Community Crunch 374: The Center Creature Submissions, EVO Event, and More!

If you've ever wanted to see your favorite creature added to ARK, now's your chance! There are only a few days left to submit an idea for The Center on ARK: Survival Ascended. Take a look and upvote your favorite creature submissions from the community before the top 10 vote takes place on Monday, August 14th!

Although there's been a brief pause on ARK: Survival Ascended comparisons, we'll have more to show soon!

 

Let's take a trip down memory lane as we embark on our journey to The Center for our next Community Creature Contest. What will be the fan-voted real-world creature that will launch with the map for ARK: Survival Ascended? 

Please note that this creature will be released for The Center, so make sure your real-world submissions are in theme with that map! As previously stated, we’ll add an additional real-world creature for each expansion pack map release on ARK: Survival Ascended.

Check out the Creature Submission Guidelines for more information on the submission process, and hop over to the Creature Submission Forum to see the current entries. We are looking forward to seeing your ideas come to life!

• The entry period will end at 1 PM Pacific on August 14th.
• The voting will begin immediately after and end on August 21st at 1PM Pacific.
• The winner will be announced in the Crunch of August 25th.

*Note that the proposed features for the creatures from the submission entry are meant to inspire their design, but certain aspects may still be modified.

Survivors on all platforms will be receiving an EVO Event! It will be active until Monday, August 14th.
All Official Servers across each platform will be undergoing this evolutionary change which includes:

• ARKpocalypse are monthly-wipe servers with higher than usual rates.
• Beginner servers are wiped periodically to help provide a fresh beginner experience for new players.

We will not to see this "Aberration" chicken at front page.
Actual dev crew needs to be very different from the one that designed Aberration.

I would hope so, considering you have a release in about two months, if nothing is delayed. Which as we all are aware is always a big "if", but you know, so far that's the information we have. And basically all the information we have.

That's half true. It was the creature that was elected, but not the model that was elected. A lot of people have issues with its WildCard design.

So out of curiosity…after all the creature submissions are done for every map (DLC and story), will that be it for creature submissions? If not, do you guys have anything more planned? I was thinking it’ll be cool to do specific creature submissions, such as one for all shoulder pets, all aquatics, all flyers, etc. 

Thoughts?

And another question: I know the team enforced a new rule to limit each submitter to one win and that’s it. But as a submission creator myself—both art and writing-wise—maybe the rule could be at least altered so creators can submit something at least for every other vote? Like they can’t partake in the one after they win but can two or three votes from now. 

And lastly, as a fun suggestion: would the team be willing to have honorable mentions for the Top 10 votes after the winner has been announced? I feel as though those who worked hard to write and illustrate their creatures should at least receive some recognition. There’s so many that have the capability to shine and I think it might help bring everyone together! 

I wasn’t sure who to message directly about this, so I figured I’d put it here.

Personally I think it'd be amazing to get things in motion for a quarterly creature eventually, and make it a regular thing. Could even be some sort of season pass, if Mollusc Entertainment wants to monetize it and as long as the creatures' abilities don't become so OP that it creates a p2w situation.

At the moment this is the most fun speculation about Ark... and it's coming entirely from the community. I was saying to a friend just this week that the creature submissions do more about making us fantasize about playing in ASA than any tree ever teased. This is exactly what I needed to not completely lose faith in all this.

Glad you don't lose hope ! My Aquilarhinus is doing surprisingly well and I didn't expect that. It's sitting right outside the Top10 so I don't know how it'll end, but what a rush to hear everyone's feedback !
I'm already preparing my next submissions (I have too many ideas to suggest the same creature twice XD ), and it's the most fun I'm having thinking about ASA by far. So I understand very well why you don't want it to end

I think a good way for ALL submissions to shine, even those stuck in the back pages at 2 or 3 votes, would be if that submissions forum was a gallery instead. We could see a lot more submissions at one glance, and a lot more people would have a chance to show what kind of creature they're offering. Like you said, let everyone's creations shine !

That actually might not be a bad idea! A full gallery would be amazing especially! Though to limit it, they might only do those above 100 votes or so haha. But yeah, I’ll have to check your creature out! 😁

You seem to have missed their point chief. They aren’t saying Yi Ling as a creature isn’t what was voted for, they mean the design choice isn’t what was voted for. People voted for a lithe gliding peacock of a creature and got a terror bird reskin.

Why limit it if we want everyone to have a chance to be seen ?
Maybe there would be several pages of gallery, so creatures with few votes would be one click further, but it'd still be easier than trying to tease people with a species name... who knows without looking what an Ardeosaurus, a Tenrec or a Thanatotheristes look like ?

Just me sitting over here silently hoping the center gets a second vote so it has 2 unique dinos like all the other maps do...

It's the map I started on & it's always felt really unfinished compared to the rests of the maps. Sorta of like a island reskin to me.

This has got to be one of the most pointless crunches ever. I mean come on, Wildcard. I get that you post every Friday, but at this rate, why even post anything? The release of ASA is two months away and the community still knows next to nothing about it. It’s incredibly frustrating.

if you’re having trouble developing it that’s fine, but at least have the integrity to be transparent with your playerbase about it.

That is true 🤔 I was probably thinking from a presentation perspective since there would be hundreds of submissions to look through. But I'll retract that statement about limiting the honorable mentions haha. And those creatures sound really cool! I may have to look them up! Also I LOVE tenrecs!!! We have a few at the Cincinnati Zoo!
