StrandedAndStoopid
This has been suggested every vote, and dont think it’s gonna change. With these 3 votes (actually so we get votes for gen/2?) oh and there’s probably a vote for the new story map. Either way, you get the point, lemme get to mine. It’s a cool concept, but I don’t think it particularly fire in any of the arks. Maybe the new one but even then, that’s a draw Of the cards to see if the new map feels quite alien enough for this thing. It’s a really unique idea but it’s most at home at abb, and even then I feel like it would be neglected and people would do what we’ve always done and go for the drakes. I’m rambling idk. I just don’t really think we need a doed on steroids for now, maybe later

It is considered an extinct genus of crocodylomorphs from the Late Cretaceous period. The armor plating is a cluster of osteoderms, which are also present in modern crocodiles; in Armadillosuchus, these structures are closely adjacent. The armor was probably flexible and had protective properties, covering the body, neck, and nape of the creature. Based on its close relatives, it is believed that the creature had a nocturnal and terrestrial lifestyle, unlike modern crocodiles. It is possible that the Armadillosuchus could dig burrows or occupy others, and it is considered to have been omnivorous. In terms of lifestyle, these features link it to modern hedgehogs, armadillos, and aardvarks. Two images, Armadillosuchus (left) and his relatives (right). Appearance - Armadillosuchus resembles a hybrid of Kaprosuchus and Doedicurus. Unlike the Kaprosuchus, this creature is less fond of moisture and feels more comfortable on warm soil that can warm its body. However, in particularly cool or hot environments, it becomes uncomfortable, and it begins to bury itself in sand or soil to regulate its temperature. His armor is smooth, but covered with small growths similar to spikes that help when rolling through the desert. Along the creature's back, these spikes are more pronounced, and the creature extends them during aggression to appear larger. Symbiosis with jerboas. Armadillos can be found in the company of these small but very cute creatures. They act as sentinels and warn of approaching danger or changes in weather, in exchange for protection. Size - the creature is larger than Doedicurus and comparable in size to Andrewsarchus. Behavior - Aggressive creatures attack the wild Armadillosuchus. Even small creatures, like Raptors, are capable of attacking the creature. Typically, this creature is neutral, but it can change its behavior depending on the weather conditions. In a thunderstorm, the creature becomes aggressive toward the player, which can make the taming process difficult. At night and during intense heat, the creature buries itself and hides in its shell, making it difficult to tame, and the process of killing it becomes more challenging. During a sandstorm, the creature becomes more pliable, making the taming process more effective and faster, while the food also becomes more effective. In the rain, the behavior is similar to that during a sandstorm, only the opposite. The creature becomes less malleable, and the taming process becomes longer. Spawn locations - dunes, an edge of the map. They can always be found near "Water Vein". In other areas, they are extremely rare. Drops: Meat Hide Keratin Wild: Active AbilitiesDust cloud. If the creature's health drops to 20%, it will start running away. It will curl up into its shell and begin rolling, leaving behind a trail in the form of a dust cloud.Wild: Passive AbilitiesThe disease "Silicosis". Occurs when a survivor comes into contact with the dust cloud left by the Wild Armadillo. Wearing a "Gas Mask" is necessary to prevent the disease from affecting the character. The disease cannot be transmitted to other players in PvP. The disease imposes the following effects on the character: Survivors move and attack in close combat 20% slower, and resources in the inventory weigh 20% more. This applies to resources that weigh more than 10 units per stack. The number of oxygen attribute units decreases by 50% during the illness. Armor. In any form, the Wild Armadillo has 25% damage resistance due to its armor. Like Carbonemys, there are certain areas on its body where its armor will be ignored when hit by a projectile. The creature doesn't have passive abilities in this mode.Roller Mode. Description. This is the ideal way to move on the Armadillo. The Armadillo's ability to move in the form of a roller, similar to a Doedicurus, with one exception - it can move for an unlimited amount of time. Like the Woolly Rhino, the Armadillo gradually gains speed, and when the creature has reached its maximum speed, it can crush creatures and players (It can do this at low speeds, but it will have a weak effect). If the creature takes damage while moving, it will lose speed. Try to accelerate the creature to its maximum speed and hit enemy players and creatures, this will allow you to knock them down and paralyze them with the "Stunned!" debuff. Currently, the "Stunned!" debuff is used by creatures such as the Purlovia, Baryonyx, and Microraptor. The creature has a 15% reduction in damage from any type of projectile while in this mode. You also have access to unique attacks for the creature, which involve the use of dust and sand clouds. Some types of creatures can resist them, such as Wyverns. Image. Armadillo in roller mode.Roller Mode. Active Abilities.Sand Cloud v.1. The Armadillo spins in place and raises a dust cloud that damages survivors and applies corresponding effects to them. The attack can have a large area of effect.Sand Cloud v.2. Passive Abilities.New creature positive buff "On a slope". If the creature moves on a sloping terrain for five seconds, it will receive a 15% buff to its movement speed.New character negative buff "Sand Corrosion". When this status is active, the armor of survivors and tamed creatures will lose durability. It deals 1 damage per second and 5 or 10 damage if the survivor has no armor. It applies to survivors who enter the cloud. The status disappears when leaving the affected area.New creature positive buff "Digging down". Description: The creature starts digging This allows you to quickly switch to drilling mode. The creature receives a buff when creating a sand cloud on the spot (Sand Cloud v.1).Drill Mode. Description. When activated, Armadillo will start digging and burrowing into the ground, assuming a static position and becoming immobile. The rider inside the Armadillo is invulnerable, but they cannot dismount while on the creature in this mode. While in this mode, it can rotate and harvest resources. It will gather all resources within a certain range around itself. The creature in the drill mode has 75% resistance to damage from projectiles and Auto-Turrets. Image. Armadillo in drill mode.Drill Mode. Active Abilities.Rotation. When activated, the creature will begin to rotate and harvest resources. It mines loose-type resources such as raw salt and sand. It can also mine sparkpowder from stones that do not contain sand inside them. It directly extracts it without the need for a mortar and pestle. A fully charged Armadillo can reflect bullets fired from firearms or Auto-Turrets while rotating. Reflected bullets deal 25% less damage and ricochet back toward the shooter, dealing 50% reduced damage. The chance to reflect a bullet is 20%. If the shooter is an Auto-Turret, the reflected bullet will not damage its durability, but there is a 5% chance that it will be disabled for 5 seconds. Note: It is possible that Velonasaur projectiles can also be reflected using this creature. Velonasaur projectiles stun Velonasaurs (debuff "Stunned!"). Drill Mode. Passive Abilities.New creature positive buff "The camouflage position". In drill mode, wild creatures will not pay attention to the Armadillo and its rider.New creature positive buff "Charged speed". Description: Armadillo is ready to break forward When activated, it allows for quick and maximum-speed switching to roller mode. The creature will receive a positive effect if fully spun up (Rotation).Tent Mode. Description. In this mode, the creature has the abilities of an original tent, providing the player with protection from extreme temperatures and weather conditions. When an Armadillo lies down and curls up, it becomes static and allows the player to lie inside it.Image. Armadillo in tent mode.Tent Mode. Active Abilities.Wyvern egg incubator. You can put a Wyvern egg in the special inventory slot of an Armadillo, and the creature will start incubating it until the egg incubation progress reaches zero. Once the egg is fully incubated, it will remain in this slot. If a player wants to lie inside the creature while the egg is inside it, the egg will fall inside its inventory (a warning message will appear above the creature, indicating an egg inside). Note: it is possible to incubate Magmasaur and Rock Drake eggs. Tamed: Passive Abilities"Courage". During a sandstorm, the creature will receive the "Courage" buff. The creature will receive this buff in all its forms. You can also get this buff by using the courage roar on a Yutyrannus. Luux
You know. Ironically the suggestions are limited to being only real-world dinosaurs. But this is literally one of the perfect maps to do something not just based on real creatures but morpheus hybrids of them. Scorched Earth is already littered with weird hybrid and 3 steps from reality versions of several kinds of creatures, like Jerboas, Morellatops, Thorny Lizards, etc. If they can have an excuse to put a Praying Mantis the size of a motorcycle in this map and an attack helicopter that lays eggs in dinosaurs in the last vote why not a jacked-up demolition armadillo vaguely resembling the IRL one. Imo the sketched art is way better and if we just got a slightly harder scaled protoalligator or megalania looking guy, I'd argue make this thing ridiculous within reason. However it has problems. For one, balancing. I can see why anyone would think this creature is cool and want it in the game off that merit, but this creature has to not only fit into a map that has been relatively unchanged and dedicated to limiting your dino pool, especially when it comes to tames that can survive the wildlife when it comes to something as simple as traveling, but not overstepping and becoming something that either rolls right over (no pun intended) most if not all the other tames or invalidates important parts of the map an it's mechanics/progression. The Armadillosuchus passes the first test of fitting the map theme fairly well, at least 6-7/10. Armadillos don't necessarily live that often in true deserts but we do know that the map didn't used to be so desolate, at least by a bit. So it wouldn't be stretch that a monster of one could certainly avoid the way of a dodo or jerboa and grow several times bigger, stronger, and tougher. One area it might overstep is the food chain. Scorched Earth's dino roster is kept selective by not only what would more likely to actually be left of the original Island roster but what might evolve or adapt (even if giant furry sloths are a bit of a stretch for this place, plus they invalidate the challenge and danger of Deathworms to a shameful amount.) but the issue with whether it fits in or not theme wise can't argue for if it ends up being the Bloodstalker of Scorched. The reason for this is it'd obviously be probably the best mode of transport on the map, native to that map. Wyverns are supposed to be the Apex tame, the one that usually offers the greatest travel and general survival potential for that specific map. My issue Is this creature might not only steamroll every other creature but them too, which just wouldn't do justice to Scorched, especially if nothing else changed as well as it either bulldozes or harmlessly speeds away from every threat. Also, depending on how this creature is made to function physics wise, will it invalidate every other Wyvern Egg retrieval method? If it did become a part of this map, they'd have to make sure this creature doesn't literally leave every other one in the dust and be a stat-inflated nightmare compared to everything else like the Shadowmane is. It also shouldn't be more dangerous than the greatest threats on the map, like Wyverns, Rock Golems and Deathworms. It also shouldn't beat a Rex without breaking a sweat unless it's using constant chained attacks over and over, over a minute or more. Therefore you can't just juggle them to death in 5 strikes or less in a constant charge like you can do with Rhinos in Genesis 1 (I've done this intl the snow biome and it's ludicrous what you can kill semi-instantly if you do this). Imo this is anywhere from a mid to higher-mid tier creature in progression, and it should not only be as rare but difficult to obtain and reasonably balanced to fit it. It shouldn't spawn often. As often as maybe some of Arks more uncommon creatures like either Spinos or Sheep on the Island. This way they aren't everywhere and you aren't getting accosted by them either if they are in any way aggressive or strong, or taking over the spawns of anything else in an invasive way. One idea for this creature's spawning and daycycle habits is it could be something that occasionally curls up into its ball form to sleep or burrow under the ground, say to cool off from the sun. Maybe even it could have a special ability where it can do so with a rider in order to shield them from the elements in a way that actually makes sense as opposed to them magically protecting you just from their mass, which isn't that bad of a stretch but I think burrowing somewhat would also make sense. Maybe even submerge itself in the sand like an actual alligator or sort of like the other half of its namesake name. Another feature could be it's tongue, while this is already way out there as far as any logic is concerned, say you did give them a tongue for grappling, could it do something else too? Maybe harvest insects, or even the trees that drop Sap, or Beehives? What if this ended up being a niche gatherer, and rather than just giving it some normal versatile gathering like the Theri or Megatherium it instead had a small selection of things it gathered better that are not as commonly given creatures or methods too? Maybe it could even have a tameable preference to a certain food individual to it, think like the Moschops but instead of a rare ingredient roulette that gives you a headache its things that it has a skill at gathering naturally, and Wild ones only know one at a time. But by breeding them you could get offspring that combine them. So part of taming it would include feeding it the right food whether by bait or simple dangerous trial and error. The list of food could be - Honey, Sap, Chitin, maybe others If there are any others that matter or make sense. While looking up the actual animal I found that it was assumed to be an omnivore, and the things it might have eaten include things like roots, trees, creatures like mollusks, or arthropods (this not only supports the behavior of burrowing, but of it eating other foods outside an omnivorous diet, possibly according to where it might have adapted to live in the harsh deserts of the map but also supports the use of it underwater as an oddball under the sea, like Andrewsarchus and the Rock Golems can. Where it could be used to harvest things like Chitin from Trilobites or even stuff from the Eurypterids (Sea Scorpion). Armadillosuchus doesn't have to be just purely a PvP creature and it would suck to see it ripped from any interesting roles in the actual game and map its being advertised for like they did the Armargasaurus, where they took the not only the second small sauropod of Ark but the third one not counting the Titanosaur (Cause it literally ranks as the worst dino in the game for me lower than even Liopluerodon, cause even that creature could be revamped into something interesting mechanically, but the Titanosaur is just an invasive pain that exists for no other good reason than to annoy you and take up space with how unreasonably huge they are compared to how terrible they do at offering anything that adds to the game from their existence) and then destroyed all its potential for anything but a few debuffs and countering high armor saddles (which I know Isn't useless but is that really all it should have done?) And while that purpose of being the primitive powerhouses for certain roles was important for the Lose Island creatures I really hope this one doesn't go the way of the Amargasaurus. But while it can be used for PvP it shouldn't only be limited to a few pitiful uses, it's more robust and tanky than the Bloodstalker and while it may share certain weaknesses and mechanics like being weak to fire potentially (not only utilizing certain items like oil jars but fire arrows and wyverns or even Phoenixes as the sneak counter) it doesn't have to only be for mobility and destroying things. But those two aspects are a good starting point, at least two thirds of the creature and I honestly wished we had other dinos with more demo-based capabilities, like Pachyrhinos or Doeds being able to help with demolishing and possibly gathering more resources from the demolished items. Something small that could actually help people that aren't using the higher tier creatures yet and could really help with building. As for its taming method getting it to smash into walls to tame it alone seems a bit simple (in everything but building cost) I think it could be used In combination with a method of baiting it. Either with food or provoking it. Here are 3 ideas on how to do it. 1. You tame is by luring it into Walls or structures to smash into, gaining percentage based on the structure quality, highest speed would be Adobe but higher tiers would reward more effectiveness, basically like how Mutton works versus Kibble. It's aggressive or territorial by nature and by aggroing it you can begin taming. Or hide by using things like Bug Spray or Ghilli to keep it from smelling you unless you poke it intentionally. 2. It's tamed by trapping it first with a Large Bear Trap, then feeding it with food, each one has a different food preference, and if you get it wrong you anger it, making it chase you and attack for a while before calming down. If you get it right, it will eat the food and gain effectiveness. But upon doing so it will either burrow under the ground or curl up and chase you to attack out of instinct. Doing this repeatedly will gain taming effectiveness and progress, trying which food it likes the most can help, and even be tested because it will automatically eat any food it likes off the ground, and make a different animation for each of its reactions (Awful, bad, good, better, favorite). After you've done this enough times to get it to one third of taming progress it will then become curious of you and follow you around at a distance, but not approach. Having learned you give it food it likes. After this you must throw food to it out of your inventory onto the ground so it will eat it and continue to gain more progress, no longer needing the Traps. Then once it gains more trust it will start to get closer and eventually you feed it in close range. Touching it might still startle it though and cause it to swipe at you or roll away. Simply feed it till it is tamed. 3. This method combines both in a way. Using the preferred food mechanic with the demolition one, and also giving you a choice of how to do the taming based on your resource availability. You must bait it into destroying walls but can choose to do this with either violence (aggroing it) or baiting it with food. If you have its preferred food in your last slot it will automatically smell it and start pursuing you, letting you lead it into walls to destroy. It will also do so if you attack it. But attacking it can lower its taming effectiveness, not enough to demolish the percentage but enough that getting one over 80% at low level is hard and one over 60% at high level is impossible. Leading it into walls will gain taming progress for each one smashed, but it will also lose effectiveness if you don't feed it the food your baiting it with after doing so for a while, about every 15-25 structures it would need to be fed, and you'd need to throw down the food to let it eat while it's pursuing you. This wouldn't be a cheap taming process and would of course cost you more in walls than food. By baiting it into walls over and over, the taming would be essentially encouraging its behavior of smashing things (that it could enjoy, in theory) and sweetened by food or it's favorite food. Rewarding its smashing behavior and possibly its appetite as well. Combining some or something like these elements would help flesh this creature out and give it more use and purpose as well as give it a place that doesn't Trump everything and doesn't make the experience of the map 'just go get a 'Dillo you dummy', whether it's for destructive potential or survivability, the mobility, or just for its taste for anything from Honey to Jug Bugs. Overall, I like this creature, but if it's just a ball it's kinda bland. It should have more behavioral quirks to make it not just useful for things regarding its mobility. It shouldn't be as swift handling and lightweight as the Maewing just because it's a later addition that they tend to power creep like they do the later creatures, but it shouldn't be ascumbersome as any of the other rollers, but not as capable aerial-wise as the Bloodstalker. It should be a robust, terrain and vaguely physics-based (cause you and I know this game doesn't do complex physics well, the only exception is the Rock Drake and that's a miracle it works as well as it does and if a single rock can totally stop you even if it's the size of your shoe it should be enraging) mount for travel, evasion, a combination of direct and non-direct combat and demolition of structures. It would succeed well on a map mainly made of flat planes than transition smoothly with a good amount of perpendicular terrain that don't have many areas where it's just constantly separated by height too steep to traverse on anything but a flier or jumper. It's a good balanced of design that would suit the creature and its purpose. Just don't make it a block-head that only serves to smash things, even if smashing things is fun. And possibly setting up a giant slingshot to knock Wyverns or other fliers out of the sky could be fun (possible mechanic? New anti-air tame by skill alone? Colliding with fliers mid-air at a certain momentum threshold could literally knock-down (or stun, if they want to use that version of cc too logically in the game) fliers from the sky and give a reason to make ramps for another reason than your racetrack, Tim, fellow tribemate, that yes, i use to defend the base, stop asking why you 'wasted' resources on it. To those who worry about this creature being too good compared to the Doed and Roll Rat, those creatures do severely different things, the Doed also is not actually comparable at all cause it literally just has a roll for giggles, and there's no way you'd b expected to use this for much else, even when the Genesis 1 mission seems to think otherwise. Roll Rats are basically a step up from that concept, how does that not make the Doed useless? It doesn't, that's how. They do completely different things, the Roll Rat is for fast but slightly difficult to control tumbling across terrain like a giant wheel through trees and rocks, destroying them in the process, as well as being a dedicated wood gatherer. The Doed has almost nothing to do with the former mentioned function and is dedicated to primarily Stone and other Hatchet-Based Rock-Type Resources. This is like comparing an Iron Spiked Mace Ball to a Giant Sawblade that can roll like a vehicle. By this same logic, the Armadillosuchus is like a Wrecking Ball that utilizes a multipurpose whip that it uses to propel itself and to exploit food sources that other creatures cannot, especially in the environment it lives in. This creature may be a step up for the mode of transport but isn't that what the game does anyway? Even then, people will still tame a Rex even if a Giga exists, people still tame Raptors if there are bigger alternatives, they tame these tames for more than just them being the top of the list. This is why Dinos like the Bronto need TLCs badly, cause they're hardly used except for certain tanking situations or novel uses. Same goes for many cave creatures, 90% of the Ocean, and even other creatures that seem to have cemented uses, the Therizino at the least needs a face-lift, while the Sabertooth has barely anything that distinguishes it or makes it a good option compared to its nearest competitors, only boasting greater stats than the lowest tier rideable swift-footed carnivores and mounts while it barely can compete with Direwolves for its lack of any mechanical use and it's saddle can hardly make up for the Direwolves small but still better TLC, finding corpses, sensing hp levels and giving its packmates a boost, of which it can also give a pack bonus to. So now is not the time to release a relatively one-note creature, give it a chance to do something else and find its place in the Arks. Here's a taste of what the intricacies of it could look like as well. [Basic Information] Group - Reptiles Diet - Omnivorous - Eats Meat, Chitin, Berries, Vegetables, Mutton, but not other foods, will refuse Veggie Cakes and gets nothing from any other foods, they will also not eat Fish Meats or Kibble. Depending on its preferences it will either eat or not eat certain things like Sap, Rare Mushroom, Honey or Cactus Sap. Gaining 10, 30, 50, or 5 food from each item. - Armadillosuchus babies will not eat anything other than Chitin or Meat. - They can be fed stews but will not eat Wyvern Milk or other similar non-stew or abovementioned food sborrowers. Temperament - Depends mainly on taming method, but either Territorial or Neutral. Tameable - Yes Rideable - Yes Breedable - Yes Torpor Immune - No, but good luck knocking one out. Taming Method - Passive/Violent Preferred Food - Honey/Sap/Cactus Sap/Rare Mushroom/Chitin Poop Size - Medium Radiation Immune - No Carryable By - (Post-Adolescent and Adult) Tuso, Quetzal. - (Pre-Adolescent) Megalosaurus, Argentavis, Tropeognathus, Desmodus, Wyvern, Crystal Wyvern, Tusoteuthis, Quetzal, Mammoth, Karkinos. - (Baby) Procoptodon and Maewing. Plus above. Trapped By - Large Bear Trap, Chain Bola, Net Gun. Fearable? (Yuty) - Yes. But it's unlikely you get many off on it if it's rolling around, takes 2 roars in quick succession or 3 slightly delayed ones. Drops - Raw Meat, Chitin, Keratin, Raw Prime Meat. Habitat - (I know it's for Scorched Earth but I'm putting this here as if it could spawn on other maps.) - Scorched Earth - Scattered locations around the general map but not in the Dunes. - Ragnarok - Rare in the southern non-dune desert locations, Very Rare in the Savannah Isles. - Lost Island - Rare in the non-dune areas of des - Crystal Isles - the southern desert, Very Rare. Why no Extinction or Fjordur? Why no Valguero or Genesis' Because i dont know Extinctions terrain well enough and Fjordur is poorly suited to this creature imo, it's terrain is too vertical and doesn't compliment it well, plus its the last map besides an ice age map it'd spawn on.. This creature would fare way better on the ones I put as it spawning in. Val and the Gens also have no Desert Biomes. - Variants? No. I don't see them even being on the maps that have them (Abb, Both Gens). They don't need them either, also most specific DLC dinos never get variants with a few exceptions. (Wyverns, Rock Golem, Reaper, Snow Owl, Gasbag.) [Other Information] Aggro Class - Medium, while I think it's stupid that Raptors will endlessly kamikaze into things like Direbears and the like, it's also dumb if a Carno wouldn't take a shot at attacking one. Or other Medium-size table creatures like Theris and such. While you can probably Roar to spook most smaller creatures away, and bugs don't care, they shouldn't be just ignored like a Rock Drake, Wyvern or Rex is. Saddle - The saddle is crafted around lvl 50, not to be made early by those wanting to skip most of the early game tames. It requires Hide, Chitin, Silk and Fiber. The Saddle can carry 1 passenger, and is located on the stomach of an Armadillosuchus, allowing the rider to be nearly impossible to shoot at or attack even from players if mounted, and completely shielded if rolled into its ball form. However the rider cannot get a clear shot on most things and first person is not good for those using one as anything more than an upside down tank, making it difficult to shoot, attack or harvest from, but possible. The saddle also has a special use in which the pouch can also be used to carry a Fertilized Egg, by holding E on its Radial you can select to put in an egg from your inventory (Named by species and level) this will not only give insulation to the egg (more hyper than hypo, and bonus to them if ordered to burrow as well) but it also protects the egg from being picked up or hatching when it finishes incubating. The only ways to get the egg is for the owner to remove it, hatch it with the E options of the Armadillosuchus or kill the Armadillosuchus and loot the body (The egg will be on its corpse, but drop into the once the body decays). This enables some form of protection for eggs that is not utilized in any other creatures that help care for babies. (This is the idea from Khan0803 but modified a bit.) [Passive Abilities] - It's hardest shell region has a natural armor of 80% damage reduction, severely reducing the damage that can be done against it by tames or weapons that hit it from the sides and top, the armored parts also take 30% less damage. It also has a 50% chance to reduce bleed attacks that are to its normal body and 100% for its shell. - The Armadillosuchus is immune to the effects of Sandstorms, naturally, and while in ball form can also shield its rider, burrowing will protect them from both Sandstorms and Superheats. - It is immune to the poisons of all bugs, like the Stamina-depleteing kind of most ambient insects and the torpor poison of Scorpions and Eurypterid, as well as Spider Venom. Their diet does consist of them after all. - Armadillosuchus has preferences for its diet depending on the individual, like creatures have stats, some Armadillosuchus will prefer one of 5 foods over the other. Each in a category of Awful, bad, good, better, and favorite. The one that is its favorite will give it double food, and it will have the ability to gather that particular resource, and at a high rate. You will often find this out from taming it, as you can test this by dropping food and watching its various reactions. These foods are - Cactus Chitin (Bugs), Sap, Rare Mushroom and Honey. The odds of them being one of these is slightly rarer from former to latter. - While in its Rolling Mode the rider cannot be dismounted by Microraptor or targeted by Bloostalkers, and the Armadillosuchus is immune to other physical stuns from Purlovia and Baronyx. It can however be stunned by or separated from its rider by Shadowmanes, Voidwyrms, Freeze effects and Rock Golem rocks if caught airborne. [Abilities/Controls] Left Click - Attacks with its claws, dealing moderately high damage, and breaking trees in the process, it can only gather minor amounts of most resources but thanks to its strong digging claws and limbs it can harvest more types of resources than other dinos even if it doesn't get much from them. - This includes 5 Star - Nothing 4 Star - Honey, Sap, Chitin, Rare Mushroom and Cactus when it's favorite is one of them, but can only do it if it has one as a favorite from being wild or it's bred to know how to harvest them all across lots of generations. 3 Star - Chitin, Salt. 2 Star - Flint, Sand, Metal, Thatch, Meat, Hide, Pelt, Scrap Metal, Element Dust. 1 Star - Stone, Keratin, Prime Meats, Wood, Berries, Pearl's, BlackPearl's, Fish Meat, Mutton, Sulfur. 0 Star (Cannot gather) - Crystal, Fiber, Oil, Rare Flowers, Anything that is not its favorite food if tamed or inherited by family lines. It can easily knock back and deal serious damage, it's base damage is 40. Right Click - Activates or Disables Rolling Mode, in this mode the Armadillosuchus has the mechanics of momentum but instead of simply building up speed it depends on gravitational and angle physics, it can hold itself in place thanks to the natural 'treads' of it shell so it willnot roll aimlessly down hills, but once prompted will begin to go in the direction you push, hitting things will bounce you back with the adequate force you used, and at certain stages of speed how you interact with things will change. You are also immune to stun and physical dismount effects from dinos like Purlovia and Baryonyx in this form. - At less than 20% Speed and regardless you will be able to squish small animals like Jerboas, Shoulder Pets and Bugs naturally from crush damage if you roll over them. - At 20% Speed you will be able to damage Thatch Structures. - At 40% you will knock down trees and be able to damage Thatch and Wood structures, knock back creatures Raptor size and smalle and maintain speed when airborne for short jumps. - At 60% YOU can break/damage normal rocks that are not metal, trees, structures up to Stone and knock creatures up to the size and weight of a Therizino out of your way. - At 80% You gain the ability to cross water when rolling at this speed or higher, deal Torpor to large creatures when colliding with them like Rexes, Yutys, and Even Hard-Shelled knockout type Creatures except for Golems. You can damage Metal Walls, Metal based rocks (but not harvest them) and all previously mentioned, you will also now knockback creatures up to the size of a Rex at this speed. - At above 70% you gain the ability to knock fliers out of the sky if you hit them. To do this, you can build up momentum with an initial roll, use your Tongue to swing at a pivot, and conserve energy to slam into the flier, or use a ramp in terrain or buildings, if impacting them, they will immediately fall out of the sky as if hit by a net gun, and be stunned for 10 seconds. - At 90% You are able to damage Tek Structures, Deal higher damage to armored creatures and deal torpor to Golems, beware though as doing so will also deal torpor to the Armadillosuchus, and minor damage, depending on if you aim correctly, you can hit the head of the Golem to reduce the torpor taken by your Armadillosuchus. If you Unroll in mid-air your momentum will be poorly conserved, but can be regained somewhat if you go back into ball form, going up high in the air and hitting the ground in ball form breaks rocks according to your speed and structures, doing a splash that gets bigger the harder you hit the ground. The Armadillosuchus can take most impacts fairly well.. slamming into walls is its natural way of ricocheting. But certain interactions can stun it or even knock it out, beware when slamming headfirst into Rock Golems and other Armadillosuchus, the impact could even dismount you. C - 'Lick', using its tongue to lash out, this is not necessarily an attack but it can deal damage to certain resources and bugs, dealing 60 damage to them at base damage, and not only increasing with damage percentage but gets a 2x modifier if it is a Chitin Eater, and automatically harvests the corpses for you, thus includes certain deep sea creatures like the Trilobite and Eurypterid. Making it super effective at killing bugs and most buglike Chitinous animals.. It can harvest from the following nodes their specified resources. - Termite Mounds/Tree Stumps - Chitin and Sap - Joshua Trees - Sap - Beehives - Honey - Swamp Trees - Rare Mushroom - Mushroom Patches - Rare Mushroom - Crystal - Rare Mushroom - Cactus - Cactus Sap - Cactus Patches - Cactus Sap This also activates the tongue grapple if in Rolling Mode if under 70% speed or still, this move cannot be used above that threshhold. X - Burrow, burrow underground to partially submerge the Armadillosuchus, this only buries about two thirds of it and the top of less than half of its shell will stick out, this doesn't stick out in those younger than the Adolescent Stage. If an Armadillosuchus is in this mode and you wish to kill it, it will take 90% less damage in this form, but is susceptible to Explosives in this mode, they will cause it to jump out of the ground, faster than unburrowing normally. If you so this while in range of a buried creature it will unbury them. Allowing you to unearth many creatures including one's that may be stuck underground for whatever reason. You can also do this to other Armadillosuchus. Spacebar - Jump While in Rolling Mode if above 40% speed. Swipes around with its tail knocking creatures back with the mace end and turns around at 180 degree if in Normal Mode. Control - Roar that spooks small creatures. [Breeding] Armadillosuchus are Egg-layers same as other Crocodylomorphs, and lay a single egg like all other dinos, it's color is dirty sand brown with Russet red spots. The weight is medium, making Regular Kibble. Female Armadillosuchus will bury their eggs in the sand upon laying them, but you can dig them up if you want to carry yourself, and incubate it, Unfortunately Amradillosuchus Breeding is not so simple and requires them to be in an area with soft ground, so you cannot do this in Rocky mountainous zones, tek areas or on top of foundations. Requiring snow, dirt or sand. They will refuse to mate if they cannot find soft ground to bury the egg. [Raising] Armadillosuchus upon birth have none of the armor plates that their parents do and require to be handled as most baby dinos. However, they may tend to start rolling randomly, as their nature, and if startled will burrow under the ground, they cannot do this in hard ground if they are not at least Adloescents, but their body will also not show above ground if they are younger than so, allowing them to hide from threats more easily. Armadillosuchus commonly will eat Raw Meat and Chitin, but will not Eat Fish Meat (nor will their adult versions), Berries or Vegetables until they are adults, or Kibble. They are notoriously picky eaters, and they will also inherit the tastes of their parents, having a 50% chance for either, or 10% for both. When they want the specific foods they eat, they will act anxious and follow the nearest allied player until they feed them that item. The higher the food Stat, the more you need to feed them, upwards of 5 to 15 of the food in some cases (For those with Sweet-Toothed Armadillosuchus this can cost pounds upon pounds of Honey.) Upon reaching Adolescence they will grow their first layer of outer Shell plates, their 'training wheels' will allow them to have better traction on the ground and they will begin to roll around a lot more and test out their mobility, make sure you keep them in a pen with high walls, or even a ceiling, as they can get out of most common dinosaur pens, and can even smash out of wood structures by accident at this stage. Once at 70% they will shed the plates of their first shell and then grow their final plates. Which are the final ones that will give them their natural armor and full powered rollout. They eat the most at this stage and require lots of Chitin and Meat in order to grow their shell, or they can suffer from it and have reduced armor values for their shell. [Weaknesses] - Fire - Armadillosuchus don't do well with fire, as much as they are tough they are still flammable, and when catching fire they will unfurl from ball form, even if it is in mid-air, this means launching yourself at Fire Wyverns can be dangerous. In addition, Fire Arrows, Oil Jars, Flamethrowers, and Lava can be extremely disruptive to them, it's also one of the only things a wild Armadillosuchus will flee from. Fire is also the main ability of a certain creature native to Scorched Earth, the Phoenix, this bird is not only airborne and out of reach of most Armadillosuchus but can use its charge attack to catch up to any under 80% Speed, setting them on fire and scaring it out of its ball form. Ember Wyverns and Magmasaurs included as counters. - Explosives - Explosives can be one of the greatest weapons against Armadillosuchus, as it is vulnerable to the shock of being hit by one and will unfurl if it's hit by any of them, including Grenades and C4, Rockets, etc. Use of proper weapons and defenses can help protect a base from people who use them, but one of the greatest uses of Explosives is it will blow off plates of the Armadillosuchus's armor. Allowing those spots to be hit for higher damage and impeding the top speed and maneuverability of the Armadillosuchus that is missing them, these plates can grow back, but take time and energy, and wounded Armadillosuchus can be vulnerable if left out, so most people will keep them safely tucked away until they can be safely secured in a place they can grow their plates back without being attacked. - Net Guns, Chain Bolas and Large Bear Traps - If by some miracle a tribemate of someone manages to land a Net or Bola on a speeding Armadillosuchus, or it rolls into a Large Bear Trap at anything lower than 80% Speed, it will ensnare the Armadillosuchus, but above 80% most projectiles either glance off it or break, meaning this may not always be an option. - Golems and Seige Weaponry - One of the only things that can severely damage, knock back, stun or even Knock Out an Armadillosuchus is heavy weaponry turrets that use brute force or Rock Golems. Capable of inflicting massive damage, and torpor to the Armadillosuchus. Unless they are above 90% speed. While bullets will glance off them at 80% speed and higher, they are rarely going that fast all the time. Turrets will be able to do some damage, but the natural armor reduces at least 50% of bullet damage, and Is basically immune to primitive sources of weaponry like stone tier or non metal weapons. They can however be damaged by - Ballistas, Canon balls, Catapults, and Rock Golem rock throws. These can even knock them out of ball form if hit mid-air. - Gigas and Titanosaurs - These 2 creatures have no problem taking out Rock Golems, creatures the Armadillosuchus itself has problems with. So they do not have as high damage reductions against it, none in the case of the Titanosaur. - Shadowmanes, Tusos and Quetzals - These creatures can immobilize Armadillosuchus briefly with certain abilities. Shadowmanes can stun them, Tusos and grab them, Quetzals can also pick them up, and often have the health to take the 'Dillo's swipes until it has carried it a Sage distance, while it may never encounter such a situation, a Tuso could mean certain death for an Armadillosuchus and it's rider caught in the clutches of a tamed squid, as unlike wild ones they are not as willing to let go, and your 'Dillo may also drown in the process. - Water - Deep water can sometimes be a hindrance if there is enough of it. Armadillosuchus can only roll so far across it even with its speed abilities and so any bases or areas that are not accessible by the seafloor or close by shore may be completely inaccessible, they can also sink to the bottom and drown if they get stuck, so do not leave them there, although they have higher Oxygen from being burrowers. Also, Armadillosuchus are not immune to shocks totally from Jellyfish and Eels, and are still slowed by it, they are also poorly equipped to fight them and may need an escort if going into deeper water even briefly. - Another Armadillosuchus - While this is a given in almost any match-up, the ability and variables by which another Armadillosuchus rider's is astronomical, even a wild one will be relatively tough to kill, especially of similar level. In addition, if 2 rolling Armadillosuchus collide, they will both stun each other and fall down for a few seconds. - Blood, Tek and Ice Wyverns, Amargasaurus, Arthropluera, Snow Owl and Managarmr. - These creatures abilities all can either penetrate the armor of the Armadillosuchus or weaken it with either a status effect or substance that inhibits it or causes damage uninhibited by the armor. Blood Wyverns can Sap health from it without it having any counter beyond blasting it out of the sky, Tek wyverns can stun its rider off, and Ice Wyverns can freeze it, which by this logic includes all the other ice-wielding creatures like Snow Owls and Managarmr. Amargasaurus can also be used for many of its weaknesses on top of armor break, and Arthropluera, although a bug, can still do high damage with its acid spit, and reduce its armor for short time. [Stats] Health - Moderate to High Health like an Argy or Doed Stamina - Low number but low usage from rolling, mainly drained from running or attacking. Oxygen - Higher than normal so they can hold their breath for a bit but it's nothing too impressive. Food - Nothing is needed. Weight - They have good carry weight despite not being particularly good gatherers of most things they don't specialize in. But it won't compare to high tier weight dinos, they do not get a weight reduction on any resource. Melee - Their Melee is 30 base and 60 against bugs. Speed - Idk the speed values so something between a Thorny Dragon and Morellatops. Yes. That was a lot.. but I'd say they aren't hard pressed for options when it comes to ideas. If they don't like the tongue swing, they can even circumvent it by putting in a Tek Saddle from the Manticore that let's you tether for slingshotting yourself or use kinetic momentum to power stronger bounces and scale walls like a huge spiked death ball. ~ Credits to - Khan0803 for the idea for the Egg incubation. - Shockal for the general taming method, concept and its weaknesses (if those were included by him or Dako I have no idea, can't find the original post and I've been typing this for hours on a phone. It adds 3% units of armor from the current value to each piece of survivor's armor; 10% units of armor from the current value to the entire set; 5% units of armor from the current value to a set of identical armor.Roller Mode. Image. Drill Mode. Provides the ability to breathe underwater. However, it consumes 5 units of durability per second. It can protect the creature from falling, but it consumes durability. Armadillo receives increased repulsion when the field is activated. Image. The "Tek force field" ability for the Armadillo.Roller Mode. Passive Abilities. (TEK Saddle) It leaves a pleasant trail, similar to the Astrodelphis. It adds a 15% increase to the creature's movement speed, but this speed increase does not affect the creature's acceleration. Drill Mode. Active Abilities. (TEK Saddle)Rocket jump. The ability to activate a jump from a standstill, with movement to the selected point. The creature lands and automatically switches to another mode, dealing a significant amount of damage. It deals damage to players, creatures, and structures. The creature will turn in the direction you want for the jump and can also jump backward. (If jumped on a foundation, it will switch to walking mode, if jumped on the ground, it will switch to rolling mode). During the jump, its resistance to projectiles is reduced from 75% to 35%. Image. The "Rocket jump" ability for the Armadillo.Drill Mode. Passive Abilities. (TEK Saddle) The ability to extract element veins on the "Extinction" map by exclusively collecting elemental dust, but in large quantities. Tent Mode. Active Abilities. (TEK Saddle) An additional incubation slot. Armadillo gains an additional incubation slot for Wyvern eggs. The creature can also provide the player with food and water, similar to a Tek Sleeping Pod. However, it does not perform functions such as experience gain, curing diseases, or healing the player's health. Tent Mode. Passive Abilities. (TEK Saddle) An increased wyvern egg incubation rate by 20%.
Luux
Shame. Cause this creature really only fits thematically in this map as far as the DLCs go. When thinking of them all, I can see how some people might think Aberration would be good match but I beg to differ and think it would actually fit not only worse but be a really odd part of the creature roster in terms of mobility. Not only that, it would actually do what was thought it wouldn't do and sort of succeed the Rollrat out of overshadowing and the fact that it would likely handle better and be far superior in overall movement especially if it actually had the tongue grapple ability (which I doubt it even would but let's consider it anyway, this game has space whales and technological creature's that for some reason still eat biological food and poop regular poop and lay eggs that can grow into full grown adults, maybe I missed the particular lore bit for that one but what the heck lol. It would also likely be better at combat just because it will likely have better handling control and possibly just raw damage not even from its Abilities and likely not require a saddle that is made of tons of metal to begin with and loses durability to the point it breaks while thr Armadillosuchus has natural armor and treads that serve this function for it, only requiring a punch saddle to hold the rider. I've seen some people say that some of these creatures would be better suited for some of the Free DLC maps but I don't think they're going to add dinos to those, unless I misread or they change their mind and the wording of them adding a dino to each paid DLC was not quite accurate. Or you could say the free dlcs are paid after all cause in ASA you have to buy the whole game and paid DLCs to get them anyway. If they did though, here's the maps I think it would suit in stars. The Island - 1/5 / Balance - Overpowered versus certain areas and most of the creatures but terrible in others. Imagine getting stuck in the Swamp Trees right next to an Alpha Carno or Alpha anything. Scorched Earth - 4/5 / Balance - Optimal but has its flaws. Aberration - 1/5 / Balance - Disrespectful towards the maps terrain challenges and creature progression. Extinction - 2/5 / Balance - Unsure since I didn't play this map but I assume it would either be negligible or meh. Another desert creature I suppose but that would just feel weird for it to have no element mutation like the others. Could see it in the desert dome or the wastelands. Genesis - 1/5 / Balance - This creature will either be completely terrible and mauled by all the dangerous X dinos or just be a worse Bloodstalker, which would not fit this map at all. It also does not fit any biome except maybe vaguely the volcanic or arctic just cause of soft snow and cannot see it spawning anywhere else. Genesis 2 - 2/5 / Balance - Depending on how this thing handles, it could be the terrible Maewing counterpart that goes not nearly as fast or high but if done right maybe it'd be useful being the counterpart that is less squishy and can handle threats more in return for slightly less ridiculous speed and mobility by just avoidance and sonic flight. The Center - ?/5 Dunno cause I never played it. Ragnarok - 3/5 / Balance - This is one of the only maps this makes sense for, it fits the map cause It not only has scorched Earth dinos but desert areas and the map has the kind of terrain that makes land based and jumping/climbing dinos extremely good on it. The only reason it isnt higher is it might be worse than just getting a Griffin or Thyla. Valguero - 2/5 / Balance - It could live in say the Chalk Hills cause there are Cactus and a few desert dinos there, or the snow for the soft snow for burrowing, but overall I don't know If this dino would be good at traversing this map due to its strange terrain that tends to be flat or completely vertical. Crystal Isles - ?/5 I didn't play on the finished version of this map long enough but I did play the original, and I am confident it would likely not be a good fit cause of how the map is very erratic in terrain unless this creature had a grapple. It also has other animals that would overshadow In these aspects on the map like Crystal Wyverns and Griffins. Lost Island - 3/5 While I think Lost Island should have just added a massive dinosaur-eating tarantula or tarantula/monkey hybrid to scare the living daylights out of people I can see this inhabiting the desert biome. Just be careful that it isn't just ruined by the Amargasaurus, which are stupidly dangerous in the wild and the monkeys which do bleed for some reason which just why. So unless Armadillosuchus has bleed resistance I don't think it'd be good, especially without the grapple. Fjordur - 1/5 / Balance - There is no biome this could go in logically without it being ridiculous or just thrown into a realm really. Maybe the golden forest areas or Volcanic area or Jotunnheim but eh. Perhaps there will be another map they add we get to vote in like Fjordur and Lost Island that this creature may get the chance to be in.
Sovira
This is genuinely an awesome idea for Scorched Earth, I always wished the doedicurus could do devastation with its rolling, the roll rat was kind of sad to me as the armor had durability that could be quickly wrecked
RaionTora
Great, i really like this. I hope we will get it because it looks the best and most useful here
Hermes1111
I like the creature but i don't like the tongue idea, it looks out of place, i would prefer him to have abilities that resemble better the real creature. The tongue idea would look better on a fantasy creature.

That's really true when compared to other animal groups in-game. I actually checked and there are just over 10 real-world prehistoric birds(not counting mythical ones of which there are only like 3), and of those ten only 3 are ridable. When compared to the dozens of rideable dinos, mammals, and insects we now have it does call for us to have a wider roster of them. We could use more mammals and water creatures definitely, but birds really deserve the most love right now.
