I am not enthused by the announcement of five more upcoming Fantastic Tames.  I find the whole model to be predatory and and a pain to deal with on unofficial servers, and even downright pay to win on official servers.  I don't think it's a healthy direction for the game to take, especially with how quickly several individual $5 tames begins to eclipse the game's retail price.

Games like Stellaris and Payday 2 are fantastic examples of this kind of problem, only the amount of game content provided by each of those games' DLCs far eclipses the value of several of these Fantastic Tames combined.  And on top of that, often only one person needs to own said DLCs in order for their friends to join them in experiencing their content.  Meanwhile if a friend of mine were to buy a Pyromane and tame it, I wouldn't even be able to so much as feed it.

So rendering till "March" so hopefully can play again with 5.5 or am I dreaming as the 80% better back in August made game worse. Abs was my favorite map but constantly crashing I've gone into render mode, scorch sand has gone cartoon like no detail, add rain turns into mirror, those stupid oasissaur freezing movement from neighbouring bases. Menus gone sluggish open inventory and it wants to crash you, main Ab issue where it actually does.

Still seeing all local extinction servers full tried international ping was thru the roof.

5.5 going to address these issues or best to delete now save myself the rendering?

5 more fantastic tames huh? I remember when the phoenix was released for free years after scorched earth first came out. I can understand, perhaps, needing some form of steady income while you work on this but the way you handle these dlcs is incredibly annoying. Even if you don't own them they will take up spawn spaces on the server unless turned off, every person needing the purchase them is also just a massive pain and honestly it's just better for a server to disable them. I don't wanna live in the pay per dino world. I enjoyed bobs tall tales and the various expansions and I'm excited for lost colony but every fantastic tame sort of just leaves a sour taste in my mouth that I just won't wanna deal with.

ARK: Lost Colony drops this November, with pre-orders starting in April

You're dropping a paid full DLC while in Early Access, for a game that hasn't yet released all the content people already paid for in October of 2023 (aka 2 years before the release of Lost Colony), and now you're doing pre-orders for it. Where will the spiral of desperation end...

Hold up, no community-voted creature for the two Genesis maps ?! I hope it's omitted for brevity's sake and not because you're going back on that promise.

Also, stop trying to make the Fantastic Tames to happen. It's not going to happen.

Eh'hem... So where is Crystal Isles and Lost Island? They are two of the most favorite non-story official maps. Even if you are having trouble with them some how, you can still tell us straight and we'll understand. Simply leaving them out as if you had forgotten them, and hoping everyone else will to, does not a happy community make. We needs those Crystal Isles wyverns and The Lost Island baboons! Not to mention that Lost Island is the only map, to my knowledge, that has every possible resource to harvest and allows you to openly learn every engram. Maybe you can on some other map to, I forget, but Lost Island is the main one I use on ASE. Always hated resources and engrams being locked to specific maps. Love Lost Island cause of not having to deal with that nonsense.

This is probably the major reason why I still haven't bought ASA. If I had done so, and then you told me that Crystal Isles and Lost Island weren't going to be added, I'd be very upset and demand some form of compensation because I would have purchased ASA with the understanding that "I'd get everything from ASE in the ASA package" since that's what you told me. If Crystal Isles and Lost Island don't get added to ASA then that's false advertising. I would never buy something from you guys again unless everything you promised was finished and given at the time of purchase. Which means that I guess for sure I won't be buying ASA till at least 2027 then.

So there is some good and bad here

The Good: I am excited for lost colony and bobs true tales, its always good to get a fresh injection of content into the game and I find these to be fair

The Bad: Fantastic Tames, I feel like the way this content is delivered is almost forced upon the community, especially with the huge amount of them coming. This content is a bit of a problem balance wise because it is essentially pay to win on one hand(creatures are overpowered) or causes people to feel ripped off(creatures are underpowered). The forced aspect being that even if you do not want to engage with this content it is a pain to disable and takes creature spawning spots on servers. I know you guys need to make money but predatory MMO-style practices aint it.

no bobs true tales with lost colony?

I believe the Bob DLCs are only for maps that used to be paid DLC in ASE. They can't sell those maps again for ASA because *large gesture at everything* obviously, but they can release an additional DLC that does make them money when a remastered map is released.

Since Lost Colony is in itself a paid DLC, there is no reason to release a paid DLC on top of it.

I mean, don't give them any ideas XD

Like other folks, I've noticed the lack of mention for Lost Island and Crystal Isles. I, too, hopethat  it was mere forgetfulness and not an intent to exclude those maps from ASA.

I understand the need to keep cash flow moving via the Fantastic Tames, but please don't force them on the folks who don't want to shell out the cash. I've seen videos of folks being attacked by Pyromanes when they can't even interact with the creature, then being forced into a purchase screen just because they don't own it. All this while being attacked in-game. It's disruptive. (The Pyromanes in the blue zone of Abberation are a great example of this. Players must progress through that zone to go deeper into the map and Pyromanes aren't uncommon there.) At the very least, keep them out of the story maps as wild spawns. Please.

As an aside, I'm hoping for updated models on some of the older/legacy dinos. The Gigantoraptor and the Yi Ling especially have some great idle animations (the wattle and the feathers on the G-raptor moving as the dinos walks is great, and that little scratch animation on the Yi Ling is awesome), and the dangling bits on the saddles add some wonderful flair; it would be phenomenal to see that same care given to some of the older dinos to bring them in line with your recent critter model/animation quality.
