  1. @caleb68 When I was a tribe leader I did the same thing all the time. Long after my tribe had all logged off I would still be on, organizing, cleaning up, restocking mats, etc. Not quite for 16 hours, but probably a good hour or so every night. I don't think anyone ever noticed, but I knew. I miss playing with my friends, but I don't miss the responsibility lol. Some huge, huge progress last night. Having done a little more research, I started out my day with confidence. I built a really basic apex taming pen, loaded up my argent, and flew out to carno island. I set up the pen in the shallows on the safe side. I actually have a high level icthy there, I keep forgetting to make a saddle. It was just chilling the last time I was taming rexes, so I tamed it too. I still have 3 rexes stationed there also, 2 males and the precious female who made my actual breeding line possible. My plan was to raid drops and farm rexes at the same time, since I can do that here. But it's Ark, plans rarely survive the bird landing. Because on a whim I scouted the nearby argents, and the first one my spyglass touched had 41 wild points in melee. Well then. My pen didn't have a roof, but I successfully kited and dropped that bird right where I wanted her, in front of my temporary bed/respawn point well away from the pen. She stood up with an impressive 53 points, surpassing my previous base by 9 whole points. Not wanting to take any risks, I took the opportunity to fly her all the way back to the safety of my base. I returned to an island transformed. Since much of carno island was in render, naturally a lot of animals died and respawned when I came back. I almost immediately spotted not 1, but 2 level 150 female rexes. The celebrations were cut somewhat short by their traveling companions--I counted no less than 5 alphas, including a 135 rex. Even if I brought my best rex across, there was no way I'd be killing that thing. It seems Ark had decided to cancel my plans for me. But, without risk there is no victory, in Ark or life. We boldly flew in on one of the 150 rexes when it wandered away from its alpha mommy and draw her aggro, leading her across the island and straight into my new trap. She was the uglier of the two, with 31 points in HP that I sorely needed to gamble on. Got her down without trouble and waited patiently-impatiently for the tame. Success! She stood up with 41 points in HP, just over 10k base. Perfect! But you might be wondering, how am I going to get her home without cryopods, and on single player where you can't use supply drops to upload and even if you could, there's an alpha rex camping the drops? Easy! The other rexes are still there because I didn't. I take advantage of my higher single player settings. I bred 3 eggs from the new female and one of the trash males, they're just sacrificial here anyway, I use them to clear the island because raptor pounce is a thing. Then I flew home, got the the new argent breeding, and got my eggs into the hatchery. The first egg popped out exactly what I needed, a female with my 10k base HP. The other two eggs were trash. I also almost immediately popped a 4-stat bird with my new melee, breeding with my clean, high stat bred male. I spent the rest of the night around the base, popping eggs and waiting for my babies to grow. It was getting a bit late now however, and I was sleepy. The argent grew up so I replaced her mom and started the next breeding cycle anew. The rex is 75% grown and will finish within the next hour of play. All in all, a very happy night. Shame about all those alphas though, I won't be able to clear that area for a long, long time. A next gen battle bird could, but not without the high armor saddle I don't have. The rexes I have on carno island wouldn't last 2 minutes against such a behemoth, especially with 2 alpha raptors and 2 alpha carnos in the immediate area as well. Plus a 3rd carno some distance away. I have never seen so many on this island at once, it's insane. Going to be great for exp, if I ever get a saddle worth a beaver. Obviously my next goal is to continue breeding my argent and rex lines. I believe I can go ahead and start building a rex army now, with my base stats being 41 HP and 38 melee, clean and unmutated. As long as I get decent saddles, I should be able to take on gamma and possibly even beta bosses. I plan to simply breed the full 19 rexes, keep any mutations aside to start stacking, and then I'll simply replace the ones that die with next gen rexes as I progress. I'll name them by gen too, it'll be interesting to observe how long the older ones survive. Assuming I don't immediately wipe to something lol. Still need an otter for artifact collecting. I have my bary for caves, but I should probably breed a backup just in case. My bary is actually my only tamed with an actually good saddle, he has a mc on but I have a bp for an asc one that I haven't gotten around to making yet. And I still need to make that asc longneck too. Busy, busy. But a happy busy.

  3. Since you seem to know how to fix the game why dont you go work for WC instead of blabbering nonsense about stuff you have no idea.

  4. I believe a few people said this before..... Everyone keeps on complaining about the bugs and lag and exploits. YET we are still playing!!!!!!! Even with all the things going on. But WC can't fix everything in one day at the end of the day they aren't Robots they cant sit 24/7 working.

  5. That's because most of the problems were related to PVP. That's why they gave us cool dinos then nerfed them so bad they are useless. Then they made cool mechanics to play with, and nerfed them.

  6. I do remember extinction, I didn't notice anything that different or bad happen(probably cause I play singleplayer). As for it being only fun when it first releases, that's your opinion, not mine. And since when is new content bad for a game?

  7. 1: Would you rather them say: "Rule breaking has increased and we are not going to do anything about it."? 2: Nothings wrong with the UI. As for the other stuff, that would be nice(save for the hard drive, that's your problem), but don't you think they've heard that enough? If "fixing there game" was able to be done with the snap of there fingers, they would do it. But unfortunately, its just not that simple. 3: If your lagging, you need a better PC. Also, I care, along with a lot of other people. 4: So I assume that you personally have played all 100,000 games, and have found out that 99,999 of them have PERFECT language translation, without a single misspelled word? with that being said, THIS TEASER LOOKS SOOO COOL THANK YOU WILDCARD FOR BEING AWESOME!(not a joke)

  11. I logged in, bred some Pteras, renamed a lot of them by their colours and getting ready to start podding literally hundreds of dinos. Im annoyed that they lose their folders when podded as I wont know which have stats I want but I guess Ill think of a way round it at a later date. After trying to feed close to the limit of dinos weekly, I have spoken to my tribemate and we will take 2 hrs out of busy gaming lives to have a mass clear down so rather than spending hrs meat, berry and fish collecting, it will be a quick run and all done method. ARK is a grind to play even at the best of times, it is still a grind even when trying to take a break. Lots of fuel and element so our kibbles and dinos 'should' be ok Ive a few games I want to go back to and see where they got to, 7 days to die amongst others so I need to put ARK in a cryo freeze state.

  12. It has been a while since I have commented on one of the Community Crunch threads, but after reading the comments I feel as though I should. If for nothing else then to say Thanks to the Wildcard team. ? I know the game has issues, I know that new content tends to to come with some fun and some terror, and I know that official networks most certainly have issues that those of us on unofficially simply deal with differently - and as such, some of us may not be as bothered by some by them. But in the end of the day, issues or not, I still play it. I still pay a monthly sum so that a group of people can play it together. And I will still do my own version of fixes every time the game updates and something is broken, to keep the core of it alive and the players as happy as I can. And I will continue to do so and will enjoy the new content as it arrives - problems or not- until the day that ARK 2 arrives or content finally stops presenting itself to us. So thank you Wildcard for a game I spend more time than I should playing. I fully enjoy it, as do others in my cluster, and we cannot wait to hear what else may be coming our way. ?

  13. I mean, technically speaking, ARK (and many, if not most) large video games and phone games essentially are skinner boxes designed to convince our still very animal brains into logical fallacies that convince us to continue investing more time into things, and are in general pretty addictive. Like, how many people in PVP still play because they have so much time invested already? Or how many PVE players feed their bases for months after they stopped really playing because the thought of losing all that work that they spent real life hours achieving? It's sunk-cost fallacy exploited really. And again, don't misunderstand. I also play the game. I knowingly see the hooks game developers use to keep people invested, and participate anyway. My point here is that there are a lot of complicated factors at play that go far beyond "people still play so it MUST be good". Please don't try to derail valid complaints with a disingenuous argument. Most of us don't really believe that the game can be fixed in a day. What frustrates people is that there are a ton of very very old bugs in it that were there in Early Access. Being able to brute-force simple 4 digit pincodes. Being able to brute force into tribes (although I think this new method was different than the old, but I do not know the details so I cannot speak much to it) is a really old bug that they fixed and then showed back up again. Buggy post-processing in the Aberration glowing water that kills pc performance if the video card post processing is set to above anything beyond medium. Rubber banding. Save lag. Save laaaaaaag. And what's the point of having an invasive Warden system like Batleye if it does nothing to stop 3rd party programs, aim bots, etc? Add that to the new ones. I get that exploit-fixing is a game of cat and mouse, and I feel like the developers never really anticipated how popular this game was. I feel like their gambit to split the company and dev team in half (one stayed on with ARK and one went to ATLAS) isn't paying off, as they don't have enough manpower to properly oversee a game that is still more popular than they expected it would be at this stage in its life, and I think this is unfortunate. The game, especially the PVP aspect of it, is literally on fire at the moment. It's a complicated problem with many factors, but much of it has to do with the fact that they are a small team, and that many core bugs weren't fixed early in the game development. And some of the things can't be reasonably fixed ever because of technical programming limitations that I don't entirely understand. So now they're literally doing triage every day on every platform trying to save the PVP side of things. I mean, I've said it before and I'll say it again: I would gladly pay a subscription fee if it meant the company would have the resources to fix performance and bugs and have meaningful support in a reasonable amount of time. Edit: I define "reasonable amount of time" as 2-3 months instead of 2-4 years.

  14. It wasn't nearly as bad as you make it out. Sure there were some initial issues but it was completely playable, especially depending on where you built. Plenty of people are excited for new content and are NOT AFFECTED by the current issues. Some of us DON"T CARE about the official servers because we run our own, and police them way better than WC. In fact most of the Ark community is on unofficial servers and more specifically PVE unofficial servers. The balance/issues you are discussing are largely unnoticed for the majority of the players. I would much prefer that they work on delivering content as well as fixes because without new content the game gets boring. There is a whole section of the community that you are ignoring that has been begging for new content, especially the console side.

  19. Many people know how to fix the game, its about priorities. Wildcard would not want to hire problem solvers, because they want to make content, content content, not fix things, its their idiology. Even if i would present myself as a QOL/programmer/problemsolver they would just not hire me or anyone like that. I am a modder for about 20 years, and make mods for ARK, and i know a hell lot about how games and companies work, and how they have their priorities....dont you tell me i have no idea
    1 point
  20. Well yeah, but you know whats wrong with this right? Wildcard prioritises content over quality. Don't tell me they do everthingin their power to prioritise a stable game? They are well aware of the state, and bugs, as they have fixed some of them after 4 years. As being a modder myself, i know its much more fun to push content, and challenge yourself than "FIXING BUGS..ugh..". But im modding for fun, i do not get payed, but still feel responsible for my fans of my content, and I will apologise. Wildcard on the other hand..... Yes I do love more content, but the more love for new content there is, the easier it is for them to make more moooore mooooooooaaaarrrr yaaasss moneeeey yaass!!! The worse the stability becomes of the game. I have complained a LOT about QOL, and despite ppl hated me for that, many features were implemented because of that. (I pushed "disable ally looking", and map markers"). If i would praise them for content, they would NOT HAVE BOTHERED, because new content is more fun than making the game pleasant to play. But I assume, kids would like content over quality, as they get more easily pleased, they would be fine with 5 fps, they dont know poop about anything. As you grow older you understand, how marketing and companies work, and realise its sometimes good to be critical to make a change. I KNOW they will get content out ANYWAY, so complimenting them, doesnt matter, they will do it anyway.

  22. PS4 - UNofficial Cluster - Abberration Last night the new cluster put the Abberration map online, so after I took a few minutes to destroy the now unneeded Reaper traps and buildings in near the Valguerro Radiation zone; my Reaper buddy "Texas" and I went over to ABB and got started. We only transferred over a few things, but I did bring a Reaper over from Valguerro, 1 tek suit, and a pre-made stone starter base. I set up the temp base right on the edge of the green zone and the blue zone, along side the river. I had to battle a few Spinos and Karks at first but was able get my temp base made. Texas built not to far away, and after Texas tamed spino and a couple raptors; we grabbed a couple bulbdogs (I saw a trike get knocked out by a scorpion, so I tamed it.) We then decended into the Blue zone on our way to Radiation zone. Texas has his main Abberration base in this area on the old cluster, so he know this area like the back of his hand. I still get lost, so I followed him closely. We built a small taming trap, and two small birthing huts right on the safe edge next to the radiation zone. We then headed in to find a Reaper Queen. The first one we saw was a level 35, but it immediately popped up a better sister at level 280 (max level is 351) So he carefully killed the low level, and then kited the high level into the trap. She was a bit feisty, and not really in the mood, but eventually she got us both pregnant. The spot we built in is very, very dark, so we will need to build a better trap that includes regular lights, so we can see what we are doing. (i'm pretty sure regular lights don't hurt Reapers) Finally the babies popped, but sadly were just black with orange trim. (The cluster owner took my suggestion, and is running the Chronicles 5 color event to start with!) Texas needed to raise the baby, since his Spino was getting major torpor damage from the Queen. So while he did this, I headed back out on my transferred Reaper to find another Queen as we hoped for an event color baby. Since we each only had 1 Tek suit, we had to be very careful, as not to break them in the radiation zone. After a time, I found a level 268 queen, and we finally made it back to the trap. We both managed to get impregnated in between fighting off the nameless, seekers and other riffraff trying to spoil our fun. Bummer, but those two babies popped out vanilla with the black and tan trim. By this point it was past midnight, and I needed to get to bed. So in between his imprints on the first baby reaper, Texas guided me back up to my temp base in green zone. Because the server is brand new, there are bound to be some setting adjustments and re-starts. So neither of us is planning on building a permanent base for another week or so, but will lay down some temp bases to claim our desired locations. We were the only 2 on the new map last night besides the admin/owner, so I don't think there will be too much competition, at least in the near future. Making Teleporters cost 10k ingot, 10k element, plus other resources, so it will be quite some time before I have a couple teleporters, but my goal is to have my main map base in a large flat space on the Green zone, and then have a TP to travel to my smaller birthing and trap base in the blue zone near the radiation. Eventually I would like to try @AngrySaltire, @d1nk teleporter/reaper trap idea, but that is much farther down the road. Going forward I think I will focus on getting Reaper kings (hopefully event colored) as well as some glow pets. I did get an event Featherlight and Shinehorn on the way back to my base last night. Then next week, I will probably start on building my permanent 2 bases on Abberration. (Tribes are limited to 2 bases per map) Because of this rule, and our fondness foe breeding for color mutation, my buddies (Texas, California & Indiana) are all in our own tribes, but we alliance up at least. Excited yet scared to play more Abberration, as I just get so confused on that map. It doesn't help that my map returns to default every time I log out, so I can't use way points.

  24. You guys know how Microsoft has been buying studios lately? Like low budget studios with moderately successful indie games? I really, really hope Microsoft buys Wildcard. The passion at the studio is totally there, they all clearly want to make the game the best it can be. It just seems like they don't have enough manpower or funding right now to do what we all want, UI overhaul, bug fixes, and performance fixes. If Microsoft were to buy Wildcard, the game could get so much better with that kind of support. From what I've seen as well, Microsoft doesn't really meddle with the projects too much, they just support them This game could truly return to the top if a move like that happens.

  26. I agree, and they should not ignore players who misuse/misplay the game. We have a base on our server with at least 50 jerboas of all colors hidden in a corner of the map. They are trying to build where no one goes to avoid being caught. They know they are doing wrong. WC does need to take a step back and solidify the game and make it flow better before it goes the way of Fall-Out 76.

  28. So I'm spoiled. I use my PC as my main work device, and I use a lot of intensive 2d and 3d rendering programs with very large file sizes and computer demands. I have 3 monitors, a tablet, and a very powerful rig, including a 2080 RTX, 64GB ram, and a solid processor. I still get graphical lag when somebody plants their base within render of mine. I still get graphical lag because the introduction of triangle structures (a neat thing) encourages many many tiny components, and they did not give us large ceilings/foundations to compensate, or a way to link many small structures into contiguous single units that load faster and are less stressful to the server in general. If there are more than 250 dinos on my screen (a breeding farm), my system chops. If there are 150 small complicated dinos (looking at you, light pets/aberrant glowy things/ deinonychuses) on my screen, it turns into a powerpoint slide show. I don't even have my graphics maxed in ARK because of this, so it's not like I'm running everything on epic. Now I love ark. I have more hours in it than I should, but it is not even remotely optimized. But I'm also willing to point out that it is not a perfect game and has a lot of problems. So I'm either lagging because of their net code is inefficient, or their graphical engine is inefficient, or somewhere in between, but I have bleeding edge hardware, so it's not my box. Please don't use the "stahp using a potatoe" argument to try to invalidate justified complaints.

  29. I do really really wish they'd at least give us a font pack that had all the characters from their more popular non english languages. Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic, and Arabic. At least then I wouldn't have to use a font pack that doesn't format correctly keeping me from seeing certain things, and at least I could conveniently use google translate.

  30. Just a tip for Wildcard; disable PVP altogether and expand Ark around PVE, with a war mechanic where both tribes need to accept. PVP brings out the worst in people and by banning it, you'll get rid of a huge toxic swell in the community. PVE has its toxicity too, but with PVP gone, it should start to self-regulate.

  31. It is a Gas Moth, It is the evolutionary upgrade to the Gas Bag. When put into an element chamber and filled with element dust the Gas Bag forms a cocoon. This cocoon will take the wild levels and keep them in tact and redistribute the wild levels from movement speed and during its maturation period it will consume element dust and berries.

  32. Yes they are buisy......working on NEW CONTENT, there are TONS of old bugs, glitches, etc. etc. that still exist since 2015, that can EASILY be changed and fixed. But they do NOT CARE. Yes they are buisy, but only on new content, which is easily done, and guess what the more they add on top of the current game, the harder it will get to dig out of what causes bugs and performance issues. The less you have the easier it is to overlook performance, lag, balance issues etc., all Wc does is add add add add, and not check if their current content actually works properly enough. They COPY+PASTE existing creatures, and change the design, and thats why you get bugged creatures because they DID NO FIX THE OLD ONES!

  33. Why is it, that every community crunch is so short nowadays? Something that would make the crunch so much better were if you asked relevant players what they think on the Official situation. Your view of fixing things and moving on doesn’t work. We need a full Official PvP wipe when your inplementations are done. Nearly every relevant mega tribe has cheaters today. Not only exploiters, but Aimbotters and third party tool users in general. There is even hackers on Official PVE opening locked doors and containers using third party tools and exploits. Will you at WC ever realize that the Official servers, including off projects like aimbotting infested Classic PvP need an active policing support that checks the most populated servers during wars and such? I mean, I doubt you really understand how bad it is now. Skip words, act instead. What happens now has gone on since Legacy. Time for Legacy 2.0 for PVP!

Oh and Wildcard cannot seem to fix [][][][][][] [][][] [][][], yeah maximum effort.... 100.000 video games, only ONE in existence ever that has language issues, this must be rocketscience, or Wildcard does not give any poop about us....I don't know. 35. I did not know that you could fill crop plots "manually", I just wait for rain. I might try that to speed up the process when my plots are dry. Thanks for the info. I took my raft out in the lake where all the Pelas are flying, but none landed. Maybe I just need to keep it still for a while. I have had Pteras land on my raft before. They always wait until I am not prepared to capture them. ? I tamed a level-15 Ptera last night (I did not feel like waiting for 5 hours for a level 150) and I will be boosting its weight and stamina to use it for exploring. I will have to be careful not to land in hazardous areas since it will be fragile. When I get enough regular kibble, I will go for a high-level one (or maybe a Pelagornis for variety).
    1 point
  36. FYI you can fill crop plots from water skins or jars, and pteras and pelas will both land on your raft, esp. when you've got a good flat spot and are standing up there. You used to be able to bola and knock out pelas right on the water and tame them there (they floated) , but sharks generally made that a bad option. But you could probably build a cage off of your raft and just drive it right around one though.

  37. Good for you for being so positive! You do realise that new content will be bad for the game and be only fun when it first releases, and hypes? Do you even remember Extinction, how it BROKE the game, features, creatures, etc. etc. people lost characters, bases, etc. because the dome was broken? This is typical Wildcard, get content out, break the game. You don't realise what consequenses this has for the game, and its community? Just wondering, as you praise Wildcard for putting visuals above stability and balance....
