Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! The Community Crunch is where we share important things going on with ARK, as well as host contests and showcase creations made by the community! Let's get started with some news. Pre-Orders and Limited Collector’s Edition! In case you missed our E3 news, ARK has it's official release date, August 8, 2017! Along with our official release comes the opportunity to pre-order and get yourself a limited collector's edition of ARK, which comes with a whole bunch of goodies shown in the picture above. Read more at the link below: ARK: Evolution Event Weekend! Survivors across ALL Platforms will be receiving a special extended Evolution Event for the release of Ragnarok! It's already live now and will remain active until Monday the 19th at 12PM EST. All Official Servers will be undergoing this evolutionary change which includes: 1.5x Harvesting Rate 1.5x Taming Rate 1.5x EXP Rate Reminder: this 1.5x bonus is on top of the 2x rates that are now standard on our official servers! Sponsored Mod Program Update! When we initiated the Sponsored Mod Program, we hoped to bring more free content to console and PC players alike. We understand how important modding is to the gaming community and the overall health of a game. The history of modding in game development goes back to the 1980's and the first development kit for modding, The Boulder Dash Construction Kit, was released around the same time. While modding has always been popular, some see modders as the unsung heroes of video game development. Recognition for modding and the modders who create content for the game in the past has mostly been few and far between. That's why it's exciting to release content, like Ragnarok, so content creators are recognized and valued for their efforts. The Ragnarok team has handled the transition from sponsored mod to official content like pros! There's an added expectation and increased pressure when you become official content for the game. Not to mention, getting a PC mod optimized and running on a console is no easy feat. Collaboration between professional developers and hobbyist is something the gaming industry could benefit from in this day and age. This partnership will often increase the overall quality of mods which, in turn, helps the developers as well. When game developers support high-quality mods for a game, it means there is no loser. The modders win, the consumers win, and the developers win. I know the Ragnarok team is excited with this recent launch and we look forward to bringing you more content in the future! Speaking of new content, we've found another talented modder that we are looking forward to bringing into the Sponsored Mod Program. Many of you may know Impulse, a seasoned modder for ARK. Even if you don't know him, you may be using a mod he's an author of. Ever heard of the Capitalism series of mods? If not, you should go check it out! The Capitalism series is a collection of mods that adds a currency system, among other things. You can then use that currency to do a host of things like offer bounties for players or complete trades. More recently, Impulse has surprised us all with his latest mod, PG Role Selector. This mod allows admins to configure roles which restrict players to a specific set of engrams. We see this being particularly popular with the ARK roleplay community. Be sure to look out for Workshop Wednesday, where I'll be sharing more of the things that are going on behind the scenes of the Sponsored Mod Program. Until then! - Wildcard Ced Community Contests! Player Procedurally Generated Maps! The Procedurally Generated Map system allows players to make their own ARK maps by determining a myriad of landscape options from the heights of mountains, depths of valleys, and the number of lakes, rivers or oceans, to the kinds of each biome they want, and more! Let's check out the entries for this weeks contest! This week's contest winner is... roguewolf! i was wondering if Griffins not having a gender was a bug or uncompleted part? I ask because they also do have a tool tip picture just a blank white square. These creatures are so enjoyable that i would very much like to see Griffin breeding. With their regions i can already imagine some very amazing color region mutation.

Possible Solutions: Make the dino cap about 40 dinos total per account, even if you're playing on multiple servers. Limit the number of structures you can build on a map. Limit the area of the space you can build on. Like for example, you can only have x amount of structure pieces within y square feet. Areas around spawn points are programmed so only players under level 10 can place objects there. A little further out, level 15 and under, like rings around the spawn areas. Builds would be temporary and once you leveled beyond the max level of that area, your build would demolish.

Lived in Suzhou which is just west of Shanghai for 18 months and did a lot of my work in Shanghai and south of Beijing proper (weeks on and off at a time). The people are generally that bad, most notably the younger generation. In school with them it's all about competition and they largely have no problem-solving skills, cant think on their own and don't know what critical thinking are. They spend all their time memorizing. That's it, they just memorize for the GaoKao which is the only test they take which says whether they get into university or not. When in, it's the same thing, memorize for 3 tests. When home all they do is play games when not memorizing stuff and follow streamers. Their mentality is sort of like worker ants and the streamer is the queen. It's eerily like that and when you deal with them in public, if you speak in English, they treat you properly and if they don't ignore you, they say things within a facade. Luckily I speak Mandarin and when you hear them in their native language, it's some of the most f#cked up stuff you hear. I liken them to locusts, they compete, destroy, consume and move on. It's seen in video games as well which is why I tend to favor region locking with them as a country.

Wasnt my point, my point was someone telling everyone here that there is an "easy" solution for a problem where he doesnt even know a single thing about the underlying problems/technology. Thats just pathetic.

maybe not for every single country but for Europe as a whole. most important is, to lock the chinese on their own servers.

Oooh devs why did you do that to me After 2.8k hours of play time i was finally at the end of my interest in the game and the biggest reason was the time consumed playing this game So i stopped playing for about 2 weeks. Then i saw the latest update: Ragnarok map with wyverns and thought.. nice, if i ever restart it'll be on that map.... then reading further i saw it: new creature GRIFFIN. Now that right there is my all time favorite phantasy creature (hence my gaming name ). Conclusion..... My break was a very short one, i have now started a new single player game on ragnarok and i must say i have found the perfect spot. Highlands north, that beach is huge and flat, it has beached whales giving keratin, hide, spoiled meat and a trickle of oil. On the left there is the lava region which houses crystal (and megalania...) and on the right are the highlands with metal, sheep and horses (but also allosaurs which are not far from my base...). And to top it all off, the seafloor drops almost immediately so a water pen is definitely possible here. I'm loving this map, great resource distribution, very nice scenery and SE and normal engrams. My thanks to the devs and the creator of this great map. Ow and a little note from my wife "i hate you all for keeping my husband tied to this game..."

R.I.P resources, officially have none left on my island
  10. 1 point
This isn't a perfect solution but how about something like: All small structures (1x1, 1x2) now decay 10x faster around all mountains regardless if they are a building with walls, ceiling, and door frame or not, and now take 6x damage. This also would affect pillars and solo placed foundations. All solo placed, stacked pillars, or single foundations can not be placed unless a tribe structure is in proximity of it. So you literally have to build a base in a certain area (like a 2x2 or bigger) in order to try and pillar spam or foundation spam, as well as keep track of the affected radius if you want to cover an entire mountain properly (this radius/proximity it allows can also be as big or small as you want). All stacked pillars in a certain close radius of a base will allow normal decay timers. This will allow resources to still spawn and not block creature spawns, but also protect the immediate area around your base. So basically what needs to happen is something more complicated that makes it more of a pain in the butt to block more important resources.

Hello fellas , So what do you guys think about the new pillar timers ? Do you think that its good or bad ? I personally think it serves in many purposes and changes how the game was played, New players can place campfires and build after spawning without having to run across the whole map now , Big tribes can't pillar half the map . How ever these new changes also have a big impact on how the game was played before , Resource spawns and Dino spawns used to be pillared by big tribes which was a good thing but no one can stop newbies from building on metal spawns now can someone ? Of course an alternative would be here soon but why not now ? Drop down your opinions on what would be an alternative to collecting metal on your servers once all metal spawns or most of them are destroyed ? The same goes for Dino spawns , I can't seem to find "much" wild life while on the new Ragnarok servers since people want to claim land and they are using foundations for it , this effects breeding drastically considering how much babies eat . Replies and suggestions to get past these problems are appreciated since on my server metal spawns are started to get destroyed and the same has happened with Dino spawns because people are using foundations instead of pillars . Cheers , Bob Marley

This will cause more dmg then good, now people will place foundations that will block all resources and dino spawn. Sometimes I wonder how do you come up with those bad solutions.
  13. 1 point
I totally agree ! You NEED to implement "no build zones" on rare ressources spawns on PVE servers if you reduce the decay timer of pillars !
  14. 1 point
This is both good and bad. Good because the rag servers were overrun with pillars, but bad because on PVE pillars are the only way to stop nubs from ruining the server with foundations on metal spawns. This change should go hand in hand with a no build zone change within a certain radius of resources spawns like metal, crystal, obsidian and the like.
  15. 1 point
NA-PVE servers are full already! That took all of 3 hours! Really, only 3 Ragnarok Servers? What a tease!

Would be a nice feature if you could hold your breath to make sniper shots much easier, and it will slowly consume oxygen. will we ever get something like that? would be pretty useful.

The tek helmet is great, but is there any chance that we will see binoculars or a variable zoom scope in the future? Keen for some sort of upgraded spyglass.

This can be done with ark-tools tribes --creatures --tribeless --pretty /path/to/savegame.ark /path/to/output/folder/ The savegame file and all .arktribe files have to be in the same directory. This will get you a list of all dinos for all tribes (and people without a tribe count for the "tribeless" tribe).

Any chance we'll see that Gorgonopsid mentioned way way back in the beginning of development coming to the game? I'm tired of waiting for a dossier.

Can you add a dino that releases pheromones/gives buff to nearby dinos to mate faster? Maybe by either altering the oviraptor to not only increase egg rates but also increase the mating rate (not the cooldown timer, but the progress bar to laying an egg/gestation)? This aspect was honestly my favorite part about Valentine's day event buff, because our server lags so much that the normally long mating progress bar is unbearably long (4 minutes was my longest counted one) and speeding it up in general would help the die-hard breeders like me not go slowly insane love you guys!

Can we get ghillie skins for longneck rifles? Also can we get Compound crossbows for a better version of the cross bow? And lastly can you add an over under double barrel shotgun to bridge the gap between shotgun and the pump action shotgun?

Could we have a little more flexibility with the collisions system for building? As you can see in the picture it really does not take much to ruin your design ideas.

Will we be getting a "breeding and life-cycle system" for our insects/arachnids?

The tek spyglass sounds dope. Would love to see it added!

The server is 6 hours old. You can't be around your tribe without infecting them. Can't tame without infecting them. Can't farm for this "special blood" without dying before you can even try. The fact of the matter is that people weren't infected by leeches on Scorched Earth, they BROUGHT the infection over from another map... If you are on Xbox and have Scorched Earth go check out any servers...everyone is complaning beacuse everyone is just running around purposely infecting people.
