  1. Part 2 of the Long Night (*NEW* Now with less Arya!) When i got back on made those two Tek Helmets, threw one in Saltires vault then went over to Extinction to knock out another Titan. This time brought a new guy and another server member. We got shafted on loot so i gave it to one of the other guys. Only one tek bp last time we got 4! Hopped over to Aberration and went on a mission to hit some surface drops. Only really been twice before quickly but this time I stayed out the whole 90% night. Hit 3 90% nights like this. Over 20 drops and the only good loot was a jm roll rat saddle and two premade asc saddles; Megalo and Spino. Threw the megalo saddle on Saltires body then hopped over to the crafted character i made on Ab. Hes been sleeping in a Tek Pod gaining exp, threw on the grinder and before i knew it he was already level 60. Maaan.. crafting element is so much easier with crafting. It makes it the same speed as stone walls! Made 150 element then logged out had a pounding headache Today is Reaper day! @AngrySaltire and I are heading down to the Rad zone in our best dressed looking for a chick to knock us up. Hopefully we wont spend too much on drinks.

  2. Private Xbox Cluster. All over the place yesterday. Fixed a broken ini line that’s been bugging me for ages in the server start up log on Ragnarok. All because I was missing a single parentheses, so that was fun. Took my taming boat up to Jerboa island and logged out. Jumped over to The Center to stock up on element dust to transfer to each of my servers that have tek gens. Logged into Extinction briefly to fill up the gens, and went on a hunt to find a male element dust Gacha. Had no luck so jumped over to the The Island to fill tek gen. Hopped back over to Ragnarok and tamed a 140 Bulbdog on Jerboa island (I replaced that islands spawns with lantern pets). Took my taming boat back to bases and logged out, not before filling my tek gen. Hopped back over to The Center to continue hunting for that male element dust Gacha (I have them spawning under the snowy grass plains to simulate the sunken forest on Extinction). Tamed 10 Gachas, 6 males, 4 females but no element dust of either gender. Managed to get 3 organic poly makers and 2 red sap makes so may be useful on Aberration at some point. Logged off for several hours. Jumped on to Extinction with the intention to help @d1nk and @AngrySaltire with OSD’s so was out on my Gigas having some fun killing everything I saw. It went silent in chat so I logged off for the night - was too tired and could barely read the chat prior to that anyway.

  3. Scorched Earth - Private Xbox Cluster Made a fresh start. Forgot how brutal this map is in the early game. Spawned by the central mountain and put together a little shack half way up the mountain so I can at least see any predators lurking around. I didn’t play for long, but at least I’ve made a start. Just need to find a flat spot near a water well so I can build up without dying of dehydration and then I’ll make a start on taming. My main task that session was to get a bed down, basic storage, mortar and pestle and preserving bin.

  4. Well, the plan was to tame that Quetz I saw last time, but it never really got off the ground. I hopped off my Argy while it was flying just above the ground, grappled to him, hit the "All Move To" key while pointing into the sky, and . . . he landed. "What the heck?" I made sure he was in the right tame group and listening to whistles, and he still did it. I must have tried for a good twenty minutes getting it to work, but he just wouldn't cooperate. One time, I hit the key when we were on the ground and he started walking in that direction. Definitely don't think that would be much help with Quetz taming. I don't know if this has anything to do with it being a no flyer carry server. So I figured, I'd go the Tapejara route. I tame one of those, hop in the front seat, hit the "All Move To" key, and he lands too. "Rassin Frassin!" So I eventually gave up on the Quetz. As a consolation prize, I did a mega-metal run and finally built an Industrial Forge. I also put out a grinder from the Automated Ark mod. Afterward, I decided to get some working dinos and tamed a Doed, Megaloceros, and am working on a Castoroides now. Think that will be it for the day.

  5. I tamed a new Argy, which was Beautiful in terms of colors, being Black and Orange, and I tamed an ankylosaurus at the same spot i tamed the argy, basically, I can do metal runs now

  6. Well. Today definitely did not go as planned. I was operating under the assumption the rotating weekend event would be the same as the last one so I spent a considerable amount of time early in the morning finishing some prep work. Making kibble, darts, and I went out and tamed a tek stego for more efficient production of narcs. Also did a metal run and made a BP rifle with extremely high damage, another gift from I. Server admin felt otherwise, however. Instead of a taming boon we got...increased 5x loot quality, randomized beacon spawns and 1.5 wild dino damage. Fantastic. RIP to the guys who had organized a King Titan run for this weekend, no point now. Also not much point in taming. So I had to find something else to do. First I spent some time helping out a newer player on the server. Gave him some spare dodo eggs to make a hatchery, one of my thorny dragons and some spare gear I had lying around. Then I headed out to Extinction with my doed in hand to tame gachas. It's been on my to do list for awhile. I got very lucky. Came home with an element dust gacha, also one for black pearls and one for silica pearls, the latter of which is mainly for the production of spino saddles. Wish I had found one with obsidian so I could work on hard poly, but that's for another day. On the way back I also happened to come across a 145 enforcer, got a pretty decent asc bp so that's nice. Transferred home and got to work. I set the gachas up, the two pearlers in the pagoda and the element dust safely tucked away inside my base. Also moved all of my adult yutys to the pagoda so they're very much out of the way now. Then I started doing two things: breeding and culling. I painstakingly went through all of my cryopods and breeding stock and honestly I reduced my total number of animals by about 1/2. There are just so many things I don't need anymore. I cut my argent flock in half, went down to just 3 spinos, culled half my velos and got rid of all of my rexes. I did not cull the ugly Easter rex, but I did give her away for free. Most of the breeding animals I culled I bred first, mainly to see what I would get. None of the argents were worth keeping. The velos didn't give me anything either. Most of the spinos were hopeless except...the final egg I popped gave me a male and female set of twins with perfect stats. All except the 0 speed. This basically "forks" my breeding line into two. The twins are the base of my spino army for bosses. Yes, you read that correctly. The stats I have on this line and the max armor saddles I can make should be enough to take on alpha brood and alpha monkey, if my new new friend is to be believed. And you know what, what is even the point of breeding super strong spinos if I'm not going to use them. Sure, rexes are easier for most people. Not for me. My playstyle has always been built around having spinos as my main mount. So I'm just gonna go for it. My line starts with 55 HP and 46 melee and I have saddles with 352 armor. Plus they are aberrant spinos, sacrificing a bit of survivability in order to maximize their combat potential. I'm just gonna go for it. Anything rexes can do, my spinos can do too. It just might take longer to stack up enough stats to achieve it, is all. The second fork of my spino line is basically the same stats, but dropping that pesky speed stat and possibly food in the future. I can also completely drop weight, food, oxy and stamina on the boss spinos if I really want to, though with this server's settings the need for such a thing is far, far in the future. But anyway. This other line will be my general use mount and will make use of mutations from the army line, but also ones those spinos might not need like stamina and weight and maybe even oxy for a deep sea specialist line. This is why I'm so frustrated with the mating timers on this server, because spinos really benefit from different builds and being able to mutation stack properly really opens up some interesting possibilities for them. But, that is an argument I'm not going to win, sadly. While continuing to raise the yutys and the new spinos, I also popped my snow owl egg, wanted one imprinted to me and also in case of accidents. Also finally got a female thorny dragon with weight so I can work on that a little. Not doing the full line I had envisioned, just enough to get an imprinted utility dino and a backup egg or two. Since my nanny persistently fails to feed babies, I hand fed them all while cleaning up around the base. Underrated feature of gachas, just chucking all the random crap I don't need into them and getting stuff I do need out. That said, it's been a long and adventurous day and with a final meat run to top off the troughs, I'll be done for the night. And likely the weekend as I have plans for tomorrow. If I can spare some time in the morning I want to at least breed my new spino pair and this thorny dragon. And the velos too since I culled the original stat male so definitely need a backup. The loot quality thing isn't all that exciting and I am just so extremely disappointed overall, but I'm making the best of it.

  7. Just a small Quality of Life improvement, please make Ankylo auto-harvest metal like Doedicurus does with stone! Would be nice to get the metal on side of the mountains without a Quetzal. Thank you.

  9. Deinonychus Common Name: Deinonychus Species: Deinonychus magna pede Time: Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild By the time you hear the scurrying claws of the Deinonychus, it's often too late. Superior hunters, they leap from a hiding place and pounce on their prey. The Deinonychus is an agile climber as well, jumping from wall ledge to wall ledge as it seeks high vantage points to lie in wait. A hungry Deinonychus tends to be fearless and will hunt prey much larger than itself, latching onto a dinosaur's back with its sickle-shaped claws, then starting to feed before its victim is even dead. While it likes its meat fresh, a Deinonychus isn't above scavenging a carcass if no other food is available. Domesticated Raising a Deinonychus in captivity requires an ample food supply, as they have a fast metabolism to match their high activity level. The Deinonychus is also fiercely territorial near nests with eggs, even if the eggs aren't its own. This makes breeding successive generations a hazardous process. Unless raised from eggs, they cannot be tamed; the hunter instinct of a wild Deinonychus is so strong that it reflexively pounces on a would-be master. 10. It's that time of year again, ARK: Survival Evolved is celebrating it's 4th birthday today! It's been FOUR YEARS since we first entered into Early Access on Steam. Hard to believe it's been that long, isn't it? From humble beginnings waking up naked on the beach to saving planet Earth from giant roaming Titans, it feels like we have done it all. And we have loved each and every moment of development, meeting you at events, hosting streams, and watching your content. Thank you so much for all the support you've shown us over the last 4 years. The past year has been a busy one for us. With the help of our vibrant community, we have been able to achieve quite a lot! Today we're taking a look back on all that's happened in the world of ARK in the last year. Things started out strong with the release of ARK on mobile! For the first time survivors were able to hold ARK in their hands and play on-the-go. If you haven't tried ARK on mobile, you can check it out for iOS and Android. Later in June we launched our ARKaeology event, where survivors were greeted with new stunning dinosaur skins and dig sites to unearth dinosaur bones and goodies. With the announcement of our third expansion pack ARK: Extinction coming later in the year, June was also the first edition of the Extinction Chronicles which included the TEK Rex as well as the first piece of corrupted armor. July, August, September brought with it a new TEK dinosaur each month, and one piece of the corrupted armor for survivors to collect. Our modding contest was launched in September, awarding big cash prizes to support our talented ARK modders. October was the final Extinction Chronicles that brought with it the TEK Quetzal and the final piece of corrupted armor to complete the five piece set. In October we participated in TwitchCon and gave influences a sneak peek at the Extinction orbital supply drop game mode. It was the first time survivors were able to get their hands on anything to do with the expansion pack. In November we participated once again in the Extra Life campaign raising money for sick kids charities. Together we raised $76,000+ over the course of our 25 hour live stream on Twitch. On November 6th ARK's third expansion pack ARK: Extinction became available for players to experience! New titans and bizarre element-infused creatures roam the desolate planet Earth and gave players a totally new experience unlike anything before. At the end of November, ARK became available on the Nintendo Switch! December borught the holiday season and with it, the return of Raptor Claus who had a new guest along with him this year: Gacha Claus! Romance was in the air during February with our cheeky Valentine's Day event. In March of this year we were finally able to get the kibble rework and Structures Plus into the hands of players under the name ARK: Homestead. April brought with it the return of Eggcellent Adventure, an event in which players must collect eggs to decorate and craft skins and holiday themed items. In May we announced our most recent mod contest, which just opened for entries! If you're a modder, definitely check out the mod contest and you could possibly win big cash prizes! Last but not least, Snail Games’ open world, voxel-based sandbox survival game PixARK launched for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One & Xbox One X, and PC on Steam this May! Thank You! On behalf of everyone here at Studio Wildcard, thank you for joining us on this journey and for being an awesome member of our tribe! We don't plan on slowing down any time soon, and the year ahead is shaping up to be another great year for ARK. We hope you join us. Keep on surviving!

  11. So, I've been contending with this server admin over the mating timers since day 1, pretty much. New new friend has been chatting with me and brought up the idea of moving servers. I'm open to the idea if I could just find one with the mods and multis I like. The big one for me is flyer mods are a deal breaker, full stop. The flyer nerf was how long ago now and we have griffins and rock drakes and manas and cryopods and tek everywhere, there is 0 need to continue to abuse a massively outdated mechanic. Anyway, he left to go check out a server while I bred my newly grown base bloodline pair. Bred them, 2 day mating cooldown. Popped the egg, male spino. I got him to juvenile and logged because honestly this is ridiculous. What's the point of playing on an unofficial if you're still going to get bottlenecked by official rates? It's so incredibly frustrating. Took a bit of a breather and eventually logged back in...to single player. I wiped all of my data, updated my mods and started fresh. Yes, I have a backup save of my Island map so I didn't lose anything irreplaceable and I'll always have the memories and screenshots anyway. The Island, single player Spawned at Cragg's Island, that hilly area toward the front. I don't care how many times I do this, I really do enjoy the beginning bit, the initial struggle to survive and the sheer unpredictability of early game. Plus, when you first stake your territory and go full Harvest Moon on the rocks and trees and plants, just clearing it all out. I built on the second hill to start, with 2 dodos when one couldn't fit everything. An early raptor kill netted me a pike, which was great. Grinding metal on normal rocks kind of sucks, but I have rates up enough that it's not tear your hair out aggravating. Made my crossbow and immediately tamed a trike. Super low level but it doesn't matter, his only purpose is berry and thatch farming. Got ambushed by a sarco, took it down for some levels and prime meat. Went after a ptera to take advantage of said prime, unfortunately the choices were all low levels. Found a nice 135 but it happened to be near an alpha raptor. No thanks. Took the next highest level, a mere 25. Killed a couple turtles for keratin, made the saddle. Then a slow, dangerous flight to the redwood mountain to collect a small amount of crystal and metal. Success. Left for the afternoon to hang out with a friend. Came back, melted the ingots down. Tamed a seagull mostly on a whim. And through the entire day I was building. One thing I've never built but always wanted to try is one of those huge, sprawling, ridiculously intricate bases with all those crazy things like stables for individual animals and whatnot. My builds are big but not sprawling like that and usually lack a lot of detail work. I'm the type of person who can build a castle but the interior would look like a warehouse, you know? All business. So this time around I'm taking my time to assemble things as I need them and to build all of the interconnected elements together. So it will be a bit haphazard and slapdash and unique to the events of this playthrough. Here's what I've built so far, it's been awhile since I shared any screenshots: Obviously still very much in progress. That huge stairway down to the beach is for my raft, I do have one built and it's only slightly out of the frame. So I still need to build the actual pier at the bottom. The gazebo started out as a temporary hut for the dodos, they're still in there pooping out eggs. Need a proper home for them since that's more of a travel area now. Plan to move the crop plots a bit but first I need more space for the compost bin. Wherever the dodos end up, I'll probably build a kitchen and move the bin to that area. It won't be too far, I want it near the crops. They are indeed empty but I always place them early so they can fill with water by the time I'm ready to plant. Also need to design a better workspace area and material storage. And of course none of my animals or myself really have any dedicated areas to stay. I was going to make a perch where the icthyornis is now but then I decided to do that giant staircase down instead. The most important thing is space for the ptera since it can't defend itself or anything. The trike is pretty weak too and should be protected when not out farming, so he could use a stable. If you're wondering why I'm building in wood, this area isn't all that dangerous for one. And for two, this is not my main base. Since I can build wherever I want I decided to set up here near the obelisk for easy transfers and relative safety. This is essentially the starter base that I will probably abandon or use as an outpost once I've got some better tames. All in all, much happier to be back in control of my Ark experience again. The one thing I don't like about single player is the lack of community, but maybe I can find people to chat with on Discord while playing, who knows.

  12. Had a little hiatus from posting/playing. Started my single player world over, had some RL stuff happen, as I talked to @d1nk about, and then got bombarded with some other things, so I wanted to just take a step back and start out fresh, even in game. Single Player- Island- Ps4 Been grinding for almost the last week on the south side of the island (Spawn). Didn’t build a base for a LONG time, just relied on a single foundation lol. Started off taming 4 Dilos all 70-95 pre tame, and 2 lystro’s 25 and 145 pre tame. I also happened to find 2 ptera’s 95 and 100 that were great color patterns, and even tho I was a long way off from unlocking the saddle, I tamed both of them anyway. During the 2nd tame, at over 90% completion, I get hit from behind by a bary lvl 15 thankfully (it didn’t hit the ptera), I bola’d it and Ko’d It just to have it on my side lol. After a while, and getting the ptera saddles , I venture out looking for a sarco, found an otter along the way and tamed it up (I was probably more pumped about that than I probably should have been lol). I find a 50 sarco and really just wanted to tame it for the water traveling purposes for the time being. Successfully tame it, and man was it a beast. I got a little too confident with it, as I was going through the ocean I see jellyfish. Now the noobness in me remembers you can get something from jellyfish but I could not remember what. I decide to attack the group of 4 head on. Welp, I am dumb, I die, my otter dies, but I am able to retrieve my stuff because the sarco is tanking. I was a decent way out so I pressed “follow all” to try and maybe save the sarco since I didn’t have any creatures near me, or so I thought. I glance over and see a bary in the water, and it was my bary, The sarco dies and they immediately go over to it and kill it pretty easily. I make a dash for shore, as I get almost to shore I see all my Dino’s getting into the water, dang it, so I have to stop them and they all get out just barely beating the jellyfish to the shore line. I get everybody together and gather my thoughts, well, only way to handle this. Revenge mission... I fly my ptera to the top of the rock right off the shoreline and the jellyfish start heading out to sea. I pull out my long neck (scoped) and I pick off all 4, in 4 shots (I know, I was surprised too lol) live game footage (lol): Anywho, lol, that made me build a big Dino pen and no new tames other than a trike. I built a warehouse/base (all stone) and have just been crafting my life away. Lol

  13. yeah i get ya, not being able to play online or have a pc that can run ark i watch syntacs modded play throughs, lately he has been doing main ark with no real big mods asside from his usual s+. anyway, syntac made a video about a possible new map. the word relates to pizza, it is not click biat as he uses real evidence and does not say there is a new map but theorizes and hopes for a new map, u here that crysis and nuroku, u could learn a thing or two from syntac, he does things right, u click baiting jerks, anyway hope syntacs theories r true, i would love new dinos and a new map, isn't E3 tomorrow, maybe they will announce something at it about ark. then delay it for months on end, hehehe lol

  15. After several hours of searching for a therizino, one spawned near my base. I kited it into my trap, no problems. I starved it out, and tamed using veggies. Still took 2 hours to tame, but that's ARK for ya.

  16. If it helps any.. theres a few spots on The Island you can force the quetz to get stuck for easier taming: Volcano sidemo obsidian mountain river side cliff, snow biome 3 spots (by the 'murder beach' theres a cliff edge) - on the same side as above but higher up the mountain and near blue obelisk it will get stuck in the mountain. Easiest without Griffin, could also rare flower pull it, no?

  17. Got lots of time today so this will be a two part'er. Started off on Aberration. Continued crafting element and imprinted a few extra Megalo for drake farming. Did more farming top ups, then hopped to the Center to fill up some resources there. After a long time of feeding gachas I brought over some things to Ab and prepped for Reaper hunting tomorrow. Repaired my Tek Suit then started preparing for some Extinction fun. A server mate needed Gigas for OSD. I hopped over there and started incubating some eggs for him. When everyone got on we knocked out a Desert Titan kill, netting us a Tek helmet BP - the last piece we needed for full blueprint quality Tek suit! Yay After that Saltire and another server guy spent a few hours looking for red OSD"s... No luck. We settled on a 50k vein topping up our element on Extinction, good for the gennies. Also got us a buttload of dust for Aberration to keep all our teleports going. I hopped back to Ab and imprinted another 2 Megalo. The stars aligned and I got 100% on both while doing some house clean up. Just back on TC right now topping up and prepping to craft two Tek Helmets before I take a break.

  19. hell ya, so i am guessing this creature will be able to climb or cling to walls, latch to large creatures and feed off of them healing it, gains a pack bonus cause der it is a raptor species, and u will need to steal the eggs. so that leaves me to wonder, will it have nests just spawning on different maps, or is it the new egg tame for the new map?, find out next week on community crunch. also isn't this thing in ark additions mod, so they may be adding new creatures from there, hell ya wildcard, u have got my full suport

  22. Had to post this. Was just at the surface getting drops. Was on my last drop of the night, popped down for a yellow. Ive been pretty good at these drops - perching up high waiting for it to drop then zoom down, right beside drop and loot - back to up high. Not a single close call. This last yellow i did the same, zoomed down and it was right beside the obelisk. Hopped off grabbed drop and as I turned around a reaper king burrowed between my Drake and I.. wham! Tail swipe sends us both flying. Im wearing full blueprint tek gear so im scrambling back to drake,Wham! Another tailswipe sends me into 2 other reapers and im dinner. Scrambled up a haz suit and borrowed a drake ran back up to save my tek gear mostly.. drake and shinehorn died as soon as I got to my body.. got my gear and scrambled out of there. RIP Drakzin and Lamb of God (my awesome black and red shinehorn from Ab v.1) Thrilling! These are the moments why we play ark.
