  1. Absolutel trash. It dosent surprise me the Ark community would vote for the dumbest dino on the list.

  2. Final voting for the second creature to be added to Lost Island has concluded. A few weeks ago, we created a forum where you could submit your ideas for creatures that will be added to Lost Island. From there, we narrowed it down to the top 10 up-voted submissions. Over 15,000 votes were submitted for the next Lost Island creature and only 1% difference separating the Dinopithecus and the Carcharodontosaurus! Talk about a close finish With one unannounced creature coming to Lost Island, what do you think it could be? Download in full resolution Download in full resolution I believe Dinopithecus has been changed by ARK life. This species is definitely larger than any I remember from the fossil record. And these oversized baboons show a more pack-oriented behavior than I would've expected in their kind. Whole troops will organize around an alpha, and fall apart if that alpha is slain. Though they seem to prefer a diet of fruit supplemented with the occasional bit of meat, Dinopitheci are opportunistic and will eat just about anything. They’re also excellent climbers -- I’ve seen them scramble up sheer cliff faces and leap between trees to scavenge food for their troop. Dinopitheci will bare sharp teeth and toss well-aimed handfuls of their own excrement when provoked. Their feces is what really sets this species apart -- they’ve managed to weaponize a parasite in it that disables TEK! I feel like that parasite deserves its own dossier. If you can manage to tame enough Dinopitheci , you’ll soon find yourself with a small troop at your disposal. Your mini-troop will organize around the strongest of your tames, their new alpha that can then direct them at a target with a shrieked battle-cry. No need to saddle your tamed Dinopithecus to ride it -- it will make one for you using its own tail. Just hold on tight, and it will take you straight up walls and across ziplines. In battle, your Dinopithecus will fling fecal projectiles, grenades, or a combination that I like to call EBM, for Explosive Bowel Movement. Amargasaurus is also making its grand appearance on Lost Island! For more information on Amargasaurus, be sure to check out the dossier in an earlier Community Crunch! 3. Again, let's be honest. most people only voted for the baboon because they are immature users who think monkey memes are funny (and they aren't). While a smaller percentage of them voted for it because of Name Recognition from the OP (which is unfair since they are a famous ARK YouTuber). That said however, what WC is bringing to the table is sort of cool. Sure it panders to the poisonous PvP crowd, and it's yet another tool to bully players for petty reasons, and it will likely be outclassed by Mr. High Level Yuty and his band of bigger monkeys (or something better at fighting). BUUUUUUT, the new map is A JUNGLE so it kinda makes sense to add some exotic fauna to The Lost Island (I mean Monkeys and Jungles do go hand in hand.) Let's also not forget that we still have Amargasaurus AND a mystery animal... so if you don't like the monkey no one is forcing you to tame one (and you probably will anyway because ARK) Is it Stupid? YES! oh god YES, it's amazingly stupid and I'll never say otherwise. But this is a game with unicorns, Gryphons, Wyverns, A giga that's only bigger than T-rex to make the giga fans shut up (it was actually smaller, dumber, and weaker than T-rex), Glow-In-The-Dark dinosaurs, Alien knock-offs the size of a house, Tameable Spiders (two kinds even), A Manticore and a Dragon as bosses, Liopluradons that are about as magical as can of soup and only exist because of a meme that's been dead LONG before this game even launched, A Dodo wyvern/rex hybrid which leads an army of zombie creatures, and all sorts of strange amalgamations curtesy of an English man with a god complex. I think AN EXTINCT MONKEY is pretty normal in comparison.

  4. @maxplanck58 @Ganelon @Kazaanh Honestly I am not seeing much of a debate, granted it has not been that long since the official post confirming the results. It is pretty average remarks, nothing unusual or new to this community. We KNEW this would be the natural next step. It baffles me however, that people would get that furious with a game that offers so much customization. I am on the side that lost the argument, yet it is all good... I can fix this for myself. I pitched to the community a vote as to how I will treat this on my private server, it will either be modded to keep only dinos or have the foundation for a Dino vs mammals all out war to save the lost world (lost island) from the evil mammals (how I would like to portrait them in this map specifically). Either way, its a story to tell. We all had toys which we treated as the villain and dinopithecus could be that toy for me, heck I might even build a prison complex for them (maybe with some Humans vs ogres vibe). We just need to let the imagination free and voila! Problem solved! We determine our fun, our issues, our limits, and honestly, if a community vote derails folks from this and makes them angry... Then I dare say people are not leveraging the powerful tools Wildcard has given us to tell our own stories in our own way. There is no harm in this result, it's an opportunity that provokes us, in a good way, to the next steps. I played my cards and lost the round, now I can use my "wildcard" and turn this around. I am sure by now Wildcard knows Carcharodontosaurus also stands as one of the favorites, perhaps not only this creature but other top 10 can be leveraged as well down the line... no reason to fret at all, lets keep the ball going and have fun. Cheers!

  5. Here's an example of use on Linux. If you run it manually you don't need the full path of the .dll or mono. Thx for this btw @MirageUK While the regular one worked in scripts it's nice to have one that doesn't show an error at the end On Debian I installed mono-devel / mono-complete to get it to work, might test a bit more later to see if I can install a smaller set of packages. /usr/bin/mono /home/steam/scripts/ASV/ASVExport.dll all /home/steam/arktemp/scorchedearth/SavedArks/ScorchedEarth_P.ark /home/steam/data/scorchedearth/

New ASVExport.exe Command line export. Compiled against .net core 3.0 with same export options as ArkViewer.exe. Confirmed to work in Linux @StevenB - NOTE: I don't use or have any experience but it seems you run ASVExport.dll on linux instead of ASVExport.exe As a reminder of the command line use: ASVExport.exe [option] [arksave] [output] Examples. ASVExport.exe wild "C:\Saves\TheIsland.ark" "C:\Exports\TheIsland_Wilds.json" ASVExport.exe all "C:\Saves\TheIsland.ark" "C:\Exports\" Options: structures Player placed structure locations. logs Tribe log file entries tribes Tribe summary information. players Player location, stats, inventory. wild Wild creature location, stats tamed Player tamed creature location, stats, inventory all All of the above. 7. everyone who voted for the monke how do you feel realizing WILDCARD CHOOSES ITS ABILITIES YOUR VOTING FOR A DINOSAUR NOT A DINOS FEATURES. even if it was given a gun it would get nerfed to the point that it cant reload and instead craps in the gun. hope you like the bigger and slightly less ugly meso. thisis why we should have voted carchar, what ever we got we wouldnt be angry by ideas that we thought were garenteed but dont make it even though wildcard said they choose its abilities.

  8. Im very curious.! Wildcard wrote "Arriving with the map will be 3 brand new real-world creatures, including the Amargasaurus and one chosen explicitly by the ARK community!" Now we know that Amargasaurus and Dinopithecus will be the first two. But what will be the 3th new animal.? Will it be the carcharodontosaurus that was 1% from winning over the dinopithecus, or do Wildcard have yet another surprice for us.?

  9. I am afraid to think what was going on inside heads of people who voted for stupid monkey. Go and google baoons and take look at their ass pictures. This is exactly what are you going to see during 3rd person riding. Enjoy!

  10. Look the Dinopethicus may be a little bit disappointing but look on the bright side we still get two new other creatures such Amargasaurus and a mystery Dino. So we still got things to be excited about

  11. Did people truly believe Wildcard would just include everything in the fan made dossier? You voted for a creature, not its abilities and use. Hope you're happy about getting a pretty useless creature voted into ARK disables TEK = zero use for PvE and I bet majority voting were PvE players too

  12. I don't know that they ever would but it would be pretty cool if lost island (or a future map) was an ark with some sort of force field or aura that would block tek all together. All tek structures, weapons, and armor simply would not work /be able to be crafted by default on this map. Maybe even as far as the super convenient cryopods! Any dinos that are more based around tek or element could be banned or limited much like aberration did with flyers and certain other creatures. Don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or if a Dev would even read this but it sounded fun to me

  13. The whole "gun wielding" ability was just a fan concept, and wildcard weren't considering those when making the winning dino. That's why I voted Carcharodontosaurus instead of Dinopithecus, because Dinopithecus heavily relied on its concept abilities to win the vote, while carcharo had many different ideas, meaning everyone had their own ideas for the creature and wouldn't have to rely on wildcard picking their ideas.

  14. Well strictly speaking Gigantopithici are Apes, not Monkeys. So my point still stands.

  15. While it sucks we won't get Carcha, the small victory here is that I can tame some baboons and get mutations for brown with gold stripes to look like Rajang from Monster Hunter lol

  16. It must be a Rex's Size Carnivore , Please Bring Carcharodontosaurus, Mapusaurus or Acrocantosaurus, We need a new big Carnivore in The game , The last one was a medium sized Yutyranos Years ago.

  17. Gigantopithicus is just a guy in a fur suit. It also lacks the mobility of the Dinopithicus and can't throw projectile weapons.

  18. It would be great fan service to add Carcharo as the third and final lost island creature, especially coming in as a photo finish 2nd place. Seeing how creative they were with the Amarga and monkey abilities, I think there’d be little worry about it potentially being a generic Rex alt. I really hope Carchar ends up as our 3rd creature. Also not going to be sore about it, congrats team monkey on your narrow victory

  19. And this is why you don't vote for a creature because of its concept, non-official abilities. Good job everyone! Coulda had carcharo or livyatan, but we got a Thyla with extra abilities. Edit: My opinion on the creature has changed quite a bit since it was first announced. This is because of 2 reasons. One, I think this creature could be great if done right. Two, there is a near guaranteed chance carcharo will be added, whether it be in ARK 2, a future update, or even the 3rd lost island creature. I'm not mad anymore about Dinopithecus winning, and congrats to UpFromTheDepths for winning!
