  1. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! The Community Crunch is where we share important things going on with ARK, as well as host contests and showcase creations made by the community! Let's get started with some news. Mysterious Mysteries: Introducing ??????? What an intriguing discovery survivors, can you guess what creature it is? Upcoming Turret Change Over the past few weeks, we have been carrying out analysis on our Official Servers to see where we can improve server performance and what the biggest difference is currently versus Early Access. Since ARK went retail, we were expecting to see our servers have better performance due to optimisations, better allocation and usage of hardware, and improved DDoS mitigation. What we have learnt is that there has been a dramatic change in how turrets are being used on Official Servers. The fundamental issue is that tribes are not only significantly increasing the number of turrets they use, but reducing the space they occupy, so the server is having to do more calculations in denser areas. In some cases, we've seen an increase of 7x versus the previous server-profiling data we had. It is clear that we need to make a change in regards to how turrets are placed, but we understand that they are an important part meta-game on Official PvP servers and therefore want to give you as much notice as possible. With the following change, we are expecting a performance increase of 50% on average for our Official Servers (extreme cases up to 300%) and this will have an impact on all maps. Starting from today on PC (and next week on console), you'll receive an update which indicates the number of turrets you have within 10k units. When you exceed 100 turrets within 10k units, there will be a warning placed on the turret to inform you, so you can make adjustments as necessary. On December the 5th, we will flick a switch on our Official Servers which will disable all turrets that exceed the allocated limit. You have the period from now until then to make any changes you want to avoid your turrets from being turned off. Once the turrets are within the permitted amount, they will function again. This patch will also allow the mounted minigun turret to shoot non-mounted tames, but reduce their range to be the equivalent of the auto turret. In accordance with this change, we will also be increasing the damage of autoturrets and TEK turrets by 20%, increasing the item slot count of autoturrets by 50% on the 5th of December. The turret limit will effect: Plant Species X, Autoturrets, and TEK Turrets. So remember, you'll see the visual change first and will have a couple weeks to prepare for the actual change which prevents turrets from being used over the limit. This is all enabled through a server-setting which can be used in the game.ini: TLDR: Turret usage had changed since the game went retail, it has been having a huge negative impact on the server. We will be introducing a limit to how many can be placed within a certain radius on the 5th of December. On PC a patch will be deployed today to inform you of the limit so you can make changes as necessary (and next week on console also). The change affects Plant Species X, Autoturrets, and TEK Turrets. We will also be buffing auto turrets, tek turrets, and minigun turrets. ARK Play Anywhere! This is just a brief update on ARK: Play Anywhere, as we know a lot of you are excited about it (as are we!). It will be entering final submission this week for Xbox One (OneX) and Windows 10. We are expecting to complete the cert process in December for a release alongside Aberration. Alongside this, we plan to launch some Official Servers which will support CrossPlay but will not be enabling it for our entire network, due to anti-cheat mitigations. Unfortunately, TruePlay is not quite ready yet but we are hopeful that BattlEye will be able to make it onto the platform, until then we won't be doing much crossplay on our Official Servers, however, players will have the option to enable crossplay on their servers, be it hosted on an Xbox, PC, or rented through Nitrado. ARK Sponsored Mod Update! It's that time of the month where we announce new mods entering the sponsored mod program! We've seen our fair share of maps, total conversions, rebalance, and creature mods but not often do we get to share mods that are tools that benefit other modders. This month we are excited to announce one of those mods, ArkFrame created by ZenRowe. This isn't the typical mod you might find yourself subscribing to because it doesn't actually contain end-user content. It is essentially a standardization library that modders can use. To most people browsing through the workshop, this wouldn't typically catch their eye. They are more likely to browse through the workshop and find they are already subscribed to it! Why is this mod important for the program and Ark? It will, in time, create an easier way for people to get into modding by standardizing some of the most common functions. ARK: 2x Evolution Event Weekend! Survivors across ALL Platforms will be receiving a special Evolution Event perk this weekend! It's already live now and will remain active until Monday the 20th at 12 PM EST. All Official Servers will be undergoing this evolutionary change which includes: 2x Harvesting Rate 2x Taming Rate 2x EXP Rate 2x Maturing 2x Hatching 2x Gestation 2x Faster Mating Interval Rates Community Contests! Compose shots from any position, adjust with post-process filters, capture HDR images in high-fidelity formats, and share the screenshots in 360 via a smartphone, PC or VR headset. There were 3 potential categories for survivors to enter their shots into and they were the following: Three Categories Super Resolution: These should be taken at 8x Super Resolution. Players can optionally use Depth of Field effects accessible in Spectator mode by pressing the [Delete] key. Panoramic 360 Stereoscopic 3D: These should be taken at 4x Super Resolution, in 360 Stereoscopic 3D mode. We will crop them to 2D for web display, while also providing the 3D version for viewing within VR display. Freeform: Any settings, whacky and creative use of Ansel filters are encouraged. Adding humorous titles/captions in Photoshop is also acceptable for this category! And now without further ado, here are your entries!   2. wow all the whiners have never seen what the server code looks like... you can change a ton of things to rebalance a situation like this with the turrets. what if the turrets gained more health? what if they dealt more dmg? these two settings alone could make them more effective than the lag towers that are being built all over. 1000 turrets do 100 dmg each with 1000 hp each? why not 100 turrets do 1000 dmg each with 10000hp each? fkn little kids QQing all over this forum lolz... that was just an example to help you understand math and how its applied to the game settings. They've created something with a balance you're so fond of, why wouldn't you give the new and improved math a chance before all this QQQQQQQ we're leaving QQQQQQQ bologna? now on to the devs.... gah 2 weeks no custom loot drops, public s+ teleporters, bugs everywhere still, aberration launch mystery.... quit giving me a headache! and i may not ever forgive you if you take s+ off the community page and don't allow orionsun to deliver the juicy goodness that is s+ in its current state(save the current bugs).

  3. You strike me as a PvE player. The cost of making C4s and rockets are less than building an actual base. There's a such thing as offline raiding. And you think having tames on neutral will help? All they have to do is kite them to where they can kill them above a cliff. 10k units that's 100 turrets within a radius of 67 foundations. Turrets on high shoot at 27 foundations. And if you say "spread them out" That leaves less room to defend. 2 C4 destroys a wall. So you lose more resources stacking walls than they would making c4 to get into your base. You make 4 walls thick, that's 100 metal that they can destroy with way less cost. Got a massive base? Too bad your autos can't cover the range to kill them. Oh, medium sized base? Well then you lose a lot of tames. You obviously don't know how PvP works. All they have to do is make a path way and they're in. 4 C4 charge for a metal behemoth gate. Go ahead, stack them and waste resources for your precious gates.

  4. Not sure if any of the devs will read this but worth a shot! Do you guys (Wildcard) plan on releasing an updated collectors dossier? Like, that includes all the creatures in DLC’s such as SE and Ab? Even if you release one AFTER all upcoming DLC’s with new creatures? Thanks!

  5. People cries because servers are laggy and unstable. They gather data and see that turrets are being overused and are draining performance. They makes adjustment. They also warn players and give them 2-3 weeks to revisit their defense. People are still crying. Conclusion, crybabies gonna cry and will never be happy no matter what. Did you miss the part where they said they were buffing their damage and amount of slot? So basically, you are gonna deals more damage per bullet meaning that you will have to grind less for same amount of damage dealt... do you like to grind bullets that much? How about you grind them for everyone? Congrats!!

  6. As usual I like reading through those but get disappointed not seeing how the cap issue and overcrowding of the official PVE servers will be dealt with #SaveTheArkNetwork
