Hi Fellow Survivors,

I am suggesting the Shunosaurus as the newest dinosaur to join the Scorched earth map. A large sauropod which roams the Northern Mountains and dunes, it would be the Jack of all trades harvester. Able to harvest stone, sand, flint, metal, crystal, sand and obsidian with its tail, and Wood, thatch, Cactus, berries, and fiber with its beak. However, its harvesting abilities really show once more tribe mates join in. Its normal saddle is able to hold 2 riders, with one controlling the tail of the Shunosaurus, and the other controlling the head and movement of the Shunosaurus. This saddle can even be equipped with tents, allowing you to gather resources through sand-storms. This allows it to harvest resources at a much increased rate, compared to other creatures. In herds, the mighty Shunosaurus is capable of scaring off even Alpha death worms, making them the ideal dune traveler. Able to be equipped with a platform saddle, unfortunately losing its back-hoe like ability, it's the resource gatherer or nomad's ultimate companion.

Shunosaurus - Wikipedia

Dossier

Group: Sauropod

Diet: Herbivore

TemperamentDocile

Wild: A true titan of the desert, the Shunosaurus is most definitely a force to be reckoned with. A close cousin of the Island's Brontosaurus, it is supremely well adapted to this vast desert. Found wandering the northern deserts, in herds the Shunosaurus fears only the wyverns, steering well clear of the World scar. Curiously, this dinosaur is much bigger than it's real world counterpart. Given that its frame is much more similar to the mighty Titanosaur or Diplodocus than the Brontosaurus, I have to wonder if it is some type of crossbreed to adapt it better such a hostile environment. I would advise any survivor to be very wary around these dinosaurs, as if threatened, they will use their large size and clubbed tails to deadly effect.

Tamed: A docile dinosaur, domesticating the Shunosaurus is no easy task. Their skin, keeping them safe from the frequent sandstorms, is too thick for any tranquilizing dart, arrow, or even harpoon to pierce. Also extremely wary of any attempts to feed them, the Shunosaurus may seem impossible to tame. However, I have met tribes who have managed to tame this desert sauropod. According to them, the Shunosaurus seems to have a curious relationship with the mighty rock golem. Apparently, if you lead a Shunosaurus to a rock golem and allow them to start attacking it without getting hit back, they will start to gain trust in you. The tribe recommended using stone to lead the Shunosaurus away from its herd. However, this trial is well worth it. The Shunosaurus seems to have an almost prehensile tail, allowing for 2 riders to control the head and tail, making it an invaluable resource gatherer.

Equipment:

Shunosaurus saddle (Unlocked Level 71

Shunosaurus Platform saddle (Unlocked Level 78)

Drops:

Hide

Raw Meat

Raw Prime Meat

Guaranteed

Sauropod vertebra

Behavior:

Docile unless provoked, if one Shunosaurus is attacked, the whole herd will defend against the intruder, using swings of their club tails and slams from their heads.

Taming:

The way to tame the Shunosaurus is rather unique, as the Shunosaurus is unable to be tranquilized and will not accept food. The way the Shunosaurus taming would work is that you would lure your chosen Shunosaurus away from the herd by either using stone, dropping it much like eggs when trying to tame a basilisk. Eventually you would lead it to a rock golem, which the Shunosaurus will attack once in range. Every hit the Shunosaurus gets in will increase the taming meter by 15-20%. However, if the Shunosaurus's health gets below 50%, it will flee. You must attack the rock golem in between hits from the Shunosaur to ensure the rock golem stays focused on you. You can use an unconscious rock golem, however each hit from the Shunosaur would only get you 5-10% taming increase.

Utility:

Abilities:

Regular saddle:

Head swing (Front seat): A head swing with a large AOE, small amount of damage with knock back. It harvests Wood, Cactus, SAnd

Head bite (Front seat): A bite with a small AOE, large amounts of damage and no knock back. It harvests Thatch, Fiber, Berries

Tail swing (Back seat): A Swing of the back tail, reasonable amounts of damage and knock back. It harvests Flint, Crystal, Sulfur

Tail slam (Back seat): A ground slam with a bit of a charge time (similar to the desert titan's tail strikes), Large amounts of damage and knock back. It harvests Stone, Metal, Obsidian

Platform saddle:

Rotate Controls: Allows you to rotate control of the Head/Movement and the Tail

Head swing: A head swing with a large AOE, small amount of damage with knock back. It harvests Wood, Cactus, SAnd

Head bite: A bite with a small AOE, large amounts of damage and no knock back. It harvests Thatch, Fiber, Berries

Tail swing: A Swing of the back tail, reasonable amounts of damage and knock back. It harvests Flint, Crystal, Sulfur

Tail slam: A ground slam with a bit of a charge time (similar to the desert titan's tail strikes), Large amounts of damage and knock back. It harvests Stone, Metal, Obsidian

Roles:

1. Harvester: With the Shunosaurus being able to harvest almost every resource on scorched earth, that 2 people can gather with it at once, and weight reductions for most resources, makes it the ultimate harvester.

2. Dune traveler: Being unable to aggro Death worms or even Alpha death worms when in a herd of 3 or more, makes this an excellent traveler across the dunes, especially if you are going for the loot crates.

3. Nomadic companion: Able to be equipped with a platform saddle, immunity from effects of sandstorms, as well as the aforementioned abilities makes this a nomad's ultimate companion.

4. Siege engine: Able to damage structures up to metal tier with it's tail slams, along with its large frame and platform saddle, means that this dinosaur can be used as an effective siege engine, able to break through enemy walls.

Here are my reasons to have this be on Scorched Earth

1. It allows for a much easier way to gather Loot crates out in the dunes, only being bothered by Wyverns if in a herd.

2. It allows you to do something in a sandstorm

3. It allows you to go on 1 big resource gathering trip, instead of having to go back to switch out creatures to farm a different resource.

4. It's large frame and heavy tail attacks make it a good siege weapon, especially against metal bases, which can't be damaged by rock golems.
