  1. Hi Everyone! I'm a relatively new ARK player that is still hanging around The Island on single player. Today I decided to check out Ragnarok and see if I could find a high level male rex to tame so that I can start breeding for bosses. I've not been having much luck finding one on the island, and even though I am trying to do the story maps in order I'm starting to get a little frustrated. Instead of a rex I came back with two allosaurus so I guess that was kind of a fail, but I have no regrets. I'm still thinking of names for them. Tomorrow I will probably focus on breeding a few more megatherium. I'm close to having the nineteen I need for the broodmother fight, although only four of them have enough levels for me to feel comfortable. I may go ahead and move them to the obelisk to clear up some space at my base.

  3. Logged onto Valguero, realized that the giga hatched and died without me, shrugged, took Elisabeth to a hunt. Went to check for any rock elems for me to kill, there were two, both much higher level than I'd prefer (85 and 95), but I decided to give it a try. Lured the 85 one away, and... It wasn't actually much harder than killing a level 15 one! Sure, Elisabeth lost a bit more health than usual, but still not much. I attacked a level 95, and it was just as easy. Then I killed some dinos for meat and went back to the base. Filled the carnivore/mixed troughs, took Snow on an in-base berry run to gather food for the herbivores, put that in the troughs too, placed the resources into the appropriate boxes. And then I saw an allo. I don't know what level it was, but it was mint-green with white belly and I wanted to tame it. So I decided to build a new trap, as I've taken down the old one when expanding the base. I made the new one from metal, just because. And, remembering the few times when I found sleeping humans in my trap, the new one has an unlocked door and a sign on the inside, saying "This is a dino trap. If you're human - the exit's here", with an arrow pointing to the door. Of course, while I was doing all that the allo either ran away or got itself killed. But at least now I have a place to lure whatever other nice dinos I see near my base.

  4. Glad to hear it is doable. I have a Yuty that I bred and imprinted, although her parents weren't max level. I've been taking her out on meat runs and I think I have her up around 30k hp now so she should be pretty good. I've been levelling my megatheriums in the swamp cave. They're ending up with about 20k hp and 1k damage, so hopefully that will be enough. My saddle is a ramshackle one. And speaking of megatheriums, I bred the last one so now that part is done. Now I just need to get their saddles made up and level them. Plus I need to check the artifacts I have. I think I have a full set, but I know I will want to do multiple runs for some element. Not looking forward to the lava cave again. I also got a good rex saddle blueprint last night in the underwater cave so once I find a good male I am all set there. I'll probably head out to carno island and see if what I can find.

  7. That is not a dino would’ve thought I would get as a suggestion. Interesting. Aren’t they a pain to tame? I remember getting my first one and being like... never again. hope you enjoyed your hiking ?

  9. Hey all! I’m finally at the point where I can install electrical cables around the base and I have enough gasoline to power everything. I figured I’d better get a grid first, THEN go look for honey ‘cause it spoils so fast. I’m a few checklist items away , but I’m starting preparations for the broodmother. Can’t decide if I want to go with rex’s or not. I’m hoping to only need one core team to do all the bosses and eventually overseer, which is why I’m thinking rex’s. Lemme know what you guys think. other than that, I got myself my third otter (RIP, “Otter” and “Deadpool”) cause they keep dying in caves ? next up for me when I log in next is finishing my electrical grid so I can get my fridge working, then go tame a queen bee. Can’t wait for the adventure that’s gonna be.

  12. SO WC not even considering to increase breeding rates or what? With upped XP, Taming and harvest, its already too much as it is, players don't tend to tame much these days unless its a coloured event, eventually players farming for stuff will cap their storage then have nothing left to do, so farming goes out the window, as for XP u can just hit extinction drops and hit levels like crazy even on x1 rates. So what's left? oh breeding for mutations. This game already takes up much of peoples life just on breeding alone. Mark my words all we are going to see is players log in once a week to reset building timers, its already the case right now, its only going to worsen and servers are going to become lonely. There is bosses but how many times are we going to do them before we get completely bored, and end up with throw away amounts of element. Please @StudioWildcard consider breeder to get some love too

  13. I believe raising the breeding / maturity rate will not cause excessive lag in the long run since people can raise more when it’s convenient for them.. they won’t have to jam the servers during a limited 1 week window trying to raise as much as they can cram in their nursery. I think a better plan would be to balance the times to make them more reasonable. Spending 10-14 days raising a dino that can be instantly lost when you accidentally step on a mesh hole or the genesis teleporter drops it under the map is not encouraging to new players.

  14. breeding increase aswell please guys, it made the ppl play the game, now its boring again

  15. maybe in the first few days because they all raise their collected babies. but since it remains permanent it will go back and not be that much at once. events will hopefully be less laggy too because not everyone collects again. at least that's what I think. ?‍♀️

  16. I'm on board with Selene and her suggestion as well, while I do get that this game is supposed to be a significant investment in time, for PvE at least, it would be nice if the breeding rates were also brought up. The biggest issue is, most of the players I know minus (1) who's a teenager, are working adults and have responsibilities that even with Covid, aren't able to put that much time in for the more time consuming breeding/raising. I can't even describe what kind of personal hell I put myself through when I pull my Gigas out to raise them, up for imprints at odd hours of the night for days in a row, it's a struggle mentally and physically to get through it, sometimes I get em fully done, sometimes I give up and take a few days off to sleep. It seems almost pointless sometimes, you put that kind of time into a dino and then something happens that instantly kills the dino, or you make a simple mistake and bam its dead. Hours wasted on raising em for what could turn into a 30 second death. Put that in the pot with anti-meshing killing dinos, dinos vanishing or falling through the map, unscrupulous griefing resulting in drown dinos, or the trough bug (which is still there), I just recently had 20 rexes die of starvation next to 6 full tek troughs and they were nearly all the way to adolescent. I hope you guys at Wildcard consider this change, I think this would alleviate quite a bit of stress in the players on Pve servers.

  17. Yesterday I finished imprinting my two newest Therizinos. Now have 11, not counting the two I use for breeding. Time was short yesterday and didn't get to do much else other than clean up and reorganize the base a bit between imprints. Made a couple runs for wood / metal / etc. and that was it. Today, I took out the two Theriz for some exercise and levels. I decided to walk from my main base on the NE corner of the Redwoods to my old base on the west coast of the island. I have a nice two-story house with a couple of separated buildings. The base sits atop the lower waterfall on the edge of the cliff, overlooking the ocean. I really like the location but would probably design the base differently if I built there again. Anyway, when I arrived there I looked to my south, toward the large, elevated point that has the big cliffs and the single tree on top. I love that place and almost built my base up there but decided against it because I didn't want to ruin the aesthetics of that beautiful spot. And I saw a fantastic looking bronto dancing amongst the rocks near that single tree. It was a solid color, very dark, very black from head to tail, but not dull. In fact, the skin looked completely shiny like it was covered in oil. So, curiosity got the best of me and I pulled out the old spy glass. It looked even better through the glass with the sun bouncing off its' greasy coat. It was a lvl 100. Not the highest level, but very respectable in a modest way. I have never tamed a bronto. I had seen bigger ones many times in my travels. But, for some reason I needed that one. And as many of you can attest... plans often change quickly when something you want steps into view. So, I went and made a bunch of tranq darts. grabbed a stack of tranq arrows from the cabinet just in case the darts ran out. Then I checked dododex for taming info and realized I didn't have much of the right kibble. I talked to myself for a minute, as I often do, and decided to just use crops since this was not going to be a game changing tame. However, I left the crops in the garden for now since they spoil so fast and I didn't know how long it would take to get this thing down. So I grabbed a stack of mejoberries to curb his apatite for the two minutes I would need to get back to base and pick the veggies. The berries were probably not necessary but I took them anyway. I grabbed a journeyman long neck from the cabinet, and hopped on one of my early-game tames I had sitting around. It was a mid-level argy. I felt prepared like a good boy scout and headed for Lone Tree Point (not sure if there is an official name for it but that is what I call it). I saw some dilos and a raptor a little uphill from the bronto and cleared the area with the argy. Then, I decided it would be best (and easier on me later) to have this thing knocked out on the beach below and not on the bluff where anything could step out of the trees. I had seen rexes up there before and even spinos and baryonix in the river above the waterfall. I didn't want to take the chance of this thing running toward the forest and falling near potential dangers. So I shot a tranq dart in its' butt and lured it over the cliff and onto the beach. Then I flew back to the top of the cliff and commenced firing. When it fell... it fell near the water and its' head was in just into the shallows. Naturally my heart stopped and I raced down to the beach, fearing it would drown as I have heard they can. Fortunately, the neck was propped up on a slight rise and the head was elevated slightly above the surface. Crisis averted. I tossed my berries into his inventory, ran back to the garden for the veggies, went back to the bronto, loaded him up... and sat... and waited. When he woke up. I named him Benjamin (like the 100 dollar bill). Happy day.

  19. Welcome to another edition of the Community Crunch! On Tuesday, August 25th, we will be releasing Crystal Isles for XBOX and PS4 console users! Additionally, we will be enabling full server transfers into Crystal Isles and our freshly launched Official PC Servers. From August 25th, PC players will be able to download items and creatures onto the map without restriction. Similar to PC, console users will have a period of time where item and creature downloads will be disabled. Official Rates Increase With the major update on Tuesday, August 25th, we'll be doubling the fun by doubling the Official Rates across PC, Xbox and PS4 as standard, along with some changes to our specialty servers. From the next major version, Official Server rates will now have increased default rates for Harvesting, Taming, and XP. What was previously ‘2x rates’ prior to today, will now become the new base rate (1x). The increased 2x rates will be implemented directly in the game build itself. This means that Non-Dedicated Servers, Single Player Sessions and of course Unofficial Servers will also feel the increased rates. Therefore, if you’re currently using customized rates, it’s something you will want to keep in mind before this change is in place -- specifically upon the release of the next Major Version on each of your respective platforms, you may wish to reduce your server/game rates by 50% to have the same effective values as before. Official rates will be adjusted accordingly: Standard Official Servers: 1x harvesting, taming, and XP (which is equivalent to 2x when considering our old values) Small Tribes Servers: Smalls will have their taming, harvesting, and XP changed to 2.5x (which is equivalent to 5x when considering our old values) Apocalypse Servers: These will remain at 3x harvesting, taming, and XP (which is equivalent to 6x when considering our old values) EVO Event As mentioned in prior Community Crunches, the Official Network rates will be increasing to 2X following the next major version update on Tuesday, August 25th. Following the update, we'll have more information on EVO events. Until then, we'll be using the EVO event system to apply the bonuses. ARK Sales! Summer isn't over yet!
