This weekly screenshot competition asks players to take in-game photographs from either ARK: Survival Evolved or our new desert themed expansion pack ARK: Scorched Earth using NVIDIA Ansel, and meet the category requirements listed below.

Winners will be announced during ARK’s regular “Community Crunch” blog post. Each winner (3) will receive $100 each. Want to enter? ARK-Ansel screenshot entries should be e-mailed to anselcontest@studiowildcard.com

If you need a place to upload a file for the contest, make use of Wetransfer which will allow up to 2gb for free! :)

Ansel is a revolutionary new way to capture in-game shots.  Compose a shot from any position, adjust with post-process filters, capture HDR images in high fidelity formats, and share the screenshots in 360 via a smartphone, PC or VR headset. Learn more about these features in the Ansel Technology page and the NVIDIA blog.

How to run NVIDIA Ansel

First of all, you'll want to make sure you're running the latest Nvidia Geforce Drivers - so head over to http://www.geforce.com/ and get downloading!

Once setup and ready to go, right click ARK: Survival Evolved in your steam library and you'll see the option to Launch ARK with NVIDIA Ansel

Select this and head into a single player game, regardless of the map or the mod. Once you're in game, you can immediately press ALT + F2 to get into Ansel Photography mode and start taking snaps.

or you can type in the following command in the console:

cheat enablespectator

Once that is enabled, hit your DELETE key and it'll open the Depth of Field Options menu where you can play around with the games DOF.

Then hit ALT+F2 and take some awesome Ansel photography!

Here's a little tip from Jesse:

You can also type "enablespectator true" in the console to fly around before you take your shot, and hit the "Home" key to level your camera if you want to keep people from feeling sick on a 360 stereo VR screenshot. ;)

ARKitect!

This is an award given to Survivors to celebrate the amazing structures you build. These bases are judge based upon a number of different factors such as their creativity, uniqueness, how fun of a base it is, the difficulty of building it, the functionality it provides and much more! At the end of each week, the winners and runner ups will be featured in our #ARKitect section of the Community Crunch and will be awarded cash prizes!

Note: We've had a lot of requests regarding the use of mods - go for it! We'd love to see how mods have influenced your bases

Heads up, we're looking into an issue with Ansel right now as some players are unable to launch it correctly. Still going to leave the contest info up just in case people have old shots, but going to see what's up with this :).

I have a friend who had an issue with this. Restarting his computer seemed to fix it

My entry this time around is literally a labor of love.  The background music was composed and performed by my eldest daughter, so obviously audio quality was a primary concern for me.  Unfortunately my rig has decided to do it's best imitation of a popcorn popper for the last few days making it virtually impossible to actually hear how this one was coming together.  Of course, it only decided to start behaving itself (after some creative repairs) once the video was complete.  It seems my best guesses were fairly close to the mark and it's turned out fairly well I think, and has given me a whole new appreciation for hearing impaired artists who do this sort of work routinely... and make it look easy.

So without further ado, here is my entry this week.

Village in the Trees

As a blend of wildlife habitat and human village nestled high in the Redwoods treetops, Arboria is taking shape in the primordial world of ARK: Survival Evolved.  Let's take just a few minutes to look around, and we'll scope out Tiny Vikings new digs while were at it.

Reinstalling my (this worked for a few firends too) video driver from geforce experience fixed it for me. It didn't work the next day but it magically fixed itself after a day.. So if you want ansel for a few screenshots you can reinstall your drivesrs and you should be fine... for a day...

LAME WOLF'S SUBMISSION TO ARK VIDEO

THE TALE OF TIM

This time we're submitting the endearing tale of poor dysfunctional Tim as he sets off on an adventure after getting sick of his boring life. We had a lot of fun making this one, and we hope you enjoy watching it! Thanks a lot for your consideration once again!

Hey Jat

Any news on prizes?

I know they usually take a while...but it's been a long while xD

Thanks :):D

I was curious from which Crunch you are waiting back to?

Still waiting on 55+ myself. I hope the info isn't lost since this was over 3 months ago and never has taken this long.

Really would be great to have it in time for the Steam Autumn Sale end of this month/early Nov :P

ARKitect entry:

Created a multi-tiered community marketplace and library for TwitchRP. Below it sits a lovely Tea Shoppe with a garden and sheltered parking behind.

Take your time and browse the many stalls of the market to find just the item you need. Or maybe you will bump into a friend who would like to trade some of his own goods. Inside the Library features a card catalog system for easy use in finding any community written book. There are lots of lovely spots to sit and watch the thorny dragons across the river. If you fancy a walk, the garden on the north end of the property is sure to delight. Finish up your time with a stop down at the Tea Shoppe for some of Ms. Dorothy's famous cakes!

There's no need for anyone to be concerned. You are right they do it in batches, they don't give out prizes every week. They record all the winners and runner-ups etc. so everyone will be sure to receive their prizes, we just need to let them manage it their way.

Yeah that's what I thought, just keen to replace the old 760 lol, I get like 4-10 fps on max settings while setting up the shots for the Ansel stuff
