living s+ nanny Maiasaura: The Ultimate Mother to All Creatures

DragonHorse

Suggestion

I see a lot of complaints about the maiasaura's looks; what would you change about it? : r/jurassicworldevo

Wild:

If there is one Dinosaur That i would describe as the perfect mother to all creatures, its Maiasaura makuahine. This Hadrosaur is a very caring creature to all of the babies of the ark even those of carnivorus predators. Maiasaura will care for any baby creature as if it was her own forming a bond that would last a life time!! it would even go as far as to defend any baby dinosaur should there one be in danger putting its motherly instincts at full force against the babies attacker. it bonds with any baby whether they be wild or tribe raised making some tribes let Maiasaura raise their babies to gain her trust.

Domesticated:

Maisasaura is a must have for tribes in need of raising large amounts of baby creatures for their tribe. Maiasaura will naturally imprint on any baby creature of your tribe feeding it and imprinting it as it grows!! Babies that Maiasaura fully imprints will also be slightly stronger that babies that survivors have imprinted making Maiasaura an absoulute neccessity for tribes who want to raise the strongest tames!!

Abilities:

Left Click: Thumb Jab

Right Click: Bite

C Key: Motherly Call: Calls any babies wild or tamed to Maiasaura. This also decreases the amount of food babies need to eat for a period of time

Passives:

Feeding: Maiasaura will feed any baby dinosaur in a radius as long as she has food in their inventory

Imprinting: Maiasaura will imprint any creatures in a certain radius. Any baby creature that is fully imprinted by Maiasaura will be much stronger than survivor imprinted creatures

Maiasaura, known as the Good Mother Lizard, is a larger sized saurolophine hadrosaurid that can be found in large herds. Unlike in prehistoric times, which the herds could be in the thousands, those on the Arks travel in much smaller packs that max out at 12-15 individuals that consist of all females and one male. The females nest together for safety, not only for hatching eggs but raising their young as well since the babies are unable to walk for the first part of their life. While most would consider the male the most dangerous, it is actually the females that can cause the most damage as they will all attack anything that gets too close to their nesting grounds. And despite lacking any real weapons, such as fangs or claws, they can unleash an ear shattering bellow that is capable of scaring off any smaller predators like raptors. If the bellow doesn't work, they can lift themselves on their hind legs and bring themselves down ontop of the target with their full weight in a type of body slam that will do some serious damage. And if faced off against something large such as a Rex, they can deal a devastating blow with a tail swing. To make these fierce mothers ever more dangerous, they get a stacking pack boost to increase their strength. Even the hungriest predator might think twice about taking on a herd of these protective mothers.

You can't directly tame an adult Maiasaura. If you wish to have one of your own, you have to brave the herd and steal an egg or claim any babies that have hatched in the nests. But it is advised to either work as a tribe to accomplish this or make sure you have a very powerful creature. And do not think that you can merely lead the parents off and then run in as the mothers will not stray too far from their nests. They make their nesting grounds in a wide variety of environments including forests, jungles, grasslands and some are bold enough to be found in arid regions so long as there is enough greenery around and water to survive.

Domesticated:
Female Maiasaura when claimed by a person will still instinctively be motherly to any herbivore babies that it encounters once its an adult. It will ensure that they stay fed, gathering berries on its own from nearby bushes if any babies start to starve. When tamed they are still capable of everything that they do in the wild.

Abilities:
Bellow - They can bellow and scare off smaller predators, similar to that of the Parasaur. They will be unable to bellow again for a couple minutes.
Tail Whip - They are capable of delivering a powerful tail whip. And if they get lucky enough to hit a weak spot, such as the head or any critical spot, they can cause a small 2-3 stun on the target.
Body Slam - They can rear up on their hind limbs and drop their full weight on smaller creatures. Doing so is hard on them so they can only do it every so often and will need to recover a few seconds after using this move.
Pack Boost - Being a herd creature, they get a pack boost of up to +8.
Gathering - They can gather berries at an exceptional rate, rivaling Theris. They are also capable of gathering Fiber, unlike other similar creatures, as well as some thatch and minimal wood like the Iguanodon.

The stats of this creature seems to be about the same as the Allosaurus, which given the Maiasaura's pack boost makes it a possible Boss fighting herbivore. Their saddle is also capable of holding 2 people, a driver and a passenger.

This Hadrosaurus, which had a small bony elevation between its eyes and lived at the end of the Cretaceous period approximately 66 million years ago, behaved like birds, going to the same region every year to lay their eggs and care for of the calf as a true dedicated mother. It dug a not very deep hole in the earth, lined it with plants and laid its eggs.

Despite being much larger than its version known by paleontology, the Maiasaurus from the ark continues to be, as its name implies, a “good mother”! while the females are docile and adopt any egg or chick they find, the males are true super territorial battle tanks, always spawning in pairs and reproducing in specific places with plenty of vegetation and mild climate like Titans Rise for example;

SKILLS:

# forward or backward kicks, depending on where you're looking (Right button🖱️);
# attack with the tail, does less damage but pushes enemies in the area;
# defense stance, assumes a stance that reduces incoming damage (X);

- females -
# healing power in the area (spacebar);
# can take care of any baby, but only one at a time, doing the whole imprinting process alone;
# generates a “Mother Bonus", which multiplies some of her stats and on the creatures she cares for, while they are close to each other. (maybe it can also help tame the wild babies of the Ascended ARK);

- males -
# defense roar that when tamed, works in an area, that is, on all your creatures within a certain range (spacebar);
# for having more health and resistance, males are able to use a customized saddle to protect their owners from heat and cold, in addition to having thorns that can be supplied with bio toxin, titanoboa venom or narcotics from the game, affecting the enemies when being attacked (Bio Toxin- paralysis / Titanoboa's Venom - poison damage / Narcotic - stupor);

DOMESTICATION:

Approach the female in camouflage clothing, so as not to attract the male's attention, give her a vegetable cake and then a fertilized egg or any chick! when she takes him to a nest and lies down next to him she will become like an extinction drop or an OSD, attracting hordes of predators and the couple will start to be tamed while you protect the female (the male becomes an ally when he kills the 1st predator), taming will only fail if you or the female die, so use food and healing potion to keep her alive! (the amount of hordes will depend on the level of the couple, for example, 10 hordes, with 20 predators each, for a couple above level 100);

-Observation: it's not meant to be too easy or too difficult, it's meant to be a fun challenge, between the middle and late game;
