Welcome to another edition of the Community Crunch! As we all catch our breath from the Fjordur launch and all the ARK news this week, we can't help to be appreciative and humbled by the ARK community helping us reach a new record-breaking CCU high! We're blown away by the support and passion of the community! This past week has been full of ARK news, from ARK 2 to the ARK: The Animated TV Series, there has been a plethora of content and information to share with the hungry ARK community. Amongst upcoming ARK content, Fjordur was released on June 12th and is available on all platforms. The Grove Street Games team is targeting a September release and a presentation at PAX West. Due to a configuration error to Fjordur SmallTribes servers at launch, some tribes were able to exceed the maximum number of players that are allowed in a tribe. The configuration error has since been fixed. The enforcement team will begin taking action on tribes that exceed the maximum number of players on Tuesday. Please plan accordingly! I'm curious what the creators intent for the hawk is regarding starter, middle or high player level tame? Because given the utility of the hawk I'd say it should be a starting pet, since that's when it'll suck if you die as it'll most likely be hard to get back to your body. But once you're at middle or high level then you'll have multiple flyers and other high level dinos so getting back your stuff is cake. And also by then you'll be using an otter for insulation since you'll either have flak/riot or tek armour which sucks at the warm and cold places. Since right now it's definitely not a starter tame, or even middle tame if you want a high level one. And you'd pretty much need two players since it's pretty scarce with big wild dinos in the areas. 3 brontos barely did anything for a level 150 hawk, and since the hawk will drop it's taming if they get hit by a wild dinos attack. Which is a big chance it will when trying to kill a bronto then yeah. Annoying tame. The player the hawk follows just have to stay put and another player brings in barely alive dinos. And then there's the fun of other hawks that you're not trying to tame that lands faster and eats first....1 point

Can confirm, while mounted, fjordhawk will not gain taming %. Also can confirm will not land to eat your own tames that you kill. Unless, like JetJaguar said, you drag another dead wild ontop of your dead tame.1 point

So what seems to work, as dumb as it is: Kill your high level tamed sheep. Lure a smaller dino over (dodo for example) Kill it and drag body over top the sheep. Hawk will eat both the dino kill and sheep and tame...1 point

What I have to do for the FTP side of it, i basically delete my ASV folder, and redownload. I dont close the program, because if i do, I get that error of cannot login. After I redownload and start over, i can use the FTP and it syncronizes.1 point

I can't think of any other survival games off the top of my head that have taming and riding dinosaurs as the main feature, or any other games that take place in the same universe as Ark. Or any other games that take place after Ark 1. Therefor: Ark 2. What would be the point in making a new game if they didn't mix anything up? If you don't want to deal with anything being different from Ark 1, you should probably stick with Ark 1. Hmm, maybe because their reworking the melee combat system, there's going to be more of an emphasis on melee combat? Just a thought. And also, there's probably not going to be any firearms, it being primitive and all that. If you played Genesis 2, the ship went kablooie.1 point

Yeah I really like first person in ark man it adds more to the game especially in the early portions of the game when your running thru the woods at night and you just start hearing stomping behind you1 point

Only game similar to ARK but in 3rd person only I like is Valheim. Almost always 1st person perspective is more immersive and better in survival games. That's why I hope devs will rethink their decision and add FPP so if TPP is bad there will be always option to switch to first person mode.1 point

I'm more worried about building and actually using things indoors. Always wonky with the camera indoors on third person games. And this is a bigger part of the game for a lot of players than player combat. I do hope they don't make the game slower than ark is today in regards to opening storage and such. Comparing to Conan Exiles for example, always a slog going back to that game after having played ark. Will see how it is in the first gameplay videos, but history of third person games don't leave me with a lot of hope.1 point
