  1. I don't think that's really an minority opinion. Most people simply don't bother talking about the art, doesn't necessarily mean they dislike it

  2. I know I'm in the minority, but I absolutely love these crunches for the fan art. They really capture the best parts of what ark means to so many people

  3. Will we be getting one last TLC for creatures this year? I would really like to see some renewed models of some of the older models and I think it would really help them stand out of the crowd of newer creatures. Awesome Charcharo model as welll!

  4. Welcome to another edition of the Community Crunch! We had a blast at PAX West this year and cherished the opportunity to meet current and future ARK fans 😉. If you were in town, you probably had a chance to check out the life-sized HLN-A and acquire some of the heavily sought-after ARK swag. We've put together a recap of the community live stream and any moments you may have missed during PAX West. In addition to the photo opp with HLN-A, eager ARK survivors were able to get their hands on the upcoming Ultimate Survivor Edition on Nintendo Switch. The upcoming launch on October 25th will include The island and Scorched Earth at launch, and add the remaining ARK and community content in intervals. The completely rehauled version will include enhancements and upgrades to bring it into line, visually and functionally, with the experience on Xbox One and PS4! Find out more about ARK on Switch here! We went live on Friday to share exciting news with the community and tease upcoming content coming to all platforms. new story cutscenes to conclude each ARK map, featuring actors Maddy Madden (The Wheel of Time) and David Tennant (Doctor Who). All of Helena’s and Rockwell’s Dossiers and Explorer Notes will also be voiced by the actors. Jesse, Jeremy, and Gareth Coker sat down for a lengthy interview about audio design and how it can define game moments. Check out the full interview if you don't want any ARK2 spoilers 😉 See the full VOD here! During the stream we revealed the upcoming Carcharodontosaurus dossier and promotional art. It might be a good idea to get to know this fearless predator before it enters into a list of ARK's toughest carnivores. Read the full dossier here! Modding is a large part of ARK and ARK 2 will still be deeply rooted in its mod community. Upgrading to Unreal Engine 5 and partnering with mod.io has allowed us to introduce full mod support for console players! Joshua Hines, our mod community manager, took some time to speak with mod.io and talk about what these upgrades may mean for ARK 2 and the modding ecosystem at large. Read the full interview here! If you are looking to change up the game why not check out some new mods. The ARK Sponsored mod program is currently accepting applications until October 6th. You can find the rates below: *Note that these bonuses are multiplicative of the game's standard 1x rates. Official Servers: 3x XP, Harvesting, Taming, Breeding (imprint, maturation, hatch/gestation), 0.5x Mating Interval, and 3x Hexagon Rewards Small Tribe Servers: 5.5x XP, Harvesting, Taming, 5x Breeding (maturation, hatch/gestation), 4x Imprinting, 0.5x Mating Interval, and 4x Hexagon Rewards ARKpocalypse: 6x XP, Harvesting, Taming, Breeding (maturation, hatch/gestation), 4x Imprinting, 0.5x Mating Interval, and 4x Hexagon Rewards Conquest: 6x XP, Harvesting, Taming, Breeding (maturation, hatch/gestation), 4x Imprinting, 0.5x Mating Interval, and 4x Hexagon Rewards For the duration of this EVO Event, we will be disabling the world buffs from Baby Boon & Maewing Poach on Genesis Part 2 on the Official Network. In the past, we've adjusted for the impact events have had on the rates by tweaking the bonuses that we use during breeding events, however, those tweaks lead to unfavorable circumstances on maps that aren't Genesis Part 2, so during breeding events, we'll be disabling these mission buffs specifically as not to affect the bonuses on other maps. 5. The hype for Paleo ARK is real (and I really need to pick up The Sunken World again, it's been a while), a mod worthy of the name as it is, and full of potential for the future. It's very exciting to see happen. The fan art is great and I almost always have my "favorite of the week". It's when there's nothing else to see that I have a problem and it feels like cheap filler. Obviously not an issue this week, though

  6. That's the first thing I look at whenever a Crunch comes out. I scroll straight down to the art. I love seeing what my fellow Ark players create.

  7. They said there will be an EVO, just wait for the time they stated it will happen.

  8. I would love if the same Dino can sport many variations or even sub-types with differing abilities. Like Feathered, Non-feathered. Ex: Rex, Raptors, Pterosaurs Sub-types (just an example): Allosaurus maximus (Saurophagax) being huge 13m long, but rare, has bleed but no pack bonus. In-fact, solitary or mate boost at max. More hp,dmg. Still Weaker than Giga/Rex. Weaker bleed effect than Giga Allosaurus fragillis (Allosaurus of North America) being medium 9m long, common, has bleed for only Alpha, works in pack. Less hp/dmg. Weaker bleed effect that Giga. Allosaurus europeus : Smallest Allosaur variant, rather fast with good stamina, weakest bleed & hp. Due to smaller size, can venture to caves easily & too big to be aggroed by Cave critters.

  9. I actually prefer more variety in Dinos in line with say more variety in cars & vehicles in the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series of games. The World looks more fleshed-out, more populated & more natural with lots of creature types. I can always play a Dino game like "The Isle" or "Path of Titans" if I want to have an ecosystem with less dino types and greater emphasis on each Dino. But from the perspective of atleast PvE, Creative & Singleplayer, and those are into Role Playing like me, I feel more Dino types & with a Tiered approach gives the game a lot more depth, a lot more things to do, a steady progression system. I would love to design a Zoo or a theme park or a "taxidermy" museum of sorts with so much diversity in Dino types. Regarding obsolescence, that would always be there and is part of progress. Again referring to the GTA example, in GTA Vice City, the MP5 makes all other SMGs obsolete & the Minigun practically makes the entire weapon roster obsolete. but we still like to use other guns because having just 1 or 2 gun would give a monotonous experience. Similarly, once we get the fastest & best handling racing car "Cheetah" (Ferrari Testarossa lookalike), we wouldn't really use any non-racing car like a "Sentinel", "Blista" etc for a race. But one may love to use an Infernus (fastest car, but very low durability) or a Phoenix (Pontiac Firebird) for role play or personal preference. In ARK 1, typically best Boss Army Dino on average is the Therizino or Rex. But people do use other Dinos for Army too like Allos or even Carnos. Again, More Diversity = More Freedom to choose & roleplay. Gives the game more longevity too.

  10. (Official, Valguero) Imprinted adrewsarchus. Topped up trough and filled a maewing, hatched rexes (mut one ended up twins, podded second as a spare in case anything happens) and put them with the maewing. For now that's all, will play more and refresh sidebases later. ... (Official, Fjordur) Fed dinos, grabbed a few drops (nothing good). (Official, Extinction) Fed dinos, uploaded some stuff, including all cryopods, wandered around. Found no drops, but killed two corrupted reaper kings. (Official, Crystal Isles) Fed trike. (Official, Valgeuro) Imprinted andrewsarchus. Retrieved uploaded stuff, put most of it into the appropriate vaults, filled gachas, noticed my favorite tree was gone, made re-fertilizer, restored it, then decided to restore some other stuff the exact locations of which I didn't rememeber... Yeah, minus cryopods, minus some dust-containing gacha crystals, minus armor, whip and gun, minus sino. Wish re-fertilizer only worked if you don't stand exactly where the stuff that's respawn is. Or at least you ended up on top of respawned thing instead of inside of it. Made new armor, unpodded a spare sino, bred sinos (but nothing good). Gathered fresh gacha crystals, topped up gens. Repaired SCUBAs, went to the Abyss. Got pretty okay loot, not the best but okay. Returned home, topped up tek troughs, if I'm not asleep in five hours will log back on to imprint andrewsarchus again. ... Logged back on, imprinted andrewsarchus (his name is Fenris, by the way), gave him saddle and some ammo, went to kill stuff with him. Checked out underwater ruins in the swamp again, turns out it's possible to enter them! But I couldn't go in too far on my andrew and I was only able to exit with him because I happened to have a cryopod on me, he fit through the doorframe on the way in but not on the way out. I'll maybe take another look at them at some point, with SCUBA. Returned home and that's all for today.

  11. Huh. Yeah it sorta does now that you point it out. It's just a slightly more spikey giga design wise, honestly wouldn't have been surprised to see it implemented as a skin like the brachy skin for the brontosaurus. I think this is one of those instances where they'd have been better off contacting the fanmade design's creator for the right to use it rather than making a new one. Not to discredit the designer who made the art but it kinda just makes me think of what happens when you let a kid design a dinosaur as it is now.

  12. You know looking at it twice, it looks more like a Giga COSTUME than it does a creature. Bad enough this thing was a giga re-make (and an unneeded one) now it's a look alike too.

  13. Charcarodontosaurus will make a triumphant entry to ARK with a noteworthy set of abilities that puts it in competition with ARK's most feared carnivores! With a notable taste for blood, Charcarodontosaurus will become more frenzied as it gets its fill. Common Name: Carcharodontosaurus Species: Carcharodontosaurus medicupestis Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive I feel lucky to have crossed paths with Carcharodontosaurus medicupestis and lived to tell the tale. Though I’m not sure if this predator grows bigger than a Giganotosaurus, I hope never to find out. Just one of these bruisers held its own against an army of us, and that encounter cost us dearly. Carcharodontosaurus can sweep aside attackers with its tail, but it’s the other end you’ll really want to avoid. It has teeth like steak knives, set in jaws strong enough to shred most prey. Even a near-miss will carve you up, but good. Like its namesake the great white shark, Carcharodontosaurus gets more dangerous once it tastes blood. Each kill seems to give these monsters a rush and drive it into a berserker frenzy. Anyone that manages to tame a Carcharodontosaurus will gain a new way to rally their tribe for battle. There’s something about this monster’s roar that drives others to fight — a war cry for Hell’s own army. The more tactical tribes will let their Carcharodontosaurus tear through the mid-sized creatures in their enemy’s ranks, thereby building up its bloodrage to take on the largest threats. Talk about shock and awe! Carcharodontosaurus will make its way onto the ARKs later this year!
