The Dodorex and Dodowyvern will be striking fear into the hearts of Survivors with their fearsome return to the ARK! Hunt for new diabolical chibis, spectral creature skins, event themed threads, and new holiday emotes. The 'Live Tuning' system is a dynamic configuration system which will allow server hosts to easily modify supported game properties without the need for mods. All that is required is a simple edit of a json file, and you're good to go! As you can imagine, this new dynamic configuration system will provide useful options for server administrators, especially as we grow it out to support more properties. For the modding community, this system is also very powerful. Modders may have actually seen it before in the property details panel. When you add variables there is a checkbox for "Live-Tunable". Checking that box on properties will opt them into the system. By doing so, this will allow server owners to tweak mod settings on the fly without the need for mod updates. As the system evolves, we hope to add more options and expose more values to tweak. The 'Live Tuning' system provides ways for server administrators to offer dynamic events in a quick, simple, and straightforward way. For more information on the 'Live Tuning' system and how to set it up, check out the following thread. We'll be adding more details as the system continues to expand: Networking & Live Game Improvements One of our constant priorities is monitoring the live-game and server reliability. Over the past few weeks, we've noticed an increase in reports about server instability. The causes of server instability may range but our engineering team has been hard at work diagnosing the root causes. In a past Community Crunch we noted that we've been working on technical changes behind the scenes to increase server performance and mitigate some of the attacks we're seeing against the servers. We've made improvements to mesh detection, added more protection against DDOS, and fixed various exploits/cheats that could be used to intentionally crash servers. Since deploying those changes we have seen a noticeable decrease in some of the server instability reports and attacks we were seeing. Although things have improved, we will continue to work against malicious players who intend to ruin the experience for others. Structure Stasis Changes We've made some changes with a focus on improving performance. This reworks how structures are loaded/unloaded on the server. The simple idea is that fewer calculations take place at a given time with the new system so the server doesn't have to do as much. Something to note is that the performance gains are more noticeable when more active structures are present (so think really busy, large bases) and an increased number of players on a server. The structures are now broken up into a grid, when a player logs in they are assigned grid cells appropriate to their location, and the structures in those cells are loaded. That way not all are loaded. This setting is enabled by default on Official Servers, and Unofficials can now opt-into using the new system too by setting the following server parameter in their commandline: -UseStructureStasisGrid This will work on both PC and Console, but we highly recommend that it is not used on servers with mods, as there are some assumptions made about structures in stasis and this could cause issues with modded content, however in a future devkit update, you'll be able to opt said structures out of the system to avoid the issues. TLDR: Predominantly busy servers with a lot of players and big bases will be seeing the most significant performance gains. (Official, Valguero) Stopped feeding Generous (as in, no personal feeding, trough-only now) because I'm seriously swimming in obsidian now and don't need any more, won't need any more for a long time, in fact. So now only Schedraya gets food put directly in her inventory - metal is always useful, and I go through it pretty quickly. Bred them, just to see what resources the baby will make. Hope for something neat. Bred the velonasaurs, too, the baby is female. Will raise her later. Unpodded Frosty (the second owl) and still-nameless female tek rex to raise them, also, Deimos is an absolute monster of a meatrunner. Podded Diablo because I'm not doing any more giga breeding anytime soon so he doesn't have to occupy space and waste meat right now. Unpodded and killed all the 70% melee giga babies I accumulated. By the way, their hitboxes are kinda weird - I only managed to hit them about half the time despite standing right in front of them. That's all for now. ... Gacha was born. Female, Obsidian/Congealed Gas Balls. Not cool enough. Killed it. (Official, Extinction) Logged on to check on the dinos, looked at the tribe log, noticed that there isn't anything about that mana that floated off dying, so I made a saddle and grabbed a pod and went to check. And she was there! But I forgot the saddle in the smithy. Went back, then again to the mana, saddled her up, landed, Rose was unable to follow me because too fast, so rode the mana to The City, reched my base, podded mana, took Horus, went back for Rose, and then, finally, uploaded the mana. (Official, Valguero) Retrieved the mana. Named her Luna. Pretty fun to ride, and it turns out my previous, confusing and extremely laggy, experience of riding a mana (when I was in the passenger seat, being brought back home after my first ever trade) wasn't representative of how it actually goes - a wild-tame with no points put in speed is actually pretty fun! ... Read about manas a bit, saw that their breeding times are manageable, unlike those of some other species that give live birth, so they're actually suitable for me to breed with only minimal missed and starved babies and/or intentionally podded mothers because I just don't feel like that. I mean, 4 hours gestation? I can stay that long in the game with no problem! So I uploaded some kibble, mats for the saddle (don't feel like harvesting them on Ext), and a cryopod and logged off Valguero to instead log on with my side-survivor on... ...(Official, Extinction). I grabbed the stuff, made the saddle (didn't forget to actually take it with me this time!) and went to the ice dome. Spent quite some time searching for an alright level male that's stuck in the air. Killed a bunch of stuff, including inferior manas. And I found him! Well, he was only level 85, but that's the best I found. Plus he was stuck high enough to be safe from anything non-aerial, but low enough to give me plenty of time to saddle him up once tamed. So I tranqed him, tamed him, saddled him up (first try! ), mounted him (5 or 6 tries. ), landed, podded, got on Rose's back , went to The City, uploaded him at the nearest terminal, returned to the base and logged off. Also, wrote down his base health, melee, stam and weight, because I didn't write down Luna's so those are extra-important for future breeding.

  6. This is great. You guys have really stepped your game up. Only complaint I have is that I'm kind of getting frustrated with all the swim suit skins. Costumes and armor styles are severely lacking in Ark and Halloween would have been a great time to introduce things like Vampire capes, costume ball dresses, scare crow outfits etc. Who wears swimsuits in October lol

Its not that simple. 2:-As for insiding, sure it sucks when it happens to you, but that seems like how it would be in real life. 3:-I feel like wiping all there servers would do WAY more harm then good.

  8. Why last event you gave a broken DinoDarkPurple31 that only worked in region 4 of all dinos, and this time you don't ? You never give purple colors in any events... Halloween is great for that color come on everyone want purple No one wants brown colors that all creatures have, come on.

  9. Will the new ghost creatures spawn on ALL maps or just certain ones? Or will it be required to jump between maps to get all of the skins? I play single player so if have to jump between maps , I'm just gonna spawn the skins in.

This Event is Awesome, but I feel like several missed ideas like a Zombie Brontosaurus and Parasaur Skins when killing a Wild Zombie Brontosaurus and Parasaur (based on/Parody of the Primal Plague of Madness Episode), a Sword Skin to look more Ghastly and Mysterious, a Zomdodo Chibi and a Ghost Skin for the Genesis Creatures. Other that that, these new Ghost Creature Skins will look interesting when released.

What they honestly need to do , to revive the game is fix all duping, meshing ,hacking (basically all cheating methods) and also make a ban for insiding because its killing the game(new tribes cant be made and megatribes dont recruit randoms) they need to do all that, then wipe all official servers and let players start again clean.

  14. Sweet! It’s awesome to see the holiday season come back around to Ark! The new ghost creatures that’s gone be wild!!!! For some reason I foresee my self going “wth” A LOT this fear evolved event. New chibis, new dino colors and new ghost creatures nice looking forward to it. In regards to rates yeah I slight boost in harvesting rates would be nice but seriously they did just go to permanent 2x, and from what I’ve seen yeah it is 2x. We will probably be getting 2x breeding and 2x xp. I’m thankful that we’re getting 2x breeding a lot more, remember the months that players would have killed for a 1.5 breeding event.
