Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! Extinction Creature Teaser Tomorrow! Be sure to tune in to the Xbox channel on Mixer at 11am PST tomorrow (Tuesday) to see a teaser of one of the creatures coming in Extinction during their ARK stream! Last week we introduced you to our adorable giant sloth friend, the Gacha. ARK Digest 55! Thank you for all of your questions for this digest, Survivors! Here is our question and answer session with Lead Programmer Chris Willoughby. This week we've covered some of the very popular questions we've received regarding Extinction. Survivor Asher asks, "Will extinction have an ocean, or at least a large body of water for some bigger aquatic creatures?" and survivor Alex asks, "All Extinction related pictures you've published were mostly on land. Is Extinction is going to be a map like Scorched Earth with no sea or is it a map with water creatures?" Survivor Caleb asks, "Is the dev team currently working on a long-term solution to improve the quality of life/tame cap issues on PVE? If so, could the team provide us with some details?" Survivor Nattix asks, "As you mentioned in the previous digest, titans are going to be temporary tames. Will titans have more uses for PVE players who aren't looking to go to war or are they going to be solely for PVP like titanosaurs?" Survivor Thomas asks, "In a previous teaser we saw some Defense Units roaming the land, this time without their supreme leader summoning them. Could this be the time we finally are able to get our chance to befriend the buggers instead of ripping them apart limb-from-limb (or at least, put them back together again :P)?" Survivor Thomas asks, "Since we already have seen a glimpse of some Wyvern-action on the land below, can we then confirm that Extinction will have some more creatures from previous expansions living on earths crust and if so, will they be living under similar conditions as they were on their respective arks accordingly?" There won't be a community livestream this coming Thursday, but it's because we're super busy poreparing for our TwitchCon event coming up this week, and our yearly Extra Life stream AND the launch of Extinction falls shortly after! These next few weeks sure will be busy. Jen will be present at our special TwitchCon event this year along with ARK producer John. To those of you that RSVP'd to attend we look forward to seeing you there and we hope you enjoy getting to be the first to play Extinction! In case you've missed our last couple of mentions of it, Extra Life this year is on November 3rd and we'll be streaming for 24-hours straight to raise money for sick kids hospitals. We'll be dropping some Extinction teasers along the way and boosting our official server rates as our Extra Life team gets closer to our goal. Be sure to tune into our Twitch channel on the 3rd and we'll have more details about this next week. Mod Community Updates! Over the last two weeks, we managed to spotlight almost every mod in the contest. If you missed any and would like to see what all of the mods have to offer, the streams have been sliced and put into convenient episodes, all of which can be found in this Twitch collection. Public voting for the Mod Contest has concluded but technical evaluations are still being finalized so rankings may still continue to change until the winners are announced on November 1st. Xbox - Single Player - The Island Decided I needed a change of pace on Ark the past few days from the breeding and the grinding on the online server of Rag and Aberration, so I wiped and started again on single player. Wamted to experience the island again. So I spawned in on the south eastern shores (funnily enough where I first ever started) and ground up the levels till I hit the raft engram. Wanted to get out to Herb Island to work up to a few teirs including getting to metal tools. Took the raft and made a beeline for the island. Predictably a leeds targeted me but it somehow missed its one chance and I got to the Island. The rafts stuck there now as theres a leeds and an alpha leeds hanging around lol. So I threw down a base, tamed up a parasaur and trike and worked on getting narcs and metal tools together. Eventually tamed up a pterandon and got a saddle on it. Funny story, killed an anky for keratin l and I turned round to fin my self face to face with a unicorn stuck between two rocks. Need to come back for that at some point. Also tek parasaurs everywhere, thought they were supposed to be rare, common as muck lol Took the ptera out on a scouting mission for a good base location. I am so indecisive about these things, so spent ages convincing myself about different areas to settle down in. Eventually settle down on the west coast ontop of one of the main hills overlooking towards the north and blue ob. Got a 3x3 base down and kitted out the essentials. Had to do a metal run on the ptera for metal for a new smithy and a supppy of metal to keep my equipment topped up. Tamed up a new trike and a couple of dilos including an event blue one, for the new base. Not getting the dinos I tamed up on herb island to the new location anytime soon, with the leeds hanging around and no ability to upload and download at beacons.1 point

Well I'm going to use the pokeba... I mean cryopods. Since I prefer to build big but tight bases I have a problem with dinos taking too much space, especially those that aren't used daily, so that'll fix my problem.1 point

Well it's a step in the right direction, but I wouldn't say it is over, after all, people on official servers will still need to choose to use them. If they choose not to then there will still be tame limitations. All depends on who plays on the server and what they are like.1 point

No because Scorched Earth is just desert, and Extinction is clearly not just desert. Just because there won't be a large amount of water doesn't mean it will be completely dry and barren. Aberration doesn't have a large body of water, more so than Scorched, but it is still a small amount compared to Island.1 point

Tames can't become corrupted I don't think, just like tames on Aberration can't become Aberrant, so don't think you've got anything to worry about with transferring dinos to Extinction. Not all of the other DLC creatures will be in Extinction, in fact i've not seen any Aberration creatures revealed yet.1 point

Xbox - Unofficial Cluster - Ragnarok. Needed to find out my server version for an enquiry so I hopped on to find that out but felt compelled to do some base maintenance since I haven’t been on for a few weeks. Fortunately, tamed dinos starve 10x slower than the default rate so I only need to worry about the fast consumers i.e. Quetzals, Gigas, and Daedons but they still had plenty of kibble on them from the last time. While I was inspecting my dinos for a feeding, I collected a load of poop because my greenhouse was dying but wasn’t too much of an issue because I still had a bit of fertiliser left. Having 10 Achatina helps tremendously when hoarding paste so I made sure to collect some from them before logging out.1 point

Xbox - Nitrado Unofficial Server - Ragnarok and Aberration. Quick one tonight. Started of by breeding for my desired blue/black glowtails. Got half way there, got the stats and some of the colours onto a female. All I need to do now is breed the new female with the blue and good stats with the black/green breeding male to get the one colour region I need. Quickly hoped onto Aberration to see if it was 90% night. Was lucky and it was the final full 90% night of the cycle so I went for a surface loot run on my drake. Didnt get any drake bps at all which I am ultimatly looking for, but at least I got a MC hazard leggings and an asc hazard helmet, would of rather the bps for those but never mind. I did kill my first reaper king a lowly level 5 I felt confortable taking on, so I was happy about that lol It really is scary up there, the suspense is real I absolutely love it.1 point

And I thought I was basically invincible on those guys lol probb cause I didnt see much on the island, Unofficial ragnarok- This server is f'n great like legit , the admins have been away for a few weeks and gave us all a quetz as a present that was like unheard of for my official ways lol, and I got a fire wyvern egg! Decided to try and find a bear cause i love bears but they're a pain to tame and yes I know use a pen, but is that as fun? a green one at 240 gave me the slip oh well but I stumbled across wyvern cave..poison wyverns are jerks and alphas at lvl 150 seem terrible After I found a egg and decided I wanted to hatch it, the admin showed me how to use the community wyvern trap ...legit right? Copped some wyvern milk and I'm literally raising them as I type1 point

tamed replacement ptera and accidentally fed myself 10 narcotics instead of the ptera and because of this fell asleep for what felt like years.0 points
