  1. Finally, the Linux version of ARK client was updated and for the last couple of days I have been trying to build a safe place in PvP Valguero. I estimate 20-30 deaths per day, but now I can find my way back to my stronghold blindfolded from any spawn point. I discovered that you can drop any amount of distance into water as long as you miss rocks. About half my paths back home included diving off of the White Cliffs. I built a 1x1x1 stone cube in which to respawn, but I died before I could build a bed for it. The rest of the day was spent respawning and trying to make it back to my cube. I gave up on day 2 and cowered in place for a while. There are a lot of box canyons in the White Cliffs and some are narrow enough to build a wall across them with only a few walls. There were some rocks at the back of the canyon in which I was cowering behind which to hide and none of the carnivores seemed to wander too close. I built a foundation , a bed, and a storage box behind the rocks and called it my hideaway. I spent the rest of day 2 gathering resources for my walls. I would peek out from behind the rocks. If the Allosaurs, Raptors, and Dienonychus (ARD) were far enough away, I would run like mad for a tree or rock, gather some resources, and return. I would deposit everything in the box and run out again. If ARD caught me while I was out, I was only down a pick and a hatchet. I decided to use stone fence supports to make the fence level. While I was putting up the last few fence supports, an Anky wandered into my area and so I just trapped him in there. I will tame him later and he is not really bothering anything. I built a stone dino gate and built up two rows of stone walls. At last I had some breathing room. I built a forge and am still working on getting the resources for a smithy so that i can use the metal that I have gathered along with the rocks and flint. An Allo came over my two-high wall, but he just chewed on my trapped Anky and then left without bothering me. I really need the third and fourth course of rock to keep out bigger dinos. I wonder how high Dienonys can jump? Wild dinos keep falling off the cliff above my base into my base. Fortunately, they have all been nonagressive herbivores, but I am not set up yet to keep them after taming. They all seem to despawn in a few game days except for the original Anky which has been around for a couple of real days so far. I should be able to use this to safely tame a few dinos without having to guard them outside. I have had the following drop into my base: Sheep, horses, lots of kangaroos, and an armadillo. The next canyon over is walled off with a giant dino gate and I have not seen any movement from them since I got here a few days ago. I do not know if they are AWOL or just infrequent. I hope they do not take offense to my closeness and trash my base. Although I have defenses against dinos, people can get in easily by going up a little trail and jumping. The thing that I like the most about Valguero is that everyone is so busy trying to survive the tremendously aggressive and numerous carnivores that there is hardly any time to snipe each other or destroy bases. Ironically after I started wandering a bit further from my base as I gained confidence, I discovered thay my original 1x1x1 stone cube was almost in sight from my dino gate. I had almost made it home before I gave up, but it resulted in a much better home.

  2. Extinction, Singleplayer, PS4 Built a greenhouse and started growing veggies. Made a trip to the sunken forest to tame Gachas. 2 of the 3 I tamed produce oil, so my oil shortage problem is now solved. 1 of them also produce black pearls, which will be useful later. Also made my first real journey in the waste by flying around the southwest corner of the map in search of a dung beetle. My fire wyvern, Reckoning, had no trouble dealing with the mobs of corrupted dinos, but the heat was slowly killing my character. So I jumped over to the desert biome for silk. Now I have a full set of desert gear.

  3. Made quite a lot of progress in the dev kit, regarding the ice-themed test map. All creature spawns for the main land as well as icebergs are 100% complete. Tonight, I also finished all my custom loot tables for the supply crates. However, drops placement needs to be completed. I'll finish them up and place player spawns in a day or two. Map should be out for testing by friends/familly in a few days. My TODO list before public test release : - Add SFX. - Fully create/implement my snow structures tier (Resources already in the map). - Lower ocean floor in order to spawn dunkleosteus, plesios, etc. - Add ocean floor meshes. (I already have a trench concept for resources). - Get started on the inland caves network. (Which also acts as the entrance/proving grounds towards the mini-Ab zone.) - Get started on said mini-Ab zone. Still debating if I'll go heavy swamp or ice cave themed on that one... Let's go nuts and make it a frozen Aberration according to my map theme!

  4. Spent most of my time recently slowly progressing on Valguero, adding bits and bobs to our base. Also expanded our metal farming out a little bit, I think it might double up as our water tame base as the cave seems to have access into the deep water trench. Got some basilos in cryo ready for when we decide to do some diving. I raised up a few velonosaurs, mainly for base defense just in case we have a rock golem make it inside our base, I really doubt the guard allos could cope with that. I also ran about for a bit killong small and medium carnivores, with our new server settings they are now dropping stone blue prints and I want a couple of full sets. Think I got most of the good peices apart from the ceiling, cant wait to set up a vault or two with the blue prints in them to mass craft stone structures. Also funny experience and not sure if its a Valguero thing or just a mucked up server setting. I yet again spotted another group of Deinonychus fall out of the sky at 50 50, I spotted this a few nights ago and though it could have been a one off, but nope those deinos keep on falling out the sky lol Also been slowly thinking about the artifacts. Got the three scorched artifacts at the moment; the destroyer, gatekeeper and the crag. I remebered that apparently the drake trench is only spawning ice wyverns at the moment, so I decided to take advantage of that and grab myself an easy Skylord. So I grabed my rock drake and otter and went to the drake trench. Made it past the ice wyverns (I mean with cloaking its easy) and inside the trench but disaster struck in the main chamber. After stoping for stamina I attempted to jump from a perch to a main wall but of course with the drakes being a drake, it instead tripped over the rock and we ended up in the lava. RIP me and my Otter Buizel. Havent had a death message yet for the drake, not sure what position its in but I am not in a position to be attempting a rescue mission, so RIP Salamence too, thankfully I had a spare drake in cryo. Took the disaster as a cue and called it a night.

  5. I agree with you 100% with basically everything youve said but i want to point out this part in particular. Pvp players want things nerfed when the only real problem is how they build and their lack of imagination/refuse to use already in game mechanics to counter things. Forgive me for the pokemon reference but if you know and worry about power herb xerneas then its your own darn fault if you dont get a ho oh or steelix to wreck it every time you face one. Same thing with the mana, it may of needed some nerfing, but ive played around with 1 and im so underwhelmed by it. I have no idea why pvpers are crying so much over this trash. Even if its hit and run freezing causes trouble, having smart base building and using microraptors will screw a mana over. Granted ive had 'discussions' with pvpers and its like talking to underdeveloped people most of the time. So its easy to see a laziness/lack of imagination with these people as well as a cry baby mentality because they dont want to evolve. Heck some of them when they are a lil more evolved then others will tell another cry baby to shut up and get good, then they refuse to evolve themselves with something else. Im glad to see someone else with reason and intelligence.

  6. I'm aware. I was responding to someone who said to remove the entire ally system. I was explaining why the ally system serves a purpose other than war. I was saying war was like the only thing it WASN'T used for outside of abuse

  7. Who in the world uses the ally system for wars? Never heard of it.. The point of the ally system is to 1) Private Chat 2) Allowing building near. 3) Blue name so can see friends/don't trigger parasaurs 4) Allow riding passenger on Rock Drakes still many benefits for PVE

  8. Arthro damage updates are a pleasant surprise! Thank you! Awesome dungeon meshing fix! Thank you! I was wondering what we were going to be able to use the extra trophies for! Great TEK additions! However, is the TEK generator ever going to power implant chambers so we can use the full 10 slots? And fix the issue of tribemates turning the chambers off with screen taps that waste element in them when trying to access ones when they don’t have permissions to access? Dear God in heaven!!!! Thank you for the patch notes fix! Ughhhh, I’m so happy about this! The patch notes state that adjustments were made, but I haven’t been in game to check what has been affected. EDIT: Only walls, foundations, doorways, ceilings (all reduced to 5) and doors (reduced to 3) have seen drops in element cost. No other structures, including lights (still 10 element), have seen decreases.

  9. I can assure you that you were not a factor in the decision about the changes to longnecks. You're incoherent. Nothing you say makes any sense.

  10. Great update! Keep up the good work! Any news on decreased costs of Element for TEK?

  12. I am glad to see that the PVE Tribe Warfare System is being disabled as it is very much open to abuse in it's current format. I am in a tribe that was raided due to someone abusing the trust of the alliance system resulting the destruction of our base with many cryoed dinos being lost, along with much damage to a friend's base, as well as yesterday seeing another friend's base raided and destroyed, all because some people in this game are simply too pathetic to actually take part in the real PVP environment. Many of us playing on the PVE servers weren't even aware that such PVP style gameplay tactics were possible and wanted no part of it either. The fact that someone could lie their way into an alliance with one tribe and then themselves actually be able to initiate tribal warfare that dragged in anyone and everyone related to that tribe via the alliance system is to me a senseless gameplay mechanic for a PVE server. At the very least this should have been held in check by having tribal warfare only possible if tribe leaders agreed upon it, not any random nobody that arrives on a server pretending to be something they are not and then being able to cause such misery for people who never wanted anything to do with warfare. Does anybody in their right mind really think that PVE players who have each literally spent thousands of hours building up a base or bases really want all that work wiped out in seconds by a bunch of stupid and brainless thugs? I lost count how much extra time and effort went in to making the report to Wildcard for our base destruction, with the final kick in the teeth being a reply back simply thanking us for the report but being unable to comment on other players. I was so close to simply quitting this game because of these raids because what is the point of playing if this is how you are 'rewarded' for all your efforts.

  13. - Mek shield debuff set to not be given on shield deactivation This is a really good nerf to the current mek shield spam meta, however I don't think it really addresses the main issue with the debuff. And that is the insanely overpowered values attached to this debuff. The insane slow which makes it impossible to escape from a mek that is in pursuit. But most of all the HUGE 50% weakness to all damage. Mek shield debuff can single handedly determine who will win a push. So much so that neither party will push into each other, so what ensues is a group of dinos on both sides just standing inside a mek shield staring at each other for 2 hours. This debuff is what is OP, not the shield spam. - Outside of Mek shield debuff reduced to 30 seconds (from 60) This is a good change but it doesn't address the main issue at hand, the actual debuff values. - Snow Owl freeze buff set to not dismount riders Great change. - Players and Dino’s are immune to the snow owl freeze for 10 seconds after being frozen Great change, I would ask that this immunity also be extended to the snow owl slow as well. Also possibly address how long players are being slowed and frozen, I think these values are a tad high currently. - Snow Owl Encapsulate/freeze wind up changed from 1.3 seconds to 2.6 Good change, this should prevent spam freezing although so would the 10 second immunity above, not sure what this change aims to accomplish. - Reduced Tek Tapejara Saddle projectile damage by 30% Both of the Tek Tapejara nerfs are quite overboard. I'll start by saying that Tek Tapey zergs have a very cheap and effective counter that only require 1 or 2 people to perform. Yes 1 or 2 people can stop 50+ guys flying in on Tek Tapes. Plant Z will single handedly stop a tek tape push in it's tracks. But that isn't the only thing, there's also Yuty fear, Rex roar, mek shield, and some other creative means. These active counters exist but there are also other passive counters such as good building practices. Layering buildings with metal, vault dropping, spacing tek turrets further apart, batteries in heavies, extra tek gens, backup gas gens, etc, etc. Wildcard I understand that people are complaining about Tek Tapes but there are several counters that exist in game that currently deal with Tek Tapes, both passive and active. It's up to the player base to use these counters as they exist to protect themselves. If Tek Tapeys were inherently broken as this patch seems to make them out as being there wouldn't be as many failed Tek Tapey zerg as there has been. I believe if a tribe doesn't build correctly or defend correctly they should be punished for this, that's the nature of PVP servers. Outright nerfing effective raid tactics because people refuse to build proper defenses or adapt to current meta is really annoying and overall damaging to PVP servers. - Reduced Tek Tapejara Saddle projectile damage to structures by 75% Super overboard on nerf see above. I also hope that this value isn't compounded on top of the overall 30% damage reduction above. Taking this reduction of 75% nerf to structures on top of the 30% nerf this is how long it will take to destroy tek items with Tapeys Paper math on the Tek Tapejara change: Tek Turret (3,000 Health) : 34 Shots : 1.25 element used with 1 Tapejara Tek Wall (10,000 Health) : 114 Shots: 4.5 element used with 1 Tapejara Tek Foundation (15,000 Health) : 171 Shots : 7 element used with 1 Tapejara Tek Ceiling (10,000 Health) : 114 Shots: 4.5 element used with 1 Tapejara Tek Generator (15,000 Health) : 171 Shots : 7 element used with 1 Tapejara Tek Forcefield (250,000 Health : 2,858 Shots : 117 element used with 1 Tapejara (All maths thanks to the one true Velo God: Jose Sanchez) I don't think much needs said about these values besides they are utterly ridiculous, so much so that you might as well delete the tek tapey saddles from the game because of how pitiful they will be if this goes through to live servers. - Dropped Plant Species Z Fruit weight to 10 Great change, however 10 weight I believe is still too high and again doesn't address the issue with plant Z. The issue with plant Z is the ridiculous blind that lasts at a minimum 10 seconds but often lasts a lot longer due to server lag. This is compounded by there not being an immunity period (reference; snow owls, bolas, mana freeze, etc). This is the reason why plant Z was so cancerous, NOT because people were carrying so much of it. Please properly address plant Z instead of band aid fixing it like this. I will gladly take the weight change but please Wildcard actively work on fixing it correctly like you are with snow owls. Plant Z has a legitimate reason for existing in the current meta, I've listed above that it is one of the most effective counters to tek tape zerg, but it also exists to counter rhinos, manas, snow owls, theris, quetzals, velos, reapers, etc.

  14. This is definitely how you hold a crossbow. I have perfect form. I have returned to Ark to seek the vengeance that has been denied me for lo these countless days*. Let they who have wronged me know that my wrath is vast and all-consuming. Here I am playing Caveman Barbies with a skin taken from the mangled corpse of a raider who I bludgeoned to death and ate. It's all gone a bit Colonel Kurtz here on the mountain. *Eleven.
