  1. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! The Community Crunch is where we share important things going on with ARK, as well as host contests and showcase creations made by the community! Rideable Moschops Returns! By popular demand (and some discussion by our gameplay team) the ridable Moschops makes its return! For those who missed out, during the TLC 2 update we encountered an unintended mechanic which allowed the Moschops to be ridable. After receiving feedback from players regarding the creature and its new founded ability, we decided we wanted to make it so, but do it properly! So stay tuned for a ridable Moschops coming soon to an ARK near you! Official PC Legacy PVE Savefiles! Download 'em here! Attention PC PvE Legacy Survivors! We've made the current Legacy PC PVE Savefiles available to download. This has been a community request for some time from our player base as some of you have expressed interest in moving on to your own dedicated servers. The snapshot was taken on the 3rd of April 2018 and we're going to see if we can also make console PVE legacy saves available. Please keep in mind that we won't be offering this on our regular Official Network or PvP Legacy servers. Sponsored Mod Program Update & New Wildcard Workshop Tutorials! Hey everybody! Zen here with your dose of modding news! I'm excited to announce a new addition to the Sponsored Mod Program this month. The joy of the hunt was always a significant aspect of ARK for me, and as far as I was concerned, taming was as much a part of that experience as the actual battle with a beast. I am delighted to see that someone has taken the mantle of modding that aspect with some significant changes. I am pleased to announce that the Immersive Taming mod will be joining our roster this month! Using this mod, you will find that taming has been changed from a battle to protect an unconscious creature while you tried to keep it drugged and stocked with food suppositories to the gauntlet of gaining a creatures trust and trying to tame it in a way that imitates life a bit more. I also have a couple of new entries for the Wildcard Workshop tutorial series today! Tutorial #2 focuses on trying to get you into the right mindset for programming and how to look at the interaction between data, logic, and the game world. You will find some supplemental information in the thread post for this one. In tutorial #3 we build our first mod from the from the minimal files we set up before into something that will actually work if it were uploaded to the workshop. We will also be making some changes to the Mod Tutorial Contest. Going forward these will be more freestyle under much wider topics. For instance, Contest #3 is all about making ridiculous April Fools Day buffs! We'll also start linking all submissions in the contest thread, not just the winner, since they will all be unique Eggcellent Adventure Returns! Until April 10th, survivors will be able to experience the "Eggcellent Adventure" Event on all platforms! During Eggcellent Adventure, survivors will be able to collect special "Bunny Eggs" across the ARK from wild Bunny Dodo's and Bunny Oviraptor's. These Bunny Eggs can paint or used in special Cooking Pot recipes to craft holiday-themed items such as Bunny Ears, a Bunny Costume for the Procoptodon, are two brand new cosmetics: the Knitted Chick Hat and Egg Shell Hat for both survivor and dino! Wild creatures roaming the ARKs will also find themselves feeling eggcellent, sporting bright colours of Green, Magenta, Yellow, and Blue. Wild Dodos are replaced by Bunny Dodos - with ears, taming disabled, and drop 50% consumable dodo eggs and 50% Bunny eggs Wild Oviraptors are replaced by Bunny Oviraptors - with ears, taming disabled, and drop 50% consumable Oviraptor eggs and 50% Bunny Eggs Bunny Eggs can be placed on the ground and painted Bunny Eggs will expire after approximately two weeks from inventories, and placed eggs will immediately decay once the event is turned off. Run your private server with '-ActiveEvent=Easter' to turn on the event Running the same server without -ActiveEvent=Easter will delete all placed egg structures PC players can use Steam > ARK > Properties > General > Set Launch Options and paste in -ActiveEvent=Easter to experience the event in single player/non-dedicated/player dedicated worlds. You must enable the event yourself in these modes. Event is not available in Primitive Plus, or single player console worlds, non-dedicated console servers, or player dedicated console servers. Console can however spawn and use the new cosmetics with the command below. This year we thought it would be fun to run a little egg painting contest along-side the event for those artistically inclined survivors to show off their work! 2. I have played Ark on PC (limited experience), PS4 Pro (limited experience but plan to run a second story-line on it next to my) XBox One X Ark account, which is my main playing one. Today I was experimenting by taking a pteranodon up into the sky to see how high its ceiling it. I soon hit that mysterious multi-coloured ceiling mesh. I then jumped off of my pteranodon with a parachute and floated down to the ground, with my bird following me. I then went up again and this time I turned off the bird's follow me and I jumped from the ceiling mesh with no parachute, over the sea. I was surprised to find that I survived the fall. This time the pteranodon stayed up there, out of sight. I climbed onto my second pteranodon and started to make my way up to the where I thought the first one was. I made the mistake of logging out of the game during the journey. When I logged back in I was in the air with no bird below me. I fell. No I had two pteranodons stuck up there, out of sight from even the telescope, so couldn't call them back down. So off I went to find and tame a third pteranodon. I eventually found my other two just hovering where I left them. I whistled for both to follow me and I lead them back home. I had great fun. >.< I love this game.

  3. This week in Ark was weird. I did a lot, had a lot of hunts and adventures but overall it doesn't seem like it based upon what I brought back to the base. Raises; I had an extended break over Easter only going to work one day so my plan was raised centric. I don't care about having pretty dino colors more than stats so knowing a tame cap was coming at some point I did my normal wake up early and get my eggs hatched. I do that because Quetz's and Yuty's are 18 hour baby timers too so I like to get a jump on things. Most of the hatches were not good enough to keep around but I did find a few. The Quetz is a male with the food mutation that i can now pair with the female. I will breed them 10 to 12 times and then see if i can't auction him off since he's a muted Quetzal with awesome stats. The yellow bird with pink crown was an egg I traded for. Not great stats but I wanted that pink to add into my yellow bird/blue limb. The egg popped a female so going to be some extensive cross over since the yellow/blue line is also both females. The yellow crown is a new mutation on my line. Food mutation. Hatched with the 9900 hp (instead of the 10.3k hp) and the 2184 stam, and 331 melee. Both of those are a blander yellow than I currently have so I'll give it a shot into the yellow/blue line but I think it'll look bad however I believe that yellow into the blue fur line will look pretty nice. All of these were at 61% when I came to work today. I also hatched several Theri eggs but no stats mutations on mine, however I did finally hatch the 408 melee eggs from the trade for the boss run 2 weeks ago. They both popped male with the 9.2k hp, 408 melee. That works out well since the 1710 stamina is on 2 females. They were at 96% when I came to work. They'll be done by the time I get off and I'll start breeding them right away for a Sunday hatching. I am raising a Quetz for a trade so I'll be up for it anyway. I hatched a lot more but got no Quetzal weight mutations, no other Yuty or Theri mutations and still haven't got an Argy male with the 1300 stamina 768 weight combination or any weight mutation, no mutations at all actually. I'll keep breeding to stockpile some more eggs for another Sunday go around in all these. Tames; The Easter event (still going on) was a big success for a lot of people. Very cool combo colors. I did get out and I have K.O.'d a bunch of dino's but I look for specific stats on most of the tames so didn't tame a lot even when the cap was available to do so. I did spot a lot for my allies to tame and helped them out some. They also go for high levels and are very active in the trade market. Personal tame wise I did grab a 145 event mammoth. I needed a mammoth for the main base so I figured I might as well get one with some color. I'm not going to breed mammoth's so strictly a utility tame. I also tamed up a 140 event terror bird. I replaced one of my current terror bird eggers with this one to add a little more color to my kibbler's. I may go out the rest of this week and find replacements for my current egg tames just to add a little color in the base. I also did a lot of Megatherium hunting both event and non-event. In a 3 day period I probably knocked out 20 130+ Megatheriums but it was my first one that made the cut. She tamed out with 325 melee. The male has 6.3k hp. There are certainly better stats out there but it's a nice start to the Megatherium line. The rest didn't have pre-tame stats I was looking for so I just ate them. I knocked out probably as many 140+ Megaloceros. I kind of want to breed a nice line but am very specific that I won't tame unless it has 2500 pre-tame hp. That is 36 points and I think a strong base line. I also tamed a 150 event rhino. That was a gift for my one ally. I was actually on my way to a 150 Yuty when I came across it. It was on a cliff side bordering the snow and desert. I placed some large bear traps but it kept running right by them, and gored me off the ledge. I was on very little hp but it got stuck in a crevice so was able to put it down. My other allies have a base right there so they came and picked me up and took me up to my Wyv. The rhino tamed out alright. 307 melee. Nothing phenomenal but my ally liked it. He immediately went out and found a female 145 event Rhino and that thing was sick. Tamed out with 4.6k hp and 370 melee. Nice colorful mating pair there. I did lose the Yuty to some wolves. They are so stupid. I tried to help but every time I got close to bite a wolf the Yuty would focus on me and the wolves would get in some shots so finally I backed away but it got overwhelmed. Finally I K.O.'d several Yuty's and found one to tame. A 150 male, non-event. I led it to a trap at our mountain base so an easy tame. When it stood up it had 351 melee. Yay! A new stat to breed in. I already mated it with my females with 10.3k hp, 2184 stamina and 331 melee. Once it gets transferred over it'll condense a mutation side as well. I'll breed them up a few more times and hatch all of them on Sunday to see what we get. Randomness; So i did a few builds this time off as well. I am not a builder but some things need to get done. i finally constructed one of our new Golem traps. The gates have been placed for awhile but I never built the cannon platform. I went over to our original trap and snapped some SS to replicate it. I built it up but the cannon was sticking out to far, then when I got it where I thought it would be protected it still took damage from the Golem. So I built an additional protection extension but now the Golem doesn't keep aggro. I built something to house a small tame hoping to keep the Golem's aggro but that didn't work either. I may just need to resign myself to replacing the cannon every few tames if I want to try and solo tame Golem's. I also added an enclosure to half of my Rex barn. The Rex barn doubles as a Wyvern trap and while I feel I am done with raising Wyvern's, that could always change so I decided to keep that intact. I killed off most of my breeding Rex's so to reduce clutter at the main base down the hill I moved the Yuty's up to the barn and didn't have the same confidence to leave them out in the open for Wyvern's to attack. Moving the Yuty's did help lag in my main base and it gives me a nice area to breed them in now. That was a simple build. I just built the walls up higher, placed a roof, and added a behemoth gate in the center to be able to walk the Rex's out to tank Wyvern's if I need to. I didn't get done a lot of the things I planned on. My tribe mate stayed almost exclusively on Abb during the event with his new tribe mate over there. One of my allies on Rag had a tribe mate just starting on Abb so they teamed up and they got a lot done. A lot of high level tames, event tames, and an amazing 9.8k hp Megalosaurus tame. That's an awesome male to have and I think they'll want to use Mega's to eventually fight Rockwell. I feel hopeful for the base game with some of the improvements announced/implemented so it may get to the point that I finally buy Abb and it'll be nice to have an established set up if it ever gets to that point. We didn't run any boss fights. We had plans to last night but then the update hit and some people had crazy download times plus the one guys internet was acting up all day. We're all pretty good on element to keep things running for a few days but they need a fight since they build more with element than I have so far. We'll get it done in the next couple days. So my results this week are a bit torn. I had fun. I never really got bored. It was very nice having that open ability once the babies were eating out of troughs but I didn't get done everything I set out to and i missed my tribe mate a bit. My old tribe mate did reach out to me finally. It was good hearing from him. He wanted to know if i was looking at Conan coming up. I heard some things about it so I went to YouTube to watch a few video's. Eh. No dinosaurs. lol. I did tell him I'll set up a boss fight if he wants to jump on and at least experience it since he never got a chance. I shared some of the stuff we've done and then we went back to our things. I liked playing with him so I may get Conan just to play with him but Ark is the focus. On the docket; Boss fights, continue looking for wild stats for my current lines, and a few raises. Standard arkage. Until next week.

  4. S+ is currently the only confirmed Mod. All the ones in the sponsored mod program have an opportunity, but none are confirmed.

  5. Yesterday I did basically the same thing as Monday. Built one chamber of my base, this actually completes the bottom third of the first floor aside from a few corridor ceilings. Worked a little more on the floor layout as well, I think I have it mostly in my head now. Then I went out hunting, some bad luck meant I didn't really find anything. Did get a stego but the tame took forever ugh. I don't understand why they didn't leave x2 on for the event but whatevs. But that herd is complete so barring any unforeseen circumstances and more rogue theris I won't ever have to do that again. Now I'm trying to decide what I should prioritize in the base build itself. The aviary will take the longest because it's the single biggest part of the entire base. It is very important and I would feel a lot better if I were able to move all my farm animals inside. On the other hand the other rooms in the base will be more immediately useful because I can't set up most of my crafting stations until the second floor is done. One of the problems with such a highly integrated base design is that the base basically needs to be built before any of the interior can be set up. I guess I'll just do as much building as I can stand to do today and see where that gets me.

  8. Having spent most of yesterday building, I decided today would be good for taming. Unfortunately I did not foresee a rogue theri getting into my base and killing 7 freshly tamed farm animals. It was a 100+, there was no chance to save them. I was very frustrated and took a break for the afternoon. If it had killed my spino I honestly would have quit. I don't know what it is about official servers but I've lost more animals since I started official than in my last 6 months on unofficials. Crazy. Came back and have made a very good recovery. Not counting what I lost, today's tally: 2 turtles 3 dilos 2 dimos 1 lystro 1 pachy 1 ptera 3 raptors 1 stego 2 trikes 2 argents 3 ankylos I'm actually still taming one of the turtles, as soon as he's up I'm done for the night. One of the reasons why I'm going so crazy taming: all of these except the ankys are event colors! If I'm going to stare at butts, they better be pretty, you know? One of the raptors is actually an extra, only tamed because he was trying to eat one of my turtles while it was down. I'll probably try to sell/trade it for something I actually need. Also since I have the ankys and can now generate sparkpowder in bulk I am starting crops and will be doing an oil run soon for jerky. Don't have power yet but soon enough.

  9. Continued with project anky and I'm now up to five melee mutations and four weight. I've also got a bunch more colour mutations, some I save in case I can make some funky colour combos (I promised (or threatened) my tribemate I would give her a rainbow coloured super-anky, and she'll get one). I have so many more than what I've taken screenshots of, like three different versions of purple, pink, white, green etc., but I thought it could be more fun showing them off when I have a complete set on one anky. This was a double mutation I got (in the wrong stats, naturally), so I didn't keep it but it looked funky: These two I kept for possible use in the rainbow anky (more blue than purple I think, it's a bit difficult to tell at times, because of the surrounding colours): Other than that, I got rid of a bunch of rexes, due to the updated model changing the colours on them. It felt a bit sad getting rid of colour combos I've had for one-two years, but if I think they look like garbage, then there's absolutely no reason to keep them. Also, I spawned in a tamed creature for the first time. I felt I wanted a flyer smaller than my wyvern and I wanted to check out the new argent model, so I spawned one in. I must say, I LOVE the new argents, they look so majestic compared to before (only thing bothering me are the tail coverts - it feels like they're end too soon making the tail look very long). I thought he needed a fitting name to go with his impressive statue, so I named him Squak: The last two days, I haven't played much ARK per se, but I've played a lot of PixARK single player. As someone who loves ARK to bits despite all its flaws and who loved Minecraft back in the day, I was very interested when this game was announced. After watching some streams and youtube videos, my decision to hold off on buying it due to not trusting Snail Games that much (especially with how they're handling Dark and Light), crumbled. I really love it so far; it's like a mix of ARK, DnL and MC and the good bits at that. There are some issues, as expected this early in...erm...early access.., and we'll see how Snail handles the development, if they pull through on this one or not. I honestly believe the game has a lot of potential and hopefully, it'll be easier to handle for the devs as it's less complex than ARK I imagine. I'll just sneak some PixARK screenshots in here, nobody will notice. Me having tamed the two most essential creatures in PixARK; a firefly and a bunny: Here I am escorting my dodo home on my trusty steed (the "claptrap" in the background is a quest mailbox-thingy): Me, my ptera and my trusty head-warmer are out harvesting clay-cubes for my base when the sun rises (I'm trying to decide what I want to go with the stone I use, clay walls or sandstone walls): Plan for the holidays, is to alter between Aberration and PixARK (yep, all four of us who are still actively playing ARK got PixARK as well, we're such suckers all of us! ) and I can't wait to play this together with the others! Oh and we're definitely going to get some rock drake eggs when we're on Aberration. I've decided this, just now in fact, and the others will just have to accept it. Btw, please keep writing about your adventures in ARK. Even when I'm not playing myself, I always read about what you guys have been up to.

  10. Good if not kind of boring days this weekend in Ark though I did get a lot accomplished. Boss Fight: We ran and completed the Alpha Ragnarok fight this weekend. No losses. Big success. We had tested the fight strategy on beta, not sure if i covered that, and felt good enough to try it for real. Strategy: We split dino's between 3 tribes. I supply 7 including the Yuty normally. I supplied 7 but unclaimed two to each tribe to control. My tribe mate runs the Yuty and is a master at it. Also found that a higher food stat is good for a Yuty. It drains a lot when using it's roar. So I ran two mate boosted tank Rex's. 40k hp, 116 armor saddles. Initial salvo/Dragon fight. I stayed on the edge of arena and peppered the Dragon with an assault rifle. It made a big difference as you could see the hp just melt off its bar. With DOT damage it makes sense to keep the higher hp Rex's out of his fire. Then I turned my attention to the Manticore. staying on the edge i wasn't harassed by Dimoprh's, Ptera's or Griffins. Once the Golem's spawned in I went to work. I drug the tank Rex's around the arena eating rare flowers to bring the Golem's with me. I pulled all 6 of them over the hill into the River and just occupied them while my allies/tribe mate focused on the Manticore. Worked like a charm. Biggest thing was the infrequency of the Manticore's landing (perhaps a code that reduces potential times it will land is what makes it Alpha) but we still finished with about 14 minutes in the arena time. I now have all normal Ark tekgrams unlocked. Now I should stop hoarding that element and use some of it. lol. Rex program: With the completion of the Alpha fight and knowing the Rex's I have was plenty I shut down the Rex program. I killed off 16 breeders/mutation Rex's. I still have 19 fighters on rag, 15 fighters on the island, the main male breeder, the clean male breeder, and two clean female breeders as well as 3 bodyguard Rex's, and a fridge full of clean/potential top stat Rex eggs. I will be turning my attention to finishing up the Theri army and beginning the Megatherium project. Tames: Just a few things but nothing of signifigance. I ran around looking hard for Megatheriums for 2 days now. I've knocked out several but haven't found one to tame yet. I have found a new love for giant bear traps as taming tools though. Surprisingly all the sloth areas have space enough (lack of pillars) to lay down a few. I usually stack 6 or 7 in an area, dart the sloth (or bear or Yuty) into coming at me and getting constantly stuck and dart them enough that they turn and high tail it before they even get to me initially. i need to figure out something for the chase as i did lose a 145 bear in redwood (i found him 6 hours later and finished knocking him out. garbage) and a 130 sloth (I was desperate for a decent level after 2 hours of killing 85's and lowers) over by the beaver dams between viking bay and the canyon. That 130 was irksome because I had led it into a full enclosed trap by a small outpost i have there so i am not sure how it got out. i redesigned the trap afterwards so hopefully it works right next time. I did tame two 140 frogs, male and female. Nothing too great but I wanted another method to get CP. Frogs are fun. in a moment of leisure last night i hopped around with one that had 315 melee (at the time) and knocked out 3 Scorpions and a Raptor as well as had a Megalodon on the run until I killed it. Frog does too much damage to knock out a Saber though. I don't see me using it as a normal taming mount but it's just fun to hop around sometimes. I won't be using it like that once the raptor TLC hits though. I also knocked out a 150 Baryonyx. I didn't tame it as it didn't have good stats but they are still on the list of dino's to tame and I considered taming it just for that reason. in the end lack of the proper kibble kept me from doing it which is fine as it I had already deviated with the frogs. I need to bring back up my list of dino's yet to tame but it has to be around 30 left at this point. Raising: It was hatch day! That's a bit sloppy looking but I think the gist is gotten. i hatched a ton of Quetzal, Yuty, Argy, and a few Theri eggs. No Quetzal's or Argy's got what I was looking for (Argy parameters are a male with the 1300 stamina and 768 weight or a weight mutation, Quetzal is a stamina or weight mutation) and most of the Yuty's followed suit as well. I only hatched Theri eggs from the top male and the 1710 stamina female (wild tame) I acquired in a trade. I kept a Theri that got the 1710 stamina, it missed on the hp but it got a melee mutation. I now have 408 melee to breed into the line (I made a deal to acquire some 408 eggs as well. i'll hatch those tomorrow morning). Theri was at 75% when I came into work this morning. Yuty wise, I finally got the color combo with the stats I was looking for. This is an interesting story as well. So the Yuty with the white stripe/crest was from the Yellow Yuty I traded for a bit ago. It's essentially no longer my line. Bittersweet but i really wanted the colors on this one. The Yuty with the reddish brown stripe/crest is fro m my own line and it's own natural yellow mutation. It got a food mutation. This means I have the colors I seek and my own line still viable. That is great. Both are females so now I need to breed for a male. Yuty's currently stand at 10.3k hp, 2184 stamina, 331 melee and were at 49% when I came to work. Trades: I finally found someone with a pink stripe for the Yuty's. I traded a blue egg I received in a different trade. I'll reach out to her to make sure it hatches as promise and will give her my current full grown blue male if it is not. I have several eggs from him as it stands and while it looks nice I'm not overly concerned with having a blue line (lot of blue lines on the market). That is mostly it. I am set up to replace the eggs from the stamina Theri trade last week. She hatched them and for some reason they starved. She's going to give me a very nice white/gray combo egg as well as a cyan feather egg (region 0). I did some small on server trades in the form of BP's. I need to put those on the market here. I am also going to look for a few other stripe and face colors for the Yuty line. I want to try a few out though I think the pink will be killer. On the Docket; One day of work this week. Tomorrow morning I will hatch some more Quetz, Yuty, and Argy eggs as well as the 408 melee Theri eggs. I'll continue my Megatherium hunt. I will introduce my tribe mate to the island and the Megapithecus fight, some more Rag fights, and maybe start talking to my allies about an Ascension run. See ya next week.
