[Chill out survivors!, Allow me to break the ice and introduce...]

Common Name: Cryodrakon

Species: Cryodrakon Chione

Time: Late Cretaceous 

Diet: Opportunist Carnivore

Temperament: Aggressive

Wild: It is strange to see pterosaurs flying in the snow biomes without suffering in these extremely low temperatures. In the beginning, the survivors didn’t believe in the tales about a flying reptile with freezing breath until they saw a feathered group of pterosaurs creating a small snowstorm around a Megaloceros couple, freezing their victims with their freezing water breath.

Taming:  In order to tame a Cryodrakon, you must first hide from its keen thermal senses by using Fria Curry to obscure your heat signature and confuse it. When approached while in this state, it will start frantically flapping its wings at which point you can feed it Spicy Fish Cake or kibble to restore its strength. Once it consumes the Spicy Fish Cake, the effects of the spicy food will kick in. After flapping its wings, it will release a burst of cold air that pushes you back slightly. You must then run away before it notices you and repeat the process over and over until it is fully tamed.

 

Domesticated: Survivors found a way to domesticate these Frost-breathing creatures. Cryodrakons' favorite foods are Prime Meat, Jerky, and Spicy fish cake. The tribe uses these pterosaurs as a living refrigerator, a substitute for the cryo-fridge, and a flying saddle to blind and raid the enemies’ bases.

Abilities/Controls

Frostbite (Hold leftclick/R2/RT to charge up): The Cryodrakon rears its head back before swinging its head down to inflict a devastating bite upon its target. (at least 50% stronger than basic melee) with a 5-7 second cooldown

 

Ice Peck (Left Click/R2/RT): Relatively quick melee attack with moderate damage

Right Click/L2/LT: Blizzard/Snowstorm

 The Cryodrakon takes to the skies and starts flying in tight, circular loops around a designated area, summoning a swirling blizzard.

Every player and creature caught in the vortex is hit with the new "Wind Chilled" effect—reducing movement speed by 50% (as if they just strolled into a snowdrift on a winter day).

In addition, players caught in the tempest will be dismounted and frozen, leaving them to reconsider their life choices (or at least their choice of mount).

Interrupt: If the Cryodrakon loses 15% or more of its total health during this action, the blizzard is immediately cancelled—because even a frosty storm needs a break when it’s taking a hit.

 

C/R1 /LB: Icicle Feathers. The Cryodrakon hisses and becomes covered in ice Feathers. When active, it increases Frozen Feathers' armor value and inflicts return damage to attackers. It can be used every 15s by both a rider and the AI

 

X/R1+R3/RB+RT: Thermal Vision. The Cryodrakon reveals nearby thermal sources to the player's eyes.

Space/X/A: The Cryodrakon starts flying. To land press the same button near the ground.

Cryodrakon's feathers

The Cryodrakon Chione naturally regenerates Cryodrakon’s feather after it uses or loses one, the regeneration time seems to be around 8 seconds per feather, using this numbers if the Cryo loses all its 15 feathers it will need to wait a total time of 170 seconds (or 2:09 minutes) to regenerate them all.  To retrieve a Cryodrakon's feather use the radial wheel, once retrieved it can be used to craft the Cryodrakon's Saddle or to gain +50 increased hypothermal insulation.

 

 

SADDLE

Despite being an Azhdarchid as massive as a Quetzal, the Cryodrakon outflies it, perfect for when you're trying to escape from creatures like Wyverns.

This Saddle is designed for maxium comfort for both you and your Cryodrakon, making long journeys a cold air breeze. Instead of having to strap your torch onto the saddle of this Giant Winter King, just light the lantern by your seat and ride on into the night.

Passive

Turret Mode: The Cryodrakon has a turret mode, allowing its AI to stay in position while it freezing the target

Flock Bond: This Cold Pterosaur has a warm heart for its flock, allowing it to increase its damage by 20% to protect its group.

Meat Preservation: The Cryodrakon’s Inventory doubles the spoilage time of all kinds of Meat inside the Cryodrakon's inventory, making a total preservation time of x8 the normal time. It also reduces the total weight of the meat by 70%.

Minor Immunity to Cryosickness: The Cryodrakon Chione is slightly resistant to Cryosickness from Cryopods, receiving only 60% of the torpor effect and having its stamina reduced by half.

 

Utility

Environmental Travel: The Cryodrakon can swiftly traverse cold regions, offering excellent insulation. It is an ideal travel mount for exploring areas with lower temperatures.

Insulation: Similar to the Basilosaurus, riding the Cryodrakon provides the player with the Insulation buff, massively increasing the player's Hypothermic and Hyperthermic insulation

Mobile Icebox
Cryodrakon isn’t just a fierce flyer—it moonlights as a state-of-the-art mobile cryofridge! It can store perishable items in its inventory with a spoil timer equivalent to that of a Refrigerator, even when its cold feathers aren’t active (yes, that’s a cool upgrade at Level up Weight). Not only does it handle your everyday perishables, but it also keeps hard-to-store items like Wyvern Milk and Nameless Venom fresh for an impressively long time compared to a fridge. 

Cryodrakon's Nest

This nest will be a special craftable structure designed for incubating Cryodrakon eggs. Instead of using an incubator, you can hatch them in this nest, which will speed up the incubation process.

Gathering and Drops:

Raw meat > Raw Fish Meat, Raw Prime Meat, Raw Prime Fish.

 -Cryodrakon gathers hide, chitin/keratin, and meat from corpses*

Encountering a Cryodrakon in the wild is a rare stroke of luck, but those who manage to tame these majestic beasts are blessed with unparalleled companionship. While not overly difficult to domesticate, their scarcity adds to their allure. Once tamed, these creatures become invaluable allies, capable of feats that defy imagination.

The females, in particular, exhibit remarkable nurturing instincts, crafting nests in any environment and expertly incubating eggs with unparalleled precision. Their most awe-inspiring ability, however, lies in their capacity to unleash a devastating ice blast, a spectacle that instills both fear and reverence in those who witness it. Moreover, they possess incredible strength, able to carry hefty loads without faltering.

Conversely, the males, though smaller in stature, boast remarkable agility and speed, compensating for their lack of icy prowess with breathtaking aerial maneuvers that leave onlookers spellbound. 
 

 

Wild:

In their natural habitat among the snowy peaks, Cryodrakons reign as masters of stealth and ambush, blending seamlessly into the icy landscape. Their perfect camouflage allows them to lie in wait, concealed beneath mounds of snow, patiently stalking their unsuspecting prey. With lightning-fast reflexes, they strike with precision, their formidable beaks snapping shut with bone-chilling ferocity.

Females, entrusted with the protection of their nests, wield a unique defense mechanism, utilizing their throat pouches to store water that they can expel with devastating force akin to a mystical mana blast. Meanwhile, the males, upon returning to their mates, unveil their own arsenal of tactics, capable of freezing everything in their path as they swoop down from the skies, striking terror into the hearts of all who dare to challenge them.

In the presence of these frozen titans, one cannot help but be filled with a sense of primal fear, tempered only by an undeniable sense of awe at the sheer magnificence of nature's creations. The Cryodrakon stands as a testament to the untamed beauty and unfathomable power of the natural world, a reminder that even in the most desolate of landscapes, life thrives in all its terrifying glory.

 

 

 

Taming method:

Things you need: pt or bigger to carry creatures,

Taming males, you have to look (from a distance) for a big snow mound with a large “ice chunk” and two glowing eyes, then you have to carry a creature with your flyer and drop it from the sky to feed it (getting too close to the cryodrakon may result in you getting hurt), the bigger the creature you feed it, the more taming taming effectiveness. 

Taming females, there’s no way to tame a female, female Cryodrakons are less agreeable (Cryodrakons, not humans, don’t take offence) the only way to get a female is to distract the mother of the nest (or kill her for you psycho’s) and then take the egg and incubate it, using a good amount of air conditioners.

Or you could bring her food like you would with a Carcharodontosaurus

 

 

Abilities

Primary attack:

Peck

Secondary attack: 

Pick  up with beak(on ground, still holds in beak after taking off)          

pick up with feet (air born, will not continue holding after landing )

Other: 

SNOW BOULDER 

While on the ground in a snowy biome the cryodrakon can roll up a snow boulder by holding down the botton and walking around, you can either let it roll down a near by slant or carry and use it as a nuke to squash your enemies from above. 

Male only: 

ICY SWOOP
  while flying,the male swoops down and flaps his wings propelling him up while everything underneath is frozen(like the picture shows below) 

Female only:

ICY BREATH
the female takes and stores water in her throat pouch, and when time comes to use it she will freeze it and breath it until stamina runs out ,(click once to shoot, click twice to stop, hold down for the ice breath to come out more spread out but with less range shown in the picture below) 

Passive abilities:

Frost armour, like the Cryolophosaurus, the Cryodrakon (only females cause they have the ice breath) can use its ice breath on domesticated creatures in your tribe to boost there armour and keep them from freezing 

Different forms:

Normal form, doesn’t change anything, it’s just normal and boring,

Glowing form, glowing form makes all of the colourful parts on its body(everything except it’s feathers basically) glow for around 15-20 minutes, it boosts stats by 10% but reduces stamina regain by 25% during glowing form and after its off, the Cryodrakon will ask to take a nap, if given permission it will take a nap for a certain amount of time (3-10 minutes) if woken up before the timer has ended the Cryodrakon will be groggy and all stats will be reduced by 15%

Saddle features:

Its saddle is equipped with head blasters, (kinda like the Rex’s tek saddle) that has multiple modes such as.

Automatic mode:

Spit fires till it heats up too much.

Burst mode:

Blasts a few times but with small breaks in between.

Charged shot mode:

It charges up for a faster and more powerful, damaging shot.

Keep in mind all of these are manned by the driver and take advanced rifle bullets, they also need to be reloaded while terrestrial 

Jet Boosters

Like the Tropeo, the Cryodrakon has jet boosters at the back for faster flight.

Others can ride as well:

Yes, you, and your tribe mates can all ride on the Cryodrakon, there are two more spots on each shoulder that have small grenade or rocket cannons that so your tribe mates have some action too.

 

 

Conclusion 

In conclusion, this creature can be used for PvE and be great for PvP. the different abilities that the males and females have really make having both a wonder. their magnificence and beauty are just something to see. I hope this creature sparked interest and if you have any suggestions or comments, please do leave them below, I would love to read them, respond to them and I may take some into consideration :). Really interesting creature! I hope to see it in Ark 👀. Just a suggestion: you said at the beginning that it can act as a mobile cryofridge, you should just add a few details about it in the Utility section,with the mobile Icebox, as it could be a huge utility for the Cryodrakon.

Could do without the frost breath personally, but the other abilities sound perfect. I love the idea of if it kind of being the basi of the sky.

It was one of the first ideas during the Cryodrakon's concept process. I'm glad you liked that ability!
