  1. I've had a string of bad luck. Yesterday, I tried to tame a doedi, only level 10. I don't need anything special right now so I decided a level 10 was better than my pickaxe. Anyway, for some reason it was taking foorrrrrrreeeevvvveeeerrrrr!!! The taming meter was going up very slow like it was a high level creature. After awhile, I force fed it more narcotics and put a stack of berries in the inventory then I ran off to get some other stuff done. I returned about 15 minutes later to find it had woken up. Soooo, I knocked it out again and the same thing happened somewhere between 70-80 percent tamed. It just woke up. {headscratcher} Today, I started the game and immediately got the red message that I had died. Interesting. I was in a pretty safe place at my base when I last quit and the tribe log said I died but did not say how. Ok, whatever. I know... it is ARK. So I spent a little time re-equipping myself with gear that I had lost. NOTE TO SELF...store all gear and valuables in a safe location before quitting the game. {another headscratcher} Then I went looking for another doedi and found a beautiful level 145 on the beach. Of course it had to be the "mosh pit" beach on the west coast. When I nosed the taming raft into the beach and lure it to me, all chaos erupted. I was quickly overtaken by a pack of hyenas and two carnos. Many were in my pen and some were chewing on various parts outside the pen... and when I drove away from the beach.... A couple of hyenas glitched into my enclosed area around the tiller and...the nasty creatures ate me. I spawned back at base and flew my ptera to the raft... died two more times trying to re-take my raft. Eventually, I cleared the boat and regained control. I recognized some design flaws in the raft and spent a little time making adjustments. I headed back to look for a doedi again and the 145 was somehow still kicking on the beach. I stepped out to take a shot and get it to aggro on me, however, I also got the attention of the argy flying overhead. I got back in the driver seat and the argy followed me down the beach. I stopped the boat and it flew up to my raft and its head was glitching through the walls as it was trying it's best to get me. It was a level 35. I shot it a few times, it flew away and then landed on the beach, unconscious. Ok. I thought my luck was turning. I know a 35 is nothing to brag about, but I don't have an argy and I would humbly accept this gift from the Ark gods without question. Then I played the babysitting game. I would make sure it had food and high torpor, then run back to the raft for protection (still semi close to the mosh pit). Everything was going great. At one point I checked on it and I saw it was at like 97%, it still had about 15 raw meat in the inventory, and torpor meter showed about 30% remaining. I ran back to the boat and put some supplies in the work bench. I stepped back out to try to watch it wake up and it was gone. Not dead with a wild animal eating the carcass, just gone, vanished, poof. Nothing else around. {Another headscratcher}. It really takes the wind out of your sails each time the game does something like this. These should be easy tames, and I am failing every time. I don't understand. Aaaarrrrgh!

  2. Well, this one I know. It happens when the game decides you spawn below ground. Pretty much every login, my location is a little bit off from where I logged off before. Right now I know a place that is relatively safe to log off, but with Ark, nothing's for granted. So, as you said ... store your valuables in a safe place (made a board specifically for that purpose), undress and logoff only after that. This problem can hit you very hard if you log off involuntarily (like your client crashes) and find all your best equipment with your corpse below ground. If you're playing on your own server, there are cheats to counter this problem. But on official, you're just f*ed up. And yes, we all know that fun and frustration are very close neighbours in this game. As if it wasn't hard to get started anyway, you also have to get used to all the quirks and glitches. Hope you still have fun! Regards, Eleusius.

  3. Thank you for your answer, and yes you're absolutely right. I made some tests and indeed the server creates a .tmp file if the save file is being downloaded when the autosave occurs. That means that this autosave is lost / skipped but 15 minutes later, when the next autosave occurs, everything returns to normal and the tmp file is automatically deleted. So as MirageUK said there should not be any issue.

  4. Today, I stayed close to home and didn't chase anything that wasn't for dinner. I needed a day away from taming. So I decided to fire up the lumber mill and made stack after stack of fresh lumber. My house is pretty cool but I will need more room if I am to start acquiring any more dinos. The ones I have are just parked on the front yard and are subject to attack from any wandering raptor or carno that get too close. I picked out a spot on the property for a dino house to keep them safe. The seagulls have also been getting on my nerves lately and a barn of sorts might be a good idea.

  5. (Official, Valguero) Tek rexes are growing fine. Went to an elemental hunt with Elisabeth, got attacked by a level 20 alpha rex. Running away on a giga isn't exactly possible, so I had to fight. Elisabeth lost a lot of health, but we won. The loot wasn't any good - just the standard skull and teeth. Went to the loot cave in hopes for a giga saddle BP, no such thing was found. Got a 60-something armor daeo saddle BP (kinda useful) and a 221.2 ascendant slingshot BP (in a red crate. Red crate!). Still, asc BP is an asc BP, so I decided to keep it. Even used it to make a slingshot and tamed a wild level 145 dilo with it. Added more meat to the raising troughs, restacked it to make it last longer, logged off.

  6. Well me and my tribe mate worked on our new massive metal base and made a few trade deals.

  7. Today I haven't done anything yet, but the plans are to quickly check on my wyverns on the Crystal Isles, then log onto Valguero to pop the giga egg into the hatchery (7 hours left), get a new egg from my gigas, do a big meatrun, at least big enough to fill 1 and a half troughs in the raising corner, and raise my tek rexes and Deimos for as long as I could without running out of things to entertain myself with while the they just stand there and eat meat. Maybe breed baries too. Maybe even argents as well - been a while since I last did anything with them. (official, Valguero, and Crystal Isles too) Things went almost as planned: I checked on the wyverns, then logged on to Valguero, did a meatrun, bred gigas, unpodded and bred argies, bred baries. Put all the eggs into the hatchery, did a meatrun, unpodded Deimos and the tek rexes. For a while things were fine: I monitored the bary egg as the one with shortest incubation timer, added meat to baby rexes' inventory as needed, took short breaks from that by watching videos on YouTube. Killed an Alpha rex (and didn't forget to put on my chibi megalodon before that!). The bary hatched into a male, mom's colors, dad's stripes, mom's heath, dad's melee and stamina - all in all, as perfect as can be without mutations! I raised him for a bit. The only thing the went not as planned is that by the time tek rexes turned juvenile, I realized that I can go for a nap. So I podded Deimos and the bary, did an extra meatrun, picked up the eggs, gave rexes 50 basic kibble each, and logged off.

  8. Sorry guys, re-uploaded without my own config. Re-packaged 54 without my config included. I've never had issues with the ARK save happening at the same time so couldn't confirm. @gloilin Loot crates aren't held in the save game but you can add them yourself as map markers for each appropriate map.

  9. As far as I can tell, when the ArkViewer (or any other program) reads the ark save file, Ark itself is prevented from writing to that file so the save can't happen as normal. This needs to be confirmed, but I think Ark will create a ".tmp" file instead of the ".ark". I think this is default Windows behaviour. A file can't be written to while it is being read.

  10. Today, the baby pile. lol this is all I've been doing today. I thought I'd show this because I thought they looked funny. I whipped them all into this blob so they'd stop batting me around with their glitchy tails while I was trying to get to the actual tiny babies that still need to be hand fed.

  11. Yep, same here. Every server I play on not showing up in the list. Just tweeted this and opened server down tickets for them. Let's start with the servers: NA-PVE-XboxOfficial-Valguero1096 NA-PVE-XboxOfficial-CrystalIsles1488 NA-PVE-CrossPlayOfficial-TheIsland839 NA-PVE-CrossPlayOfficial-CrystalIsles1482 The fact that so many people are having this issue and the devs can't even respond is not only infuriating, it's also just downright rude. In some of our cases we've spent upwards of $100 or more on the game. I own it on Steam, on Xbox & Windows 10. Paid for. Bought and paid for. No support. And the one time I do get a response from a dev over this very issue and how they roll out updates, it's a smug response about how they're not "like the big developers." I'm a game designer. I've worked on teams big and small. Triple A Dev to Indie Dev. Even on the Indie Team, myself and others on the team responded within an hour to forum posts, Facebook posts, and Twitter posts. Even after the doors were closed one one team, we still responded to posts from that game's community because we cared about them and the game. The way this Dev Team handles their community is absurd at best. But more align with appalling. I'd say just bring me on a a Producer, but not sure if they can afford me and I really don't want to move to Washington state. I don't understand the mentality in place at WC. I've made a suggestion a number of times, and other than a smug response from a dev, I've seen NO real positive response. So I'll state it once again, because maybe the squeaky wheel will get the bloody grease. Move all your server updates and official updates to Tuesdays, like Bungie and Blizzard, and oh yeah, a ton of other games from developers BIG and SMALL to Tuesdays. Start them at like 4AM or even 6AM. Tell the player base to expect all servers to be offline for 6 hours. Tuesday is kind of already considered Patch Day by many gamers and pretty sure nobody would be upset by it. Don't deploy fixes during prime time be it in NA or EU. If it's not a critical update save it till Tuesday. The way you all handle this stuff is rookie BS and after having been in development for as long as this has been, this should NOT be an issue. If WC can't handle the workload, get with Microsoft6 Games Studios and let MS help you out. Yeah, some of you probably think it's a bad deal, but really, it's not. I'd say go to Sony but they've historically not been very good to devs. Come on WC, you all made a great game and with a little love and attention to your player base, you could see your sales go up. I can't, in good conscience recommend the game to friends ATM with all the issues and the lack of quality, positive interaction with your player base.

  13. Thx for the link to Cedrec's Tweet, for I stopped watching his content for several reasons, some reasons out of my control (my gaming Twitter is locked because I switched PC's), but I personally chose to not look at his tweets regularly because he has posted tweets that hurt me a little inside. Amusement at the loss of tames is not something I want to see, ever. @ladyteruki some really good ideas there! Even if all we get is links to some of Staff's favorite forum threads, or even links to maybe some redit posts or copies of other official content, I would like to see more readable content, than a picture of a dino's hearted fanny

  14. THESE. SUGGESTIONS. ARE. ALL. AMAZING!!! A lot of them are really low hanging fruit as well. I hope WC reads it and acts!

  15. Damn ladyteruki hit the nail right on the head! It would be amazing to read and see all of what she’s talking about. In a way you are promoting your game. Maybe explain the process of what you guys go through in fixing bugs and broken aspects of the game (obviously not in great detail due to dbag human beings looking for ways to cheat). Maybe pitch some ideas to the community as far as some things whether it would be a good idea or not a good idea. I keep remembering what Cedric said at last year’s 24 hour live stream event about things being introduced into the game and the players coming up with different ideas on how to use it, and the comment that was made was “we develop something intended for one use and then see people use it in a way we never even considered.” Maybe do some fan art of people’s builds on servers (officials and unofficials) I used to love that! The sky is the limit, and ladyteruki is right, you would never have to worry about dropping spoiler alerts. Ark has a good couple of years left before a sequel, don’t waste it. Maybe develop some mini games as a dlc, just an idea. We understand you guys are so busy it would make the raptor clause’s head spin, and we thank you for all that you guys are working on! There are so many awesome ideas out there and obviously all of them can’t be added to the game, but maybe talking about the process on how do ya pick which ones to add or not? Just a couple ideas that come to me on the fly. Yes in some ways it adds more work to you guys, but I think it will pay off in the long run.

  16. Some people enjoy looking at the fan art. Just because there's no news worthy news this week doesn't mean they shouldn't show-off players fan art. If there was no Community Crunch because there was no news then people would complain that there was no Crunch. So it's best all round if the people that enjoy looking at fan art enjoy reading this, and those that aren't interested in the fan art just carry on with what they were doing. At the end of the day there's nothing worth making a mountain out of a molehill here by moaning about it.

  17. Bummer, that means I have to actually find them first though. On Tunguska I have been told they just spawn "anywhere" without coordinates for possible locations

  18. I think in a ideal world it is 2x but it is not, if the farming rates were permanently changed to 2x i should be getting 2 rocks every time, like on 4x you get 4 rocks

  19. Yes @MirageUK : Again thanks a million, but we get your servers credentials and whole informations.

  20. Hi @MirageUK, I didn't have time to download and use the version 54 until now. There is a issue when I start it, it's stuck : it seems it tries to download a save on a FTP server, which is probably your server, because a "Mirage Genesis 1" folder appears in the ARK Viewer folder. I can't access the settings of ARK Viewer, when I click the settings nothing happens, and I couldn't exit the program either, I had to force close it. EDIT : the second time I launched ARK Viewer, it loaded your Genesis save and I could access the settings to delete the credentials of your FTP server and use my own settings. So everything is fine now, but maybe you should re-upload ARK Viewer without your server settings. EDIT 2 : Thank you so much for the cryopods fix ! I can see all of our dinos now. Well done ! ?
