  1. (Official, Valguero) Made a rex saddle (80 armor), made an argy saddle. Unpodded one of my older argents, saddled her up, podded again. Took bone costume off Bitey, saddled him up, podded him. Uploaded them. (Official, Scorched Earth) Created a new survivor because I wasn't able to get the one I left on Aberration to a drop. With great difficulty and at least five deaths got to the red Obelisk. Took pods, unpodded Bitey, went to the desert, found a worm, killed it (not all that hard!), built a stone trap, unpodded argent, used her to lure a level 15 female mantis into the trap, podded the argent again, thus de-aggroing the mantis, tamed the mantis, named her Tissa, podded her. Found another deathworm, killed it, made a thatch trap, lured in a level 50 male mantis, de-aggroed, fed, and... It wasn't enough. Went to look for another worm, took too long, when I came back mantis' taming progress was gone, except I noticed it AFTER feeding him. Went into the desert, found a worm, killed worm, found another worm, killed worm, returned to the mantis, fed him, waited, fed him again and THEN he was tamed. Named him Kess, podded him (had to leave argent on follow because only two pods. Went to the green Obelisk, uploaded pods with mantises, rode a bit away from the obelisk, unclaimed Bitey and the argent (don't need them anymore - if I needed them at my main base I wouldn't have sent them to SE in the first place, and now that I have mantises I no longer need a SE survivor, so keeping it just to take care of dinos... Yeah. That would just end in auto-decayed dinos), logged off. (Official, Valguero again) Retrieved mantises, unpodded them, made a saddle (just one for now), tried Kess' resource-harvesting abilities within the base (after the last expansion I got a few tree logs on my territory in addition to bushes and rocks) - pretty good! Might replace the therizino one day. Bred gachas, manas and gasbags, waiting for all of them now. Unpodded Midnight and the future new tek rex breeder (named Deathbite). ... Gasbags done, female baby, podded. Manas done, female baby, killed. Gachas done, male baby, not dust, killed. Deathbite is juvenile now, stuffed troughs full of meat, put a stack of basic kibble in his inventory and logged off. (Official, Extinction) Fed dinos. (Official, Crystal Isles) Checked on wyverns. And that's enough ARK for today.

  2. Had the hankering to start a casual single player save on Crystal Isles today. Don't know why but I've been just wanting to build & chill. Plan to start this weekend, doing a bit of googling on CI is very disheartening, bad reviews and im worried about how itll run on my Xbox single. Time to research a base spot

  3. You've only just noticed that? I thought everyone saw that their first time watching the cutscene.

  4. Nothing against you either, but i do get your point and just think it's doesn't hold up too well once one goes through it's base. For example this part: I'm aware of that note, but i would argue that "off-brand" just means cheap/worse quality here, especially considering the context of the situation, with a bunch of soldiers and engineers having to build everything from scratch. What i'm trying to say is that it probably only meant they built a makeshift one and not that all URE tek is offbrand ( and even if the suit was off brand, it wouldn't automatically mean the rest of tek was too ). Now as for the argument that the we craft the very same stuff that they craft, isn't a bit odd to take gameplay as a base to discuss the lore, especially since both of these things are rarely connected in the actual gameplay ? The connection's just a bit too inconsistent to get anything meaningful out of it in my opinion. Of course that doesn't mean everything that happens in the game isn't valid for lore, but i would probably take a step back and rather base it on things like cutscenes or info from wildcard. That aside, i actually don't disagree with the point that we are making URE tek ( aka. the same as they craft ), due to the arks being the UREs response to the elements infection as opposed to the federation with the Simulation/colony ship, so from a lore only perspective it still makes sense that survivors on the ark would build URE tek. I just don't think that our suit is worse than the federation one. The absence of a logo on our tek armor doesn't mean it wasn't used in wars, as Diana mentions being fully certified for Tek Armor in the same note you quoted in the beginning ( and the one we wear ingame according to your argument ), which means that the URE trained parts of its military with it. According to your argument that we use the same stuff as them, that then means that the same tek armor we use ingame was also used in wars, which leads me to believe that it's on par with the federation suit. Also, considering the fact that the URE and the federation both have their own aesthetics when it comes to tek, i don't believe it's superior just because of a different look. ImOnFyre made a post about it's look a bit ago and i think it sums it up better than i could do.

  5. And considering the fact that the armor we get at the end of Genesis P1 is more REFINED and features several LOGOS that OUR Tek armor is MISSING leads me to believe that the new armor is the "real thing" possibly manufactured by a company or something. It's what the Tek survivors used during wars and whatnot, as no civillain would be allowed that infinite power lol

  6. And what I mean by that, is that the Tek sleeping chambers that WE craft, are the same that THEY craft.

  7. This is one of my most simple theories that people just don't get... Nothing against you. I dunno what one specifically, but in diana's notes on ab she claimed that she and the other Tek survivors "Cobbled together" some "off brand" Tek armor. Considering the fact that we craft the very same stuff that THEY craft, like the Tek sleeping chambers, I'd assume that the armor we make is similar I'd not the very same.

  8. Why does that post prove any of these claims ? Why would our tek be the rip-off and not the other way around ? Especially that part seems a bit odd to me, considering the fact that one of dianas notes on aberration even mentions Santiago reverse engineering URE tek. Because of that note i would say that both sides indeed stole designs from each other, so instead of declaring one of the sides "fake tek" i would rather say that both are kind off legit

  9. SURVIVOR'S EXPERIENCES: THE ISLAND: Waking up on a dinosaur island in naked and cold, we must craft primitive tools to our own rendition of futuristic Tek-Weaponry, Buildings and Armor, taming prehistoric creatures all throughout our adventure. Eventually we become the top banana of the food chain in order to defeat the Overseer of what seems to be the very Island we had been surviving upon, high above a dead planet amidst many other "ARKs". Here is where we learn about Helena Walker, Nerva (DECEASED), Mei and Rockwell. SCORCHED EARTH: Arriving upon a vast desert station, we must beat the heat under the artificial sun in order to regain our top rank an defeat this ARK's sole guardian: The Manticore. The desert, however, is home to much more than dinosaurs... Medieval fantasy creatures and heavily genetically-modified creatures roam the land, and it is up to us to make use of them, along with an array of wondrous new technology related to the map. This is where Rockwell begins his element-craze, where Helena begins an inner-battle with whom she truly is, and where "that one bandit guy" (DECEASED) sacrificed himself to a now all-wise (DECEASED?) Egyptian priest. ABERRATION: A destroyed ARK running rampant with Abberant Mutated dinosaurs, Mutated survivors from before us and alien creatures that are all linked in some way to the elemental rivers running through it's expansive cave systems. For a third time we have been knocked down to the bottom of the barrel and are forced to exploit our environment- this time including ziplines, radiation and giant mushrooms. After many months we clash with Rockwell- long, long after he brought upon himself an element hell which he calls his heaven and hierarchy. After laying him low, we are treated to a gift lent to us by our forefathers in the form of a grand portal that breaks the boundary between the broken ARK and the dead planet below us- Earth. Mei has come back into the story, furious with Rockwell for killing her love. Helena is struggling with herself and the fact that she is most likely manufactured, Rockwell becomes the villain of the story, Diana dies (DECEASED... SORT OF I GUESS. NOT REALLY.) and some random grads all die a horrible death. Great. EXTINCTION: Welcome to the apocalypse, sucker. You know the drill, survive and get to the very top. This time we have the aid of the Titans- elemental behemoths, and Tek left behind by the sanctuary's denizens and protectors. (Also Meks gifted to us by Helena made by Santiago. He was on Ab too I guess, but wasn't compelled to write anything down there.) Fighting back corrupted element as we go, we eventually meet- (And defeat) the Alpha King Titan- ruler of the element hivemind. After that, we lose our implant and the ARKs land back down to earth, destroying the sanctuary, purging corrupted element, terraforming the land and spreading life- fantasy and prehistory. Helena has become a Homo Deus (Being beyond our world) and is fading to time and masses of information, Santiago (DECEASED) was torn apart by the titans and corrupted creatures, whereas Mei and Diana are travelling to ARAT PRIME, something on the other side of the planet relating to Genesis and possibly the ARKs- unknowingly being led by their friend, Helena. GENESIS PART 1: Mysteriously waking in the Genesis Simulation being led by a fragment of Helena's personality, we again, do our thing- with, wouldn't you know? Another twist. Missions that prepare us for a massive event planned during the golden age of humanity: The Arrival. Fixing glitches through the sim gives us the hint that Rockwell has been heavily abusing the sim in order to train/rid/torture/test/abduct/corrupt/enslave survivors. Jesus Christ dude- You kinda suck! Facing off and defeating his virtual form- The Master Controller, and his army of Virtual Corruptees, gives us this:

  10. Perhaps the armor will work in a way so that it's relatively low-tier when compared to the creatures you'll be up against in GP2, and we'll be able to unlock certain upgrades for it - by completing missions? - as time goes on. That way there would still be some sense of progression.

  11. Well, not much happened for a few days, I didn't have a lot of Ark time until today. Was working on my artifact collecting when disaster struck. Having retrieved the third and final artifact deep in Nosti, we made our way to the exit. But disaster struck, and this was totally my fault. I didn't feel like fighting my way out so we just ran, I misjudged the jump and my thyla, jerboa and I tumbled into the endless chasm, just feet below the safe line. So, I have to say that was really discouraging. I regrouped and decided to go hunt for a new thyla to add to my mix. One of the reasons I'm reluctant to fight, the main reason really, is that I do not have a good melee stat on my thylas. It's less than mediocre in fact. So I took my lightning wyvern out hunting and actually found a high level one very quickly. Tamed it and got melee in the low range, but higher than it was. So I spent most of the afternoon breeding thylas and getting my bloodline sorted. Got the new thyla up and took it out, successfully running Nosti for that final artifact. We then backtracked somewhat and spent some time farming the Old Tunnels in search of an elusive rex saddle blueprint. No joy, but I got some ascendant desert cloth blueprint which is nice. Honestly I am starting to run low on tasks working towards the manticore goal. I have my army with plenty of levels earned in cryo. I have the artifacts. I have the yuty. All I need is the saddle blueprint, the saddles, and the talons. Speaking of, I've been starting to farm them more seriously. Poison are by far the most difficult to get due to their breath, I was very disappointed to learn the poison wyvern does not protect you from their breath. I probably knew that previously and forgot. But at the very end of the evening all of my patience has been rewarded. I finally, finally found a high level fire wyvern egg, a 180. And there's something else too... Event colors. None of the stats are really standout, but he's very well rounded. I can't wait to take him out for his first flight.

  12. Xbox island official PVE Halloween event. A few of the more established members on the server mobilized to take down the fabled Dodorex. Mostly riding Wyverns we took a portion of the island each to search. The period of time Dodorex spawn is only about 15 minutes long, so finding and killing the beast would be difficult. The general consensus was Gigas was the weapon of choice, but like the boss fights I made sure I only equipped kit I could afford to lose. So no chibi, my otter companion was left behind and all my tek armour. The search started I was on 'Remember red ember' my third best Wyvern, the most expendable lol. I had my Giga cryopoded 'Red Fury' definitely not expendable but I have 2 Female and one Male Gigas. I am lucky to have a large amount of combat armour stored mainly due to my Gacha addiction. But I digress, back to the search. I took the area from the west coast to the volcano as my grid to start to try and locate the Dodorex, then the worst possible thing happened, it started to rain. Flying blind as I didn't have the luxury of my tek helmet night vision function I was unable to see anything nevermind be any good at spotting ground based event dinos. Luckily a member of a neighbouring tribe shouted out in game chat that the beast was on the east coast, it was attacking a wild Giga. Although I have a GPS and the exact coordinates of our target, I stumble around the Red Woods in utter confusion to which direction to go. Eventually I get the correct bearing and make haste to the target area. I arrived fashionably late, Dodorex long gone and the only thing left was the victor flaunting the spoils of war. In this case a Zomdodo and a group of three skeleton chilbi's. Yet again time was my enemy, I retreated back to base. All the richer for the overall group experience, that I rarely participate in as being in a solo outfit. Well done Wildcard for this event, the 2-3 hours of preparing to attack the Dodorex and the engagement of 10 or so loosely affiliated survivors in the endeavour really was some of the best time I have had gaming. Not just on Ark but in gaming generally in years.

  13. My wife is constantly yelling "YOU DEFECATED!!!" as I play and poop. It is now integrated in my life. Dog poops: "SHE DEFECATED!!!" I hear a knock at the bathroom door: "ARE YOU DEFECATING IN THERE?" Bird craps on car window: "IT DEFECATED!!!" Thank you Wildcard Studios... your legacy is set within the Lux family.

  15. This proves my "Offbrand" Tek theory. The Tek we make isn't legitimate, it's a shot in the dark. This stuff, this is DEFINITELY legit.
