Palaeoloxodon namadicus (biggest elephant the world's ever seen)

Suggestion

(original dossier art and description by: unknown)
(NOTE: The species in the dossier is Palaeoloxodon cantusamanus, but I'm using it as a basis for Palaeoloxodon namadicus, due to the fact there are several large identified species of the said genus.)

(Dossier art description, with contraries of what I will add to it below it)

Common name: Palaeoloxodon
Species: Palaeoloxodon cantusamanus* ("namadicus" for submission)
Time: Pleistocene
Diet: Herbivore
Temperment: Territorial

Wild: The largest mammal on the island by far, I find it fascinating that Palaeoloxodon cantusamanus (namadiscus) has eluded me for so long. Though essentially an oversized elephant, the padding in its feer keeps it silent as it navigates its jungle home - until angered.

Content to live a solitary lifestyle, these pachyderms will charge if approached. Fortunately, some survivors have found that music soothes these savage beasts - music from and instrument will literally have Palaeoloxodon eating out of your hands!

DomesticatedBecause of its aggressive tendencies, Palaeoloxodon is a poor gatherer, and mounting a platform saddle on one is difficult. Some tribes instead fit their mount with a saddle equiped with wardrums - playing music as they ride into battle!

In a fight, Palaeoloxodon packs a wallop, especially when inspired by the music of its rider. Music pushes it to take more punishment, attack faster, and charge right though enemies!

My additions to the creature

In addition to its wild behavior and taming method through music as in the original artist's dossier, my idea for Palaeoloxodon namadicus is it being a walking fortress like any platform saddle dino. BUT, unlike the platform saddles, this thing's one and only saddle is a pre-built fortress akin to the elephants from lord of the rings.

The mammoth already has a saddle with war drums on it via the TLC 3 update a couple years ago. So, how about using it to your advantage to tame this creature as in the dossier?

Real world context

Palaeoloxodon namadicus - Wikipedia

Palaeoloxodon namadicus is thought to be the largest known terrestrial mammal to have ever walked the earth, from the Indian subcontinent of the mid to late Pleistocene. It is also estimated to be the largest species of the genus that is composed of a few other large species, as well as plenty of dwarf-sized species.

I Just love your ideas , i make à dossier myself , and we definitely need à New strong herbivore

But we need to promote it cuz thats not going into thé top 10 unfortunately ( beside thats thé Palaeo is better than some of thé top 10 actually )

Here is my take for thé Palaeoloxodon (ive had problem with image so there wont be any :()

In term of size, it could be a bit bigger than a Paracer

We desperatly need new strong herbivore that could rival the apex predators of the Ark.

Taming method :

Sensitive to music, a way to tame this creature is to play drums (with maybe some sort of sequence to do) in front of the Palaeoloxodon. When you did the sequence correctly, the pachyderm will allow you to feed him. And you will need to repeat as long as it need.

On it saddle, we coul have a sort of a war platform due to his enormous size with maybe some kinf of tent to prevent sandstorm. Making the Palaeoloxodon a good traveler but with really bad stamina.

Where to find that creature ?

In the dunes or maybe next to oasis but you would find only one per area.

Attack :

Attack 1 : a tusk/trunk swipe

Attack 2 : A massive stomp that deal a lot of damage

A roar that could fear some creature but idk

And maybe a « beast mod » or « musth mode » like modern elephant, when it go crazy (a bit like the giga) it would increase his speed and melee damage.

What kind of inconvenient could it have ? Maybe a very low stamina to not make this beast too OP.

Hey everyone this is my creature submission for scorched earth, the palaeoloxodon! E719ED3B-5F58-4E46-9C31-EC7998C4014C.webp.edd792dc9dc93849c614e20fda186af7.webp

Real world info:

Real world name: Palaeoloxodon Namadicus

Ark name: Palaeoloxodon Giganticus

Diet: Herbivore

Temperment: Agressive

The palaeoloxodon is the largest terrestrial mammal to ever exist (tied with Paraceratherium). This beast was estimated to be anywhere from 14-16 feet tall and weighed over 15 tons. It lived during the late Pleistocene and was found in Asia. 7A1F04AA-77FD-40D2-BB8F-6E6C1A9D65BB.png.aae62f0be8466683633b5e3c42e73e9a.pngC0D9A105-8B38-4DA7-84C8-CF21BD35975A.jpeg.8e681b712c420a2c603b80f153ed0966.jpegE5789449-6D79-4A5E-BC0F-2881A07061DF.jpeg.ffa70c9d31ed561753a79c55614d7b15.jpeg

In Ark:

Now that you know a bit about or candidate here how will it function in game?

Here are some ideas based off of real world elephant behaviour and real uses of elephants in warfare.  First off our ark palaeoloxodon will be even bigger than its real world counterpart. It should be bigger than a mammoth or paracer but smaller than a bronto, I personally envision it being around the same height as a reaper queen, with larger ears than the real animal to aid in desert survival.

Taming and behaviour:

This creature will be a passive tame, requiring you to read its body signals.
Real world elephants have what we call mock charges where the animal rushes a target but only intends to intimidate it. A tell for these displays is that the creatures ears spread out to make it look bigger and thus scarier.  If the ears however are pinned back, be prepared to run for your life. Our palaeoloxodon will behave the same when you approach it. If it’s ears splay out it is safe to move in to feed it it’s only taming food extraordinary kibble, don’t overstay your welcome though as hanging around too long will cause it to become hostile. If the ears are pinned back evacuate the area as moving closer will aggravate it and cause it to attack. In addition to this with the reveal that babies will be present in Ark ascended, getting close to an immature palaeoloxodon will cause nearby females to instantly aggro to the player in order to defend their young

Combat:

Power

In terms of power scaling I’d expect it to be able to handle a rex or spino with ease but will struggle against more powerful opponents like a giga or carch

Basic attacks

Like the mammoth palaeoloxodon could have a basic stomp, tusk, and trunk attack

Roar

Like shadowmanes, when a male and female palaeoloxodon are mate boosted they can boost allied creatures with a roar. The males roar will give musth rage (a real thing that happens to bull elephants causing them to be more aggressive and powerful in preparation for mating season where they fight for the females) this will give all allied creatures in the area a 15% damage boost, on the other hand the females roar protective parent (due to elephant mothers being extremely loyal to their young) gives all creatures in the area a 15 damage resistance buff.

Pack Boost

Elephants are herd animals so it makes sense that palaeoloxodon would have a pack boost, but in a different way. Their pack boost would stack passive damage resistance alone and no alpha would needed to make a call to activate it. However the herd matriarch (highest level female palaeoloxodon) would also gain a 3% damage buff for each member stacking up to 5 members(15%)

General:

-Like the mammoth is attacks can effectively harvest thatch, wood, and berries but unlike the mammoth it would not give any of these things weight reduction so as not to replace the mammoth in the resource department

-Palaeoloxodon like modern elephants when in a hot environment would fan it ears to cool off, this can be used to survivors advantage to help regulate their body temperature like and ac unit or dimetrodon

-Elephants are known to sense natural disasters before they happen due to elephants being sensitive to vibrations in the ground. Our palaeoloxodon will function the same way, warning survivors of the weather events on scorched but not specifying which one so as not to make the jerboa useless but still breathe new life into this creature

 Saddles:

Palaeoloxodon will have two saddles. One for survival and one for war. The survival saddle will have a tarp overhead for shade, multiple seats, a built in smithy, and mini platform to build a few small structures. When this saddle is equipped it can also store water without it draining, and your paleoloxodon can use its trunk to fill storages itself when near a body of water similar to a morellatops. The war saddle on the other hand will not provide shade or a platform, but will be decked out with chains and metal to give the saddle extra armour value, it will also be fitted with a small tower form which a ballista will be mounted, similar to how war elephants had a small tower from which archers would be able shoot enemies. C685F6B1-A4C1-4163-89B6-7A042C119BC6.jpeg.abbde7e3cc3a003c850400b0b613b46d.jpeg

Elephant Tusks:

A new resource type will enter the game with this creature, elephant tusks. These can be harvested off a dead palaeoloxodon or can be painlessly harvested off a tamed one (they will grow back like amargasaurus spines). These tusks would have 3 uses. It will be a necessary ingredient needed to craft the saddles, can be used to craft a cool looking tent (functionally identical to the regular tent) and will be used to cook musth broth. This soup when made with other desert ingredients like cactus sap will give the consuming player the buffs of both palaeoloxodon roar buffs at once for a short period of time

Miscellaneous:

Palaeoloxodon will take 30% increased fire damage, fall damage and damage from cannons (inspired off of how cannon and flaming arrows were used to counter war elephants and how elephants are incapable of moving down steep slopes)

Palaeoloxodon will have a 75% weight reduction for clay and cactus sap

Palaeoloxodon will have sexual dimorphism with males having longer tusks and bigger ears than females

Palaeoloxodon like real war elephants and Arks giga will rage and attack everything in its immediate area including allies and it’s rider if it takes and immense amount of damage all at once
