Welcome survivors!

Introducing to you, Tullimonstrum: The Lunar Magnetic Scout

image.png

(All art by ZCI, YET AGAIN)

A neutral creature levitating via magnetism throughout the Gen 1 lunar biome, spawns near gas vents where it would attack anything which disturbs these gas vents, also picking out the creatures which are hurt enough to be easily killed

Common Name: Tullimonstrum

Species: Tullimonstrum Sidereum

Time: Carboniferous

Diet: Carnivore

Temperament: Opportunistic

Wild:

Tullimonstrum Sidereum is a bizarre creature found strangely levitating around this simulation´s lunar biome, inhabiting near the huge gas vents waiting for prey to walk into it and suffocate so they can pick them out with their strong trunk

It seems to me that this lunar biome brings the Earth creatures back into life always with a twist, for example, it seems tullimonstrum has learnt how to use gravitational forces to pull itself forward towards prey and to throw small creatures around

Domesticated:

I've heard about tribes being able to get their own Tullimonstrums through luring them into a vulnerable position by leaving some ambergris around, and then riding them whenever possible, they say after riding them and trying not to fall off, they eventually calm down and subdue

This creature works miracles as a support mount being a great scout while still being different from the other creepy critters that cover this role in the simulation

Abilities:

Active abilities:

Bite (, , ): Regular bite dealing low damage but having a fast attack speed to make it worth it

Magnetic lunge (, , ): By holding down left click it selects a creature and then uses its magnetic jaws to attract itself forward towards it (works sort of like a shadowmane dash), dealing higher damage and poison damage the further the target is

4.png

Grab (, , ): It can grab small creatures up to humans and use its horns to intoxicate them by using left click, right click allows you to throw the creature, the more you hold right click the farther the target will go

3.png

Gas Vent : It will either fart gas out of its side orifices by pressing X (you are immune to said gas while mounted) or produce a congealed gas ball which acts like a sticky bomb by holding X, the tully uses its magnetic jaws to aim and launch the sticky bomb, which explodes after a period of time, they can be shot to deal twice the damage (does not damage structures), this abilities draw from a gas meter which refills

8.png

Passive Abilities:

Flying (Press Space, , ) / (Click C, , ): This creature cannot fly naturally, but by drawing power from its gas meter it can fly for a small amount of time the same way a hover skiff would, tapping the spacebar makes it fly up into the air while tapping C lowers the tully, plus it would have omnidirectional movement

Housekeeping: By setting an option in its radial wheel it starts to use its magnetism to attract dropped items towards it and grab it, even placing it on the dedicated storage of those resources or other structures which can be selected through the same radial wheel

Escape Plan: Nearby tamed Tullinonstrum will always lunge at you if you are below 20% health, they will grab you and try to take you away from danger, at which point you are able to mount them, this can be disabled by turning off AI attacks

7.png

Weather Detector: Just like the Jerboa, once an asteroid shower/volcano eruption is about to happen Tully will play an animation where it moves its eyes to indicate the event

Advanced Scan: Tully is able to scan survivors with their highly adapted eyes just the same way HLNA would, showing the survivors´ stats and hotbar

Metal Harvest: It can use its magnetic beak harvest metal more efficiently than a pickaxe but less effectively than an anky

6.png

Taming Method:

To tame your own Tullimonstrum you must throw some ambergris at the ground and wait for it to wander into it and eat it, once it eats it you must ride it, it will start levitating around and doing different actions to knock you off
-It can start flying to knock you off, to prevent this you must mash a single button

-It can grab you with its trunk, to prevent the dismount you must feed it ambergris

-It can start wobbling around, to prevent falling off you must press space at the right time (same way the mammoth drum works)

Preventing the dismount by any means gains taming affinity

QoF Features and Uses:

It works as a general QoL tame with its housekeeping abilities, helping with aspects such as poop/egg gathering, or moving large quantities of items while also keeping you safe outside, a great scouting mount for any biome and a decent metal harvester since ankys aren't viable in this map and magmas and hover skiffs are too far into late game

PvP design and uses:

This creature would serve a scout role, a role which is also filled by the bloodstalker which inhabits this same map, that's the reason why this one fills a different side of the scout role. It could arguably hold its own weight in the PvP scenario being a perfect tame to pick out survivors by grabbing, throwing away survivors and then using the magnetic lunge when far away to deal huge damage, also being able to see a survivor's stats to more efficiently pick them out, seeing their hotbars also allows you to communicate to your teammates

It also works as a ranged attacker with it´s gas sticky bombs which deal more damage when shot with a rifle encouraging sniper outposts in PvP (You can also use weapons when riding it)

PvE design and uses:

The idea for Tully in the lunar biome roots from how empty the biome feels tame wise, as it only has Astrocetus which is a tame only useful for PvP, with a nightmare taming process, and an impossible to unlock saddle, so I felt that this biome needed  some love since it's so cool looking

Tully has many QoL abilities which make it a great tame to have around generally, with its magnetic grab it can grab poop and eggs so they don't spoil or help move large quantities of items for base management (no more annoying whip metal runs)

It works greatly as a scout mount in between the bloodstalker and hover skiff

Also some awesome submissions you should vote for

The Lunar biome is so hard to submit creatures for, but this creep would really fit in ! Great job.

Every creature with "Incertae sedis" in their taxonomy deserve a vote, morover, it can be a great add to the lunar biome but the grabing ability look a lot like what the bloodstalker do, maybe try to put more emphasis on the electromagnetic power of the creature. (PS: the stowing ability is really something i need)

You managed to give a purpose to such a peculiar creature... my warmest compliments, and then a bit of space theme is useful for the game

A brilliant idea, just like other sea animals that were transformed into space creatures, Tullimonstrum does this with excellence, since it is an animal with an alien look, I think it was an excellent idea on your part, congratulations!
