  1. I had my hardest taming experience ever this morning: dunkleosteus. I did all the research beforehand. Watched youtube videos claiming how easy it is and tested on single player using admin commands. Practised building the taming pen. Ok good to go. I grabbed 400 tranq arrow, 5 crossbows 20 Lazarus Chowder (Im mid level so no scuba gear) and went to look for mutton. Found some in the Highlands and put the meat in the fridge. Easy. Time spent: 30min I jumped on my Ichty and started looking for dunkies. After an hour of searching, I had located 5 dunkies, all below level 60. Then finally found a 145 male. Time spent: 1h30min I proceeded to build a taming pen using pillarsand a gate at the bottom of the ocean. Then I tried to get its attention. Shooting arrows didn't work. Biting its ass didn't work. Rare flowers didn't work. It just kept on swimming. There were some low level females that did aggro and pretty easily. I decided to ditch the taming pen and tranq it out in the open. Bad idea! Eels kept messing things up. All the megalodons in the ocean seemed to want to take a bite of me. Every time I ran out of oxygen, I had a hard time finding the dunky again. I almost died of hunger and hypothermia because the deep ocean is freezing and I consumed tons of food all the time. Then finally it falls! 380 tranq arrows spent 4 crossbows used 17 Lazarus Chowder used Sweat and tears. Time spent: 2h30min Total time overall: 4h30min to tame a simple pixel fish in a computer game. Was it worth it? It remains to be seen. I froze the dunky and hid it because I dont want some trigger happy griefer to kill it on the first day. What will happen most likely? Someone raids my base while I am at work and all this effort went to waste. Oh the joys of official pvp ark. But at least I did it.

  2. Pleas fix mating issues!!! What is the point do give us breeding boost if half of dinos can't lay eggs or if eggs are not incubating.

  3. Since this post is now unhidden, I'll change it into a description of events that followed the previous one. So. My wish about baby tek rexes getting Tillas and Ellas respective mutations? Came true! And so did my wish for them to be different genders: Tillas egg hatched into twin males (only kept one, as I only need one), Ellas - into a female. So instead of breeding them with Jotunn repeatedly I just have to raise the babies from the first attempt, get a male baby that inherits all the right stats, and just like that my tek rexes will be upgraded. Now that Tilla, Ella and Jotunn are no longer needed, I froze them (no need to kill them - effort went into the girls, and they're named dinos! I don't kill those unless they're really crappy and I desperately need the space, and that's not the case). Also, tamed a female Ember Crystal (level 90 pre-tame, okay melee, sorta acceptable health, the rest of stats, to be honest, aren't great) and transferred her to Valguero. Named her Topaz because she is very yellow, but I'm not naming a giant fire-breathing lizard "Lemon" or "Banana". It's unlikely that I'll breed them (the primal crystal thing and all... Ehh. Maybe if I ever tame a daeodon), but decided that it never hurts to have a pair for my breedables even if I got no plans for them.

  4. Today I decided to once again try tho tame a quetz. After all, now I can aim better and shoot for longer since instead of parachutin'&shootin' I can comfortable and more-or-less steadily stand on Wildfire's back. I took enough (IF I shoot relatively well. Unfortunately, my aim isn't that great) darts and narcotics, grabbed all the exceptional kibble I have (bit over 30. Won't get me anything great, but I'm fine with just something usable), some parachutes, some dodo eggs for snack, and my 203% longneck. SO I searched for a bit, saw a 145 giga and same level alpha rex, and in the end found a level 15 male quetz. Perfect, a level that low actually has a chance of getting tamed before one or both of the level 145 menaces find us. I shoot, and shoot, and shoot. Hit about 6 times. Ran out of darts. Quetz is literally one dart short of being knocked out, at least if Dododex' info is correct. Back to the base I go. More darts are made, and this time I also grabbed some tranq arrows and a 180-something% crossbow. Then back to the quetz. The rex and giga, apparently, were dealt with while I was away. Great! I find the quetz again, shoot-shoot-shoot, you know how it goes. And then it's finally knocked out! Falls in water. Drowns. Damn. Also, finished raising my hope of getting my rexes right. I'm talking about the second health-first melee mutated female duo. I named the health one Ella and the melee one Tilla. Already mated them to my old, non-mutated breeding male Jotunn. Hope the offspring inherits Ella and Tilla's stats. Also hope that one would be male, and another - female, to quicker get both health mutations and the melee one onto one, hopefully male dino.

  6. It was called Summer Bash last year, which means it hasn't been called 4th July event for at least 2 years now. Also, this is a much longer event that spans a much wider length of time than 4th July. Rather than make a fuss about it just be happy, because there's been absolutely NO signs that anyone in this community cried about it being 4th July before, therefore that means that YOU are the only one that crying over the situation, a situation that didn't exist in the first place.

  8. Given the situation in the US, and the rest of the world right now, we will be rescheduling the ARK in-game celebration until Thursday, June 11. We understand that our community has much anticipated the ARK in-game party and the launch of Crystal Isles, and we're looking forward to sharing all we have prepared for you next week. We felt it would be inappropriate to celebrate milestones during the present time as there are bigger things afoot, and that outweighs any plans we otherwise had. We believe now is the time to be respectful and hear the voices of others. Studio Wildcard
