I hope with the added performance boost of UE5.4 that you will finally disable the console commands in multiplayer, at least on console PvP.

Let's even the playing field and have everyone play the way the games meant to look, not by making the game look worse than ASE to get a advantage in PvP

For those who wanted a rideable version : I want you to know that a mod is heavily in the works by several wonderful people who are busting their butts to get a quality Maevia out there for you all to enjoy! This maevia will be coming with the original perks, including a few new variants  and it will have its own pygmy version with abilities based on the original Maevia! Keep those chins up, it will just take quite a bit of time. For now, we can at least enjoy Cyrus' awesome jumper and this new upcoming shoulder bro!!! ❤️

Though I initially thought “Cosmo” was amazingly cute, I realized that there was no recognition or accreditation whatsoever to the Maevia or its creator Sovira. The vision we all had for it has been diminished to nothing more than a shoulder pet, or worse a Chibi, hidden behind a paywall, that could have little to no use on Aberration or any of the other maps (that we know of). So far Cyrus’s Critter mod has fulfilled that vision more-so than what WC has shown.

And what’s more appalling is that the design of Cosmo looks nearly identical to Sovira’s design for their Maevia. Without accreditation this is nothing short of plagiarism. No one should condone this, even if it seems harmless to use. I propose that WC send a public apology and show accreditation to all the artist and writers who submitted their creatures that made it into the game. My heart goes to Sovira and their Maevia. Idk if it quite hits into plagerism, Sovi's spider was never specifically a peacock jumping spider, so the design/species is likely 'different enough'.  Assume they got the name from Cosmophasis micans, though honestly it looks more like Maratus volans, so thats kinda weird. That said, it's a little too close for comfort, and I can totally sympathise with Sovi being upset about it.

While I doubt it will happen...I honestly think Wildcard should reach out to Sovi. Maybe they could reach some compromise where this 'cosmo' is the male(or a baby) shoulder pet and the female(adults)are more like the original Maevia design. I would have absolutely no problem with runners up being added in bobs/fantastic if they at least bothered to consult with the people who created the idea (in fact that would be amazing and I would much prefer that to getting bastardised reimaginings of great concepts). I know there's been some rumbling about if the pyromane was also partially based on Shockal's cat (but if so that's at least a lot less blatent than this). At this point I would honestly not be shocked if the next fantastic creature is some elemental flightless bird or a void-magic whip scorpion (or if the gorgo/bastion/giant otter magically reappear on later maps).

I can understand why you feel that way.

To give some context, WC has always listened to the community and added popular request into the game. The Maevia became popular thanks to your amazing dossier and concept and thanks to the thousands of people that supported it. So when WC thanks someone, it's the community as a whole. The "community crunch" is already a thank to the community.

As for the paid part, well WC is more than fair with ASA now. You still have to buy ASA so playing is not free. Also, WC can add content, free or paid, and anyone can add content via mods, free or paid too. So if a modder want to develop a content planned by WC, he can and he can get all the reward instead of WC. Frustration can go both ways.

 

Personally, I am more than happy to learn that we will get at least 3 different jumping spiders into the game

Please remove it. It is a major source of crashes. Turn it off and see. I like the idea of keeping both but nVidia frame gen has a proven rough history and hard on support. Okay, at least have it off by default forced off if it set system wide.

On that note, Intel 13 and 14th gen cpus have had a very bad year with crashing due to several issues. Nightingale is a UE5 game. I run it without frame gen and fps capped at 40 and max 50% cpu with power saver mode (max, it overwhelms my ac) and it is smooth, so it can be done. ARK, I have to run cpu 100%  with shadows and general lighting set to high instead of epic to get frames 35ish which, honestly is fine with me as I don't see any tearing choppy mess and it certainly doesn't crash like it does with frame gen on. Fake frames doesn't cut it with me. My one system has AMD 7950x3d, nVidia 4080 Super. Another with AMD 9800x3d with 7900XTX rarely crashes. Some with 13/14th gen intels have done things with bios voltages and turned the ram speeds down with some success. Others have said screw it and going AMD.

As someone  who personally has a HUGE respect to Sovira and ark creature vote creators IN GENERAL, Cosmo being added without even a hint of a credit to Sovira, AS A ABBERANT, FLUFFY JUMPING SPIDER. Is absolutely disgusting. Its clearly inspired off of Soviras creation, with NO credit given. I agree with her, It genuinely does feel like salt in the wound of not succeeding with it, then it being so well received by the community when it was in a PAID DLC, on top of it being damn near the same thing. I am happy, that in some form it was added to the game, but it is horrendous how it was implemented. Please give some form of credit to Sovira.

So I didn't actually see the creature vote but I'm assuming sovira was the one who originally created the Cosmo or at least some form of it and it got second place in the creature vote so SW made this thing without crediting him

That person doesn't have a patent on 'spider'. They can put a spider in their game if they want, name it what they want.

Yeah, RX 6000 and newer has AI cores.. But AMD FSR 3.1 IS NOT AI and it doesn't require AI cores to run currently. AMD won't add AI to FSR 3.1, it will be another version and completely irrelevant to this.

Who said I have a powerful PC? I have a RTX 2060 Super from 2019, I can barely run the game on low without DLSS or FSR3.0. I implied FSR will be worse for people with powerful PCs, not that I have one.

Obviously no one has a patent on "spider" or for example "sword," but if I design a specific unique sword that I own the rights to, a movie production company can't just rip my design off without coming to some agreement with me first.

I thought the shoulder pet version was the same spider as the voting submission one, just altered to be a shoulder pet. Only when I read the comments here did I find out thats not the case.

It's clearly a rip off. I guess the monetization efforts for ark have hit such a desperate level that WC is just outright stealing community designs now. Shameless.

The so called specific unique spider is a jumping spider, that's like calling a katana a sword, jumping spiders are popular and Cosmo is completely different from Eureka, it's a shoulder pet, based on a different species of jumping spider, considering both of them are jumping spider's it also has a totally different design and we don't know what it does yet, is it possible WildCard decided to add a jumping spider because of the submission? sure does that mean they're stealing the idea? definitely not, if it ends up getting the same abilities sure you could say they stole ideas from Sovira but that doesn't mean that the concept of a jumping spider in Ark is a stolen idea, they also have reason to add it since they know we like it because the Eureka did so good in the votes and it would almost have to be a shoulder pet instead of a mount since (so far at least) the Bob's Tall Tales DLC hasn't added anything that would help you in pvp like how the Oasisaur can't deal any damage, ideally I think Cosmo would serve as basically a premium light pet, either A: improving the other light pets by allowing it to sit on your other shoulder, B: take parts of each light pet since they all have their own strength and combining them into basically an ultimate light pet or C, giving it the light emmision and some small QoL abilities like a Yuty scare for small creatures (maybe Seekers to make sure they don't bother you while the light is on or Nameless to add to them countering the Nameless), or maybe adding something related to the climbing picks or zipline like since the climbing picks are just terrible and the zipline requires the equipment on the pants to be good, I've also seen people say it could be like a reusable bola or grappling hook, we'll see when the dossier and eventually the creature itself drops but for now I think it's too soon to say it's a ripoff

Considering how amazing and cool the oasisaur was, I was really exciting to see what aberration could do especially considering its alien vibes, so seeing a little shoulder pet is kind of disappointing because I was hoping for something more exciting and game changing, but I’m still excited for it and I’m sure cosmo will be a great addition nonetheless

I'm hoping WC will let us cryo the Oasisaur soon, it is good to re-incarnate dinos, but it takes too much of the dino cap and most people that have one (at least on my servers) just have it sitting on their base doing nothing but causing a slight lag for people flying over.  It was a nice idea that lots of players wanted but the notion has now worn off on.

I absolutely support it. The studio's make a bad decision with creature. Maybe if we collect enough votes they will reconsider the decision and make it rideable. We need to support the author.

Here's a simple fact : Cosmo exists only because of Maevia Eureka. The popularity is what it's riding on the back of, and what they did is entirely legal and I never said it wasn't. 

But since when, was it okay to use your fans, when they've poured so much work into something that originally would've been free or not there at all, take that very work and make it into your own altered version - (YES Shoulder-buddy was in Maevia's idea list) - and throw it back in their faces with a price tag attached to it. This sets a precedent that they are using their fans for profit. Just because it's legal doesn't make it any less unethical.
