Please return the original Survival of the Fittest (SOTF) mode; the current matchmaking system is extremely frustrating. Instead of smoothly entering a game queue and being placed in a server with the most players, as is typical in most battle royale games, players are forced to sift through numerous empty servers in search of one with a decent population. Even when joining a seemingly populated server, it often turns out that the match has already begun. Furthermore, the initial moments of the game lack excitement compared to the original SOTF experience. While the Quetzal battle bus is an intriguing addition, the original method of dropping all players from the sky onto a large platform allowed for more diverse strategies, reminiscent of the Hunger Games.
Moreover, the current iteration of SOTF lacks key features such as crafting, real taming mechanics, and custom events. These custom events, like the carnivore drop and beast within, added significant variety and excitement to matches. Additionally, PvP gameplay suffers in the new SOTF due to the necessity of taming numerous dinosaurs to succeed, limiting diversity in play styles such as guns-only strategies. The HUD design also leaves much to be desired, resembling that of a mobile game.
While it's understood that efforts are being made to rejuvenate the game, it would be more beneficial to revert to the original SOTF and refine it rather than attempting a complete overhaul. Suggestions for improvement include reverting to the original version, increasing player weight, simplifying crafting requirements, removing the hunger and thirst bar mechanics, reintroducing the RTS mode allowing players to control dinos upon death, and addressing performance issues from the original version. For a clearer understanding of these suggestions, I encourage reviewing footage of the old SOTF on platforms like YouTube.
