Huge, huge win today. I know I said I wasn't necessarily up to playing much this week, but I wanted to paint my redwoods manor. I figured while I was over there I would run the swamp cave, then paint. Well...two cave runs in and I finally, finally got an ascendant rex saddle blueprint! A month of constantly searching for one, running this cave and popping every red drop I could find on The Island, and mass slaughtering hundreds of penguins to repair my arthro'd armor. It all finally paid off. Now, there is a slight downside to this blueprint--I have loot quality turned up precisely because I didn't want to spend so much time farming. So it's a 202 armor saddle, which is great! Except it's stupid expensive. But, that's where the grinder comes in. All the junk saddles and armor I've been picking up has just been collecting in my grinder. Smashed them all up and actually got enough mats back to make 5 saddles. I could make 4 just from the mats I had in base on top of that, plus the 2 saddles I found last week. I went on a giant metal run, then took my theri around shredding all the vegetation we could get our ticklers on. And luckily I had the foresight to save every bit of hide starting from day 1. Just waiting for the metal to smelt down and have been crafting more saddles as we go. Just 3 left to go! That said, I'm not going to start running bosses until the weekend. I'll spent the rest of the week doing some prep work. I've only done maybe 3 boss fights ever, never solo, and sp has some limitations that online play does not. So I'll be setting up small feeding/respawn posts at each obelisk since you have to actually go to the corresponding ones in single player. Plus now that I have otters I can go farm the rest of the artifacts I need, going to start with Broodmother of course. I plan on getting 4 more of each artifact; 1 for each difficulty level, 1 in case of a fail, and the set I already have for display purposes. My otter can carry that many so it should be pretty easy. Assuming I don't get lost in the stupid lava cave again, man it is so easy to get turned around in there. I'll also start looking around for a female allo, level doesn't matter, just to start breeding for the snow cave, and I still need to find a pair of good basilos to breed for the underwater caves. Aside from that and getting my gear together, I'm basically ready to start the Ascension process! Also I feel like I need a name for my baryonyx. He's been so critical to this entire process and he doesn't even have a name yet. Bred, fully imprinted, not mutated, and we've been through so, so much together. I just honestly have no idea what to call him. Rejected the names Dweller and Fisher already, and Mini Spino is the common nickname I use for dimetrodons. But if any of my animals deserves a name, it's this bary for sure. I'll think on it, I still need to bring him back to base and breed him as I never did get a perfect pair with his stats. Still can't believe I finally got the blueprint and can start progressing at long last. In game it's like day 184 or something silly, just insane to think about how much time has gone into this and thus far so little to show for it.6 points

1.Your acting entitled and immature and the proof is with how your trash talking console players Guess what, I bet PC players would "whine" too if it got delayed for them so don't act like their the problem. As a matter of fact they are as proof by you. Anyone would be upset so don't act like the entire situation revolves around you. 2.Some people are poor and don't have the money and struggle on a daily basis just to get by. So saying "they should stop whining and buy a PC" is pretty damn rude considering you don't know their life and they don't know yours. 3.Even if they did release it early guess what? People would still complain because of bugs so either way there would have been upset people. 4.Guess what they postpone every expansion pack so I don't exactly know why your surprised. And I can understand your son would be reasonably upset but no need to take out your frustration on people who did nothing, whining about it won't fix it.3 points

I understand the frustration but its better for the players if we have a little more time to polish this up. Releasing early just means we'd potentially be plagued with things we'd have to fix after the fact. I think your son is going to have a great time in the Winter Wonderland event!2 points

They wouldn't say Fear Evolved rates if there were no increase in rates at all because then there would be no need to state "rates". Like I said, all you need is a bit of commonsense to understand this.2 points

34 Ptera eggs hatched... no keepers, no muts. Raised Barys to 10% and left the Saber over night, hope he had enough food. Forgot he was there haha Other than that, gathered metal, CP and just made sure the base was ready for the bats - Velonasaurs everywhere2 points

Greetings Survivors! Zen Rowe here; for anyone that doesn’t know, I am the Mod Community Manager here at Studio Wildcard. We’re starting a new segment where we will look at the mod authors and the projects that can add so much extra life to a game. Today we’re going to be talking to Garuga123! Why don't you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about the project you are sponsored for. That's amazing, We don't have too many creators in the community that create new creature assets. If you don't mind me asking, could you tell us a bit about your background? What do you do outside of modding? Wow, so your background ties pretty heavily into what you do for your mods. It's always interesting to see how our history can impact our creations. Monster Hunter is a great game to take inspiration from as well. For anyone that wants to find you, do you have any social media channels that you are active in? That is fantastic, being able to see someone's workflow in action is an incredibly useful resource for new mod authors that might not be familiar with the particular medium they are trying to tackle. On top of that, attempting to stream while you work is incredibly difficult, there is so much trying to draw your attention. That's impressive. What originally brought you to start modding for the first time? Was it for ARK or for another game? Yeah, it's unfortunate, I know that a lot of people like seeing their favorite characters from TV and other games popping up in the world, but unfortunately that is an ever-present risk to such creations. Mods that use that content will probably get taken down at some point and copyright law is a messy thing that I don't recommend getting pulled into. I am glad that the experience did not discourage you from continuing! Let's switch gears for a moment because I'd like to talk about your creations. In particular, I'd like to look at my favorite one, the Brachiosaurus. (Credit to @UpFromTheDepths for this video) This thing is fantastic. When you showed me some videos of the working creature in development, I was awestruck. The first time I saw it rear up I was thinking "What is it going to do? Is it afraid? Is it going to fall over? Will it do a trick?", and then those legs came crashing down and it was a great moment of suspense in the design of the creature. The taming mechanic was a fantastic touch as well. Can you give me a bit of a high-level rundown on your process for creating a creature like this? Would you say you managed to capture your original vision for what these creatures would be? Did you have to make any compromises along the way? I think that's a great way to approach adding new creatures. And yours blend so well with the core game that if I didn't know better I would have a hard time identifying that they weren't. Since I've got you here... do you have any super-secret content that you are working on that you would be willing to reveal for us? That does sound interesting! Aside from balance, are there any other significant challenges you expect to face when creating it? I look forward to seeing what you manage to create with this idea! To wrap up, is there any advice you would like to give to any new mod authors that would like to make new creatures? Sound advice for anyone interested in making mods for ARK! Why does everyone think it’s Tek??? You can see netting, wood outer parts along the outer edge, plank walking areas the main walk... floatation buoys. its a floating water platform! Or a dock! And made of wood... zoom in before you have a fit kids...1 point

These mysterys. "Oh look here is a low resolution blob. Try to guess what it is, just so you get yourself hyped about our game" I am done with these mysterys. Evey stinking one has been more Tek looking junk. Yes I love my Tek suit, but all this Tek crap is frustrating. I think the Tek gravity grenades were a sign that all "Tek" stuff is not worth the element. Please don't give us anymore blurry images of stuff. Just give us a few details.1 point

It's hard to get hyped over these random mysteries. I'd much rather creature previews than items and structures. I just don't know what to make of this DLC so far and that scares me. Another video teaser or a proper trailer would be awesome.1 point

Why no 2x i understand theres an event but official rates are abit of a joke as it is, can we not just have a weekend to tame coloured stuff abit faster? Im going on the fact that previously events havent had boosted rates and the 2x was cancelled, if its 2x anyway then thank you1 point

I'm back from a couple of years break from ARK and finding some interesting additions that I want to try out. Like the cryopods. I've yet to try them, but they are next on my list of stuff to make. Last time I built a huge pen for my dinos with a roof over it was on Scorched Earth. On that map, with so many hostile creatures, a roof was the best option. I did it with ceilings and pillars. You don't say if you are on official or unofficial server. If official, I would recommend protecting those pillars from griefiers that could lead a dino into the base and under it to attack it. I placed metal pillars around the base to prevent this. Also I think dinos still occasionally fall through a ceiling and pillar floor system, so be sure to plan on a way to get any dino out from under your pen. For the breeding, the air conditioners do work better than campfires. A common technique that I've seen is to place them down and then build one level up ceilings over them and have a ramp to go up there. The egg then is placed of the ceiling with the air conditioners under it. Once again, have a entrance to go under and get to the air conditioners should you need to change or fix anything or get something that gets down there somehow.1 point

To poor for a PC but they can afford a console? The price of a PS4 pro right now is 399! I built my son a PC that he plays ark high graphics setting on for 380 so what say you about that? It also runs farcry5 on high setting. So it is a choice they make and not because they can't afford a PC. Plenty of YouTube channel show how to build a PC more powerful then a console for the same price. And yes you are right I should have known it would be postponed every one has since early development.0 points

I mean, I've had a giga spawn in my base before. The GM's are awesome and do what they can. Did it suck? Yeah Was it awful to wake up to first thing in the morning when I logged in? Yeah. Buuuut, this is Player vs Environment. One should never be too relaxed in a survival game. If you're not a little afraid of the game, where's the fun? And before you ask, I lost a lot of event dinos that the GM's are unable to replace do to the limitations of what they can do, so yeah it did really suck a bit, but the community on my server was awesome and gave me babies to replace what I had lost. The funny thing is ultimately I gained more than I had lost (and that giga was a 140 alphaboosted, with the alpha raptor hidden just outside the doors) and have hilarious memories. I was here for the first Fear Evolved. It was an amazingly fun time. I hope this is just like it. Edit: It was the one time I was really sad I'd called passive to the babies when they hatched, as they just stood in place like little appetizers for the giga to gnom gnom on, instead of running in righteous terror. XD0 points
