The Didelphodon can rarely be seen because it’s high level of intelligence. A adaptation likely gained because of its preferred food, eggs!

One would think that because of their insatiable appetite for eggs they would be the bane of breeders, but in fact the opposite is true. After domestication they can be trained to help with artificial selection
The main ability would be to suppress the spawning of animals who are a lower level than the Didelphodon and replace them with higher level creatures
The second ability would be to increase the chance of a mutation if the creature was a lower level than the Didelphodon
the third is if a animal was spawn suppressed the natural drops would be added into the Didelphodon inventory
Because of its size it would be a shoulder pet perfect to take with you on taming adventures
Tools could be used in a off hand slot for a variety of effects
Once tamed they would not have to eat as they can gather their own food
