Borsund
Hi! Trying to understand how item stats work, mainly cold and heat resist stats. Without anything my character has 207 cold and 150 heat resist. I have mastercraft fur gauntlets that have 114.5 cold resist and -24.6 heat resist listed on it. If I equip this item alone, my character stats are now 335 cold and 123 hear resist. Meaning that gauntlets added 128 cold and -27 heat resist to my character instead of the listed values. Through some testing on the same server another player equipped the same item. Difference in resist gained remained the same. Characters have various fortitude stats, so that means fortitude does not impact this. It also seems that item quality/rarity has no direct impact on it. There is a similar multiplier of about 1.1 times more of resist stats gained compared to what's listed on the item, though actual numbers slightly change. Tested with multiple armor items, similar results. Anyone can clarify why is there such difference? Want to understand the math behind it.

Discrepancy you're noticing occurs due to how resistance values are calculated in ARK. The game applies a multiplier to the listed resistances based on your character's existing stats (such as Fortitude), and sometimes item quality can slightly influence the final values. While the listed values are the base resistances, the actual resistances are affected by hidden modifiers or rounding that can vary slightly with different items and circumstances. Testing across multiple armor pieces and conditions is a good way to observe this behavior.
