SpacePjoes
Introducing Coelophysis, Assassin Shoulder Pet and Mutation Booster! Tags:Mutation Booster, Glowing Mutations,Infiltration Pet, Assassin, Pathing, Combat PetCaving Pet, Protective Pet ByRiskyBiscuits & Sp_ce Disclaimer:I wasn't really ready for this vote, so it may be a bit rough around the edges. As in previous votes, I do not expect all of Coelos proposed abilities to be added. To make sure Coelo is a fully fledged creature even if Wildcard decides to cut some of its abilities, I have suggested a variety of abilities to hopefully make sure that there is enough to work with. Coelophysis, the first truly combat-oriented shoulder pet (for PvP and PvE)! Don't mind the left sketch please, I had to draw it myself very quickly. I'm not an artist. Introduction: All basic ideas, selling points and roles of Coelophysis are listed here. For more in depth information, keep reading! Stealthy Assassin: Able to use ASA pathing to find its way through bases to get to a target Can pass by turrets, alarms and creatures Has a special armor that allows them to be remotely controlled by a player Constrict players, largely ignoring their armor Dueling Pet: Can be controlled with a whistle item to attack with skilled combos, including lunging, strangling, dodging, and jumping on and off your shoulder Mutation Booster: Boost mutation rates of specific stats Grant unique, glowing colors to creatures mutated by Coelophysis Protective Pet: Immunity to torpor, radiation and other effects Protective tail scarf against toxins, gas and environment when on your shoulder Can give a burst of healing when on a low health players shoulder Wild: Wild Coelophysis are very elusive, and normally avoid risk, running away from larger creatures. Watch out, they are very fast and hard to spot after they run away! Other wild creatures also almost never attack them, unless Coelophysis attacks them first. When a player approaches them though, they will attempt to jump onto the players neck, constricting them and damaging them. You will have to move erratically to shake them off. They are pesky, but can be countered reasonably. Coelophysis spawns moderately rarely in the Unknown (Aberration zone) in groups of 1-3, which very rarely may also have babies. Taming Process: Coelophysis requires you to prove your worth in a tame, and show you are a valuable companion to it, in contrary to the regular torpor taming method, as Coelophysis is immune to it. To do this, you will have to knock out large WILD creatures to the point that Coelo can kill it. The more health the creature has, the more taming this would provide. Tamed Abilities: Stealthy Assassin: Undetectable:Coelophysis is largely undetectable to many threats, like wild creatures, tamed creatures set to aggressive, traps and alarms, turrets and Parasaur alarms. Assassin: Using new ASA creature pathfinding, the Coelophysis can find its way through structures, builds and terrain to find a nearby player. It can even hop on the backs of creatures to attack a player. When it reaches a player, it will start attacking them with its special Constricting Tail. Constricting Tail: When attacking players, Coelophysis can jump on their necks and constrict a player. This will drain their health directly, and will be only minimally effected by armor, allowing the Coelophysis to kill even heavily armored players that do not see it coming. Remote Control Armor: The player can equip Flak, Riot and Tek armor to Coelophysis to boost their armor. A camera / heat vision camera can be attached to the Riot and Tek variants of this special Coelophysis armor, allowing them to be controlled remotely. The Tek form of this armor also allows them to temporarily stun players they jump onto, and disable any nearby electronics for a limited time, similar to a Scorched Earth electrical storm. Dueling Pet: Coelophysis Whistle: When near you, Coelophysis can be controlled by a special whistle item. This item can allow Coelophysis to perform special attacks on command. Each whistle is tied to a Coelophysis and can only control one of them. Pressing the number keys while holding the whistle will allow Coelo to perform special attacks. To unselect the whistle, simply press the melee key. [1] Move to:Coelo moves to the location you are pointing at. This will also result in Coelo jumping off your shoulder. [2] Bite: Coelo bites the target if it is close enough, dealing a small amount of partially armor piercing damage (30 dmg, 50% armor reduction). [3] Lunge: Coelo lunges at the target from a distance, dealing a larger amount of partially armor piercing damage (60 dmg, 50% armor reduction), but leaving the Coelo exposed for a small amount of time. [4] Latch: Coelo latches on to a target, allowing it to bite a target quicker. Using [4] again unlatches Coelo. To shake off a Coelo, you must move erratically with your mouse and movement keys. [5] Strangle: When Coelo is latched to a target, it can start strangling it, dealing armor piercing damage over time (30 dmg/sec, 90% armor reduction), and reducing oxygen of the target at 5x the normal rate. To shake off a Coelo, you must move erratically with your mouse and movement keys. [6] Heal: Uses Coelos heal burst to heal everything in its immediate surroundings, with a decent cooldown (200 healing in 2 seconds for creatures, 50 healing in 2 seconds for players). [7] Dodge: Coelo quickly moves to the side to dodge an attack. Dodging also provides a short damage reduction (75% reduction), and allows Coelo to survive a lethal attack at 1 health. [8] Retreat: Coelo immediately retreats from a target, and will unlatch if latched. It will stay at a safer distance from the target. [9] Return to shoulder: Coelo returns to your shoulder, or jumps off of it to your side if Coelo is already on your shoulder. Mutation Booster: Mutating Cells:Coelophysis has evolved to use Element in combination with specialized Stem Cells to boost the mutation rate of offspring. Coelophysis can use Element Shards or Element Ore to fuel a special mode it can use, it also passively produces Stem Cells, which are also used as fuel. This works similar to the Gigantoraptor, but Element and Stem Cells are only consumed if a mutation is successful. Glowing Colors: Wild Coelophysis have unique colors that no other creature has, and cannot be mutated by normal means. To get these colors on other creatures, a Coelophysis has to mutate the offspring that is to be mutated. The colors that Coelophysis has may then be passed down to these creatures. Protective Pet: Protective Scarf: When on a players shoulder, the tail of the Coelophysis acts like a gas mask, protecting you from the environment and toxins, like those of Cnidarias stings, Arthropleuras acid and Araneos webs. Healing Beacon: On your shoulder, Coelophysis provides you with an increased healing speed, and is able to passively give you a healing burst when it notices you are low on health. Immunity:Coelophysis is fully immune to radiation, torpor and other toxins/poisons (like spores and jellyfish stuns). Utility & Scenarios: PvE: Coelophysis is incredibly useful in the mutating of creatures, as it can provide a boost to the mutation rate of creatures. We all know how frustrating it can be to take extremely long waiting for a new mutation to pop out, and Coelophysis will provide a bit of help in that process. Besides the boosted rates, Coelophysis can also cause mutations with more vibrant colors, fully unique to any creatures of the ARK, providing you with very special and personalized creatures. In caves, Coelophysis will provide a lot of help, as they can protect like a gas mask would, and protect you from harmful effects like that of the acid of the wild Arthropleura, the webs of Araneos and the rabies given by pesky Onycs. Not only this, but it can also provide a burst of quick healing when you are on low health, saving you some of your precious medical brews. PvP: Coelophysis provides a whole new aspect to a PvP fight. Although they are not incredibly powerful brawlers, they can sneak past most defenses of bases, allowing them to still deal valuable damage to enemies. They are completely undetectable to turrets and parasaurs, and can sneak past aggressive tamed creatures if done carefully. It can be remotely controlled for valuable information, without being automatically gunned down. Once inside a base, it can easily kill an unprepared player, and can even kill them through very powerful armor. This makes them very valuable assets in raids and can even find a use in defending a base, using Coelophysis to jump unprepared players on creatures. Conclusion: Coelophysis would be a refreshing and interesting addition to ARKs creature roster, allowing for new strategies in PvP, granting much quality of life in PvE and PvP, and gives more unique customisation to your most cherished creatures, in the form of new and exciting colors. Have fun, survivors! Dossier (text): Common Name: CoeloSpecies: Coelophysis medensTime: Late TriassicDiet: CarnivoreTemperament: Reactive Wild: Coelophysis medens is a little scoundrel hiding behind a cute appearance. This clever opportunist always goes after the weakest target possible, and when they act in groups, they dare target bigger prey - as long as it's weak and vulnerable. When a creature is small enough, Coelophysis has a unique way to kill it: it wraps its thick, tail around its victim's neck and strangles it, after sneaking behind the target. Moreover, killing one can be tricky, due to its ability to regrow lost tissues like a lizard. Could it be any more mischievous? Domesticated: As pesky as they are in the wild, Coelophysis turn into smart, versatile helpers, once tamed. First of all, they're small and stealthy, which means they can be taught to sneak into bases and strangle enemy survivors with their tail. Maybe they could even hide explosives while everyone's looking away! Also, that tail makes quite the pretty scarf, an effective cover from poison gas and hazardous environments. But for more peaceful survivors, a tamed Coelophysis’ true value lies in its healing properties. I'm still not sure how they do it, but whatever allows them to regenerate so fast speeds up your own healing as well. Additionally, it seems to alter the genetic makeup of unborn baby creatures, causing their pigments to mutate. xGodhandx
I love this: 1. Well thought out 2. Detailed description of abilities and dossier 3. Stunning artwork 4. Originality Shoulder pets do not get much love on these votes and I hope this submission breaks that trend. I voted for this when it was first submitted and was disappointed when it didn’t make the top 10. This would seem at home in the Aberration biome on Valguero. You have my vote. PrimalNacho
Nice creature, it looks cool! I offer these abilities for it: Rallying Theropod: Coelophysis can perch on certain medium sized theropods and give them a major stamina and defensive boost. This would work on carnos, gallimimus and deinonychus. Trait teacher: Coelophysis can teach the specific trait is has to younger creatures. lauhdcris
Dude, I absolutely love shoulder pets. I think that their ability to pack so much utility in such a small space is so useful. This is by far my #1 pick for valguero. If this doesn't get into the map, I really want a mod of this.
