  1. Exciting news Survivors! The Dragon makes its debut in ARK: Survival Evolved on it’s Birthday Week as players can now face off the mighty beast and it's fearsome flyer minions in their epic treacherous volcanic lair! Patch 242 also introduces additional tribe member settings, a training dummy, diseases and cures, interactive baby raising, two new creatures, the Dilplodocus, the Leech and so much more! On Thursday, the 2nd of June, ARK: Survival Evolved will officially turn One Year Old! Exciting right?! Already a year has gone by and we’d like to celebrate that with you by running a special one-week “ARK Birthday Event” where players can find Candles from Supply crates to craft ARK Birthday Cakes! When each candle is blown out, a special message to the players occur and exclusive items are gifted, including: Player and Dino Party Hats, Fun “Birthday Suits” (censor-pixelization of course ;)), and finally, as everyone knows there’s no party without a cake - a giant ARK Anniversary Birthday Cake which can be consumed for a major XP Buff! Despite being one of the island’s larger creatures, Diplodocus Insulaprincep is among the Island’s smaller sauropods which allow it to offer maximum speed and greater endurance compared to its giant brethren! After taming, many tribes equip the beast with a large saddle which allows the Diplodocus to carry as many as 10 passengers! These passengers often use ranged weapons to protect the creature and attack nearby enemies while on the move. Diplodocus has shown to be a strange creature due to it’s overly trusting nature, which has proven to be quite detrimental to its life. It usually doesn’t flee from predators until after they’ve attacked it repeatedly, preferring instead to make numerous fruitless attempts at friendship. For some strange reason, Diplodocus trust humans so much that it doesn’t seem to fight back against them, ever! The Leech is one of the more detestable creatures of the island. The disease-carrying blood-sucker, Haementeria Iaetus has practically no intelligence, and merely attaches to any nearby living flesh in an attempt to drain that creature’s blood. Not tamable, the Leech does not provide much of a resource for any tribe, though some have been known to keep them around in order to create antidotes: When process carefully, Haementaria venom can be made into powerful anti-venom! Removing Haementeria requires precision bladework, or access to an open flame! Both can be nearly as dangerous to the host as to the leech itself. Once the Leech attaches to a host, its drain blood at a rapid pace, and the host will suffer from hunger, loss of health and reduced stamina. Some Haementeria are also carriers for a dangerous disease known as ‘Swamp Fever’, which persists permanently beyond the Leech’s own lifespan. Alongside the special event and the new creatures, players will be able to take advantage of the new structure: Training Dummy which will display floating Damage Per Second values indicating how strong each dino attack actually is, while the new mechanic, Permanent Diseases & Cures, will enable players to deliberately infect Dodos to use them as Disease Vectors! If you get a permanent disease, it persists even beyond respawn and you will need to cure it with an antidote using the blood of the leeches! And now for all the juicy details about today's patch! Dragon Arena & Dragon Boss Fight Breeding Mechanics Phase 2: Interactive Baby Raising (cuddle with your Dino babies, pet, walk, and hand-feed them for extra benefits and greater affinity for whoever raised them once they grow up!) Optional RPG Stat Mode: Displays floating in-world damage numbers for all Player-Related Damage Events. Added 'Follow Range' (Low/Medium/Far) Setting Per Tamed Dino Added option for PvE Servers to disable building around critical resource node regions Added server option to override per-Item Crafting costs Added server option to override the loot tables for each kind of supply crate Added server option to limit number of members in Tribes. Default: no limit. Multi-Seat Saddles (Galli, Diplodocus, etc). Dinos now have an option to enable public seating. Dino Taxi service, ahoy! Servers can now optionally enable an "offline raiding prevention" mode which will make Dinos/Structures invincible if no owner is logged-in (indicated via the head whether the owner player/tribe is logged-in or not). Recommend that server owners utilize this with care, as it may have undesired side effects in a competitive environment Tribe Groups Phase 2: Support for Limited Non-Admin Invites and promotions/demotions per group! Also "Prevent Dino Unclaiming" checkbox, and other new per-rank options Added Alpha Mosasaurus (contains lots of Black Pearls) Alpha creatures XP reduced by 45% Auto-Turrets can no longer be built on Quetz/Sauro/Mosa/Plesi/Paracer platforms (Plant turrets can't be grown on them). Any existing turrets on such platforms will no longer fire. Otherwise they're now only allowed on Rafts and non-moving Bases. Plant Turrets now consume Fertilizer per shot, and also will not shoot if no water is in the crop plot. Approximate +100% increase to Sauropod and Paraceratherium respective Weight stats. So it’s a big one guys! We hope you have a fantastic time with the update and enjoy the special event, we are so grateful for all the support you show us and hopefully we’ll be able to celebrate many more special occasions together, in our Birthday Suits! All the best, Wildcard Jat and the ARK: Survival Evolved Team

  2. Those Leeches are the final straw. We officially need a flamethrower (That uses gasoline as ammo)! Burn baby burn!

  3. This patch was horrible to me and everyone who dared to trust wildcard and were inside the biome changes area. We took the time to grab and pack our stuff and dinos, move outside of the zone in a temporary location to setup back inside the new biome, on most official servers good spots are taken already and unless you want to war someone while all your weak dinos are in a horribly protected area. Your pretty much ****. We took the time to be sure our stuff would be ready for the 30, some of us more than other but we did it. I personally destroyed my year old base / moved all the half of the mats i got back for it, back to my temporary location. Thats hundreds thousands weight worth of construction material. Knowing wildcard, obviously we expected some delay or last minute update to the patch notes, so we kept refreshing the official patch notes topic. Making sure biome change would happen before we finalised destructions. Then 2 days delay, ok, but biome is still in here so its fine, we were ready for that, wildcard never release on time so no surprise there. Will just have to stay logged on every waking hour to make sure that if someone do raid the place, ill know who did it (renaming tribe / dino is rather common and easy way to hide yourself in offline raid). Then at the end of that 2 days delay, a forum post pop up, about a rumor that biome change are not going in.... check the patch notes, nope still here and patch notes were updated an hour ago, were safe... Then someone link that twitter 7 hours later, an obscure reply to someone talking about a baby dino and asking a question on the side on twitter... a reply by none other than jen, the same jen who own the official patch notes topic. more than 10 hours after that twitter reply was made, they finally update the patch notes and remove the biome update from it.. pushing it not 2-3 more days, not 1 week, not even 2 weeks. 3 whole weeks. Me and everyone who were planning on rebuilding their main base inside the new biome are now stuck with a decision. We either waste half of half our base material to build a proper temporary base that can survive raids to an extent (using all the mats we got from demoing our main base), in a subpar location and then when biome update finally show up in a month (lets be realistic here, its not gonna be on june 22 will it ?). We get to demo out base all over again, repack whats left of it (now 25% of our main base initial material) and use that to restart a proper base in a location we actually like. Or we gamble on the fact noone will profit of the fact we are horribly crippled and filled to the brim with materials to raid and take everything (which im sure many will do). Now youd think, well wildcard must at least be doing something about it right ? Welp, who knows with the communication were getting they could just all be dancing and drinking right now, well never know. A simple were sorry it was our fault (because it was, theres no beta or early access or alpha excuse here, if they cant communicate now, they wont ever be able to communicate, an official launch wont change that). Would already be infinitely better than the complete silence weve had. Ideally some form of compensation since most of us stuck in this situation cant even play now or for the next 3 weeks, were stuck on guard duty or lose everything. Let alone participate in that event, or try to enjoy the new baby interaction stuff.

  4. I know what you mean. I'd love events on the Xbone myself, but the problem with that is that every single update for the Xbone version has to go through Microsoft's QA cert. They don't have to go through all that stuff for the PC version, which makes hosting events like this on the PC a lot easier. If they were to do it for the Xbone, the events would most likely not make it on time due to Microsoft's QA cert, and that would make hosting, for example, seasonal events pointless, as Microsoft's QA is super slow. Plus, they don't even work weekends. Perhaps once all the event stuff has been ported over, we could do it, but that'll take a while i reckon. They could enable some of the event things for player hosted Xbone servers so we, the admins, can host our own events, though!

  5. Actually they didn't "tell" Inquisitr, it was mentioned on a live Twitch Stream with some of the Devs. Inquisitr got it from that Stream, so they weren't privy to any more information than the player base that were watching the Stream too.

  6. Unfortunately, as stated by TheRightHand on Reddit, Wildcard doesn't foresee themselves getting any better at the whole communication thing. They're just too busy from what I read. Sucks, but that's just the way the ball bounces.

  8. I actually still play Zoo Tycoon, maybe once a year. After my zoo gets super successful, I block off the exit and let the animals free.

  9. Did everyone catch this tidbit in the latest Community Crunch? Primitive+ Dev is expecting an August launch for his mod on consoles.
