Winter Wonderland 5 Winter Wonderland will be making a triumphant return for the fifth time with new presents and goodies for ARK survivors. The winter-themed holiday event begins on December 17th at 10am PST for PC, XBOX, and PS4 and will last until Thursday, January 7th. All maps will receive Winter Wonderland and all its content including RaptorClaus and GachaClaus. Our very recognizable helper, RaptorClaus, is returning to drop off holiday gifts filled with loot, event items, mistletoe, and lumps of coal for all those naughty survivors. If the light pet chibis don't glow I will be very disappointed. Why not 2x taming, with all the pretty colors coming? Will the chibis still be craftable, since getting presents becomes Death Race Ark and people will steal chibis out of Raptor Claus presents right out from under someone? If someone lands on a present and then someone else arrives, the person with the less lag will steal everything even if someone else was there first. It was happening a lot last year, and it will be even worse this year.3 points

Xbox SP, The Island Things are slow, but moving forward. My cautious approach to taming yutys has paid off and is actually hella fun. I’ve got a disposable argy on a quetz platform saddle which is also nice because I can keep my taming food from spoiling. As I don’t has a pair yet, I can’t make kibble but I got myself a low level yuty to start. The hunt continues2 points

Every year PVE and unofficial servers turn into pretty toxic places to hang out with players arguing constantly over 'stealing' of raptorclaus drops during the Xmas event. This year, of all years, this is a plea to the WC devs to make the dropped gifts lootable by all who get there in time.2 points

(Official, Extinction) Refreshed the base, fed the dinos. (Official, Crystal Isles) refreshed the base, checked if wyverns still have enough crystals (they do). (Official, Valguero) Got tired of having most of the base not illuminated, so I added a new wind turbine and put some lights on the cliff I use as the wyvern perch, two by the stable, 5 or 6 on the cliffs that serve as the base's natural wall, and two in my house's second balcony because why not. The central part is still pretty dark, but there's nothing important in the center save for an improvised auto-harvester consisting2 points

I don't, I'd actually prefer full outfits including gloves and boots too. However, I rarely wear any of the skins I make because once you lose it it's gone. Which is a really poor mechanic.2 points

An easier way would be to bring back the event from 2017, where you get the oil buff that increases drop quality. Just rename the buff and have Raptor Claus fly through the sky as a visual effect and it's perfect.2 points

Squeee! I am so excited!! This is my first Ark Christmas!! My gen server is hella small so super excited that there won't be huge fights over presents. Also... For those saying no 2x taming... I'm fairly certain that's a misprint. Every event has always been 2x all pretty much. I don't see this one being any different... But even so... I am totally stoked for light pet chibis !!! And dark violet dinos?! Hell yes!! Cannot wait for this event!!! Thanks Ark Team!2 points

Title based off a thread created by a Boundless developer. (my imagination is lacking a better title for my current batch of thoughts) What turns me off most of all: Loss I dont want to lose my tames. I dont want to lose my items. I dont want to lose my time. I dont want to lose my progress. I dont want to lose my character. I dont want to lose my server. I dont want to lose my structures. I dont want to lose my virtual home. RIP Blackstorm. I tried to keep it alive, but lack of support from Wildcard on legacy servers was too much for me when I was repeadedly verbally ha1 point

I'd use S+ or Super Structures then, you can change the crafting speed of all of the different structures, each one has it's own setting so you can customise it to what suits your needs without making it feel too much like cheating, so basically set preserving bins to something like 4x which would make 1 jerky every 9 mins, maybe double or triple the speed of refining forges and increase the speed of compost bins as well unless you prefer to use beetles, most of the other structures can be left at default settings without making the game too slow. You can also use put your egg layers on a1 point

There's nothing to fix, it's working as intended. You might not like it, you might not agree with it, but it's working the way it's supposed to. The game is built around tribes and ownership, if the leader of his old tribe set up the tribe permissions so that individual players own their own tames then you and your friend should simply talk to the old tribe and ask them to Unclaim the dino's that belonged to your friend. If they allowed individual ownership of animals then they will most likely do this for you. But most tribes are set up for tribe ownership, which means that when peo1 point

I feel bad for the orks. Look at those humans in the body paint working together protecting each other. Obviously they are a bunch of role playing pve players from ark. Whatever will the orks do when is griefing pvpers show up? They would come across a group of us shooting each other for laughs. Grapple hooking our friends dragging each other. Tribe mates knocking each other out just so the toss their buddy in the water and watch him drown. And all the while the orks don’t realize their village is being destroyed by rockets being shot from under the mesh.1 point

What are you talking about? Taming is twice as fast as last year normally now due to the permanent rate increase so if that would have been good for last year, you'll be good for this year. Always more, "I want more." It's never enough. Just do what they give or go to an unofficial now since Ark 1 servers will start to be repurposed after Ark 2 gets released anyway and it will give you small tribes the rates you apparently need.1 point

So I don't see the fact that the server turns off as any kind of issue. In fact for me it would be the reverse, I would hate the obligation to collect enough food for example, for my Rex babies to survive the night. That's when it starts to feel like a job to me. Being able to turn it on and off at whim is a critical part of maximizing the fun. That's actually one of the main reasons I stop playing wow, raiding became an obligation. That said, in the event that you do need to leave the server running for some reason, for example aging your babies while having dinner or whatever, doing so1 point

My lvl 224 Raptor which had 30 points into melee pre-tame and ended up with 36 after wouldn't have ended in an Alpha Rex' stomach if higher stats mean more points into them after taming...1 point

It would be nice to know some details of what happened in the cave in the Ark 2 trailer. Santiago ... we knew so far that he is a hacker, tek stuff engineer, legendary mek pilot. Why does Santiago look like a Mayan warrior here? Who is "Lights out, old friend" talking to? I guess the words go to other himself, old ARK 1 Santiago. New Santiago removes old one. It foreshadows the new times and say goodbye to the old ones. I suspect that this will happen not only with Santiago, but also with Helena Walker, Edmund Rockwell and others. What are the devices that Santiago operates in cave?1 point

Celebrated my daughter's birthday this weekend and I picked up some extra shifts at work so I didn't get to play hardly at all... other than putting food in the trough. Typing this from my desk in the middle of another 10.5 hour shift. But I am enjoying your stories when work gets slow, so keep them coming. lol. It might be a couple more days before I can get back to playing, so I thought I would use this time to reflect on goals and objectives. I am at the point where the game is really fun for me. The base is built, the character is at level 89, and I have many good tames. All the l1 point

The real thing that makes me not liking much the Christmas hunting thing are people stealing your gifts.... when I started, we were in an isolated server, so little people playing and all friends, so we decided to pick one gift at a time to let others have a chance. But once we moved to Official, things got ugly. Some guys used the tek grenate to move my flyer away from me, making me being killed by allos... it's a nice idea to have the gifts falling from the sky, but it is not so much fair, because I saw people just sitting where the presents fall...1 point

(Official, Valguero) Gasbags and ankylo are adults now. Unfortunately, not fully imprinted, but close enough. Started raising one of the twin gigas, so far goes fine, he can already hold a full stack of meat. He's temporarily named "first", just to distinguish him from his brother. If he survives to the point where no random disconnect or crash could lead to his starvation, he'll be renamed to Phobos. Killer Sausage is growing fine, last time I checked on him he was 9% grown, with enough meat in his inventory to last him to 10%, plenty of meat in the basilo trough, too. I already used the1 point

What I would like to see in ARK 2: 1. More inteligent dinos (running away when hurt it's not enough, I would like for example see pack of raptors coopereting as a pack when hunting or pack of trikes protecting their children) 2. More type of resources too collect (especially more basic resources in different part of the maps - so more traveling to collect them) 3. Weaker flyers - flyers are still op, some are too fast, other have too big weight limit. Also flyers should be late game animals. In ARK there is no reason to travel by foot when you have good flyers. 4. Less op t1 point

i dont understand why there are still RMT (real money trading) in official server as developers, it shouldnt be hard for them to program a system that search for key words in a server and make records of the chat (like "$", or external website links). similarly, systems can be made to search keywords in google, discord, and even Chinese websites to find RMTs. once found, they just need to try trading with them in game. If developers control official servers, they should be able to mask their own steam ID (use a new account every time and then give themselves a copy of ark), and to rec1 point
