The dev's have said that they're going to release TWO creatures for each map, one community voted creature and one they pick themselves (usually from failed submissions). the Maevia Eureka has been in many top tens just as the carcharodontosaurus did. So I predict that if it were to fail the extinction vote, and your own admission, not win any subsequent votes, there is a good chance the dev's would incorporate it into aberration as their own choice just as they did with the carcharodontosaurus.

Better to let it leave while people still regard it fondly than have it turn into the beetle where it keeps coming back with more and more over the top clutter
