    Hey, Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! We've got some critical news to share with you all today; it's going to be a roller coaster of emotions as there's a bit of disappointing news, but worry not as you've got a lot to look forward to as well! Let's address the mammoth in the room. Official Release. As of today, ARK has completed its Gold Master and certification for retail release. This process took a little longer than expected and as a result, our release date has been pushed back to August the 29th. We're deeply apologetic for those who were negatively affected by the delay; it sucks, it wasn't what we had wanted, nor planned but where we currently stand. We wanted to address this sooner but did not want to make any statements until we were completely sure of what was going to happen. Now you're probably wondering what this means for the next few weeks and how does it change our current plans? Free DLC: Ragnarok Ragnarok's new release date on console and upcoming PC update will now also be the 29th of August. This extended time will allow further development of the map and you guys can expect a gigantic update, even bigger than we initially thought. On the date of release, the overground of the world will increase by approximately one quarter, which is near-enough a 'TheIsland-sized' expansion; the update will feature new biomes, a coastal Wyvern canyon, an epic boss encounter, new engrams, and something secret the Ragnarok team are cooking up! We will also be adding their custom creatures to our main game, which will allow players to transfer them via the CrossARK system, so you'll be able to bring over your Ice Wyverns to The Island, The Center, and Scorched Earth! Development plans: immediate, mid-month, and going forward. Over the next few weeks, you will see a lot of priority placed on the PC and multiplayer versions of the game, now that we're completely wrapped up with our gold master. We are planning some immediate patches to take care of community concerns, as well as some mid-month goals and more going forward. First of all, there will be a lot of focus on PC Performance this month (don’t worry console-users, you’ll be receiving these updates too!). We will be porting over a lot of the improvements we made on console, as well as working with our industry partners to bring up that PC performance to get you the best possible experience. Secondly, we will be immediately (as I type this the engineers and gameplay programmers are working on the update) showing some love to these aspects of the game: Multiplayer Bosses; let's face it, they're ridiculous, we know why and we're going to fix it. You'll soon be able to enter the boss arenas and fight bosses at reasonable difficulty, it'll still be a challenge, just no longer a monumental/near-impossible task. The Baby-to-Juvie-Stasis issue; that's also getting fixed. For those not familiar, this is the problem where baby-creatures are entering stasis which (sort of) prevents them from ageing, and therefore they're not eating from troughs which result in death. The Center & Under the Mesh; we're going to be implementing a technical solution to stop jerks from going under the map and raiding people. This one will take a little bit longer, but we'll have it in as soon as possible. That's not all though! We will be releasing a major version update in the middle of the month which will significantly assist with DDoS mitigation, resolve the exploit which has allowed players to dupe, and of course not to be forgotten, but allow players to rent PC-dedicated Console Servers! We're also going to create an option to stop creatures from following you with their big heads (we'd do this one sooner, but it requires a major version update, so we thought it best come with the other significant changes mentioned above :p). Not to mention, we'll be taking care of server crash-exploits as and when they happen, working on server performance so that you will have a smoother and stable experience. Thank you so much for your patience the past few months and all the support! We will make sure that ARKs launch is a successful one and the game is in a healthy state. It's going to be a hectic few weeks ahead, and we're very excited! We still have a lot more planned for ARK, and even after release, the journey will continue!     Update: There have been a few posts regarding the release date and why some retailer sites are displaying a different date to what we initially announced. This is because We're currently working on getting the game through PlayStation 4 Certification at the moment (as all platforms will need to release simultaneously). As soon as we've got a definitive update to the release date, we'll let you know officially. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey, Survivors! We’ve got important and exciting news to share! First of all, we’ve finally completed our game for the console disc retail submission! It was a very long and arduous process, our boss fight or so to say, and your feedback throughout this process has been highly valuable. It was a very tight deadline to make the ship date, and the team has been intensively grinding through singleplayer-oriented refinements for the posterity of the disc-based version. All that aside, we were able to resolve many issues, as well as considerably improve the game through various changes and implementation of new techniques and it’s now time to move onto refocus our development efforts on the live game, as well as address some key topics within the community: Will the Official Servers be wiping? Short answer: No -- but read the long answer! We had previously released a statement a year ago informing players that our Official Servers would not be wiping on the retail launch of the game. We’ve thought long and hard about the decision, taking into consideration the various points brought up by the community, the internal members of the team, as well as the general discussion that has taken place on the internet through various press/media outlets and will be sticking to our initial decision. It is clear that some group of players are for the wipe for, and some are against it, all for legitimate reasons; and we took it all into account. We ultimately decided that we would not wipe and we would rather pay the cost to launch an additional new PvP and PvE Server Cluster network (alongside but separate from the current PvP and PvE Legacy Cluster), where players will get to have a fresh experience on the ARK; across all four maps with no influence from any of the previous servers. At that time we'll be rolling out the new server code and infrastructure necessary to prevent critical issues such as server crashing exploits, duping, and DDoSing, so they will not affect the batch of new servers (as well as the legacy ones, going forward). Our current set of Official Servers will be rebranded as “Legacy” and indicated as such on all platforms. We will also be taking steps to remove some of our ‘ghost town’ servers, where the player population has remained near-zero for an extended duration of time. We’ll take a look at the statistics and will be repurposing 10% of the lowest count servers across all platforms. Once we know which servers these are; we'll preserve the save files and upload them, so if you so wish to use them, you can. Players will also have time to move through Cross-ARK to a different secure Legacy server. Every three months we will be taking a review of the Legacy Officials to see what the numbers are like and may consider repurposing more ‘ghost towns’, however, the goal will be to preserve any place with human activity. To be clear, if you're playing on a Legacy Server you will not be able to transfer to the new Official servers and Legacy servers will still receive total and complete support (just like the New Officials) in regards to Game Updates and future ARK Expansions, so you can expect to see future DLC servers added to the Legacy Cluster. Ragnarok: Console debut and development The new official release date for the Ragnarok Free DLC on consoles will be on the 8th of August when ARK launches for retail release. The team spent time discussing when would be the best time to release the map, for both technical reasons, as well as the experience itself, and this was the chosen date. We understand that some may find this news frustrating as you’ve waited a long time for the map, however after conferring for quite a while on the topic, we believe this is the best decision for the map’s arrival on console as; First of all, it allows the Ragnarok Developers to get the latest version of the Dev Kit and incorporate our latest changes to the game, which will have a significant impact on the console experience concerning performance, visual fidelity, and stability. Secondly, by focusing our technical workforce on the other aspects of the game (in addition to Ragnarok) such as server stability, crash exploits, duping, DDoS, we will be able to ensure a much smoother experience for when the map is available. Finally, with our recent decision in regards to whether there will be a wipe or not, this seems like the smartest decision, to avoid this awkward situation of where servers that have only just been online for a couple of weeks become legacy. The new date will also result in the map debut on console will be much farther ahead in its development than the map that was initially released on PC as the Ragnarok Developers have carried out a significant number of bug fixes, QOL changes on the map, and more! We will be doing a PC patch soon to upgrade to the latest version of the map (which is available in the Steam Workshop for Unofficial Servers!) so that you guys will also be able to enjoy their improvements! PlayStation 4 Update! It’s happening! Yes, we’re serious. We’re currently working on the latest PS4 patch with Abstraction at the moment, and while it’ll be tough, we should be set to release it this Friday (probably going to be a late evening patch). We’ll keep you posted how that goes! Thank you guys for being so patient with us over the past few weeks, we understand how frustrating it is not to receive updates, but now we are wrapped up with certification and this tight deadline, we’ll be able to go back to our standard development pipeline and therefore include you with our updates Console PC-Hosted Servers Yup, you heard it. As of the 8th of August, we will finally have support for PC hosted dedicated servers on console. We won’t be renting or hosting them ourselves, it isn’t a commercial venture for us, but we will be doing the technical work needed to get this underway. Initially, they will be available via Nitrado! (It’ll come to other third party hosts once we go through this initial technical-iteration phase, as we want to ensure its stability). These servers will be available on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and if you haven’t realised, here’s why this is so awesome: No need for a second console to host private servers! Complete access to all of ARKs custom server config settings, which will let players change the rules on their custom ARKs The option to create cross ARK Clusters for the ultimate ARK Experience -- allowing travel across four Maps Create a backup of server save files, allowing players to try something new without the fear of losing data The servers will result in higher performance due to better optimisation Player servers will now be able to support a larger pool of players, up to 100 concurrent users! At a later date, these will also be Play Anywhere compatible! For those of you wondering about repurposed console Legacy Official Servers, you will be able to take the save file and set up an Unofficial Server using this. Nitrado will be contacting those who show interest in console servers on the 8th of August via email, you can notify them here: http://nitra.do/arkconsole Let them know if you are keen, so they can properly estimate demand! Development Kit! Oh modders, how we love you so much, we hope you can forgive us for the delay and understand as developers yourselves our reason for doing so. Fortunately, we come bearing good news! Jeremy is prepping the latest version of the Dev Kit right now (literally!) and we will have it available to download later today via GitHub, and soon after that via the Unreal Launcher when we are confident in its stability. You’ll be able to keep up with the latest information on the Unreal Forums in regards to any relevant/cool changes! That should be what we wanted to discuss for today.     You know, I was joking when I said that you guys wouldn't meet this deadline (what with you guys not meeting previous deadlines far more often than you make them) in a recent video I did. Now? Now I'm not convinced it was completely a joke. I may have been serious. No optimization announcements, no fixes for common crash issues, and now because you guys can't do something as simple as a certification (and, you know, make sure your ducks are in a Goddamn row before making an announcement as substantial as this) you may not make your debut? Welcome to the garbage tier, enjoy your stay. Even if you do make it, the fact you have to post this is enough to solidify your stay.

    Reality overdose in this topic. i feel you guys, I really do. My tribe is in the same boat. No motivation of progress further on our legacy server because we want to start fresh on launch. we are refreshing base and feeding our Dino's to keep them as a backup in case the new servers end up like ragnarok' release. We all know the nightmares that map has brought to players and continues to do. we are keeping our options open and at the same time like mentioned above scouting out new locations and practising for being naked and afraid again on the new clusters.

    I'm with you, most ppl I know who played on officials/non-dedi are now just casually playing SP until release. With all these sudden patches/rollbacks/dead babies/duping/and lost characters from transfers, it's leaving people uneasy.

    Seriously? 2 years of waiting and we now have to wait for the ps4 cert ? 8.8 was the definitive date, and bc ps4 may/May not pass cert, the rest of the users have to wait? It's not a patience issue at this point....

    The current Xbox One wouldn't be able to handle mods such as Bush people. Xbox One X on the other hand might be able to. This mod even have some high-end spec rigs struggling. A shovel is smarter than the NPCs in Conan Exiles..

    Yes you'll pay a monthly fee for the servers based on how many slots you pick. Our decision hasn't been set in stone regarding a new PvE cluster, it's a possibility, but for now the team feels it isn't necessary.

    Xbox: - Please put the host tether distance option back into console, its impossible to play anymore, my friends and I have considered to stop playing because of it! - Items sorting at bottom instead of top - Serious lag when killing baby dinos - Non-dedicated host, players are just floating heads - Supply drop and fishing quality setting doesn't change anything, still getting compass blueprints and no change in quality compared to PC All of these issues I can deal with, except for the removal of the host tether option, I have really good internet capabilities so I can host a non-dedicated session with little to no lag. So I host when my friends and I play, its really fun where we could all work on separate jobs to better the base, but now we might quit playing because they can't go anywhere without me having to be right next to them, I read the tweet Jen sent about the option being removed, but we had no problems with the tether being extended when it was an option, it made it fun and easy to play, if this doesn't get changed, I'm sorry to say but we might quit playing because of this change, we all love this game and would hate to quit. Please do everything in your power to fix or change the option, other than that, we love ARK!

    Hi Jat, trying to contact you on here as for few days we didn't have a reply on the ticket system. We are the alpha tribe, for some reason every structure and dino changed to a different tribe. Everyone is still on the genuine tribe and that new tribe is just a ghost with no one inside created by the game. We have a tribe member called like the new ghost tribe but he is still in the old one with us. We didn't merge or anything, it only happened when the tribe owner was alone online and went to another server to sell some stuff. Once he went back to our server everything was with a different owner. Please we need to recover our tribe, we are like 20 or 25 regular players and everyone on that server knows us and we are allies. Thanks in advance

    That is extremely disappointing that we will not be able to transfer to the new "official servers" on ragnorok or any non-legacy servers, regardless of being official. That absolutely sucks and truly disappoints and discourages my gameplay. It's Disappointment because many people would like to check out the new map plus exclusive new animals, but won't even be able to transfer said new animals if they wish to return back to their old server. Let's be realistic, the new servers coming out for Ragnorok will be a lag fest. There is a guarantee of server crashes left and right. I'm from PVE and always PVE, as PVP is not something I enjoy on Ark. So not being able to cross transfer is disappointing. I know many people have been preparing to transfer to Ragnorok more permanently, but they are in a surprise to see that all their preparation and wait will be nothing. You guys have put so much hope and excitement into this new map and you've only disappointed, especially for XBOX platform as it's pushed back further with no date, again. So what's the real appeal, few new animals and some changes? Not really worth what you've put your customers through. I would have rather you guys just wipe "ghost town" servers and call it a day. Why did you have to throw in no cross transfer? Because if you can allow cross transfer from Scorched Earth to The Island or the Center, then why exclude Ragnorok?

    NO NEW PVE CLUSTER? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?? I just want to get a fresh start on PVE away from the cheaters, man.. What the hell is wrong with you guys.. So your new players have to play PVE with TONS of people who cheated.. That's great Jat. Just great.. Not.
