  1. No idea on 1 For 2, I'd say at least a year after Genesis Part 2 is released, probably longer, but less than 3 years for sure. That is assuming that they are, in fact, working on Ark 2 after Genesis. And 3, I'd expect basically what Fyre does. It would be after the events of Genesis, and I expect he's right and that we'll end up where Element came from eventually. Unrelated to the question, but I just want to bring this up... Is anyone else getting the feeling that we don't stop Rockwell completely by the end of Genesis

  3. Imagine an ARK where tails don't go flying through walls. Perhaps an Ark where things don't spawn in the walls of caves. Or a world where cave entrances don't look like a void. Honestly, I'd love to see Ark recreated on a new engine with everything they've learned.

  4. Crystal Isles- Server Not much happened in the server that was exciting yesterday. Besides a friend gifting me a cryofridge and the same server mate leaving a vault unlocked of crappy blueprints (for him - great for me) I didnt so much but build. Worked on my new breeding pen, I'm pretty happy with it. Also decided to redo my base. Spent the time to properly plumb and wire both bases. That was a huge source of grief for me..knowing I didn't properly wire my first base. Now it's done and even expanded upon it and made a proper crafting area worth my later base. Other than that, nothing. Productive day none the less! D1nk out

  5. Very busy weekend. We started off as you might expect, with a base move via cargo train. I actually only lost one dino, the stego, to a fast moving spino. It was dead before I could even turn around on my own. Honestly I had more or less expected that so I hadn't put anything important on it. Sad but we just kept moving. Sorry stego. The doed also balled up so I left it behind, not expecting much there either. (I eventually retrieved it later.) Aside from that we successfully completed our move, but I quickly recognized a problem. While spawns had been cut significantly by the foundations, they hadn't completely blocked large spawns so I was still getting a lot of piranhas and one spino spawn. That is not something you want in your base after the novelty of taming one there wears off. I did get one advantage though, a midlevel doed had spawned and was walking around inside my walls. I tamed it to replace the first one. I also ended up taming another ravager while I was at it. Better stats but nothing really standout. But that's also not something you want in your base on the regular. So I actually ended up tearing down most of what I had done previously and reconfiguring the whole thing into the setup you see here. I don't hate it, but it definitely ranks as one of my least inspired builds. Honestly, I just don't care that much this time around. I was watching Syntac's ultimate run on Ab as I went and he hit the same wall too; I think it's just a natural fatigue point from grinding the story straight through. The Island was very long and grindy with a few bottleneck points and two very difficult bosses. Scorched Earth is a hard start but dead easy as soon as you get a good bird. Aberration is hard all the way through. Sharp eyed observers with notice something a little crazy on one of those gates though. That is indeed a rock drake. How did I manage to get one so quickly? Well, the spino I tamed was female to go with my male. Since I don't have to worry about leveling up, I was able to grind out a super basic breeding setup and hatch a couple of eggs while I was building. One got all the bad stats, but the second one got all of the high rolls. That is the spino in the picture actually. I raised it, got lucky with imprints, and leveled it up easily with a couple sweeps down the river. Spinos give amazing exp, and so do fish when you can attack once and kill like 30 of them at a time lol. While I was out and about I collected materials, yes it is very hard on spinos but we managed, along with a couple runs with ravagers. I did get arked and almost lost Runt at one point, but I got her back. Got a gas collector up and running, got an anky, made a set of cryos and 3 sets of hazard gear. Always 3 for your first run down, I barely managed with 2. Loaded up with everything I felt I needed and we set off down into the blue. So this part i hate, I get lost every single time trying to find the right path. That's just me though, I'm so bad at navigating, especially when you throw altitude into the mix. With a little help from YT we got it though. Thus began our long run down into the red zone. So, this is the main reason why I prefer spinos for egg raids. Because they are an apex predator, almost nothing aggros on them. I only had to deal with other spinos, rock drakes (obviously), and stupid seekers. Everything else we either ran over or into without issue. It's a long run but I did build my spino with this in mind so he has high stamina, decent hp and a lot of melee. We eventually made it to the rock drake trench, cleared it out and went for basically the closest, easiest nest I could get to. I suck with climbing picks so I kind of had to. Grabbed a single level 135 egg and we immediately left. The spino couldn't have easily carried more than one anyway those eggs are heavy. A long run back up, and I got lost getting out of the blue zone again. Literally every time. The very last thing I did on Saturday was raise that egg and went to bed happy knowing I had a rock drake waiting for me. Sunday did not start out nearly as auspiciously as you might expect. In fact, while I was in game I actually was not active for a good part of the day while I was doing other things. Just the occasional water run while the passive exp stacked up. Eventually I settled in around midafternoon to actually play. Took the drake out and about to get reacquainted with one of my all time favorite Ark tames. Now, this one isn't great. It's actually fairly well rounded--except for having low HP. By low I mean terrible. So this drake is essentially what I would consider a tame helper mount. I gave it a good amount of stamina and hp and no melee and we're just going to glide around getting whatever I need. We will of course go down into the trench for more eggs later, just not yet. I have cryos so it's not the worst thing, I can pop the spino out to do the work for me. I will say, Aberration was a lot harder before cryos were a thing. It really trivializes the emphasis on ground travel on this map, especially once you get a drake. In the meantime I had scouted a 150 megalo very close to my base actually, so I built a little pen and used my new drake to successfully tame my first one in a very, very long time. The stats aren't useful for a boss but it stood up with 43 stamina, definitely worth it if I ever want to run around on one which I probably will once I get more. I also went and got myself a pair of high level shinehorns because I really don't like bulbdogs. I really want some featherlights but that's a thing for later, maybe even after I finish the story grind later. But anyway I bred them and got triplets, amazing luck. Raised them all up, fully imprinted, and I will be using those from now on. Good thing I have multiple since I will more than likely lose them at some point lol. That's why I got a pair to breed. And that's honestly about it. I've been starting to stockpile resources but I still have a long way to go before I start digging into the parts of Aberration I'm not familiar with. This week's goal is definitely to establish my megalo line and hopefully by the end of the week I can get back down to the trench to find some better eggs. Even with a rock drake that's kind of a chore, which is why I didn't want to do it right away even though it's dangerous to only have one drake. I need at least 3 to be comfortable, and I know I need a good one (preferably with a backup) for Rockwell, so that's 5 in total.

  6. .....this is exactly where it starts to unravel. The whole point of me being on the yuty was the group buff gained from the yuty roar, but here's the thing, I didn't know what button to press to generate the roar. I basically was running around the arena on a fluffy green mount effectively doing nothing but random button pushing. Because of my failure to practise with the yuty and not watching my health I was killed by a fire ball. I fly back to the blue obelisk as quickly as possible, when I arrive my army respawn. Surprisingly relatively unscathed, even my mount was still half full of health. My friend not only killed the dragon solo without the ability to control my army, but also had the presence of mind to recover all of my kit. So I on re-podding my army I find one with about 400 element in its inventory. I tried to share the booty with my colleague but they would only take 1 element in payment, like a true hero would do. Apart for the fact I was defeated by the Alpha dragon I recieved all the spoils of war which I had no part in winning. Me 0-1 Alpha dragon. I immediately set about gathering the tributes required for another go at the Dragon. After about an hour I was gifted the artifacts I need, i crafted the cakes for the theris and healed all my dinosaurs. I reached the blue obelisk again with my army, this time I left nothing to chance, I found out how to generate the yuty buff roar. A tribe I was allied with were interested in joining the next fight, but they grew bored waiting for me collecting tributes, they started the brood mother fight to pass time. So I waited for them to finish. Second attempt at the Alpha dragon Again me on yuty, the hero of the previous fight on their own rex and the tribe of two on a couple of my theris. In total 18 theris, a yuty and one rex. 4 survivors in total also, I loaded the tributes into the console and the counter begins.... .....The screen whites out.... ...Then I'm left standing on the obelisk total by myself... .....what the raptor? I find out in chat that the fight is ongoing without me, apparently only my yuty was not involved. Surprisingly my theris were completely capable of taking on the dragon without the commands of an absolute idiot holding them back. My army respawn loaded with the spoils of war, but I am still the loser, still no tek engrams. Lol I know I'm 800 element richer but such an absolute hollow pair victories. I say victories only my army can claim victory I'm still defeated. Me 0-2 Alpha dragon I begin the whole tribute gathering again, the relief that only my pride has been damaged it could have been much more painful at least my army was intact and proven it the fight not once but twice. The next time will be better.....

  7. Started the weekend feeling good about progress... house is practically done... is basically a 8x15 structure with nice porch over the river and views of waterfall and volcano. It is 4 high on the main level and has a second floor for sleeping and storage. I also have an attached argy taming cage and balcony with forges. The greenhouse is also complete and crops are growing nicely. An attached bee aviary is almost complete, just needs a glass ceiling and of course, bees. I have a separate room for an armory and saddle workshop. And I have recently placed many storage closets and added a fabricator and industrial forge to the interior. It is very modest when compared to many of the other bases but I am alone and it is all I need for now. Outside I have completed the staging area / holding pen of 13 behemoth gates in a circle. I HAD a trike, Gus, for a few days, but otherwise I built everything without the use of wood or thatch gathering tame. My deodi has been with me pretty much the whole time to help with stone and I consider him my hero to this point. Anyway, the house is livable. The few tames I have can fit nicely inside, and I am tired of building for now. So I started the weekend with the hopes of finding a good cave mount. I searched for awhile for a good wolf. Nothing. Then got on the boat and sailed around looking for a bary. Didn't find one of those either. But I did find a beaver. So I now have a beaver after the base is built. LMAO. Flashback.. weeks ago one of the more established resident of the island acquired some rex eggs from a trade in another land and said he would raise them for me. So he did and I was able to find my way to him a couple times to get a 40 percent imprint during the process. When done he podded them and gave them to me. I put them in the fridge and basically forgot about them since I didn't really have protection for them. Flashforward again... Took the beaver home and decided to let the rexes out for some fresh air in my new holding pen. two are boys at levels 336 and 404, and twin girls at 331. All of them have about 50 available levels to apply but I know to be careful with the 404 so I don't cap it and lose it. I will breed it with the twins when I get a chance, perhaps at the next event that offers quicker breeding times. That was Friday, to be cont.

  8. We are for sure the same survivor that went from The Island to Extinction. We know this because HLN-A tells us on The Island (or one of the other maps, I don't remember) that we were chosen for the Genesis Simulation. Most likely, you're right on how Rockwell got there. It would seem that both us and him got to the colony ship the same way, he just got there first.

  9. Also Tiny Hippo and ATA I think you may be right about that, Rockwell can’t control the ship, or maybe HLN-A copy was to spy on us? Also nice new logo.

  10. Premise: -Helena can not stay in the Genesis Simulation for long -Rockwell and Helena are very similar, their only difference being that Rockwell has a physical form Therefore, Rockwell can't stay in the Simulation for long either, which is why he uses a puppet, the Corrupted Master Controller, to control things for him. The Colony Ship and the Genesis Simulation were created by the same people using the same systems. It's more than likely that neither Rockwell or Helena, or any Homo Deus, can not properly take control of the ship. This is why Rockwell still can't change the destination. This is why we need HLN-A with us. HLN-A can properly interact with the Genesis Simulation, and therefore also the Colony Ship's systems. This also means that HLN-A is likely the only person capable of doing so at the time. Diana could likely also do it, given that she's been shown to be incredibly capable at piloting all types of vehicles so far, but we don't know what happened with her. This may be why Rockwell was trying to make a copy of HLN-A in the Simulation, so he could have a RKW-L that could operate the ship for him, or he could plan on using us, or more specifically, HLN-A, to operate the ship for him. Put even more simply: Rockwell can't control the ship properly due to being what is essentially a Homo Deus with a body. He needs someone else to do it for him, and currently, the only two people capable of that would be HLN-A and Diana.

  11. I suspect the December 10th most likely will be an announcement for Ark 2, since it's been hinted for easily 2+ years now. However, I wouldn't be surprised if yet again they bring up another series of DLCs to further enrich the lore of the game. I mean, Extinction was supposed to be Ark's last DLC and here we are, with Gen 2 around the corner. Regarding a potential Ark 2, I'm hopping they haven't started developpement pre-UE5 engine or we'll be stuck with the same problems (current game uses an hybrid of UE4.5 mixed with 4.7) and a missed opportunity to support next gen GPUs...

  12. The respawn systems of the Arks and on Earth were disabled, but the Colony Ship likely has its own respawn and cloning systems that are independent of the Arks and Earth. After all, it's supposed to carry with it all kinds of life, so it must have the cloning systems needed to create it. I was coming up with a possible explanation. Ultimately, it's probably the same as the part 2 chronicles, and they didn't actually take place on the Arks, even though the contents of them are completely correct. Well, the GenSim and the Colony Ship are both connected, it definitely wouldn't surprise me if HLN-A could access the systems of the CS. In fact, that's more or less what I was expecting: HLN-A would be opening doors to missions and maybe at the end piloting the CS for us.

  15. Ooh boy, Rockwell is FAR past a Homo Sapiens. He sees himself as some higher life form, like how Nerva did on the Island. Or, to put it bluntly, he sees himself as a God, as noted in Aberration. And I think that he might want us either as the Adam of His Arrival, or possibly in his army. I'll hold onto the Adam theory for now, as if he wanted to corrupt us for his army, he would've done so a LONG time ago.

  16. Same with Genesis Chronicles II. Do you really think that we were kidnapped at the end of Genesis Part I, and Rockwell spat us back out onto the ARKs to watch as HLN-A have a midlife crisis? I don't think so. I think that yes, when we meet back up in Part II she's going to have Helena's memories, but no, she never went with us onto the ARKs in Genesis Chronicles I or II.
    1 point
  17. Well, the Genesis Chronicles most likely aren't cannon. I hate to say it, but I doubt that they really happen. I mean, yeah, the info that they give is cannon, but I doubt us going about all of the maps is really cannon- as in Genesis she wonders about a "walkabout in the real world" and you taking her to see the outside world. Either she's an amnesiac, she's fading like Helena or we didn't really go on the ARKs with her. I choose... noncanon events, canon info.
    1 point
  18. I think that Rockwell has been letting us win against him in the events of Genesis. Back on Aberration, we meet -and defeat- him for the first time, effectively alerting him of not only our immense power, but also of our very high potential. Our survivor then escapes Aberration, becoming Earthbound and eventually activates the ReSeed Protocol, landing the ARKs, crashing Aberration (Possibly more?) and setting Rockwell free. After the meat and potatoes of Genesis, he let's us defeat his "VR Puppet" the Corrupted Master Controller and we are released from our confinements by HLN-A. Rockwell then locates us after we obtain our Exo-Tek Suit and kidnaps us. Fast-forward to the end of the trailer, and he spouts off about "our future." OUR. FUTURE. O-U-R. F-U-T-U-R-E. Whatever Rockwell has in store for us- for the Cosmos- for our destination- We seem to be a definitive variable in "Rockwell's Arrival". ( I guess that it may have been obvious before- but I just wanted to reiterate this bit of info.) Nonetheless, in the end, Rockwell has most likely been training us for "His Arrival"- or something like that. Who knows?

  20. Also, this is now my current headcanon for how Element reached Earth, and unless we get someone reliable to explicitly say otherwise, I will not change my mind on this. Oh I'm laughing alright

  21. Helena/The One Who Waits states in her 15th Extinction note that element was "carried across the universe like interstellar pollen", which rules out the possibility of it being from Earth. Although I think that part you said about element growing in Earth's crust could still be relevant, since I think it might answer the question of when it arrived on Earth. If it came down in a meteor or something in the present day then I'm sure it would of done a considerable amount of damage. Therefore, I think what happened was that a small amount of it arrived on Earth in a meteor millions of years ago, possibly even in the meteor that killed the dinosaurs (that would be a weird bit of irony). From there it grew within Earth's crust over the millennia until it was widespread enough that humanity took notice of it and began utilizing it for their own needs.

  22. The original destination certainly isn't somewhere that we thought had lots of element... Remember that the Genesis Simulation, which is interlinked with the Colony Ship, was an escape plan. It wouldn't lead to somewhere that could potentially have its own King Titan already. Our destination is almost certainly a fairly Earth-like planet, or whatever we could find that was the closest to Earth. Earth certainly could be the origin point of element too, Santiago talks about mining element as if it's a normal thing for his people, which implies that Element was in the Earth, and the Sanctuary was built over a massive deposit of element as well. The other possibility is that element came to Earth, likely in the form of a meteor, although some alien or something could've also came by a long time ago using element and that element just grew over time. Really, its origin could be anywhere at this point, we don't really know anything about that.

  23. I was thinking something less along the lines of us losing, and more like us not completely winning. Well, let me put it a different way. To lose, you need to have a goal that you failed to achieve. What is the goal of the colony ship? There are a few possibilities: It could be to exist as a permanent home out in space, it could serve as a boat to get to somewhere else where they would create a colony, or it would stay out of danger for a while before returning home (least likely imo) As long as the colony ship remains able to preserve the life on it and take its contents to the intended destination then nothing is wrong. That said, Rockwell also seems to have purposefully left much of the ship as it was, meaning the original goal of the Colony Ship is still being achieved, and that could be called a victory. Thing is, Rockwell also seems intent on changing the destination, assuming from how he will 'very soon' be able to control its destination. To keep the CS safe and ensure it completes its mission, all we have to do is make sure it reaches its destination. This can be done without killing Rockwell once and for all. Hell, it would be a win if we're only able to beat back Rockwell for long enough for the ship to reach the destination and offload the people and creatures on it, even if Rockwell takes control of the ship after and flies off. In other words, just because we don't kill Rockwell for good doesn't mean we lose... There's a lot of space in between those extremes. I'm thinking something close to us fighting off Rockwell and forcing him to retreat deeper into the ship while we reach our destination and arrive (relatively) safely and abandon the infested ship before he has a chance to retaliate, but there are still plenty of other options: -We could send down escape pod 'arks' containing life safely to the planet surface of whichever planet we're over at the time -We could blast off parts of the ship that Rockwell's taken over to disconnect us from him while we proceed down the ship's intended path -We could destroy the ship completely, causing it to crash into the planet below. This would be a disaster for much of the life on it, but due to safety mechanisms (similar to how the arks crashed down safely,) there are still lots of things that would survive. This would stop Rockwell from being able to use the ship, and, if done over our destination, would still complete the goals of the CS. Or even still, we could kill Rockwell on the ship, but there's no telling if that's all of him there is... He could have pieces of himself everywhere. Remember, we already killed Rockwell once on Aberration. Just because we kill what we can fight at the time, doesn't mean it's over. That's what I mean when I say I think that we don't kill Rockwell for good here. As for the hole, I think he damage a part of the station which revealed an inner chamber that he fell into when he took control of the station, not that he created the control pit with his attacks. Also, I don't know that we should say the ship was made at Arat Prime. Arat Prime could still be something other than the construction place of the CS. I'd say it's more likely that it was a control site/launching site/both. While it could also be the construction site, I think that it being a control station is more relevant, since it's still linked to the ship in some way, whereas if it were just built at AP, then that would imply there isn't likely any link anymore. I'm just being picky with word choice though I think, you probably meant the same thing. And onto when he got on the ship... It was definitely after Aberration fell, if we assume that the ship was launched as a backup if the Arks didn't work, then the ship was long gone when Aberration touched down. That would mean that Rockwell reached the Genesis Simulation first, then went into the Colony Ship after by going through the Simulation, much like how we did, only since he came first and changed things around, we had to jump through quite a few extra hoops.

  24. Offical Xbox island PvE Big few days in ark. Many weeks in preparation, began by total accident. I missed the alpha dragon boss fight that my server friends undertook due to real life getting in the way of gaming, as it should honestly. My server colleagues succeeded but left them weary of a repeat performance on behalf of myself, as I'm not part of their tribe just a loose affiliate. I was trading with a real OG on the island and this is where the aforementioned accident occurred, he said that I could have some theris (therizinosaurus) eggs for free, so I could do the alpha dragon solo. I took the eggs raised them to adults. Their stats were indeed boss fight level, on this very forum discussed the various strategies I continued to breed, hatch, raise, etc. Researching all the time. The extra life event happened I ended up with 20 adult theris, yuty and a daeodon. Boss fights here I come. But extra research leads me to vegi cakes and kibble food for pig. So I spend days crafting kibbles and cakes. But holding back on the juicy and traumatic details no longer here is the results of my endeavors First 'solo' effort On the advice of this forum ditch the pig, the healing it offers is nothing compared to the extra dps of an extra theri. I only had 20 theris and was really keen on keeping a breeding pair, so taking to the global chat I asked for a theri for sale. I had even practiced group whistle drills with the theri army. Rather than an extra theri I ended up with a server friend whose experience I was definitely delighted to add to my ranks. On their advice they wanted to use their own boss rex. So me on yuty, 18 theris (21k hp and 1400melee) server legend on their own boss rex. Blue obelisk, 18 theris with 10 cakes each, server legend on rex and me on yuty load up to arena....

  25. Xbox Crystal Isles- Server Not much to report today. Been working a lot lately and didn't feel like doing anything crazy in ARK today. I have to remember to pace myself or ill end up in the eventual boredom loop of feeding and maintaining. Dont want that! Puttered around my base while popping anky eggs to hatch. Gathered 10 eggs to hatch at once and popped em all down while doing some touch ups on base. Finally got all my stats to combine into a m/f copy of each other, great. Next project is to add my melee mutation I had and aside from taming others for stats im not going to work on the line much. Ive done Anky lines a million times and would like get a nice niche line to work on. That being said nobody has any good Thyla lines around the server so ill be taming a few of those soon. Went to the redwoods to tame some- admin added bloodstalkers to their spawn so nope'd out of there quickly. Thylas are such a mainstream tame so ill be "puts on thick rimmed glasses and a toque" doing carnos for some change. Did a metal run with one of my new ankys then went back to build. Was building some pieces for a new base addition- going to detach my breeding pen so its not one huge building, always liked compound base builds rather than just one big box builds. - when I had enough of trying to navigate my Mammoth around to build. Great tame, but need something a little more compact to ferry wood around the base. Beaver time. Went off to get some dams anyways, grabbed a few and grabbed a 260 beaver to bring home to tame. Its a long tame with loads of torpor timer manipulation so I stayed in my base. Built a few vaults, some pieces to my breeding pen and was going to start placing the footing but was getting tired. Decided I'd save it for today after work. As I'm typing this I remembered we have those corner foundations now, so ill build something somewhat aestetically pleasing but also isn't too bad on my load times. Still using an original Xbox one here, not excited for the eventually "base is so big to load in first try" phase that will eventually come. Anyways, just rambling now. D1NK out

Be sure to tune in for a special treat from Jeremy and Jesse!” From the new ark article. I’m convinced this is ARK 2, it adresses the whole community, and it has both the owners. And it’s at the game awards

  30. Let's pray that Ark 2 isn't the TRAIN WRECK that Ark was. To see the potential of this game...and then see it not met SUX. Love the game idea. HATE the lack of experienced devs, 50+ daily crashes/bugs/glitches, not to mention the forced play. I cant take a week off w/o tons if poop auto decaying. Thats straight up blackmail. Makes me not want to play. "You either come back and play our title OR YOU LOSE YOUR poop. 2 weeks, a month, ok but 3 or 4 days off and you screw the people that support you? Just wrong on so many levels. Not interested in anyone making excuses for em' either. Just do what the big boys do and fix it.
