even after fighting off numerous carnivores such as Giganotosaurus. Domesticated I suspect that a Titanosaur, for all its sheer size, is overkill for a lone rider. Rather, for those elite tribes powerful enough to bend one of these titans to their will, the epic creature is employed as a mobile superfortress, capable of ferrying obscene amounts of weight, structures, defenses, and creatures across the island. Some nomadic tribes even have their main base on their back of a Titanosaur! Humble Bundle Sale! Survivors, for those of you who don't have ARK or has a friend who would like to purchase the game - we're now available on the Humble Store at a discounted price of 40%! You can grab a copy of the game here.

Happy Tuesday, Survivors! It's PC patch day and we've got two exciting things to chat about that we are currently working on. Structures Plus: Now that Extinction has been officially released, the team will be dedicating some time to the integration of Structures Plus. Pulling S+ into ARK's already existing structure system without causing issues with current structures is very important to us. There are also many features that exist in S+ that we cannot integrate into official servers without taking into consideration the impact on game balance. The plan is to integrate S+ on a feature by feature basis, prioritizing features that are compatible with the official game. We may integrate additional features gated by options for unofficials as time permits. Our first bit of integration starts immediately in today’s PC patch where we introduce the ability to pick up undamaged structures for free if it was placed in the last 30 seconds. You can pick up a placed structure by looking directly at the structure and pressing the interact key (E). This change will be included in the next patch for console, due later this week. Kibble Rework: Extinction's kibble setup (known as Augmented Kibble) was phase one of our kibble rework. We are currently in the process of assigning these new kibble types to all of the remaining ARK creatures across all maps. All eggs will be assigned a value based on the size and rarity of the egg. These sizes include: Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, and Special. The eggs are then used in a recipe to create kibble of a coinciding value: Basic, Simple, Regular, Superior, Exceptional, and Extraordinary. This new system will make it so that creature kibble desires are based on the quality levels instead of specific creatures. We plan to introduce these changes on an experimental beta branch before letting it loose into the wild population at a later date. We’re excited to tackle this much needed rework! NOTE: These plans are subject to change.

Hey Survivors! Here's a little glance at our upcoming Tek Tier items! This is just the first pass on the armour, but we're pretty happy with how it's coming along so far! There's been a few rumours being spread about us no longer focusing on ARK: Survival Evolved, and I'd like to come out and just dispel those rumours! That is definitely not the case, the core-game will get all the attention and love it warrants and more! So don't worry guys! Pardon the lack of content and updates lately, we've been a little occupied with getting restructured into new offices (we're awful at the non-game development side of things!) and a ton of trade shows, now a lot of us are recovering from the bug ha. As we proceed through our development period you guys will get to see and experience a lot of new awesome content and I'll see if we can show off more prototypes and first passes of our Tek Tier technology as they come to fruition! So let us know what you think about about these early-shots of the armour! Cheers, Wildcard Jat & The ARK: Survival Evolved Team!

Hello Survivors! We’re back again with another announcement straight from PAX East 2016! We told you that there would be a lot coming this week, and a bit of everything for everyone and we’ll be true to our words. Studio Wildcard is proud and excited to announce the ARK: Official Mods program. What this means is that we’ll be able to take a step further when working with Mods and begin integrating them into our Official ARK System. We will be launching this program starting with The Center Map for Xbox One and PC in May 2016. Designed by community member Ben Burkart, The Center adds an over-the-top, fantasy-themed map that doubles the size of the current game and is more varied than the original ARK map, with tons of new biomes, dungeons, floating islands, end-of-the-world waterfalls, massive ancient ruins, along with other wonders to explore and secrets to find. Drawn completely by hand without any auto-generated content, The Center is a massive increase in the game's official playable content and is free to both PC and Xbox One players. Following that we’ll be working hard to introduce more of your favourite mods to the game with Primitive+ (already an Official Mod on PC). In the case of Primitive Plus, players are challenged to use only wood and stone without the benefit of advanced metals to create weapons such as guns. A whole new set of items and detailed new mechanics focus the player on 'primitive' survival, which fits snugly in the world of ARK. Primitive Plus will be playable as a functionality mod on all official ARK maps. We really appreciate and value the hard work and effort that goes into the mods from the community and will do what we can to help, this new program is another step we’re going to take to ensure that modders get all the support they need and are recognized for their contribution and efforts in ARK! Thank you for all your support and be sure to keep up with our PAX East show at www.twitch.tv/survivetheark for all the latest news and announcements! Don’t forget to give the #PAXRex a shout out ;). See you guys tomorrow! All the best, Wildcard Jat and The ARK: Survival Evolved Team.

Deinonychus Common Name: Deinonychus Species: Deinonychus magna pede Time: Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild By the time you hear the scurrying claws of the Deinonychus, it's often too late. Superior hunters, they leap from a hiding place and pounce on their prey. The Deinonychus is an agile climber as well, jumping from wall ledge to wall ledge as it seeks high vantage points to lie in wait. A hungry Deinonychus tends to be fearless and will hunt prey much larger than itself, latching onto a dinosaur's back with its sickle-shaped claws, then starting to feed before its victim is even dead. While it likes its meat fresh, a Deinonychus isn't above scavenging a carcass if no other food is available. Domesticated Raising a Deinonychus in captivity requires an ample food supply, as they have a fast metabolism to match their high activity level. The Deinonychus is also fiercely territorial near nests with eggs, even if the eggs aren't its own. This makes breeding successive generations a hazardous process. Unless raised from eggs, they cannot be tamed; the hunter instinct of a wild Deinonychus is so strong that it reflexively pounces on a would-be master. When will this creature make its first appearance on the ARK? Find out more soon! Saddle up Survivors, as we’ve got a couple of important updates we’d like to inform you all of. First of all, before we get into the nitty gritty of all the details of the upcoming changes, allow us to say this. Over the past few days, there have been a lot of hot-topics of discussion around the community. Some of these topics have not had an immediate response from the development team, this is not because we are choosing to ignore, but because we want to have time to deliberate and consider our options before responding, or taking action. We try to read all the feedback you provide, whether it’s positive, negative, or indifferent and take action where we deem it viable. ARK was launched into Early Access with the idea of creating a game together, and we are still sticking to that plan, every single day. Sometimes decisions are needed to be made that require a bit of thinking time, but we’ll make those choices. Other times, we’re going to do things you don’t quite agree with, or you’re going to suggest things that we don’t quite see as a viable option for the game - but we will take into consideration what you’re saying, and make compromises or reevaluate our plans where necessary. Today’s announcement will help shed some light on our thoughts, as well as the route we plan to take going forward. Evolution Event: Cross ARK Transfers! As of Friday the 18th of November at 12PM ET we are going to be activating the following evolution event: 2x Harvesting Rates 2x Taming Rates 2x EXP Rates This will run until Monday the 21st of November 12PM ET. We’ll also be introducing a new permanent change will be coming to your CrossARK Clusters: Complete transfer of Items, Tames and Survivors through all MAPS on the Official ARK Network (separated by game mode). Please note that this will not affect Player Dedicated Servers. This is just an Official Server change Previously, you were only able to transfer Survivors TO Scorched Earth servers, and everything FROM a Scorched Earth server. Now, you’ll be able to have absolute rights when transferring and can go from Island to Island, Center to Center, Scorched Earth to Scorched Earth, Island to Scorched Earth, Center to Scorched Earth, and Island to Center without any limitations, and the reverse of course. Please remember that these transfers are still based on the cluster (mode) you play on; PvE can only go to PvE, Hardcore can only go to Hardcore, Primitive can only go to Primitive etc. When we first announced the ARK Transfer system with the Launch of Scorched Earth, we stated that it was something critical we wanted to experiment with in Early Access and to see how the game would progress once we introduced that new gameplay mechanic. Following what we’ve seen, and based on the feedback we have received, we would rather allow more freedom, where acceptable of course, than impose further limits. Alongside this change, we are now going to introduce a new mechanic: Once a Tame has been uploaded and downloaded onto an ARK, it will suffer a 12-hour cooldown until it can be transferred again. Transferred tames will also display on the HUD from which server they were last uploaded from (if you’re on a different Tribe, you will only see this indicator when the Tame is dead). We want to provide the opportunity for tribes to scout each other across the ARK, as well as limit, -- to an extent -- tribes from storming in and then storming out immediately with their tames. By enabling the complete CrossARK transfers, it should also provide the chance for existing players to scope out new servers of the same type, meet up with friends, and find new opportunities or adventure, with no PvP server being unassailable or off-limits. With all big changes, we understand that this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I’m sure I’ve said that before, though keep in mind these changes may not be final. We want to see how things play out, whether this was the right move, how we can further improve the system. Something we’re considering down the line is introducing more limitations on what can be transferred, such as only Baby Tames or Eggs can be transferred, perhaps we limit Scorched Earth transfers to Scorched Earth base/raw materials only. Your feedback following today’s change will be critical as it enables us to continually develop and expand the game, as well as provide the opportunity to explore further options. Update number two.. Stance on Exploiting Let’s be clear about this, no one likes cheaters. We don’t like cheaters, you don’t like cheaters, your friends don’t like cheaters, cheaters don’t even like each other. We want to do everything we can to ensure that the ARK is a fair place for everyone to play with one another. It is why we worked to get a strong BattlEye system for ARK which is constantly receiving updates and will continue to do so because we want to stomp out cheats. However, I don’t think it would be unreasonable to say that we have been lenient when taking action against people who are exploiting game bugs. Previously, we have felt that the bugs are on us and we have to do our best to resolve them and fix them, so we try not to punish survivors in this instance and make changes that will benefit the community as a whole, in the long-term, even if in the moment it seems a bit unfair. We’re going to change that up a little bit. Going forward, we will be taking a stricter approach when it comes to exploiting game bugs. If there is malicious intent, we will take action, be it destroying your tribe, structures, tames, and where necessary straight up removing you from the ARK and adding you to the global ban list and requesting a VAC ban. Consider this your warning to those of who you would rather exploit than report. Cases such as duping, or building under the map for instance, will result in such actions. Of course, it’ll be case by case, accidents happen, sometimes you’re curious - but it is pretty clear when there is indeed malicious intent and that’s where we’ll be taking action. ..but wait, there’s more! Primitive Servers Primitive Servers were something we introduced fairly on to the game at the request of the community, they hadn’t really been part of our game plan but it was clear that a lot of you wanted to experience this. Every now and then we introduce updates to the game which impact Primitive in a not so great way, primarily because that particular game mode isn’t quite set up to deal with the vast changes of the ARK. We’re going to make some adjustments to alleviate some of the current problems that exist and we’ll try and pay better attention going forward. Similarly to all changes, nothing is ever final and a lot of it is experimenting. A big concern that has been brought up is the power of some particular Scorched Earth dinos. Going way back when we introduced the Giga to the game, we made some changes to weaken it’s damage specifically on Primitive servers. We found that worked pretty well, so we’ll be taking a similar approach now. Tamed Wyverns will deal 70% less damage and take 70% more damage. Tamed Rock Golems will deal 70% less damage and take 20x more damage. Alpha Wyverns will deal 67% less damage and take 67% more damage. These changes are only going to be made effective on Primitive servers, and again we’ll be seeing how things go. For now, the other dinos (other than the Giga, Ptero and Argent) remain unaffected. For a complete and more filling Primitive experience, we really recommend you guys try out Primitive+ - which has some pretty cool updates on the way, stay tuned for tomorrow’s Crunch. So there’s quite a lot to take in, and you may not completely agree with all our changes, be it Primitive, Cross ARK transfers, or even a heavy-handed approach to exploiters, but we’ll see how things go and will make more adjustments if necessary! Now for some great news. Very excited to share this! Lately, the team has been working pretty hard on tracking down this darn Dino Spawning in Bases issue that has been plaguing us for such a long time. and we think we’ve cracked it! Here’s a heat map of Dino Spawns that have taken place on an Official Server, indicating new wild spawn distance from bases & tames: Blue = Dino Spawns Red = Buildings Green = Tames Pretty nice eh? (The Areas where it still appears to overlap are underground Cave spawns!) So as always folks, thank you again for your commitment and passion that you show towards the ARK. We really value each of you and are grateful to have such an active community. Your feedback has proven to be an absolute game changer, ARK itself has evolved so much from where it originally was, a lot of plans have changed and the scope of the game has gotten a lot bigger than what we first intended it would be thanks to being able to work with you. Hopefully, this is another step forward towards making the ARK as great as we know it can be! All the best, Wildcard Jat and the ARK: Survival Evolved Team

Today, ARK: Survival Evolved has made its transition from an Early Access title to a full Digital and Retail release. As a studio, we are incredibly excited about reaching this milestone. It has been a challenging and emotional experience for everyone a part of the ARK world; we're overjoyed about finally being able to hold the complete ARK disc, and want to thank each one of you for joining us on this journey. ARK started out as a very ambitious project, in terms of scope of content, features, and the story. It was no secret that we were in for an adventure with what we were hoping to achieve alongside the community. It started out as a basic open-world survival game, with one ARK, one boss, about 30 creatures, and approximately a bazillion bugs give or take. It was hard to say where the game would lead us, regarding its story, and its development. Those of you who were with us for the Early Access launch had many questions about how the world came to be, why you were here, and where we were going. Today, you can begin to discover the answer to those questions. Over the past 26 months, the game has undergone massive improvements thanks to feedback from the community. We now launch with four ARKs - including the Norse & Scottish Highland-Inspired "Ragnarok" -, five bosses, over one hundred creatures to tame and encounter, the inclusion of the Primitive+ alternate game mode & Procedural ARKs, hundreds of mods, total User Interface overhauls, general performance enhancements, bug fixes, quality of life improvements, countless additional gameplay plus story elements, and... a toilet. With the “1.0” release version, you can experience the full story of ARK: Survival Evolved! Can you make it to the heart of the ARK and discover the shocking secret that lies buried within? While it may seem strange for a survival game to have a “single player” mode with an “ending”, we’re happy that surviving the ARK provides a measure of closure should you seek it, while also pointing the way to what comes next. Rest assured this complete version of the game will still be receiving regular updates, and this is not the end of the ARK saga, but only the beginning of the next phase, for great adventures and awe-inspiring new experiences are just around the corner… It won't be long before we add two new members to our ever growing family of critters (with the Otter joining us today on PC, with the Phoenix and additional Tek Gear coming later this week!), as well as items, additional gameplay elements and more. ARK has only just scratched the surface, and there is a long future ahead, survivors everywhere will get to experience something out of this world. Early Access hasn't been an easy or straightforward process; there is no established guidebook or instructions on how to take a game from early access, and into the full digital and physical retail release. You could say that we now understand why so few have done it. Having the community by our side, through thick and thin has been a key component to achieving this milestone. Sometimes we've made mistakes, and have had different opinions, but we truly appreciate each and every one of you. Your feedback, ideas, support, and passion through our Early Access journey have been vital to the development of the game and will continue to be invaluable to us. The community has undoubtedly influenced ARK for the better and contributed to its success and the landmark of reaching full digital and retail release. We encourage everyone who has ever wanted to ride a T-Rex, soar across the skies on the back of a Pteranodon, fish from their boat as the evening sun fades over the horizon, or explore the deepest caverns to encounter terrifying extinct predators, to join us in the living, dynamic world that is ARK: Survival Evolved. Whether online or off, solo or in a large tribe, we think that everyone will find something special to discover on the ARK and make it their home. Stay tuned for updates on the relaunch of our Official Server Network on our social media channels (@survivetheark), and watch this space over the course of this week for lots more exciting ARK news, hint hint! See you there!

Hello Survivors! We are very excited to share a titanic amount of news with you! Today at E3 with PC Gamer, we were able to reveal some of the upcoming updates coming to the ARK! First of all, let’s begin with what you’re all curious to hear about, our new gamemode… ARK: Primal Survival! ARK: Primal Survival is an upcoming Total Conversion where survivors will be able to play, live, and breed as any of the ARK’s creatures! Survivors will experience full survival mechanics and lifecycles, including mating, growing, recruiting more creatures to your ‘pack,’ even constructing primitive dens. Playing Primal Survival, which will launch later this year on PC and Xbox One as an Official Total Conversion, will allow survivors to experience; Live life as a Raptor, communicate and coordinate tactical attacks on other species. Spend your nights creepily crawling around the caves as the Araneo, catching your victims with your web spinning ability and spraying them paralyzing venom, while laying eggs to expand your brood! Work together as one to execute strategic attacks alongside your pack to chase and takedown prey! Train and protect your young through the harsh winters so that they are ready to join the hunt by the time they are full grown adults. Cuddle up with your cubs and forget about your worries and your strife whilst you spend the day fishing, wandering and roaming the land with your sleuth! Experience the ARK through the eyes of a Titanomyrma, building a thriving colony centered around ‘ant hills’, and survive against the elements and the dangers that the island brings! Furthermore the new functionality associated with this Primal Survival mode will also enable mod creators to build much more intricate mods involving playing as these various creatures and detailing their lifecycles & survival mechanics, with new capabilities for creating asymmetric gameplay modes. ;)! ? The Redwood Biome and Spotlight: Titanosaur! Releasing June 22 on Steam via the v243 update, and shortly thereafter on Xbox One, The Redwood Biome is an all-new biome filled with lush, giant trees sturdy enough in which to build treehouses and villages. Harvest lumber from these gigantic arbors to create your fortress super high up in the air, providing a safer place to to build a village as well as providing height advantage for a superb tactical defense stance, or tap into the massive redwoods to extract their sap for healthy concoctions. Also making its debut in ARK v243, the extremely rare Titanosaur (Titanosaurus Vagacastrum) is the largest creature found on ARK island, operating for many players as a mobile superfortress capable of ferrying obscene amounts of weight, structures, defenses and creatures upon its back. Essentially a walking mountain, this herbivore often crushes creatures and buildings within its path and takes issue with any creature invading his personal space. Primitive Plus Official Mod Launch! The second official mod, Primitive+, will launch directly within ARK: Survival Evolved on Thursday, July 28 for both PC and Xbox One players! Primitive+ explores the idea of what life may be like with common-day knowledge and resources provided by the land. It incorporates primitive tools and techniques that are still being used by indigenous tribes around the world today! Players are challenged to use primarily wood and stone without the benefit of advanced metals. A whole new set of items and detailed new mechanics focus the player on 'primitive' survival, which fits snugly in the world of ARK. Primitive+ will be playable as a functionality mod on all official ARK maps. The mod will include; - Over 100 primitive-themed structures - 3 ancient building tiers (adobe, lumber, brick & cement) - Diverse resource system - live off the land with 40 different resources - Primitive trapping system (deadfall trap / fishing traps) - Advanced farming - 10 historic crops and resources (Wheat, Barley, Coffee, Tea, etc) - 11 iconic weapons (Flintlock pistol, Musket, Viking Axe, Battleaxe, etc) - 60 types of food recipes to craft - Enhanced role-playing experience (market stalls for trading, meals, etc) With even more update and features to come! We hope you guys are excited for today’s announcements just as much as we are! And don’t worry, we’ve still got loads more exciting developments coming up this year, and we’re excited to continuing to work with you to create ARK: Survival Evolved and its many extended features! All the best, Wildcard Jat & the ARK: Survival Evolved Team

Ahoy Survivors, Jeremy and Jesse here! You might have noticed the announcement today of a new MMO game called ATLAS developed by a sister team of Studio Wildcard, named Grapeshot Games. Jesse and Jeremy together are now leading the development of ATLAS at Grapeshot, while continuing to creatively supervise the direction of ARK. Grapeshot itself is comprised of some original ARK team members as well as many new hires and operates as a separate dedicated dev team. The Wildcard team meanwhile has grown developing ARK and Extinction over the past year, led by Lead Programmer Chris Willoughby and Senior Producer Colin Tennery, and have been doing an excellent job bringing fresh ideas and QoL improvements to the game. As we work together with Chris, Colin, and the rest of the team, Wildcard will continue to support and expand ARK over the years to come bringing new features, fixes, and expansions into the game. Grapeshot meanwhile will grow in a direction oriented towards the operation of the persistent MMO service that ATLAS is, while both games will share technology and infrastructure improvements to complement each other. We’d like to thank everybody for their long-standing support, love of ARK, and enthusiasm for survival games, and we look forward to the adventures ahead! Keep on surviving, Jeremy and Jesse Co-Creative Directors of ARK and Co-Founders of Studio Wildcard

So another year has passed and with the help of our lovely community, we've been able to achieve so much! We want to take this post to take a look at what's happened over the past year for ARK, and some of the great community contributions that have been made to the game. It has been a very busy year for the ARK team and we've still got more to come! Our Community Faves! Over the past year there have been some amazing creations done by our community. We would be here all day showcasing all of them, so here is a highlight of just a few of our favourites. In addition to the modding contest we’ve held, we are now in the midst of a program that compensates modders for doing what they enjoy to do - making mods. It’s been exciting to see the community grow which includes welcoming people that are new to modding and showing them the ropes. You may not be aware, but we have an insanely active modding community. A huge thanks goes out to the admins at the unofficial modding discord. Don’t let that unofficial word scare you off! Stop by and you will quickly realize how official it is. With some of the best modders in our community, it shouldn’t be hard to find answers to the questions you are looking for. This community is also responsible for creating the ARKModding website. A place where you can find all sorts of resources if you’re looking to get modding in the ARK Development kit. The growth we’ve shown over the year keeps me excited for what’s to come. While we’re here, let’s take a look at some of my favorite mods to come across the workshop until now. Be advised that the majority of these mods may not be functional or no longer updated! Dino Racing:Evolved http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626642159 Maybe you’ve never wanted to race your dino’s but I know a lot of people, myself included, that have. It’s very common to see new structures and maps in the workshop, but this was something completely new. Something that showed a high level of understanding the development kit. It placed 4th in our International Modding Contest, and rightfully so. Mezzo, the creator, is also in our Sponsored Mod Program. Carts & Wagons http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=695990475 This is one of those ideas that makes so much sense, you wonder why it hadn’t been done before. This mod allows you to attach wagons that act as storage to dinos. This is no easy feat to pull off and from what I understand, MechanizedIT had some issues when working on his prototype. No worries, looks like he is back at it! Pocket Cages http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=709237905 Pocket Cages was a pretty cool take on a fairly popular game. It allowed you to toss a ball out that would capture a wild dino. You could then, pick up the ball, and release it wherever you wanted. I’m pretty sure some of the major kinks never got worked out but there’s always someone who could pick up the ball where he left it! Tribe Wars http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=547753876 Tribe wars is a PvP-based game that has some capture the flag and team deathmatch elements to it. Instead of capturing the flag, you are essentially trying to destroy it. The developer of the mod has moved on and now works at DICE, but it is an amazing example of what can be done in the development kit. Mad Mars What an amazing concept! This looked like it would be a Total Conversion, similar to Ark: Moon Survival. Sadly, this one never came to life. One can always dream! These are just a few of the amazing mods that have caught my eye over the past year. I have no doubts that next year's list will be just as impressive! Until next time! - Wildcard Ced ARK's Biggest Ever Steam Sale! Common Name: Megalosaurus Species: Megalosaurus Noctedominus Time: Mid Jurassic Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Nocturnal Wild Much like the Island’s other large theropods, Megalosaurus Noctedominus is an aggressive carnivore that should not be taken lightly. Unlike most of the other theropods, it is a primarily nocturnal creature. As dawn approaches, Megalosaurus begins looking for a secluded place to spend the day sleeping in relative safety. Conversely, if disturbed during the day, Megalosaurus is significantly more sluggish. Either way, however, its primary combat tactic is to bite onto its target then lock its jaws shut in an iron-strength grip. Only larger creatures can hope to break free once Megalosaurus locks its jaw. The creature then proceeds to gnaw on its prey until death. It’s a terrifying, grisly spectacle to watch, and a formidable tactic for a tribe to employ against more nimble opponents. Domesticated While Megalosaurus is not the most powerful theropod, it is still highly sought after by night-raiders. Due to its nocturnal nature, Megalosaurus becomes much more formidable at night -- dodging attacks, conserving stamina, and attacking more accurately, to name a few of its enhanced talents.

Hello Survivors! We were encouraged by Valve to rally the Community to come together and vote in the upcoming Steam Awards. We thought what better way to do this than add a modern-day farmyard animal! In our excitement, Ovis Aries was designed as a fun celebration of the nomination. We want to make it clear that regardless of whether ARK wins a Steam Award or not, Ovis will be making its debut in the next major ARK version update! If you hadn't caught up, ARK has been nominated by the Steam Selection Committee for a Steam Award! We are a finalist in this category; The “Best Use Of A Farm Animal” Award - Animals are rad and almost any game is better for including them. This game used a farm animal in the best way possible. Voting has begun, and we'd appreciate if everyone can vote today at http://store.steampowered.com/SteamAwards/! We are really honored by the nomination, and are thankful for all the support plus ARK’s recognition in this category. Whilst ARK’s animals may be non-traditional in modern farming, some have held such roles in the past, and ARK contains a variety of animal farming mechanics: such as wild animal taming, breeding, slaughtering/harvesting of animals, workhorse animals (for resource/crop farming), and of course who can forget working with animal byproducts (manure, milk, and other substances). Thank you and happy shearing (& mutton chopping) in ARK v254

Common Name: Giant Bee Species: Apis Lithohermaea Time: Middle Miocene Diet: Floravore Temperament: Territorial Wild In the wild, Apis Lithohermaea Drones never stray far from their nests, which they build high in the Island’s Redwood trees or on rocky cliffsides. Apis Drones can be seen swarming around the nest in groups, but to get a look at the Queen Apis, one would need to crack open the nest itself. Speaking from experience, this is not a pleasant task, as the untameable Apis Drones are quite territorial. I probably should have that one coming, in hindsight. Take caution: Apis stings will significantly weaken any creature which suffers them, and because its stinger is not barbed, Apis can sting multiple times without its stinger being ripped away. Domesticated A tamed Apis Queen will lay new drone eggs, and construct a nest that survivors can farm for honey, so long as they remember to wear specialised bee-keeping gear. Said honey is not only sweet and delicious, but laced with scents that land mammals find irresistible. Many hunters use it to bait their traps. Apis Drones will also follow their Queen into battle, so they can be used for self-defence in a pinch.

The Final Stretch Survivors! Patch 254 is a tech-focused patch introducing new armour, structures, game mechanics, and for new friends will be available to discover, tame, and train as Survivors make their way towards defeating the Ultimate Lifeform. We are excited to introduce TEK Tier Phase 1, Hairstyles & Facial Hair, Jousting, the fluffy Ovis, the piscivorous Baryonyx, the beloved Basilosaurus, and the pouncing Purlovia! TEK Tier is the end-game technology tier in our crafting system and as of Patch 254, players will be able to get their first taste of the content. As we progress towards release, we will be introducing more features and structures based around TEK. This update is our introductory phase and includes a power armour set, the TEK Replicator, used for crafting and the TEK Transmitter, used for the CrossARK System. TEK Tier earned & powered by defeating Bosses and collecting their Element will put players in power armour granting them advanced abilities, and add powerful TEK Saddles with mounted energy weapons to the capabilities of some of their favourite dinos, including your favourite apex predator, the T-Rex! Players will be able to use the TEK armour to evolve their abilities, from how they fight: to how they travel: with many more additional features and structures to come! It should be noted that we will still be adding in technology and structures to other tech-tiers of the game throughout development! Another long awaited feature for ARK will be making its debut today. We want to provide the opportunity to allow players to express themselves through their character design as much as possible! As characters play on their ARKs their hair and facial hair will begin to grow over time. Using scissors, and the hairstyling knowledge they have acquired through playing the game they'll be able to dye, cut, trim and style to the appearance that they prefer! Over time we'll be introducing more hairstyles and facial hair options, as well as looking into further ways that players will be able to discover their style! Patch 254 also includes a menagerie of new creatures for Survivors to get a hold of! Ovis Aries, our favourite farmyard animal! Ovis stands little chance against the Island's many predators, its continued survival in the face of these severe challenges in a mystery to all. Survivors have found herds of Ovis to be useful in farm life. Their thick wool can be repeatedly sheared with the proper tools, and after raised they are often slaughtered for their mutton which is used to cook lamb chops. Despite their vulnerabilities, some survivors have humorously attempted to utilise Ovis as a mount, since it can clamber up steeper inclines than many other animals. Basilosaurus Solatiumfecit, one of the strangest creatures surrounding the island. It has proven to be a very powerful swimmer which has adapted to shallow waters quite remarkably, such that it will rapidly recover from injuries when near the water's surface. The creature is usually followed around by other predatory creatures, as its eating habit leaves scraps for scavengers to consume. Its blubber is found to be incredibly greasy so survivors often slaughter the Basilosaurus for oil. Purlovia Maxima, the carnivore which perfectly embodies the element of surprise. An incredibly patient hunter, used by tribes in staging an ambush or as a village guardian. With tamed packs of Purlovia, survivors have often assembled a minefield of deadly claws and teeth, ready to pounce their enemies and prey. Baryonyx Aquafulgur, one of the smaller of the large predators. The Baryonyx is an extremely fast swimmer who is still nimble enough to threaten most creatures on the island. Baryonyx makes an ideal choice for anyone interested in frequently moving between water and land travel with ease and valuing speed and agility over raw strength. The highly specific metabolism of Baryonyx seems to allow it to heal wounds almost preternaturally fast after feeding on nutritious fish meat. Patch 254 also introduces the highly-requested weapon, the Lance and the ability for survivors to joust one another. Ride to your nearest stadium, and compete head to head with other Survivors! Jousting requires a certain amount of skill from survivors, as the weight of the lance has made it difficult for ungifted riders to correctly control their mount, however with the right amount of practice it has proven to be a great tool to knock other survivors off of their tames! Not to mention a number of QOL changes (Pressing the [TAB] key to switch between chat channels, and directionally jumping off your mounts plus more!) and bug fixes (Fixes to how players seep through geometry, the infamous Allosaurus 'raiding' bug, and more!) You can check out the entire patch notes here: We are planning to release the patch today at 20:00 EST! There's not long to go! Plus in the meantime we've also put up the notes for our next upcoming patch which you can read about here: Upcoming Version: v255, ETA: February 20 - New Dino: Electrophorus! - New Dino: Microraptor! - New Dino: Ammonite! - New Dino: Thylacoleo! - New Mechanic: Tek Underwater Bases - New Structure: Tek Power Generator - New Structure: Tek Shield Generator - New Structure: Tek Tileset & Tek Doors - Four additional head hairstyles and four additional facial hairstyles, unlockable by acquiring Explorer Notes [MORE NOTES TO COME!] ARK: TEK Tier Sale! Biome Update: Snow Extension & New Redwood Forests! ARK v243 brings forth many changes: The Island, as it has come to be known to its inhabitants, has undergone a new makeover, with the addition of the Redwood Forest and the extension of the Snow biome! Littered throughout the Redwood and Snow biome are new Ruins, which will later contain collectable story notes about the history of the ARK. Take refuge among the Redwood trees with new Wood and Metal Tree Platforms! Live like a Furry Forest Creature in these massive trees! Tap into the massive redwoods to extract their sap for healthy concoctions using the new Tree Sap Taps. Reach new heights with the Retractable Rope Ladders. Extend or retract these flimsy ladders, which are good for letting allies onto your ramparts while keeping the enemy out. There is a whole new way of life to explore! Titanosaur! This gargantuan creature -- potentially the largest ever in a multiplayer action shooter -- potentially the largest creature ever in a multiplayer action game -- slowly roams the ARK, and is neither friend nor foe. Whichever Tribes can successfully tame the beast -- which is no easy feat -- can gain a massive benefit to their forces. Unable to be tamed like a traditional creature you may be used to, and being extremely rare, the Titanosaur will certainly be a prized possession to any tribe who can successfully claim one. Alongside the biomes and the new creature, players will be able to take advantage of more new items including: The Gas Mask! Wearing this protective breathing apparatus will help Survivors avoid Diseases and poisonous gas. The Chain Bola Ammo for Ballista Turret! You've experience the regular bola, but now you can bring huge creatures to their knees, temporarily, by entangling them in these gigantic metal bolas. Update v243 also includes a long list of other awesome features, fixes, and improvements: New Mechanic: Custom Tripwire Alarm Notifications via SurviveTheArk.com (E-mail and Forum). Optionally Tribes can post to arbritrary URL, if they have a custom system! Now if someone's raiding your base, you can get on top of it! New Item: Herbivore "TastyCakes", help your herbivores regen health faster GroundClutter effect extended 50% further and +20% more GPU efficiency Balled Doed's are no longer invincible to Tamed Dino melee attacks -- now just very, very resistant to them. Magnfiying Glass now displays creature Torpor stats (on Wild creatures too). Tribe Alliances now disabled in Offline Raid mode (too complex to determine if anyone in an Alliance is around), C4/Traps can no longer be placed near Offline-Raid Protected Structures, and Offline-Raid mode now forces all Structures to be Lockable so that players can "Lock" Crop Plots to prevent their turrets from being disabled. New Server Option: "?PreventTribeAlliances=true" to prevent tribe alliances Engagement with Wild Naturally-Fleeing & Small creatures (tiny bugs etc) no longer trigger combat music Tamed Dinos that are following a submerged allied Target will not attempt to float to the surface of the water, but rather will attempt to stay at the depth of their allied Target. (helpful when deliberately going deep-diving your tamed land Dinos). However, Dinos that are capable of suffocating will try to surface if they are out of Oxygen regardless! Vaults can no longer be dropped onto saddle platforms Transfer-All/Drop-All methods now only drop/transfer what is currently disabled in the inventory, respecting any filters/folders you may have active (so for example, if you're within a folder, it will only transfer those items, or if you have a text filter active, etc). Fixed an issue where pillars were not being calculated correctly as foundations when building pillars downwards Massive +33% rendering gains with any translucent rendering (particles, greenhouse windows, etc). We're very excited for you to get your hands on these new biomes, features, and the Titanosaur. Good luck in taking on the Titanosaur, I think you're going to need it. ARK: Survival Evolved is celebrating it's 3rd birthday today! It's been three whole years since we first entered into Early Access on Steam. The game has grown tremendously, from walking naked on a beach to defeating the Ultimate Lifeform! We have loved each and every moment of development, meeting you at events, hosting streams, and watching your content. Thank you so much for all the support you've shown us over the last 3 years. We are truly grateful and in celebration have something special in store for our community! The Countdown Begins! The countdown to our special event begins! Survivors can look forward to some epic discoveries with new content and challenges, and we'll have even more exciting news coming in the middle of the month, so stay tuned! ARK: Evolution Event! Survivors across ALL Platforms will be receiving a special Evolution Event perk this weekend! It will be active from the Friday the 1st of June at 3 PM EST until Monday the 4th of June at 3 PM EST. All Official Servers across each platform will be undergoing this evolutionary change which includes: 2x Harvesting Rates 2x Taming Rates 2x Maturation Rates 2x Mating and Egg Hatching Rates 2x EXP Rates Year Three of ARK! So many amazing things have happened in the world of ARK over the past year. With the help of our vibrant community, we have been able to achieve quite a lot! Today we're taking a look back on all we have accomplished, and taking the time to feature a handful of some of the amazing creations from the community. ARK's third year started out with a bang with the release of the map Ragnarok in June. Along with the map came the Griffin, a very popular and speedy flying mount that spawns only on Ragnarok. After two years we left early access and officially released ARK in September. After ARK's Official release, we continued to pump out content and introduced our dear friends the Otter and Phoenix! With the official release came the first of the live action ARK trailers. At PAX West we released the first details and trailer for our latest expansion pack, ARK: Aberration. We attended TwitchCon a month later in October and the event was the publics first taste of ARK: Aberration. At the beginning of November ARK: Survival Evolved became available on the Xbox One X and with it came our second live action trailer. In November we participated once again in the Extra Life campaign raising money for sick kids charities. Together we raised $60,000 over the course of our 24 hour live stream on Twitch. ARK: Aberration released in the middle of December, bringing an entirely new world to explore and strange creatures to battle and befriend. The beginning of 2018 saw the first of the TLC pass conducted on five creatures: the Rex, Procoptodon, Gigantopithecus, Direwolf, and Direbear. In March we announced ARK: Survival Evolved on Mobile, being developed by our partner War Drum Studios. And shortly after ARK for the Nintendo Switch was announced too! Not long after ARK Park was released, a virtual world experience of ARK developed by Snail Games. And PixARK came next, combining a voxel base universe with the world of ARK, also developed by Snail Games. And most recently to the world of ARK, TLC 2 was unveiled, bringing a new look and new abilities to the Argentavis, Parasaur, Raptor, Sarco, Spino, and Trike. While I have not been the Mod Community Manager for this full past year, I have been a part of the modding community for it. I have watched it grow and change. The last year has seen a considerable shift in modding. The community has been evolving in their understanding of the Dev Kit, more people are learning how to take advantage of the features of UE4, and knowledge is shared more freely than ever. The Sponsored Mod Program as well has seen some significant roster changes. We have had some longtime favorites in the program, such as Survival Plus. Some have significantly expanded, such as Eco's decor and RP mods, or the ISO: Crystal Isles map. We have also seen some excellent talent step from the shadows as we did with immersive taming. I have also watched the mod authors work together to create linkages between mods. The Auction House is starting to get methods to allow other mods to change the visual theme of the mod. Dragonpunk has been pulling together mods of its creation but also building with other mods in mind and incorporating them into their hosted servers. It's been an excellent year for modding, and I will continue to encourage the healthy and cooperative tone that the modding community has been adopting. Thank You! On behalf of everyone here at Studio Wildcard, thank you for joining us on this journey and for being an awesome member of our Tribe!

Happy Tuesday, Survivors! Normally our news posts go out on Friday, but we've got some exciting and also important news to share today. Let's go! Aberration Release Date! We are excited to announce we have a release date for Aberration: December 12th of this year. All of us here at Studio Wildcard have been working diligently to progress through the Aberration workflow in anticipation of getting it into your hands. Aberration will be an ARK experience unlike anything survivors have seen so far. We hope you are all as excited as we are for its release! Update on Turrets A few days ago we announced a big change to the game wherein we would be limiting the use of turrets within a radius on our Official Servers. We have been keeping track of all the feedback, reading all the threads, and we understand that this is an important change. Therefore, we'll be making some modifications to our initial plan in order to deal with the concerns that have arisen, as well as ensure a smoother transition to the new turret system for all players. Here's what's going down: We are no longer hard-limiting turrets on the 5th of December, that timeline has changed. We still plan to hard-limit them, but it'll be pushed further out now that we'll be introducing a new kind of turret into the mix. Here's the new plan: PC players can expect the new "Heavy Turret" on the 27th, it will launch with an active server-side turret limit specifically for "Heavy Turrets". We'll take the time to monitor player feedback and our official servers to see if there's anything that we missed, so then we'll have time to consider how to fix and address those concerns. This means that if you're over the visual limit on your regular Auto Turrets, you'll be fine (for now). However, you won't be able to place the Heavy Turrets, unless you're within the limit. We recommend taking advantage of this time to slowly transition your base to using the new Heavy Turrets over the old ones. When Aberration releases on the 12th December, it will have the turret hard-limit enabled on that map from the get-go. This means that neither regular Auto Turrets or Heavy Turrets can be placed on Aberration above the limit. After some time -- likely in the latter half of December -- this change will be enabled on the other maps, however, we'll be providing 2 weeks notice beforehand so you can make any adjustments as necessary. The idea is that you can immediately use the Heavy Turrets in the meantime to prepare for the change while ensuring your base remains well-defended. Console players can expect to see the arrival of the Heavy Turret when the Aberration launches. By this time, the Heavy Turret would have gone through multiple balance passes. The reason we opted to take this route is that we want to make sure it's in a good state before it went live on the console. Unfortunately, we don't have the ability to rapidly iterate as we do on PC, due to the cert process. Console will ultimately follow the same hard-limit activation as PC, albeit several weeks after the hard-limit is activated on PC. For those who hadn't seen some of our previous dialogue on the change, you can check out this short blurb post by Senior Technical & Gameplay Designer, Kayd Hendricks (aka TheRightHand). He covers what are our current thought-processes are, as well as shares some information that we had discussed previously. Additional News! PlayStation 4 SIEA (Americas) Season Pass Skins Great news guys! Sony has enabled the skins on the backend and they should be available for players to acquire in game! As Sony marks the Season Pass bonuses as DLC, players will need to head into the PlayStation Store via their console dashboard and download them (they're free!). Xbox Play Anywhere In addition to the Aberration update, barring any cert issues, Xbox will receive the Play Anywhere update on December 12th. This update will allow crossplay between the Windows 10 version of ARK and the Xbox version. Survivors will be able to choose to allow crossplay on their unofficial servers or non-dedicated sessions with a simple checkbox on the host menu. Holiday Events! We'd like to wish all survivors out there a Happy Thanksgiving and hope that have a great weekend! As for our plans, we will not be hosting an event for Thanksgiving this year due to our efforts being focused on Aberration and getting it out in December. We apologise for the lack of event this time of year, we love hosting holiday events, but unfortunately, we just didn't have the time to do so. Though, with Christmas around the corner, you won't have to wait long for a special Christmas themed Holiday Event! Black Friday ARK Sales! Hello Survivors! Studio Wildcard is proud to announce ARK’s second expansion pack, “Aberration”! Launching in 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam, in “ARK: Aberration” Survivors will find themselves waking up on a derelict, malfunctioning ARK with an elaborate underground biome system, where they will face exotic new challenges unlike anything before: extreme radioactive sunlight and environmental hazards, ziplines, wingsuits, climbing gear, cave dwellings, charge-batteries, and far more, along with a stable of extraordinary new creatures await within the mysterious depths. But beware the ‘Nameless’: unrelenting, Element-infused humanoids which have evolved into vicious light-hating monstrosities! You’ll uncover the ultimate secrets of the ARKs, and discover what the future holds in store for those strong and clever enough to survive! AN ARK GONE AWRY Aberration places survivors on a damaged ARK: its internal atmosphere has leaked away, resulting in a harsh surface with intense radiation, and a plethora of lush biomes underground. With the maintenance systems of this ARK malfunctioning, the many hazards, creatures, and nature of the environment present a thrilling new world to explore and master. TAME NEW CREATURES The intense radiation of Aberration has led to incredible genetic mutations, resulting in new creatures with amazing abilities! Among others, clamber up walls & glide through the air on the back of a camouflaging chameleon-like ‘Rock Drake’, keep the dark at bay with a friendly ‘Lantern Pug’, grab and toss multiple creatures simultaneously with a massive ‘Cave Crustacean’, or -- if you are talented enough to tame one -- command the vile ‘Nameless Queen’ to impregnate your foes with a horrifying reproductive chest-burster! CRAFT OVER 50 NEW ITEMS New tools are on-hand to survive on the world of Aberration, while opening up many possibilities for new competitive and cooperative scenarios. Traverse the ARK using cave-climbing picks, gliding wingsuits, and ziplines. Learn advanced engrams to dominate the harsh environment, protect yourself with hazmat outfits, charge lanterns, explosive rounds, batteries, glowsticks, railguns and much more. Thrive by gathering new resources, using fishing baskets, gas collectors, fortify your home within the caverns using cliff structures, and much more! CONQUER NEW CHALLENGES Earthquakes, radiation exposure, gas leaks, and Element chambers are among the many hazards that survivors will learn to grapple with Aberration’s varied biomes, both aboveground and below the surface. But among the greatest challenges on this ruined ARK is the hierarchy of unrelenting Nameless, requiring constant vigilance & Charge Energy to defend against! And in the deepest depths of Aberration, their terrifying -- yet somehow familiar -- master awaits… will YOU be among the survivors powerful enough to face him? Season Pass Aberration will be available as a standalone expansion pack ($19.99) and as part of the ARK Season Pass (or the ARK: Explorers Edition). Owners of ARK Season Pass / Explorers Edition will get exclusive in-game Aberration-themed cosmetic item skins, immediately on Steam and in the coming days on Xbox One and PlayStation 4! The Aberration Helmet, formed from the damaged ARK's obsidian-like underground rock, creates an imposing presence for Survivors who wear it. The Aberration Sword, forged from the Element Crystals that run within the deepest chambers of the ARK, emits a subtle glow to strike fear into your enemies. PAX West! This weekend Studio Wildcard will be joined by PAX Rex and its’ new gigantic friend at PAX West in Seattle. We invite you to join us in person at the Studio Wildcard Booth in North Hall at Booth 815 or on our Twitch channel to which we will be streaming throughout the weekend to celebrate ARK’s launch and have the WC devs discuss ARK with you in real-time! Patch v257 finds its way buzzing onto the ARK with hives worth of content, featuring four new creatures, TEK cloning chamber, advanced TEK warfare in the form of a new turret, a TEK saddle, and a grenade; not to mention a UI overhaul, updated music tracks, the volcano redesign, the TEK Cave, Ascension for end game progression, TheCenter mega update, and many more magical things! As we get deeper into ARK's TEK Tier, today's update introduces the following new element powered gear and structures: TEK Megalodon Saddle! Do we really need to say anything? Your sharks can now shoot lasers, all our childhood dreams have come true. TEK Turret and TEK Grenades! Enhance your combat and defensive abilities. The TEK Turret, is an updated and upgraded version of the Auto Turret, shooting much more powerful laser blasts at your opponents, as well as advanced TEK AI which will allow for much more targeting options. The TEK Grenade, an updated and upgraded version of the Grenade granting it the ability to stick to a target and deal explosive damage after a short time. TEK Cloning Chamber! Survivors now have the ability to clone their favourite creatures for the cost of Element Shards. Creatures will retain their level, appearance, and stats. TEK Tier content is a wave of sci-fi-themed, end-game features that reward hard-working Survivors with awesomely futuristic gear and guns. Players wanting TEK Tier loot will need to gather the newly introduced Element resource, which is granted after successfully completing Boss Arenas, or it's finer version Element Shards, which can be obtained via crafting at a TEK Replicator or grinding Element. Each Boss has three difficulty levels (Gamma, Beta, Alpha) and after defeating the respective Boss are awarded unique TEK Knowledge engrams, element and other general Boss Rewards. Collect the Element, then use the TEK Replicator to craft all TEK items! Apis Lithohermaea, more commonly known as the Giant Bee, never stray far from their nests which can be found high in the Island's Redwoods, the rocky cliffsides, and uncommonly in the Canyons of Scorched Earth. The drones can be seen swarming around the nest in groups, but to get a look at the Queen Apis, survivors would need to crack open the nest itself. The untamable drones themselves are quite territorial and will do whatever it takes to protect the Queen. A tamed Queen will lay new drone eggs, and construct a hive which survivors can farm for honey. The honey is a sweet and delicious resource which creatures of the ARK find irresistible. It has commonly been used by hunters to bait their traps and lure them in for slaughtering or taming. Daeodon Comedentis, is the largest known species of Entelodont, an omnivorous family of ancient mammals that are sometimes referred to as "Hell Pigs". Not one of the friendliest creatures of the ARK, they are known to have a very territorial attitude to any survivor that wanders too close to their feeding grounds. Often spotted around the Island's dry grasslands, as well as the sandy beaches. Many tribes have made excellent use of the Daeodon, due to its unusually high metabolism it has the remarkable ability to heal itself and even more extraordinarily, this rapid regeneration is known to affect nearby allies. Therefore it is often a choice for raiding, boss, and hunting parties. This special ability has certainly made its high rate of food consumption worth the upkeep. Liopleurodon Magicus, is a very interesting specimen. There are rumours circulating the tribes of The Island claiming that this beast has magical properties, however, the sightings have been rare so it's hard to decipher old tribe tales from the actual truth. Whatever the case, this mythical creature has been said to have the ability to reward the adventurous survivors who tame it, the special attribute of luck. Treasure hunting tribes who have encountered the beast have used this magic to obtain loot beyond their wildest dreams. You're probably wondering why these claims are tales, well it's said that the Lucky Liopleurodon's magic is so powerful, it cannot be kept under control, and after some time, it harnesses this power to get away. Kentrosaurus Aethiopicus, a considerably smaller herbivore than its close relative, the Stegosaurus Regium. However, what it lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in formidability. In fact, it is argued that this creature is the pound for pound champion of not only the Stegosauria, but when fighting in close-knit encounters, it ranks atop the Island's herbivorous dinosaurs in general. Survivors have seen little success in their attempts to ride the Kentrosaurus, owing to its spike and hot-headed temperament. Nonetheless, a tamed herd of Kentrosaurus can defend a compound as well as take on many larger carnivores. One swing of its deadly tail can impale creatures, as well as the risks involved in fighting such a spiky foe, are unavoidable. The Volcano Redesign and the TEK Cave! As of Patch 257, The Volcano finally receives its long overdue, scorching redesign! Upon arriving at this key destination on The Island, survivors will see a dormant volcano, as well as the entrance to the TEK Cave. It will be no small feat to make it through this blisteringly difficult cave, where the ARKs deadliest foes are known to live. Upon completing the cave (with its multiple difficulties), survivors will Ascend. ..There's so much in this patch that we haven't gone through yet! In addition to everything above, here are the rest of the notes: - More UI overhauls - New Hairstyle and Facial Hair - Approximately 20+ New Explorer Notes - 15 new music tracks, per-biome and situational - Full Gamepad input pass (i.e. console gamepad functionality) - Fixed issue with Cave spawns not functioning properly in singleplayer - The Center mega-update! - New Emote - Engram Tree Revamp - Alpha Megalodon - All Alphas have their own APEX Items ARK: Evolution Event Weekend! Survivors across ALL Platforms will be receiving a special Evolution Event perk this weekend! It will go live once the patch has released and will last until Monday the 8th at 12 PM EST. All Official Servers will be undergoing this evolutionary change which includes: 1.5x Harvesting Rate 1.5x Taming Rate 1.5x EXP Rate The patch will be releasing later today, it's a few hours out still. Once we've got a more specific ETA, we'll let you know! Be sure to follow us on @survivetheark for all the latest information! Thank you Survivors! We hope you enjoy the update!

Common Name: Archaeopteryx Species: Archaeopteryx Magnamilvum Time: Late Jurassic Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Fearful Wild Approximately one meter long, the Archaeopteryx Magnamilvum is a primarily tree-dwelling proto-bird. It avoids the ground as much as possible, preferring to stay in the safety of the trees, where few predators can reach it. I’ve not seen an Archaeopteryx outright fly yet, so it’s possible that they can’t generate enough lift to do more than glide long distances between perches. I’m not sure how a creature as fearful of the ground can be such a picky eater, but Archaeopteryx only seems to consume certain rare insect matter. The most likely explanation is that it tends to nest in infested trees, stripping them bare of such food sources. Domesticated While not large enough to bare the full weight of an adult human, Archaeopteryx still has great utility. Despite the creature’s inability to fly, its wings have sufficient strength to dramatically slow the rate of a person’s descent if that person holds Archaeopteryx while airborne. Taming Archaeopteryx can be somewhat troublesome, though, as it refuses to eat most common food sources, and glides to prospective safety at the first sign of any interloper.

Hey, Survivors! As we enter the final hours before launch, we just wanted to get some vital information out to you! Day One Patch! The Day One patch will be set live across all platforms at approximately 8-9AM EST and should show up on all consoles within the hour. This update will include Ragnarok for console, as well as the End Boss content accessed through the Tek Cave for all platforms. The update size for console will be approximately 26gb for Xbox. We do not have a number for PS4 yet, but PS4 patches are usually smaller in size due to the different method patches are submitted. New ARK Servers! The Official Server Network for PC will be going offline at 2 AM EST, and The Official Server Network for Consoles will be offline at Midnight EST. There will be at least an 8-hour blackout across all platforms where no Officials are online. After this blackout period, we will launch the new Official Servers, as well as the remaining Legacy servers. Over the course of the 24-hours following this, more servers will come online. For ARKs launch, we plan on providing new Official Servers for the following games mode: Regular/Vanilla, Non-TEK, Primitive+, Hardcore, Isolated Clusters, NoTaming, Extinction Servers and ORP. With the bulk of the servers being focused on the vanilla game mode (Both PVP and PVE), and smaller amounts of niche servers which could be increased based on player demand. The primitive game mode will be removed in favour of the Non-TEK Tier Servers. PC Asian/China Servers! The current Isolated PC PvP Asian Servers we have on our Official Network is hosted and provided by Snail Games. They have decided that with the launch, they will be taking down their legacy PvP Servers and relaunching them as part of the new Official Network. These servers will be included in our CrossARK Cluster, and therefore will be transferable to and from as opposed to being an isolated region. ARK Legacy Save Files! Later this week, we will have both our PS4 and PC Legacy Save Files available to use. PS4 is expected to be here sometime tomorrow and will be accessible via hosting with Nitrado. Due to sensitive information contained in the save files, it is required to be accessed and hosted through a licensed third-party. Xbox saves will become available when rentable servers are available in September. It's going to be an exciting 24 hours! We hope you enjoy all the new content; we're super stoked to be launching Ragnarok on console and best of luck in the claim for land on the new servers!

Common Name: Basilosaurus Species: Basilosaurus Solatiumfecit Time: Late Eocene Diet: Piscivore Temperament: Passive Wild One of the stranger creatures in the waters surrounding the island is Basilosaurus Solatiumfecit. It’s a powerful swimmer which has adapted to the shallows so remarkably well such that it rapidly recovers from injuries when near the water’s surface. Conversely, it’s vulnerable to deep water pressure, which slowly cause it harm. Basilosaurus is usually closely followed around by other predatory creatures, as its eating habits leave a large amount of scraps for other scavengers to consume. It's a gentle creature towards humans, and happily takes food directly from them. However, the creature which trail the ‘Basi’ tend to become dangerously enraged whenever this happens, as it leaves no leftovers for them. Domesticated Despite the hassle of engaging with its ornery followers, many tribes still attempt to tame the Basilosaurus, as its mammalian warm-blooded circulation provides a rider with perfect comfort from both heat and cold. Alternatively, Basilosaurus is hunted - perhaps too vigorously - for its special blubber, which can be refined into a far more efficient form of gasoline. ---- Don't forget that the initial submission period for the mod contest changed and the new date for submissions ending period is the following: · Submission: April the 1st Better hurry Mod makers!

A new Dino Dossier has been revealed, this one is everyone’s favourite fleeing foodie, the Moschops! Common Name: Moschops Species: Moschops cibumutante Time: Mid Permian Diet: Omnivore Temperament: Cowardly Wild: Moschops cibumutante in the wild is a lethargic, cowardly creature that primarily lives in the forests of the island, primarily making its home among the great redwoods of the West. It survives by being extremely flexible in its eating habits and completely averse to fighting. It never starves, since it can eat just about anything. Moschops runs at the slightest provocation, but is still often preyed upon. Domesticated: What makes Moschops particularly interesting is what it can be trained to do with its eating habits. With a versatile palate and tough teeth, Moschops can be tamed for a unique ability: over time it can be taught exactly which things to gnaw, increasing the likelihood of harvesting that exact resource which its master desires. For example, teach it to prioritize chewing Prime Meat, and Prime Meat will be easier to harvest from the flesh it consumes. Likewise for rare plants materials, and so forth! Just don't expect Moschops to protect, though. Even after taming, it will quickly flee when enemies are nearby. Regardless of being fed well, increasing its strength, or how much affection you shower on it--Moschops retains its inherent cowardly nature!

Today we are proud and excited to announce the launch of the ARK Sponsored Mod Program. ARK has always viewed modding and the ARK Dev Kit as a very important aspect of our game. We want to look into ways to help our modders take their projects to the next step, be it through more robust capabilities in the Dev Kit, hosting competitions with large prize-pools, incorporating them into the game, or just generally working and partnering up with modders and their projects. Since partnering up with Epic and opening up our ARK Dev Kit in July 2015 and we have seen over 2,500 different mods enter our Steam Workshop. It is an understatement to say how much we truly appreciate and value our modding community and want to do more to help facilitate the progress of mods, as well as modders. ARK Mods have contributed mightily to the game's longevity and variety, and we’re very grateful to the talented content creators who make them. With the new 'ARK Sponsored Mods' program, we aim to be able to support some of the most promising authors directly, and continue to attract the world's most talented Modders to build amazing new content for ARK. We believe our latest initiative will allow us to take the next step into assisting modders further. The Sponsored Mods project aims to provide financial, development, and marketing supporting over the course of sponsorship. We will be providing a $4,000 stipend towards player made mod projects each month to assist with ongoing development costs of their projects, with a possibility of completed mods being integrated into the Official Release of ARK: Survival Evolved on PC and Console. Our first batch of modders that have been selected for sponsorship can be viewed here: https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/ark-sponsored-mods/ Over the course of sponsorship, the modders will be working with us, and in particular, Cedric Burkes (Creator of Primitive+ and Studio Wildcard Mod Liason) to see how they progress over the month. They will go through reviews to make sure that bug reports players have made are being resolved, and that their projects are progressing and developing. Sponsorship can end for a mod if progress isn’t being made, and we are keeping our eyes open for other modders who we can potentially work with! For those of you who are itching to get Modding in ARK, you can get started right away! The ARK Dev Kit is a simplified version of the Unreal Engine 4 Editor, specifically compiled to streamline the process of creating Mods, Maps, and Total Conversions for ARK: Survival Evolved which can then be uploaded directly to Steam Workshop for other users to download and play. Follow the "How To Mod" tutorial to get started, then join the ARK community, participate in the Unreal Engine ARK Modding forum to get your modding underway!

Each team were sporting stylish blue and red Santa hats respectively, but ultimately only one tribe could prevail as victorious! Congratulations goes out to our winners and all of the contestants who made the first event of our new Total Conversion mod incredibly entertaining to watch! Highlights Video! Following our festive charity battle, we reached out to content creators on Twitter requesting an ARK: Survival of the Fittest - Naughty or Nice Highlights Video! Awarding 500$ to the video we enjoyed the most! Congratulations to Valoule who’s SoTF highlight video was very enjoyable and quite hypnotic! We also had some other great entries from more ARK Survivors and as a thank you for putting a highlight video together, we’ll be awarding you with 100$ each! 0slyde A2_Dtox GamerPerfection Xbox Contest - The Hunt for the Bionic Rex! On the 15th of December we announced a contest where we would award a Survivor 200$, if they were the first to obtain a Bionic Rex skin on an Official PvP server and tweet us a screenshot! On the 30th of December, https://twitter.com/Fusion_V7 managed this, so congratulations to them! and speaking of the Xbox - worry not survivors as early next week you’ll be receiving a content update where our latest friend will be hopping itself over to your islands! Patch 231.3 Balance Changes! We've rolled out an additional patch to the balance values we altered earlier. These new numbers will still help tackle the issue of over-inflated creature stats however will help alleviate some of the concerns that have been brought up over the past two days. We're interested in hearing your feedback so please let us know what you think about the new changes and your main concerns regarding the state of balance in ARK. Please make sure that you're playing on an Official Server with the latest version (231.3) or your private-server is running the latest version and has no other customization so that we're able to make full use of your feedback and get a clearer understanding of the state of the game. Thank you guys! Megathreads for comments: Survivetheark Steam Reddit ARK Digest Q+A Yeah it should be mostly primes! We’ll make this change in the next update. On a Live Public Server (unlike in a Single Player Game or Non-Dedicated Host Mode), Wild creature spawns/despawns can be randomized based on a number of factors, including server performance. Only by tranq-ing them out are you fully guaranteed they’re going to stick around indefinitely. Yes actually that is currently being programmed Their arenas are being finished up right now! We’re looking into that. Can’t confirm anything yet though! That sounds like a pretty neat idea, we’ll likely get around to it. There’s going to be a massive desert. Haha we like the sound of this :-D Basically you need to leave an animal (or person) around for it to hunt. Last team to knock out the animal gets the credit for Affinity when the Troodon hunts and kills that creature. There’s a cooldown on this. The better the creature, the more Affinity. Do it enough, and the Troodon becomes yours with the corresponding Affinity. If it works out well, we will adapt it for other carnivores too. There are key Survivors on the ARK whose notes you’ll be finding through deep exploration. Dossier Dude (not his real name) is one. Recipe Gal (not her real name) is another. The others include a Three Kingdoms Era Monk and a Roman Centurion. Their writings, across time and languages, help lead to unlocking the mystery of exactly what the ARK is. Plasma sabers. You got it Yup, it will be coming to the Xbox! Yes, the SWAT Armor is imminent! Security has been very excited about this. As we get more creatures in, we plan more day/night behavior variation per dinos. Yes, some will sleep during the day or night respectively, unless disturbed. Not on this ARK You’ll be able to do both in the next major update :)! Beer! Yup, we’ll be looking at this in Breeding Phase 2. That’s the Chemistry Table, and it’s on the way! Tek Tier is gonna have something special for this purpose, and it will have other uses too. Non-permanent, similarly to SotF. However the rate of being able to summon bosses will be server-adjustable, as well as how long they last. So if you want some crazy boss-overrun server… well, that’s up to you :-P Very likely, but we need to take the time to analyze the memory and performance cost of it on consoles first. You shall! Yes there will be. We need to go through and make sure none of them can ‘crash’ the game first (a no-no on consoles). We’re actually working on a skill-based mechanic for exactly this. That’s actually a pretty good idea. We’ll work on that. Nope, because they all come from the Broodmother! Indeed, at the Tek Tier. It will also accelerate their incubation speed. Yes, you will be. But it’ll do less damage. Yep, stack sizes goin’ up! We plan to rebalance the supply drops in the next major update. Sure, we’ll add that in the next major version. Yup, we’re working on a fix for it as we speak and hope to have it ready shortly :). It shall be done! That’s for the Allosaurus! That’s it for this week’s ARK Digest! Thanks for tuning in and hopefully you’ve walked away learning something new ;). Please take a look at our latest changes in Patch 231 and be sure to share your feedback! We’ve got a lot planned this year and can’t wait to get cracking! All the best, Wildcard Jat & The ARK Survival Evolved Team!

A Message from the Founders Hello Survivors, Jesse and Jeremy here! We know things have been a bit quiet on Genesis news for the past few weeks, even though there is much more to show you, we’ve been deeply immersed in the pre-release development process. That being said, we’re writing today to tell you that the final release date for Genesis Part 1 is now February 25th, 2020 simultaneously on all platforms. This additional delay will no doubt come as a disappointment to everyone who is eagerly awaiting Genesis. We’re extremely sorry to push it back an extra month, but as we have been heads-down with the rest of the team polishing, balancing and putting the final pieces together, we really felt that the extra wait will be worth it both for the quality of the base game and the ambitious new expansion. The live ops team is taking advantage of the scheduling change by making sure we have a really fun Valentine’s event in store for you (something we originally planned to skip because it followed so closely behind the launch of the new expansion). Plus, we’ve just deployed an initial anti-meshing patch, and next week we will be rolling out a definitive anti-meshing logic overhaul that should fundamentally address those long-standing issues. As we look forward to a successful cross-platform launch of Genesis, all of this will make ARK substantially better for everyone who plays PvP and PvE. On behalf of the broader Wildcard team, we thank you so much for your passion, creativity, feedback, and support. We are extremely thrilled to bring ARK’s next chapter to you, and are looking forward to a hugely exciting 2020! Meanwhile, here are some tasty new screenshots from ARK: Genesis Part 1! Jesse and Jeremy Studio Wildcard Anti-Meshing Efforts Hey everybody! I’m WC_jellyknee, the lead Live Ops Engineer on the ARK team. I wanted to tell you about our efforts to prevent cheating in ARK in general, and our continuing efforts to defeat undermeshing specifically. We're excited to get this post out in order to address the issue of meshing with the community and, also, to share news on how we will be countering meshing more aggressively moving forward via technical solutions. I'm going to start off by quoting from a previous developer diary: You can read the rest of the developer diary here: Undermeshing has been a thorn in the side of both players as well as the enforcement team, and a serious concern for the development team. To help mitigate this, we have further upgraded our anti-undermeshing system in order to help the enforcement team track down problematic map areas, as well as tracking down people who are breaking the ARK Code of Conduct. This underlying system has been in place for a while now, gathering useful data, and we have been testing it to make sure that it works reliably. We wanted to make sure that it minimizes the amount of false positives - we don't want it to flag locations where players can get to during normal play Now that this system has been proven to be effective, we've now built another layer on top of it to take advantage of this data. I don't want to give specific numbers here because it can only help bad actors try to find new exploits, but I'll explain how this system works: 1) If we detect a player undermeshing for a certain amount of time, it will teleport them to a valid position that they were previously at. It will then monitor that player for an amount of time. 2) If the system finds that player undermeshing again within that time, or if it's not able to teleport the player to a previous position, then the player's character will die. Any items being carried will remain at that location. 3) The system is aware of what the character is doing, and will take certain actions into account to help prevent player frustration. The system, whilst in a state we’re confident will have an impact on limiting meshing, is in a state of ongoing development. We will continually make improvements and updates, along with rolling out more definitive undermeshing-resolving changes in the next week. While we continue to introduce new content and experiences to fans of ARK we will remain focused on ensuring that everyone has a fair playing experience on the Official Network. By default, the anti meshing system will be on for the Official Network For Unofficials, these launch parameters can be used: -noundermeshchecking // Will turn it off the anti meshing system entirely -noundermeshkilling // Will turn it off the anti meshing player kills (but still allow teleporting) Twitter: twitter.com/survivetheark Facebook: facebook.com/survivetheark Reddit: reddit.com/r/playark Instagram: instagram.com/survivetheark Twitch: twitch.tv/survivetheark Steam: steamcommunity.com/app/346110 Youtube: youtube.com/survivetheark

Providing a fair, fun, and safe environment for everyone is something we take very seriously here at Wildcard. Building an enforcement team was the first step to making sure that people can enjoy ARK without fear of cheating. Since the introduction of the enforcement team, we've noticed a considerable improvement in the overall quality of life of those playing on our official servers. In severe situations, like someone meshing or duping or spreading information related to such, our first instinct is to try and take action with the intention of preserving the integrity of our official server network. When someone is banned as a result of our Code of Conduct, there is an appeal process that allows for a fair review of the situation. There are always two sides to every story and we want to remain impartial and hear both. Any issue that violates our Code of Conduct is subject to a fair appeal process. When things land in the gray area, our first instinct is to do whatever is in our power to prevent abuse. Upon further review of the situation involving H.O.D Gaming, we felt that it was not deserving of a permanent ban. Videos showing exploit techniques are admittedly a gray area when it comes to enforcement, which is just one of the reasons why the appeal process exists for bans. Several changes each patch are aimed at fixing exploits but the methods that are used are continually evolving; as such, we are always trying to improve our procedures when it comes to situations that affect the player-base. We use these situations to take a look at our internal process and identify areas where we can do better or provide more clarification. There are established methods for escalating exploits to the development team that exist to prevent the spread of information to the general public. The more widely known an exploit is, the more likely it is to be exploited. In these instances you should file your report on the SurviveTheARK website. You can find the link to report abuse or bugs under the support header. We want to make sure that everyone can enjoy their experience on our official network and will continue to take exploit matters seriously. As always, we value community feedback and encourage you to share it with us. Thanks for your continued support and passion for the game! Team Wildcard

Hello Survivors, Today we have some important news regarding the launch of ARK: Extinction on console (Xbox and PS4). After careful consideration, we have decided to move our release date for the console release of Extinction to no later than November 13th. This change does not affect the Steam release of Extinction, which will still be available for purchase on November 6th, at 10am PST. We know this news will come as a disappointment to our console survivors, but we believe that this extra time will result in an improved experience for everyone who plays Extinction on console. Thank you for all your patience and support - we know that Extinction will be worth the wait!

Patch 247 brought cuteness and beauty today to ARK: Survival Evolved with the addition of two new dinos, Tapejara and Archaeopteryx. Both are small, beautiful flying creatures, the latter resembling the modern bird more than any other dinosaur on the ARK. The Archaeopteryx is a small bird-like forest-dweller that glides between trees, harvesting their sap as well as consuming small insects. The Archaeopteryx is a small bird-like forest-dweller that glides between trees, harvesting their sap as well as consuming small insects. When Tamed, it can be used to collect sap, or held overhead for players to “glide” over long distances! The Tapejara is a mid-size pterosaur whose large head-fin gives it superior maneuverability. Not only can it ‘strafe’ while in the air, it can only cling onto walls, allowing its rider and up to two additional seated passengers to shoot their weapons! Update v247 also includes Night Vision Goggles for stealthy raids, and a bevy of performance optimizations and gameplay fixes. As well as major updates to The Center Map! The Center fantasy map expanded today to now include 13 new mini caves, new explorable area near the “Edge of the World,” more spawns, loads of fixes, re-work of the weather system, and more!

Get Ready for ARK: Fear Evolved 2, running from October 27 through Nov 6! This sequel to the ultimate Survival Holiday-Themed Event will test your skills and your courage as you hunt for the legendary DodoWyvern across Scorched Earth, collecting up new cosmetics and costumes along the way. Back on The Island, you'll get to tame Snakes, and encounter rare Vampire Bats & Rabid Dire Wolves -- being bit by these infected creatures will give you Vampirism or Lycanthropy! Though you will become a monster, you will also gain incredible powers, whether it's the superhuman sight, speed, strength, and gliding of a Vampire, or the moon-triggered body-morphing ferocity of a Werewolf! Just beware the burning daylight (and stay stocked up on blood)! In Fear Evolved 2, sometimes the most dangerous creature on the ARK... is you! Patch 248 We wanted to provide you with an update regarding the delay of the latest ARK Survival Evolved patch. Unfortunately, it’s going to take us a bit longer to get this out to you, this patch is filled with a tonne of content and new features and we’re needing to spend some more time on it -- the new v248 Release Date is October 18. A key feature of the patch our new Procedurally Generated ARK system. This will lead to endless opportunities for survivors to explore new lands and create new memories. We’re doing a lot of work to ensure that this first pass is really up to par to make sure you get a fulfilling experience and also creating a friendly user interface to make looking after your maps (multiple saves), and customizing & randomizing them much easier. Also, you’ll have the ability to share your maps very easily with others! Plus that’s not all we’ve got cooked up for this patch, there’s a tonne more to come and you can check out the rest of the upcoming notes here: So we apologize for the delay and hope you understand our reasoning for holding it back until it’s shiny, however once the patch does come out it’ll be better than ever and would have definitely been worth the wait! We’ve got a lot planned in October and for the months ahead, and can’t wait to share it all with you! Thanks for your ongoing support and feedback you provide, it is all valued and pivotal to making ARK as good as it can be! All the best, Wildcard Jat & the ARK: Survival Evolved Team.

Common Name: Tapejara Species: Tapejara Imperator Time: Cretaceous Diet: Carnivorous Temperament: Skittish Wild Tapejara Imperator is a marvel to watch in the wild. It has astonishing agility compared to the Island’s other flyers thanks in large part to the rudder-like fin that extends from its snout to the back of its skull. Initially, I’d thought the fin was simply composed of keratin, but closer inspection has led me to believe that it is actually some kind of sensory organ. Not only, does it decrease Japejara’s turning radius even at high speeds, but it apparently provides Tapejara with extra information to help it fly through the air with unparalleled grace. I've even seen Tapejara hover and strafe side-to-side in the air without moving forward at all. It’s quite remarkable. The creature also makes effective use of razor-sharp claws to catch onto surfaces such as the trunks of tall trees, holding its position indefinitely. Domesticated Warlike tribes appear to consider Tapejara the equivalent of a versatile rotor aircraft, capable of rapid positional changes and aggressive agility. When domesticated the Tapejara is typically outfitted with a unique dual-rider saddle, enabling a passenger to wield handheld weaponry while the pilot takes the reins. And when the Tapejara is latched onto a surface, both the passenger and pilot are able to make full use of their weapons together. Evidently what this skittering creature lacks in distance-stamina, constitution, and weight carrying capacity, it makes up for in maneuverability and combat versatility.

Later today the ARK will be updated to Version 235 and with it comes a plethora of new content, including our new terrifying friend, the Terror Bird! The Terror Bird also known as the Phorusrhacidae Rapidesultor, is a ferocious but tamable avian capable of high-speed sprints and brief hover-like leaps. It is not a flying bird per se, as its flight is comprised of short, sustained “Joust”-like glides or leaps. At eight to 12 feet tall, the Terror Bird is aggressive, but still tamable and ridable, making it an excellent combat mount, particularly for harassing and scouting. Riders of the Terror Bird gain most of the benefits of a fast, mobile ground-based theropod, while also gaining some of the freedom of movement from a flyer. It is known to show traits related to theropods such as the Utahraptor, Carnotaurus and the ever formidable Tyrannosaurus Rex. The Grappling Hook is a game-changing tool enabling Survivors the ability to scale cliffs, hitch a ride by attaching to a flying creature, wrangle other players/prisoners, or even small creatures to drag along! Learning how to regularly use this tool will alter the nature of your attacks and dramatically expand the range of your travels with greater ease and fun! Today’s ARK update will also include: Tribe Alliances (PvE and PvP). Yes, finally, small Tribes can band together against larger ones! Fishing Upgrade! Coelacanth Nutritia, common name Coel, are now different sizes (and give different amount of resources depending on the fish size...gives the rare chance of a super-large catch!) Fully Localizable Game Text: Now you can crowd-source translation and dynamic fonts for any language without Modding/TC's! All current Items added to the Master Items ID array Now new players can start the epic survival-adventure ARK: Survival Evolved during the Lunar sale on Steam for only $19.99 (33% off standard price)
