Community Crunch 421: 'Steampunk Ascent' Cosmo Dossier!

Recommended Posts

And this is part of what I paid $30 for...almost the price of the game itself.
It's a huge mystery to me why the studio so stubbornly refuses to listen to the players opinions. After all, a studio needs money to exist, and to get money they just need to give people what they want.
But in the end we get this. A half-stolen creature that was made worse than the original and they still ask money for it. It's a shame.
Just give your work to modders, they will do it better, and studio can continue get money.

While I do understand that it's pretty scummy that they used the popularity of the Maevia to make a Jumping Spider that is locked behind a payed DLC, in all fairness, it's not like they credited the people who suggested and made concept art for Dinopithecus, Desmodus, Rhyniognatha, Carchardontosaurus, Gigantoraptor, Fasolasuchus, Shastasaurus, Yi-Qi (which I'm still salty about), and Dreadnoughtus.

That is a fair point, but they at least used the official names that the creators used for their submissions. The spider on the other hand, they used a completely different species and gave it completely different abilities compared to what Maevia had. The accreditation is not necessarily towards the creators per se, its the creatures themselves. And to see the Maevia's popularity for a long time akin to the Carcharadontosaurus and not even use it's name but still its image is still a low blow.

I probably can't recall all the specific abilities the submission creators gave all the other winning creatures, but I know for a fact the jumping spider WC made themselves does not honor Maevia at all.

It was entirely up to you to give that $30 to them without knowing what you'll get in return. Instead you could have waited untill you know what you would get and donate to those modders instead so everyone would receive the share they are entitled to.

After all, we knew already for a few years they are ignoring their customers quit often.

Yes that's true, I didn't know what content I would get on the remaining two maps after scorched earth. But I wanted to support the developers of my favorite game. Modders  I've always supported. I didn't expect that there would be such an unfair attitude towards the modder, that's why I wrote such a message. I still hoped that the final meaning of my message was precisely about the example of the Sovira case and not about the fact that I spent money.

Gotta say, I love the Cosmo and I hate spiders. I think a good way to get around the controversy though is to have the Maiva added as a free creature to Abb and give recognition to the person who originally suggested it.  The Maiva could live in the second layer of Abb in webs in the corners and be like an "adult" version of Cosmo. Maybe not even technically related, but in the same family.

Well there's a free mod that adds the Maevia, only difference is that it's called Thorax Spider

This thing is going to be so fun to use on abberation.

Hopefully its as good as the bloodstalkers swinging mechanics minus the horrible stutter.

Cosmo with climbing picks and glide suit (my all time favorite piece of gear) presents some incredible on foot mobility.

Sorry to the Maeva, no disrespect, but personally a shoulder pet with this kind of mobility sounds even better than a rideable jumping spider.

Well, technically they could say that it's another creature, because Cosmophasis is an actual genus of spiders, that's why it says Neogene on the dossier and not unknown (though should't it say Holocene? Because on Aberration Helena doesn't know that they're in the future or at least what happened to Earth, and the other creatures still have their time periods written on the dossiers, though technically they are entirely new species in most cases.)

aberration was when helena met the tek tribe with diana and santiago who were from her future. and those tek tribe people saw what happened to the earth when they nuked the overseer and could see the planet from the overseers platform.

Also a fair point. But it's still a jumping spider nonetheless, just like Maevia. Why abandon an already popular submission creature and use 90% of its image for something else? Was WC not a fan of the name or vision everyone had for it? I wish they could at least give us a reason behind the decision...

So I'm curious, it eats the larger spiders webs? So you must hunt down Areneo to use its ability? Really, it is a spider why put this in, why can't it produce its own?

This is my only reservation. Hopefully you can store a big amount of ammo because hunting down spiders and letting them web you does sound like a bit of a pain.

Yes, but then shouldn't helena classify aberration creatures as neogene too?

like almost all the creatures on the island completely overshadowed by creatures from newer maps like GEN 1 and GEN 2 by player voted creatures and Garuga creatures, if WC does nothing about it many creatures will remain and become completely useless, so much so that their presence in the game will no longer have any value. WC you do not listen to people who ask for special servers like hardcore or orp, you do not listen to all the people who ask and propose TLC for older creatures, you do not listen to those who ask to remove the possibility of removing foliage, shadows and fog to have a more correct pvp. But you waste time on mods and useless collaborations when the game is still in early access with still many problems. Often some referring to paid packages and creatures call you WC greedy and looking for easy money, but it is not true you do everything to fail and not get a cent, if you really wanted to make money you would listen to your customers.not to mention the mirage of ARK 2 and that abortion of SOTF

With this new, useful, glow pet WildCard just made the other established glow pets completely obsolete. Unless WildCard gives the other shine pets useful abilities besides just glowing they will sadly just be left behind and forgotten.

I'm never gonna abandon my boi Bulbdog, it's bros before cosmos.

Yes, I agree it will be a great addition to ab. however, it would not have hurt to have another climbing creature to ab. I suppose that they have the new yi ling, so the rideable spider wasn't as needed.
