SappyDaisy42840 Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 (edited) Art by: Chawizawd Common Name: Saivodus Species: Saivodus Striatus Time: Carboniferous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Opportunistic Wild: Saivodus Striatus is a remarkable species patrolling the Ark's oceans, always looking for its next meal. It has adapted to the harsh biodiversity by adopting an opportunistic feeding routine. Lunging toward prey, brutally maiming them with its incredible jaws aligned with natural razors. Much like the mainland’s Hyaenodon, this large shark seeks out weakened prey rather than wasting energy hunting it down. Despite the ocean’s hostility the spines seem to deter even the boldest of hunters. Interestingly, its messy eating habits and spines shelter schools of fish, forming a symbiotic bond with flying fish. The schools of fish keep Saivodus Striatus healthy and assist in hunting, while gaining food and shelter in return. Shockingly, Saivodus is not aggressive until provoked or has deemed you a quick and easy food source. Domesticated: Many coastal tribes have sought to instigate a feeding frenzy in hopes of befriending this hungry fish. Saivodus is sought after for its hunting habits and feeding frenzies directing the sheltered schools of fish to aid allies or debilitating foes. Massive jaws lined with rows of natural razors allow it to tear into prey. Violently thrashing its head, tainting the water with the victim's blood expelled from its elegant gills. These bloodbaths increase the aggression of not only Saivodus but all aquatic life, a phenomenon that war parties have used to devastating effect. Controls & Abilities Left-Click: Standard Bite Attack Right-Click: Lunging Grab/Thrashing Attack Functions very similar to Megalosaurus’s grab. If the target is within the drag weight, Saivodus holds it within its jaws and can continue to bite (Left-Click). (Right-Click) becomes a tail smack, launching the target as a projectile forward dealing damage to it and whatever it collides with. If the target is out of the drag weight limit, Saivodus latches on, much like Deinonychus. While latched, repeatedly pressing (Left-Click) will perform a Thrashing Attack. Once the attack is finished blood spews from its gills activating Gill Empowerment and releases from the target. Buff: Gill Empowerment Applies a 10% damage increase to nearby allies, Saivodus and Fish Swarm. Activated upon a successful Thrashing attack. Does not stack with itself. Passive: Spined Adornment “Most” Ocean predators ignore Saivodus unless provoked due to its spines. Passive: Chum Similar to Carcharodontosaurus Blood stacks, Saivodus builds “Chum” Stacks: Gained by either killing enemies (drag weight based) or landing successful Thrashing Attacks. Maximum of 100 stacks. Effect of stacks at 100 Chum Stacks: 15% damage boost for Saivodus and its swarm. 3x the amount of food gained from eating. Greatly enhances swarm healing. Fish Swarm Mechanic Saivodus is constantly accompanied by a swarm of fish unless targets are marked. Pressing the (C-Key) to toggle Turret Mode. While in Turret Mode, Saivodus can rotate in place but cannot move. For visual feedback the fish swarm that spreads about Saivodus body concentrates at the front of Saivodus. Under its pectoral fins, think missiles on a fighter jet. (Right-Click) in Turret Mode to mark a target, sending a swarm of fish to either aid an ally or attack an enemy within range. A marked target has a max range before the swarm of fish return back to Saivodus. Saivodus can maintain two active swarm targets at a time. Upon entering Turret Mode, any swarms not present at Saivodus will return to it as a recall function. When Fish Swarm aids an ally: Constantly heals the affected ally, but costs food drain for Saivodus. Healing cost is 2x the HP healed, (example if ally is healed 550hp then it drains 1100 food.) If food reaches zero, the swarm automatically returns. Healing rate: At 0 Chum Stacks: Heals at (0.0025)(Max HP of Target) capping at 200HP/s At 100 Chum Stacks: Heals at (0.007)(Max HP of Target) capping at 550HP/s When Fish Swarm Attacks an Enemy: Applies a slowing effect and a constant damage. Damage done scales with Saivodus’s melee and can benefit from the 15% from Chum Stacks and the 10% from Gill Empowerment. Affected Players can struggle free by spamming attack keys. If successful the swarm will return. Spacebar: Self-Heal/Bait-Ball Self-Heal: Fish Swarm returns to heal Saivodus directly. At 100 Chum Stacks: Self-Heal becomes Bait-Ball and expends all stacks upon use. Bait-Ball Effect: Creates a giant swarming ball of fish lasting for 25 seconds. Once Bait-Ball subsides, the swarm returns to Saivodus. Enemies inside are slowed, take constant damage which is affected by Gill Empowerment and gets the 15% damage from the Chum Stacks. Allies receive the max healing (0.007)(Max HP of Target) capped at 550 HP/s while in the sphere of influence. Damage dealt and healing done within the Bait-Ball does not drain food from Saivodus. My Reasoning: I did submit this creature to the center and it did become a finalist but it was always made to be submitted to Gen 1 as it is the best ocean in Ark since it has gameplay compared to every other map. The Oceans in Ark are very lackluster; they feel very forgotten by the devs until Gen 1 since, well there is content (an actual boss). I dislike how Meg looks in this game and thought a new shark could be added in that looks GOOD! With great textures and abilities etc. I like the idea of an underwater healer since there isn’t one, and especially a ranged healer that's completely new in terms of ark and its mechanics. So I thought Saivodus would be fun to submit with those niches planned out, I always liked oceanic white-tips and very stereotypical shark tropes. I thought making a really stereotypical “maneater” and using the inspiration of Pilot fish and Oceanic Whitetips would be fun. Hence why Saivodus has schools of fish being a part of its identity in a fun symbiotic relationship was a really fun idea. I do believe Sharks are truly graceful creatures; This creature isn’t a replacement for Meg but something that can coexist since Meg is a bleeding pack creature, Saivodus is a healing support that can buff war parties. I think silhouette wise this will stand out from Helicoprion and Meg due to A. Roughly the size of a Xiph and B. having a swarm of fish particles surrounding it. Ending thoughts/Other Ideas: Obviously Wildcard can edit and do whatever they like with this submission. It is their game and it's how they would balance things. My numbers are purely for making mechanics more tangible to understand and balanced in my opinion which will probably differ from theirs. I did design a new fish species for Saivodus to use, so it made sense to see floating fish outside the water. Let's say you brought a rex over to the beach to heal, they can be floating around the rex because they are flying fish lol. Ideally it would be cool to see more endemic life in Ark so this creature having its own custom fish particles is a fun idea….however I can see WC just using parakeet fish instead which that's fine as well, just the flying fish are neater. Another thought I had just for “flavor” is when thrashing a target Saivodus receives some meat into its inventory because it's scraping or taking chunks of meat off of its target. It would also be beneficial to have the saddle help reduce the weight of all the meat in its inventory. I will happily look at comments for suggestions and feedback! Genesis is focusing on diversity, that's it. I thought about the diversity too, however the only Gen 1 creature that actually cares about the biome diversity is bloodstalker and honestly I don't think anything should take that away from it. Thats bloodstalkers niche travel and even with that it still gets effected by the Lunar biome. Gen 1 creatures are tied to their biomes, I think having a restriction is fine, especially this is the one map were the ocean actually has content that being a boss. 2

I'm fine with this answer, for example I proposed something that would break that limit.
DarkEdgeTV Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 With how busted wild X creatures are, this guy would make the ocean biome such a nicer experience. Plus an actual support tame for Moeder would be sick the extra notes about using the fish minions on land creatures could make some fun unconventional gameplay, like Trafalgar's land Xiphs. Love tames that propose unique possibilities 1 1
ARKExtreme Posted October 12, 2025 Posted October 12, 2025 We really need this to Genesis 1 Other most voted creatures are cool, so the fight will be very monstrous. 1
Xelz Posted October 12, 2025 Posted October 12, 2025 We already have Xipacthinus with this skill... 1

It's the one ability out of the kit......thats like saying we have rex already why should we have any other carnivore that has a bite attack. Xiph thrash is automatic......this is more like Megalosaurus. Regardless thats one attack out of the entire kit, does Xiph do ranged healing and controls its own fish swarm? Does Xiph tail slap enemies like torpedoes? Does xiph create a massive swarm of fish that rip enemies apart and heal allies? That's incredibly narrow-minded. Xenorachnoide Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 A really nice one, you managed to implement good limit to your creature while also giving the solution (food consumption i mean). Although it seems weird to not having any abilities regarding the dorsal spine. 1

Hey Xeno, Thank you for liking the submission, thats fair their is a passive ability for the spines its not really the main kit. Saivodus had two Dorsal spines so in my head Saivodus in ark would probably adapt to have a lot more spines especially with how aggressive the ocean is. My thought process was that if it hurts to eat a chip the wrong way, I'm sure a Mosa wouldn't wanna eat a shark with spines lol. Hence why schools of fish use Saivodus for shelter/food fun Symbiotic relationship.
HAMBone4276 Posted November 4, 2025 Posted November 4, 2025 (edited) Will the taming method be rotating it, or will it be different? I think it should be kind of like the troodon but the taming is affected by how much health and level of the dino, but in other words affected on how much blood the dino has in its body or meat mass. BTW: AMAZING CREATURE!! NEED!!! If it doesn't win please make it a mod. Edited November 4, 2025 by HAMBone4276
